I went the first time on opening day, and it left a lot to be desired. So much so that I didn't go back until a couple of weeks ago. My girlfriend invited me to go to karaoke. They do not serve food, but they make some amazing cocktails. The owners take pride in their spirits, and if it's not too busy, they love telling people the story of the building. It's located in downtown Norristown, with plenty of parking located right behind the building. I started with the cosmo and ended with the lemon drop. Both were wonderful. My husband got one of their drink specials called the Bee's Kiss (rum, half-n-half, honey simple syrup, edible paper bee garnish). It was delicious and reminded me a little bit of drinking the milk from cereal, like honey smacks. Karaoke was fun. While I didn't sing, they had a lot of talent and was a great crowd. read more

Interesting spot, I wasn't sure about it from the outside as I don't like cramped spaces...but the second I went inside I was convinced. It's a big space, new but with a very relaxed feel. We went during happy hour and it was virtually empty at the time so I'd like to come back when it's busier but it was nice being able to chat and get an idea of the place. They have great cocktails and little snacks if needed but no kitchen. They do have nights with karaoke or yoga. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Great reuse of a 19th Century firehouse in the heart of Norristown, now a museum and distillery for premium vodka, whiskey, gin, and special batches of other unique blends. Three story open barroom where once horse drawn firewagons were housed, with upper floor sleeping room for those once on duty and a rear space full of stainless steel distilling tanks and vats. Fascinating place I wish I had time to explore with a knowledgeable guide. Maybe next time, but tonight we were there for a political fundraiser for a local county official seeking reelection. Judging by his choice of party venue, the open bar and the look of everyone present to support him and wish him success, he has a strong chance of re-election. Even the local congressman was there to wish him well. With speeches and a good buffet (and that open bar) there was opportunity for limited sipping and light dining in the midst of the very loud din of conversation between the soapboxing. The distillery itself remained background to an excellent soiree. Will definitely return for more tasting and a tour. read more

Great establishment with awesome drinks and bartenders. They have a vast assortment of cocktails centered around their made on site spirits. John & his wife were very welcoming and took time to tell us about the building, their spirits, how they came up with the name and their future plans. Love the fact that they kept the firehouse them. The building used to be The Humane Fire Company. Lots of memorabilia on the walls telling the history of the fire company. Had an absolutely amazing time today when we stopped in. We came from Pittsburgh for a weekend trip to the area, and this place popped up as something to do. I'm a huge fan of local distilleries, so we figured why not pop in. We expected to get a drink, maybe buy a bottle, and move on to the next thing. We walked in and were welcomed like old friends! Our quick stop ended up being a few hours, we toured the building and the facilities and spent a long time bonding with everyone. Also - the drinks were on point! I am so excited to be adding the gin to my stock at home and can't wait to share the rum with my husband! I love this place. It is a historical firehouse that has been transformed into a unique neighborhood bar. The owners are friendly, accommodating, and passionate about what they do. John, the owner, is a true mixologist who makes more than a drink; he makes magic potions (Ben rocks bartending, too)! On nice days the big bay doors are open and you truly feel like one of the locals. They will even have a food kitchen soon, but until then, you can order something to be delivered. Held an informal 30th birthday party for my son with about 20 guests -friends and family. The ambience of teh place is fun, interesting and historic but also contemporary - not stuff. Honestly, I'm leaving a star to see what they do next, but it was a fun place to see! Some work friends decided to check out the distillery. First off, John the owner was working the bar. Extremely friendly and sociable. Very cool to talk with. He went through their 3 spirits and gave us the story on each along with a small taste. I am no connoisseur of alcohol, but with all three, they were amazingly smooth to me. The vodka and the white whisky (whiskey?) went right down with almost no burn. And I'm not a gin fan at all (pine trees?!) but their gin with additional flavorings was pretty tasty. We each ordered one drink and they all were quite good. I think we would have stayed for more, but we had thought they had food on the premises. Apparently they're working on that, so it was off to dinner. read more

I've been meaning to come here for a long time. Unfortunately, whenever I think about "where to go out tonight", Norristown never comes to mind. Finally did it. So glad I did. The bartender immediately poured me free tastings of their liquors. All were good. I was especially impressed with the gin, which did not taste like pine needles, but instead Rosemary, Thyme, and Black Pepper. I got a Tuscan Mule (Moscow Mule with gin instead of vodka). Went before COVID19 lockdowns and was impressed by the quality and taste of the spirits, when I was able to try most/all of them in a Sampler flight where I could have mini-shots. Definitely a cool vibe and worth bringing a date there. Since it was a relatively quiet afternoon, got to listen to great story from owner/founder of the establishment about where he got the name. Personal faves for sipping straight-up were the "Blood Orange Liqueur" and the "Maple Bourbon Butter Pecan Flavored Rum" for sipping. The "Lavender Absinthe" was definitely interesting, but probably used best in a mixed-drink. Supporting local establishments is more important now than ever and if your budget still includes nights out at bars, you won't be disappointed if you try them. read more

Visited for the first time yesterday. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the old firehouse. The cocktails were delicious and well made by our bartender. You can tell the high quality of the spirits used and they are reasonably priced. There was a good jazz band playing and the ambience was laid back and relaxing. John, the owner, introduced himself and we had a nice conversation. It's a great space and he's doing more with the other two floors which we will definitely be coming back to check out. Couldn't thank the owners more for such warm and welcoming hospitality. And the awesome tour of the distillery and it's extensive history. Which will only grow more history thanks to its owners and their beautiful vision. (Of course their spirits and cocktails were more than worth it, we wouldn't think of leaving without a bottle of their white whiskey) We could not have ended such a perfect day any better. I've been wanting to check out Five Saints since I heard about its opening and finally checked it out over the weekend. I've been a resident in Norristown for almost a decade now and excited to see places like this popping up in the area. Being a converted firehouse definitely had a cool factor and especially with the ability to open the garage door to the street. We met John, the owner, Will, the distiller, and 2 bartenders, all who were knowledgable and fantastic. I had a moscow mule, the rooftop lemonade, and specialty coffee drink - all delicious. This place is awesome, their products are awesome and their owners and staff are awesome. The space is very open with plenty of room to hang out and play games. I love that it used to be a fire station with such rich history (I highly recommend taking the tour). John (the owner) personally gives each tour and it is, by far, the most fun distillery tour I've been on to date. He's incredibly knowledgeable about his craft as well as the history of Norristown. You could literally not even drink or be from PA and still find his tour fun. It's also nice to know that the person you're speaking with isn't just a hired tour guide. He really calls the shots. From the second we stepped in, all of the staff was super friendly and offering us water and popcorn. At the end of it all, we were speaking with John's wife who was wonderful and if we didn't have to leave we could've spoken to her for hours. Absolutely delightful venue with great staff. Great place! The staff is awesome folks including the owner (John) who is there often and always chatting with customers. Karaoke, live bands, even yoga on Saturday mornings. Ok now the spirits.... I have to hand it to Five Saints, they really offer an all around excellent product line. The Gin is my favorite, I'm a gin drinker by habit, but people who usually hate Gin should give their Gin a turn - you might be converted. Everything is just well done. The mixed house cocktails deliver. Not too sweet or overly done, nicely balanced. I can't neglect to mention the fact that the bar is beautiful. The whole Distillery is in an old firehouse and they really did an excellent job restoring the interior and respecting the history. I look forward to when the second floor opens for food. The atmosphere and employees great, but the cocktails were unimaginative. Most of them had lemon/lime or ginger beer. I'd like to see different ingredients or seasonal cocktails like a hot toddy or spiked hot chocolate. It's a great place and the owner was really friendly, but that was something I noticed. The tour was great. The owner told you about the history behind the firehouse and the process of distilling. It was really relaxed and informal. Loved it! The drinks were amazing too! We had the whiskey Collins, mojito, and Tuscan Mule. Tuscan Mule is a must have. Their Tuscan "style" gin is unique and even became a favorite of my non-gin loving husband! If your hungry there is always a food truck outside until they open the restaurant. Take a chance on this place, you will NOT be disappointed. My husband and I were excited to try out this seemingly cool spot in Norristown. An historic firehouse. Sounds cool. Unfortunately, it's still located on Main Street in Norristown. Which means you shouldn't be too surprised when a random, um, "lady" yells through the open window to ask us for money. As a former city dweller, I quipped that it "added character". That really didn't detract from our visit. Since we visited shortly after their opening, their drink list was limited. This, too, was fine. However, not making them correctly is not. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned. This is a simple, classic drink. However, a fruity, sweet concoction was served. They remade it. It turned out fine. My drink was just ok. Two stars=Meh. That's the best I can muster. We go out (for a drink) for two reasons: 1.) to enjoy a tasty cocktail and 2.) to enjoy atmosphere. I give them one star for each. read more
