Having just moved to San Antonio, I was looking for a reputable dry cleaner and 5 Star on Huebner had good reviews on other sites. If you join their club, you receive a $10 off coupon on your 1st order, so I shipped the dry cleaning off with my husband to drop off and sure enough, as promised, one day later it was ready. In the meantime the coupon arrived in my email, which I presented upon pick up just a few moments ago. The woman behind the counter would not honor it and stated that I should look at the sign behind the register that says coupons are only good on incoming orders. Well great! My husband dropped off the laundry and I had the coupon on my phone. No where on the app or in the coupon does it say that the coupon has to be presented when you drop off orders. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location. We went out of our way just to use the coupon. We won't be back. Bait and switch. read more

This place is horrible. Every single time they break a button on my shirts. When I return shirts for the button, I'll go back to pick up 4 days later. The shirts are in a bag but the buttons are not fixed. They put little to no starch on the shirts. Yea, I know they wash them with the starch but it sucks. Today when I complained about them braking buttons and not fixing the one I returned, the guy tells me, yea they do that to mine too. I asked if that's acceptable to him. Shrugs his shoulders. I brought in a formal knee-length dress to have spot-cleaned in order to wear it for a wedding. When I came to pick it up on a Saturday, the door was locked with a note that stated "Back in 5 minutes" even though it was right in the middle of their business hours (8am-5pm). It took about 10 minutes for an employee to come unlock the door, and then he proceeded to take another 10 minutes looking for a garment for a woman in line in front of me which he couldn't find despite all of his searching. I was next in line, and after receiving my garment (which I pre-paid for) I checked the dress and the spots were still everywhere on it! NO cleaning was apparent and I was appalled that the garment looked exactly as I had brought it in. I questioned him and he proceeded to tell me that despite the fact that EVERY SINGLE SPOT was still on the dress, it had been "cleaned" and therefore he COULD NOT GIVE ME A REFUND!!!!!! I have yet to speak to management (since he was the only employee working that day) but when I do you can be sure that they will get an earful on my experience. BOTTOM LINE: Not only was this business unfriendly and unhelpful, but they refused to give a refund when clearly they had not performed the job they said they would perform. In addition, they appear understaffed and therefore you could wait in line for a good 10-15 minutes before even being helped. OMG NO!!! Fourth trip back for repeat cleaning of stains they never attempted to clean or jackets they never pressed. They DO NOT give refunds and/or put a sticker on the clothes that says they tried (although you can tell it was never attempted). Took in 15 pants and 5 sports coats and only one sport coat and 3 pants were done correctly the first time. I'm going back to my old cleaners... I was hoping they were a step up.... I have to take most to another cleaner to correct what they didn't do or what they did badly!!! read more

They misplaced clothes and then had the nerve to be rude and unprofessional. They did not take accountability for their multiple errors.

The first few times I went in, the service was decent. Nothing exceptional but it was satisfactory. The last time I went however, a pair of $80 Banana Republic pants went missing. The employee took my information and asked how old the pants were. I gave him an honest answer and said they were roughly a year old. I had to wait 2 full months before the manager FINALLY told the employee that they would reimburse me for only 50% of the cost of my pants. Apparently, "the life expectancy of a pair of pants is 2 years." Therefore, my pants had depreciated in value by 50%. I was not satisfied by this reimbursement because the pants were in great condition. So I tried to speak to the manager but she refused to take my calls. Today, after she had her assistant tell me that she wasn't there, I went into the dry cleaners and had the employee call her. She was miraculously available. So I tried called her again from my phone while I was at the store but instead, got to speak to the owner. The owner was truly horrendous to speak with. He was disrespectful, rude, and downright insulting. I tried to speak with him about my issue with not getting a full reimbursement (especially since the exact same pants are selling on the Banana Republic website for the exact same amount I paid a year ago). He mocked me when I asked for a full reimbursement and said that there was absolutely no way he was willing to work with me on the reimbursement. When I told him I could have easily lied about when I got the pants, he started accusing me of lying about the pants even being a year old. The disturbing conversation with the owner was the cherry on top during this horrible experience with Five Star Cleaners. My uncles own many cleaners in the Houston area and when I told them about my experience, they were shocked that the owner and the rest of his staff lost a paying customer for a pair of $80 pants - especially since the fault lied with them. Needless to say, I will no longer be giving any business to this or any other Five Star Cleaners. If you're reading this review, I recommend that you look to a different dry cleaners. And ask about their "life expectancy policy" for clothing! read more

+1 on the other reviewers. This business is not consumer friendly and had a bad experience with them. I dropped off a whole bag of shirts to get washed and ironed, and I handed the coupon to the attendant, as their policy requires, for all shirts to be cleaned at $1.69 each. When I returned a few days later, I was surprised that they were charging me over $50, when the charge should have been just over $30. When I inquired, they hadn't applied the coupon because they said I had not taken any of the items to get drycleaned, and the attendant showed me the small print on the coupon that said you had to have at least one item drycleaned. She said I should have just requested to have one of the shirts drycleaned or take a pair of pants so I could qualify for this coupon. While they were technically correct, I simply dislike a business that hides behind fine print technicalities to make a quick buck out of frequent customers. The attendant could have simply charged me during checkout for one of the shirts at dryclean price and honor the coupon for the rest of them. Instead, she chose to just point out my error and charged me the additional $20 and wished me a nice day. There are many different ways in which they could have handled this better. When I handed the coupon, it was obvious I was expecting to use it. They had my contact information on the bag. They could have called me to clarify, or simply put one of the shirts to dryclean, or simply honor the coupon. They could have also given me a courtesy discount. They sure know I'm a frequent customer. Instead, they simply threw the coupon away, because it was no longer with the clothes. What is more disturbing is that I had read reviews similar to mine on other sites and other locations, and I chose to dismiss them, so that's on me. Needless to say I will not be using their services anymore. I would much rather pay $5 per shirt somewhere else than give them any more of my business. This is not a way to run a business. read more

My god, this might be the worst dry cleaning place in the history of the business itself. They gave my pants to the wrong people and then gave me an attitude about it. You might as well just take your chances and clean your clothes in a sink, because at least there you'll know you'll get them back. 1 Star. terrible. read more
