I always get the coolest and most chill servers - theyre great to chat w throughout my meal. Its nice and moody vibes. They curated a home-y feeling here. Food is delish! Salty but yum

Who would imagine a converted warehouse space would become something people seem to flock to for awesome Asian cuisine. This industrial Asian restaurant exudes a unique blend of raw urban aesthetics and rich cultural ambiance. The atmosphere is defined by, dark metal fixtures, and open ceilings showcasing steel beams and ductwork, creating a modern, almost factory-like feel. The scent of sizzling woks, fragrant spices, and smoky grilled meats lingers in the air, mingling with the subtle undertone of soy, garlic, and chili. Sitting in the dining room and sipping on a wonderfully made drink from the bar, It's almost as if the aroma from the kitchen is curling its fragrant fingers around your senses and whispering sweet, savory nothings to your hunger-stricken soul." What's done right here is the menu is completely customizable, so the plants can party as hard as the meat does. I opened with the crispy veggie spring rolls followed by a finale of spicy chicken with noodles, the night is complete. Cheers!

Tons of dim sum!
Hayley P.

Had dinner here after a work event - party of 4 and came in at like 8 on a Tuesday. We had to wait like 20-25 minutes but it was well worth the wait. We ordered a bunch of dim sum and it was all delicious. Their crab Rangoon actually has crab in it! It was so good. I went for my tried and true entree of spicy beef noodles and she did not disappoint once again. And tons of leftovers like always. The staff is great here and the ambiance and is perfect for a date or group dinner. Parking has become a little bit trickier with the parking lot out back being pay to park and without actual parking lines so people can park wonky sometimes. Plenty of street parking though just off the main road. And parking decks.

I am Chinese and I can tell you this is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. What the f are these carrots, why is my bok choy bruised and overcooked, why is my white rice container only half full? Why is the sauce so watery? It's so easy to add a spoonful of flour to thicken it. This dish tastes like it was drowned in sugar and no other flavors. 30 dollars for this garbage, you cannot be serious.

We really enjoyed the food here! It's very fresh and you'll definitely have leftovers afterwards. The bartender Landon was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to choosing drinks for us. Love the atmosphere as well!!

Gin gimlet. Thanks, Lauren

Full disclosure: We sat at the bar. Lauren made us beautiful cocktails. We got intoxicated. Nonetheless, even in a semi-inebriated state, we could tell we were having really good food. Wife had peanut noodles that were delicious. I had the 5-star generals chicken which tasted great. The chicken was a tiny bit over but it's chicken breast...that's what you get. I'm not mad at it at all. Did I mention that Lauren got us drunk? We had a lovely time and will 100% be back. Also, good music by a live DJ and a lovely new space. No complaints.

I regularly come here now and this is definitely my casual asian restaurant of choice. You can actually come here casual or dressed up, and it's always lively inside. It's very packed on weekends, so make reservations or be prepared to wait. They also have a DJ who plays really great mixes! Last night's mixes were great. They have this cute painted private room for large parties if you want to celebrate something. Also don't pay for parking because they validate it inside. My favorite dish here is actually the chicken fried rice. It's one of my favorite fried rice dishes if not my number one and I get it every time. I also ask for a side of yum yum sauce and pour it over. Second place goes to the heat seeker shrimp. I love that they have a featured menu list that is constantly changing with food and drinks. I will say their drinks are amazing. I've tried so many different cocktails in cute cups and garnishes from this place alone and I'm always excited to see what's featured. Last night's featured drink was a matcha lychee margarita and we loved it. From the featured food menu, we got red curry chicken and chili garlic noodles. The red curry chicken was soooooo good I really hope they permanently add the dish to the menu. Everyone loved it. Their portions are huge and their prices are amazing. You will be stuffed and have great drinks and not even spend that much.

The place was crowded but there was no wait. I got seated immediately at a table near a column in the middle of the restaurant and Christy came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.

The bones feel nostalgic, but the overall vibe is current and lively. It's the kind of place that feels familiar but still cool. Service Service is where things really clicked. Our server knew the menu inside out and guided us through it with confidence. Every recommendation landed. It also felt like one of those menus where it would be hard to order poorly. The Food The menu leans comfort food with a modern edge, and it's done really well across the board. We started with a Caesar salad with dill pickle dressing, which sounds like it shouldn't work but absolutely does. Bright, fresh, and just different enough to be interesting without trying too hard. The beet salad was also excellent, clean flavors and well balanced. Then came the pimento cheese with fried crackers. This might have been the sleeper hit. The crackers are dangerously good. Simple idea, executed perfectly, and hard to stop eating. For mains, the fried chicken was solid but didn't stand out the same way the starters did. The short rib pot pie, on the other hand, was exactly what you want from a dish like that. Rich, flaky, and deeply comforting. Overall Poole's is the kind of place where everything feels considered, from the space to the service to the food. It's approachable, well executed, and very easy to enjoy.

We opted for a reservation at the bar, and we enjoyed excellent service from Brittany and Kylie. They were attentive and very detailed with the excellent service that we have found out is the norm in every one of Ashley Christensen's restaurants. Our starter of roasted beets had an incredible blend of buttermilk blue cheese with white balsamic thyme, pickled pumpkin, and Marcona almonds. So yummy. Then my husband and I shared the Ricotta Gnocchi that we agree is the BEST gnocchi we have ever had the privilege of eating. So light in spite of a duck bolognese being the sauce. Fried rosemary sparked my home chef mind for future meals! We also shared the Brussels sprout upon Brittany's recommendation. One of the most unique preparations on Brussels sprouts ever with oyster mushrooms and a sherry cream sauce. We typically pass on dessert, but the description of their Pear Tart Tatin coupled with Kylie's verbal description hooked us and we were thrilled to enjoy every bite of the hazelnut praline ice cream that is part of this beautiful dessert.

Barry's Cafe absolutely needs to make a reasonable profit, but it also needs to provide a reasonable value to its Customers. Here's where Barry's fell short: after taxes and credit-card fees, my burrito and beverage was over $20. With a mandated 18% tip, I walked out of the door having spent $23.95 . All in all, I felt it was a very poor value. There was nothing sufficiently compelling about Barry's Cafe to make me return.

A Classic Diner Experience in Downtown Raleigh…read more Anyone who follows me knows two things I love very much: breakfast and diners (along with other short-order restaurants). I definitely found a gem in Glenwood South that immediately reminded me of the classic diners I grew up with in New Jersey. For readers unfamiliar with Jersey diners: think a no-nonsense, sit-down restaurant serving breakfast all day, great coffee, generous portions, and a menu built around eggs, griddle items, comfort food, and attentive table service. Tucker Street Diner delivers that same spirit--just set in the fashionable Glenwood South neighborhood rather than along a highway. Tucker Street Diner is located within the Smoky Hollow mixed-use development in the Glenwood South area of downtown Raleigh. Smoky Hollow is a large, modern complex featuring retail, restaurants, Class-A office space, structured parking, and residential units. The diner occupies ground-level retail space in the office building at 421 North Harrington Street, right at the corner of the pedestrian promenade along Tucker Street. The restaurant is designed as a modern American diner with nostalgic retro touches--checkerboard floors and glossy booths--blended with contemporary comfort and urban flair. It clearly evokes classic diner aesthetics while catering to a diverse downtown crowd. The menu focuses on classic American diner fare: all-day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, specialty comfort food, and blue-plate specials. Breakfast options include pancakes, eggs, bacon, burritos, and creative dishes such as breakfast burritos and open-face sandwiches with gravy. Desserts, milkshakes, and coffee/espresso drinks are also available. I visited early on a Friday morning during New Year's week. I was greeted warmly and quickly served a solid, classic diner cup of coffee (likely a medium roast). Even with limited office activity that morning, the diner still had a steady flow of customers. I ordered the chicken-fried steak with two sunny-side-up eggs, home fries, and rye toast. The steak was nicely breaded, and the white gravy--served on a separate plate--was rich and flavorful. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The home fries were cubed potatoes (different from the shredded style often found up north) and were very good. Large slices of buttered rye toast, topped with both grape and strawberry jelly, rounded out what was a very satisfying breakfast. Portions were generous for the price, and the overall value felt right for a downtown, full-service diner--especially given the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the service. The classic diner theme and attention to cleanliness extended even to the gender-neutral restrooms, one of which is accessible. The accessible restroom was occupied at the time, so I used the other; it was clean, pleasantly scented, and well stocked. In short, Tucker Street Diner feels like a Jersey diner dropped into a Southern downtown--comfort food, eggs, and gravy instead of biscuits--with a welcoming atmosphere and reliable execution. I left full, satisfied, and already planning a return visit.

Half of my food didn't come out when everyone else's did and even though it took about 2 minutes to get it, they still took all of it off my bill. That's how you do customer service! I'll definitely be back again if I'm in the area and try some different options!
