Definitely not enough variety here. This would be a great lunch stop except for sauce options, they have 2 spicy sauces and 1 sweet sauce. I can't handle spicy, and the sweet sauce was waaayyyy too sweet, so where is the in between? I think if they expanded their menu a bit, they would have more potential. read more

YUM!!! We were driving through town and stopped here for some lunch. The concept of this establishment is exactly like Chipotle's cafeteria style, but with much more flavorful and interesting options. I can't pretend to remember which options I got, but I can say I tasted a bit of my husbands and mom's dish (we call got completely different things) and loved them all. Amazing value in Bozeman. Similar in setup to a Boloco or some Califorina burrito type places where you choose a base (e.g., brown rice, white rice or salad), protein, toppings, sauces, etc. Was excellent food at fast casual prices. Amazingly, it seemed to me that I was getting actual Brazilian food in Montana -- it's been many years since I've been to Brazil, so maybe i was fooled, but if so, they did a good job at it. Note that some of the stuff has a bit of a kick, so make sure to ask if you don't like spicy food like I do. read more

Don't go within an hour of closing, because they won't have any cheese bread ball things. The cheese bread balls get five stars. Very skimpy on the toppings. I'd pay a little more per bowl to not have to beg the high school kid working for more collard greens....and chicken....and sauce...and beans. All the way down the serving line. Unfortunately, the guys at the counter aren't wearing name tags, but they more than made up for it in service. I was a little skeptical. "Brazilian food? What's that like?" Well, at Five On Black, it means a bowl of rice topped with tender meat (I got the feijoada, a mixture of most of their meats plus bacon), a veggie, a sauce (the feijoada has its own sauce), farofa (a salty flour mixture), and a squeezed lime. I've been here a ton of times and I really enjoy it. It's affordable, filling, and yummy. If you like spice make sure you put some of their hot chili oil on your food. Depending on how much you put it can seriously get spicy! I would give it 5 stars for taste but the last 2 times I've been in it's been pretty disappointing. If you're running out of food then cook more! It is seriously unacceptable to run out of rice, proteins, limes(?!?) hours before you close. You guys either need to plan your ordering of food better or hire employees who cook and refill food as needed. You should also reiterate customer service to your employees as most of them just silently walk down the line scooping your food just waiting to be told what to do. read more

Found this place using Yelp as we went through Bozeman. What a great find! About 12 tables in a friendly counter-service setting. Lots of possibilities as you create your own bowl. Choose your base, protein, sauce, side, and topping. The feijoada (Brazilian stew) was very tasty on a romaine base! The tomato vinaigrette and lime juice were great additions. If we were in town longer, I would definitely be back. read more

Disappointing. The feijoada was dry and spicey like Mexican chili. I lived in the São Paulo area for several years and sampled a lot of feijoada and it was always more stew like with a succulent meaty flavor. Maybe it was the cook's day off. read more

We try to be adventurous when we eat out so this sounded great. Plus we like the "bowl" concept and we were looking for something healthy to counteract the all-carb hotel breakfast. Amazing food, great service. I got a brown rice tilapia bowl with the mango sauce and tomato chunks. The guy who helped me answered all my questions and even threw on some coconut sweet potato for me to try, and a bit of cilantro at my request. Best lunch I've had in a while. I love this Brazilian Bowl spot. They call it "fast food" but in more of the traditional sense - as in FAST! They have easy, delicious options, great variety... and don't even get me started on the Pao de Quiejo. HOLY! The prices are very reasonable. The only complaint I have is that it is right downtown making it virtually impossible to get to during lunch rush on an hour lunch unless you work downtown. Other than that, it's a good spot for a quick and healthy lunch. read more
