I had a small incursion into another vehicle in my car and also needed to touch up some stuff before it went back on lease. I had previously used Fix Auto in San Francisco and they were excellent but since moving east I decided to give their franchise-mates here a go. It did not disappoint. Within minutes of selecting them as my bodyshop I received a phone call from them asking when I would like to come in for an estimate, we agreed on a time and I took the car down where they quickly estimated not just the insurance work but also the amount it would cost to fix the little boo-boos here and there that would cause consternation at lease return. For less than a grand out of pocket I had everything rectified to a very very high standard. During the time the car was in for repair they kept me constantly updated and finished the car six days earlier than promised. We were delighted to be reunited with our electric Hyundai. They also worked directly with Enterprise rent-a-car to have our loaner dropped off and picked up. Communication was A+ The quality of the work was A+ The cost of doing the work was also A+ Literally no notes. They also had some lovely classic BMWs in for paint and restoration. My car was side-swiped in a hit & run on the freeway in mid-June. It took a while to contact Fix Auto because of my medical issues and I had to call my insurance company, USAA auto. I pay an extra $10/month to cover a rental car; they use Enterprise; I used the one on Shattuck, very close to Fix Auto. I was going to drop the car off the next morning and went to a grocery store the afternoon before. While parked in the Handicap spot in front, someone either ran into or backed into the right rear bumper almost taking the whole thing off! I called Fix Auto immediately; Justine said to bring the car in a.s.a.p. for Yinmi (Jimmy, in English) to look at. On the freeway, the fender and the wheel-well trim were flapping almost off, so I exited and took the frontage road. While Yinmi looked at the damage, I called USAA. I was shaken up so he spoke with the agent while I tried to calm down. My blood pressure and heart rate were racing and I wear a Medic Alert. Yinmi was calm and told the agent that I needed time to process the hit and run since it was so close to the previous one. USAA started a claim, Yinmi put duct tape on the bumper and fender and I drove away. Everyone at Fix Auto from start to finish has been professional and kind; I've used them twice before. The irony is that I purposely got a reddish car because a lot of people are driving distracted or too fast or tail-gating or all three: I thought a reddish car would be more noticeable! I've driven long enough to know to keep a "cushion" around my cars to know where a safe spot is to pull out of the way. I didn't get that chance on Juneteenth: there was nowhere safe to avoid the guy who side-swiped me because he too was getting hit by the guy in the lane to his right. Drivers: just slow down and stop tailgating! If you're driving that close to the car in front of you, don't swerve into other cars: take the hit and learn a lesson about tail-gating. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT; with my health issues, I could have had a heart attack and/or stroke. I've been dealing with a bad heart for years. The dude who hit us apparently forgot that there are cameras on that part of the freeway where the SF Flyover lane/ 580 / 80 / and 101 lanes split off! If/when he's caught, I get back my $1,000 deductible; same thing with the El Cerrito parking lot hit & run. My USAA claim agent told me to get a Police Incident report so he can request the camera footage so I did. I really need that $1,000 because I'm on food stamps. Thank goodness my car is paid for and it looks better than when I bought it used. I joked with Justine yesterday when I picked up my PERFECTLY repaired car that I was afraid to give them a 5-Star review because they might be too busy if someone else hit my car! I was kidding: I want people to know that if you want your car to look new again, go to Fix Auto on San Pablo near Ashby. IMHO, they are the best auto repair shop in the area! My car was repaired in 6 days, painted, aligned, washed and the tires W-D 40'd or whatever it took to make them look new. Second time doing business with Fix Auto, and I could not be a bigger fan. The front end of my car was damaged in an accident (not my fault!). We took the insurance offer that involved keeping the car to Eugene and asked if he could fix it for that price. He said yes and gave us an estimate that was less, allowing a cushion that we used to have him fix wear-related issues not related to the accident. Great communication as we went, and the result is a car that looks like new and is in better shape than before the accident. I drove too close to the pillar in my garage and scratched the side of my car. It looked horrible. I checked out the body repair shop closest to me, which was Fix It on San Pablo Ave., Berkeley. They could have told me I needed the side of my car replaced at about $3000 to $7000 but they said bring it in and don't worry we will take care of it. They rubbed out the scratches and even without applying paint My old Subaru is beautiful. These guys know what they're doing and they will not rip you off. I highly recommend them. When I took it in, I was given a 3 day time frame in which the work would be completed. Over the time during which work was being done, I received regular texts apprising me of work progress. I had some repair work done at Fix Auto Berkeley. The cost seemed reasonable, as did the timeline for repairs. However, subsequently, the timeline kept getting pushed back; finally, as I had travel scheduled--that I had rescheduled twice to accommodate the timeline getting pushed back, I said I needed my car back. They told me that they would complete the repairs by the EOD that day. I picked my car up and everything looked fine, but the first time I got on the freeway to drive the car, about 30 minutes into the drive heard a loud scraping noise coming from the car. I pulled over as soon as I could, alarmed and not sure what was going on, and discovered that my entire guard in the front, and in the back where they had done repairs, was coming off. Not only was it completely torn because it had been scraping on the road while I was driving, but also it had scraped up the entire front of the car where I had just spent over $4,000 to get it repaired. Looking through my car, I found what seemed to be leftover and used nails, nuts, and bolts on the backseat and in the trunk of my car, which to me suggested that they hadn't put the guard back on securely and that they had forgotten to put that part of the car back together. The entire guard is ruined, the front of my car is scraped up, the car is not driveable, and I am going to be out extra money for car rentals, a tow, and a significant amount of my time. When I called them to tell them about the issue and request that they a) fix the car and the damage caused by the faulty repair; and b) request that they cover the cost of renting a vehicle for the time that the repair would take; and c) tell them that this issue caused me to miss out on an event with family and a ticketed event, where tickets I paid for went unused, they were rude, cut me off, and said they wouldn't do anything until I they saw the car and I could prove that it was the shops's fault. Again: THE SCREWS FROM THE GUARD WERE IN THE BACK OF MY CAR. Please consider taking your car somewhere else. read more

I had my vehicle repaired at Fix Auto Berkeley in November 2023. When I went in for the estimate I specifically mentioned the washer fluid reservoir/bottle needed repair as it had drained when the issue happened. They said they would make sure to review during repair as I mentioned it after the estimate came through as well. Imagine my surprise when I took my car for standard service, and the technician noted that the washer fluid reservoir was cracked. The message didn't come on because of where the crack was in relation to the sensor. I'm super mad that even though I specifically mentioned this on multiple occasions (estimate and drop-off), they didn't take care of this, and now it will cost me $306 to repair. I gladly recommend Fix Auto Berkeley to anyone who is looking for great service , and i don't say this lightly. Fix Auto goes far and beyond of the expectations of the clients. To start Yimi (who by the way speaks Spanish) and Justine are very dawn to earth people and immediately make you feel welcome. They are consistently on top of every single aspect of the whole process. I felt totally taken cared of when they explained to me the process and the specifics of the job done to my car which by the way was returned almost like new. This is a long overdue review - Fix Auto Berkeley was able to see me the same day to look at my car after an accident and I was able to drop off my car that same week after they got the parts in. The day I dropped off my car, I came when they opened, since I am not from the area and needed to be at work that afternoon. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. I had to fix my front bumper because of an accident, they finished it the same day I dropped it off - I dropped my car off in the morning when they opened and they finished in the afternoon. I would say the bumper was 90% attached because it was still kind of popping out a bit, from what I was told this was how it is since I did not go through insurance and I was paying out of pocket. Also, my headlights seemed foggy after the work done on my car, but I was told that it was the lighting from the sun - I monitored it that evening and the next day in the shade, it was not from the sunlight because it was still foggy. Overall, I would say the experience was 3 - 3.5 stars. read more

So, as they say, I was "hit by a stationary pole" and wiped out the entire drivers' side of my 2012 CRV! I immediately contacted my insurance company for a quote to get it repaired. I already knew they would do a great job on my vehicle. I arranged an appointment in advance with the technician, Dino. Sure enough, he ensured my satisfaction by making my vehicle look better than it did when I brought it in. He worked seamlessly with my insurance company, and the rental car company. He also ensured I experienced as little disruption in my life as possible with this car repair. The shop even gave me the same warranty that the insurance company's "preferred" shop would've given me. I was getting my front bumper/grill replaced and some minor scratches on top of the hood removed after the neighbor backed into my car. Initially I had gone to another body shop on Durant Ave then decided on Fix Auto. They're friendly and knowledgeable and I didn't get the feeling either one of them was pressuring me. Bruce even went out of his way to get an OEM grill replacement without overpaying and notified me the same day! My parked car was hit, caving in my front bumper. I went to Fix, and Bruce quickly got me an estimate, which was very reasonably priced. They were able to order a new bumper and prep it without needing to hold onto my car during that time, so I was only without my car for less than 36 hours! It has taken a few years to write this review, but all these years later, I am STILL needing to share that this place was amazing!! Dino in particular was a fabulous help, and actually listened to and addressed my concerns. After my Mazda 3 hood met the backend of a Highlander (which suffered no damage at all), I had not one but three crappy experiences with another auto body shop in Richmond that continued to not do simple things...like repaint the hood without over 20 specks of lint scattered across it. After having them redo the job a couple times, I told my insurance we were firing them and moving elsewhere. Cue Fix Auto, a shop I'm really bummed is so far away now, as I currently live in OR! But, Dino was kind, receptive, and knew his game. The office crew was kind and informative. They took about 2 mins to look over my car to come up with a ln estimate for my insurance company. A person came out and took like 5 pictures. No one looked at it thoroughly and they sent us in our way with the car (they didn't keep it to look more thoroughly). They came back with a $4000 estimate that sounded very low. We took it to another more reputable place that came back with a $16000 estimate! Will never go to Fix again. Stay away. read more
