Dallas did my annual furnace inspection. He was very professional and personable. He recommended a vent cleaning and when I asked, he recommended Stanley Steemer. He checked my electrical box and it is setup for a surge protector. Dallas was very knowledgeable. I liked that. Morgan Condo read more

I had an emergency gas leak that required a gas line repair, and it was honestly one of the scariest and most nerve-wracking situations I've dealt with especially since it happened in the middle of freezing temperatures in January here in Ohio. We were without gas, heat, and warm water for the entire weekend, which made an already stressful situation even more frustrating and time-consuming. From the moment I called Five Star Home Services, I was met with urgency and care. The employee I spoke with over the phone immediately understood the seriousness of the situation and pushed me to the front of the line to ensure a technician arrived as quickly as possible. That alone brought a huge sense of relief during a very overwhelming moment. Austin arrived and was absolutely exceptional. He calmly assessed the situation, clearly explained my options, and worked diligently throughout the entire day to try to remedy the issue. When he realized the repair couldn't be fully completed on his own, he didn't hesitate to call for backup so additional help arrived to assist, and together they fully resolved the problem. As a single woman dealing with a major home repair, I was admittedly concerned about the possibility of being taken advantage of. That was absolutely not the case here. Everyone I interacted with was knowledgeable, sincere, and genuinely focused on finding the best and most appropriate solution and not the most expensive one. Austin remained professional, patient, and empathetic throughout the entire process, which made a stressful situation far more manageable. I highly recommend Five Star Home Services and would strongly encourage others to use their services. This team showed urgency, integrity, and true professionalism when it mattered most read more

I am writing this review to warn potential customers about Five Star Home Services severe lack of quality control, proper technician training, and poor management dispatch practices. A technician from Five Star was called by my neighbor to address a drainage backup on shared piping in our building. Before starting, the technician explicitly acknowledged that using a stiff cable could break the pipe and that a flexible cable should be used instead. Despite this, he ran the drain snake in the wrong direction--into my adjacent unit, where there was nothing more than a slow drain--and proceeded to break my pipe under my sink. Rather than escalating the mistake to a senior supervisor, the technician attempted a temporary fix using parts purchased from Home Depot. He installed the replacement improperly and left my unit with an active leak that did not exist before he arrived. To make matters worse, the original drainage issue on my neighbor's side remained completely unresolved. When the company was notified that their technician had caused property damage, leaks on both sides of the shared wall and failed to solve the initial problem, Five Star's dispatch made the baffling decision to send the exact same technician back to the job site a second time. Sending a technician who clearly lacked the expertise for this type of repair--not once, but twice--demonstrates a concerning disregard for workmanship, customer safety, and property protection. Leaving a homeowner with an active plumbing leak caused by your own staff is unacceptable. I strongly advise against hiring Five Star Home Services for any complex or shared plumbing issues. read more

Eddie was friendly and responsive to our questions about the service on our system. His excellent customer service was typical of our experience with 5-Star. Very happy with our service contract. read more

Everyone that I have talked with on the phone and every service tech that has been to my house has been phenomenal! All of them have been friendly, helpful, respectful and on time. I highly recommend 5 Star Home Services. I'm a very happy customer. read more

The Carrier heating/ac system stopped working. So far two techs have spent hours on it and still not fixed. So far they've replaced the main inverter board, the thermostat. The latest guess is it needs a new compressor. I don't really think they have a clue and are just "shotgunning " replacement parts. Waiting on them now to tell me when they will be back to replace the compressor. Both the Carrier system and Five Star service sucks. read more

Scammers! These people will steal you blind! Will not return calls for service complaints. They do not live up to their warranty, which is clearly printed on their estimates. read more

Our Tech Eddie was wonderful. Five Star is always great. Eddie, pointed out some things that we might want to do in the future and gave us a quote. I don't see a time when we would ever need to change to another company. read more

Five Star always sends us professional service people and Baryley was great in finding the problem and fixing it in a timely manner. Thank you 5 star. read more

we are thankful to choose five star for our complete furnace/ac replacement. The techs Christopher and Alex arrived promptly and we are so happy with their installation. We highly recommend Five Star for your heating and ac needs. Thank you Christopher and Alex. read more

We purchased a new AC and furnace from Five Star Home Services in 2019. The AC stopped working in the fall of 2025. We called five Star home services this spring 2026 and had them assess the air conditioning problem. They claim to have a 10-year warranty on the AC unit when they sell it to you. In reality the only thing that is covered are the parts. The tech said we needed a cleaning, and a new capacitor. Once the work was done he said we also needed a contactor, and then he said we needed a new fan motor. All of these parts were covered under warranty, yet we received an invoice for over $1,900. So for a 2 hour service call we were charged $1,900 for labor. Which breaks down to $950 an hour to replace warrantied parts. Stay away from Five Star Home Services, they are scammers in my opinion. I wish I could give them 0 stars!!! read more

I had my yearly AC maintenance appt! DJ came out and he was very knowledgeable and thorough. He recommended some things to keep my AC running for as ling as possible! There was no pressure and I would recommend Five Star. read more

Sneaky advertising practices, high markup on parts, exorbitant prices for small repairs! They also changed my review from 3 stars to five stars when they posted it. They advertise under fake local names to make you think you are looking at a small local business. read more

If it were cheap, it would be a good deal. Unfortunately, they are not cheap. The work was done, the customer service was responsive, but the price was not justified due to a lack of attention to detail. For $5,000 they could probably take the time to loosen the brackets before yanking on the downspouts. They could put the dirt below the turf pieces instead of the other way around, and they could show up to their appointments, or at least provide a phone call if they cannot. read more

The service was outstanding. The service technician did an excellent job. He was very thorough and explained everything he did and why. I would recommend him every time. I am not happy with Five-star Heating and Cooling. They installed and sold my heating system but then charged me for a service call even though the system was under warranty. I also was informed that the part that was replaced was recalled almost two years ago and Five Star was aware but didn't inform the customer. That is not acceptable. I don't think they should charge me for a service call when they should have installed the part and charged the service call to Amanda the manufacturer initially. read more

No show for my appointment - waited five hours but no tech showed up. Received this text late in the day "Hello, this is Five Star Home Services, I hate to say we had an issue with making it to your appointments today and I am so sorry that you were not informed in a proper manner. We would love for a chance to make this right. Can we get you rescheduled?" What a waste of my time. read more

Five Star was excellent to deal with. Brandon was a pleasure and very knowledgeable! Unfortunately we have to replace our furnace, but we're having them do that work as well. They'll be installing next day and will update my review; however, I have nothing but a positive experience with Five Star and Brandon so far. read more

Although they did fix the issue. no power. the upsell and fear tatics were beyond the pail. recommend repairing and even replacing entire unit based on no existent problems on an 11 year old HVAC?!!. After having four new AC units installed in May 2024, I've had many issues with this company including: immediate warrantee service on two of the units, they forgot to contact me to schedule the seasonal inspections, and tried to upsell me on compressor saver kits after installation. Worst of all, I caught them deceitfully recommending unneeded repairs and replacement of several items (unrelated to the installed AC units). For example: Plumber recommended replacement of two water heaters saying that two of them were 21 years old when I have had water heaters replaced all water heaters within the last 4-8 years. The technician recommended installation of smoke/carbon monoxide detectors saying that they were missing in all of the bedrooms. My son and I personally installed new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors in every bedroom less than three weeks prior to the inspections. Also, extremely overpriced. read more

Five Star was the first electrical service to contact me after I started reaching out. They had someone here for troubleshooting the day (Friday) after I called them. After troubleshooting, and confirming it wasnt urgent, the same technician came out the following Tuesday and conducted electrical repairs, which included running new wiring and adding a new breaker to our circuit box. The tech Brandon was courteous and thoughtful, as well as quick and competent, and the repairs were done in about an hour. Now outlets that weren't working previously are working again. I will be using 5 Star for future repairs. read more

My gas furnace wouldn't stay lit. The tech knew immediately the problem based on my description. He spent twenty minutes documenting why my 12 year old furnace should be replaced even though it was under warranty by another company. He spent two minutes cleaning and charged $368. Total scam! read more

fix gas leak, gas utility turned off gas service util leak is repaired. Plumber technician showed up on time and was very polite and respectful. Their solution was very expensive and involved drywall damage to access piping. Called out another company and they fixed the leak w no drywall damage and less than half the price. read more

Matt was very professional, pleasant and did an excellent job would use this company. Again

Scheduled and the night before they cancelled. Rescheduled for following week. They said 8am-1pm window. They no showed. I called in at 2:50pm to speak with a manager and they could not speak with me until the next day. Company does not care about customers and has no respect to even show up. read more

No idea how this company has good reviews. Quoted me $500 for replacing a shower faucet valve stem and $297 for fixing a leaking toilet. Got the work done by one of their competitors for $282 total. I understand companies can charge different prices, but this isn't good faith pricing. If you're using Five Star for your plumbing work, you're likely paying about 2-3 times too much...in other words, getting ripped off. read more

Five Star Home Services showed up to my elderly mothers house after she booked with another company. She tried to explain to the employee that she had someone else coming to take a look later that day. The employee convinced her to come in and "take a look" just to point out the obvious and charge her a 99 dollar diagnostics fee that was not previously disclosed to her. She is disabled and on a very fixed income. 99 dollars may not be a lot to everyone but for her thats the difference between having dinner each night or not. No high quality business would resort to elder abuse just to keep the lights on. If you are looking for maintenance, keep looking. read more

Themen who came to check our water pump were knowledgeable, friendly and kind. They found our problem quickly. They were willing to work with us including waiting for our son to do the trenching part of our water line repair because we couldn't afford the whole job. They scheduled themselves to finish the repairs in a few days. Thank you Five Star. Such repairs are hard to face but you made this less painful. read more

BEWARE - THINGS HAVE CHANGED -- I have used this company for years and years. They always use to be precise, honest, and competitive. But unfortunately something has changed drastically and I will never be using them again. We had an emergency with our furnace and they came right out on a Sunday. Upon them diagnosing the problem, they quoted me over 1900 for a service to fix the issue, and also quoted me over 7700 for more future service on the furnace. Mind you, this house is 900 sq ft and a brand new furnace installation is half this price. My husband asked about the ridiculous cost and the tech told him its a lot cheaper if we were to do it ourselves, so we asked for the part numbers we needed. He told us he does not have the part numbers available. We were not happy with the exchange so we reluctantly called a competitor, HVAC MECHANICAL SERVICES (614)286-7682 (ps-call them and thank me later). They came out the next day and fixed the issue for $584. I called the manager at Canal Heating and Cooling and I explained how we were happy, returning customers and are very upset with the outrageous quotes, the lack of transparency on part numbers and labor rates, and the over inflated future maintenance costs. I also mentioned his competitors rates and thoroughness. I asked for a justification prior to writing this review to see if there was a mistake. He simply said, we use flat rates, are a bigger company and the smaller companies (his competitors that we uses) can charge a lot less, and that he offers the warranties on the parts he replaces; he also goes on to say that if we were to move forward with the future maintenance, by the time they got to the heat exchange ($3300), his techs would then suggest a new system. Does all this sound like a honest company; charging a long- term loyal customer 4x more than his competitor with no justification. Then trying to quote over 7700 in maintenance on equipment that costs a fraction of that to replace brand new with a manufactures warranty. This company use to have morals and loyal customers, but it seems since it has switched to five star, those days are over. I will never do business with them again. Doing right by the customer, being honest and transparent, and not price gauging goes a long way. read more

I bought an ac in 2019. In 2024, during a terrible heat wave, my ac stopped working. On 6/22/2024, I called the installer, Pickerington Heating and Cooling (which is now 5 Star Home Service) for help and was told I'd have to wait until 7/4/2024 to have a tech come out to repair the unit. This is ridiculous and completely unacceptable! 0/10, do not recommend! read more

Five Star did as much as it could. Both of my problems would be very expensive to fix, which is probably why the seller (I just bought the house a few months ago) didn't fix them. I haven't decided what to do, but I appreciated the tech's honesty. read more
