Nice modern minimalist moderately industrial venue playing a lot of 70s sounds. The service and cuisine was below average, the timid little lady so spoke softly and reluctantly informative that my partner and I gave up on trying to learn more about the food & flavors we were selecting to build our bowl, making the process feel less like exploring new cuisine and more like a facility line to produce unknown and unfamiliar sustenance. The staff being more informative and enthusiastic about serving more exotic recipes in a more familiar way may have produced a much more positive experience. I committed to the opporunity to taste new horizons though, and got the greens + rice base, feijoada, sweet potatoes, collard greens and black peas for sides, I was discouraged from getting sauce because the feijoada stew came with sauce, I looked back at the menu later and saw a "(sauce not included)" note on the sign, not sure what this means, but the final product came out a bit dry even with the cilantro, lime, smokey cassava powder, and spicy farofa. I'm convinced our meals had much greater potential, but with proper guidance (there's a reason most foreign foods are prepared for you by recipe in the kitchen I suppose). I also had no idea what specialty drinks were, assuming it was the canned coconut water and other bottled beverages in the fridge, after being seated I noticed the Tractor Beverage Farm to Fountain dispenser with some great sounding beverages (ginger, cucumber etc.) in addition to the lemonade and blossom & spice tea, which would hav been nice to know of before I'd paid & sat down. I think for days where a good ambassador for the cuisine is not present, we may have benefited from having a recommended preselection of ingredients for a preset spicy or zesty bowl. read more

This is some really good, inexpensive food. I love having choices for what goes into my bowl depending on my mood. The spicy coconut sauce always makes the cut, though. And I don't know what those veggies are since they're cut up small but man, they are tasty. read more

I was traveling through with my brother and wanted to check out this place as I love pao de queijo. I loved the bowl I got - brown rice, beef, sweet potato, and chimichurri. IT was amazing My brother got a veggie mix and enjoyed it as well. My only disappointment were that some of the pao de queijo were a little hard. But loved that I could order and pay online and pick up easily. I would go back there again. read more

Rice bowl was very dry, not enough sauce and the chicken was dry too. The soft drink fountain was all out with the exception of three choices. The blossom & spice iced tea they offered tasted rancid with a vinegar aftertaste. Not impressed with my first time visiting and wouldn't recommend. read more

Definitely not enough variety here. This would be a great lunch stop except for sauce options, they have 2 spicy sauces and 1 sweet sauce. I can't handle spicy, and the sweet sauce was waaayyyy too sweet, so where is the in between? I think if they expanded their menu a bit, they would have more potential. read more

Amazing value in Bozeman. Similar in setup to a Boloco or some Califorina burrito type places where you choose a base (e.g., brown rice, white rice or salad), protein, toppings, sauces, etc. Was excellent food at fast casual prices. Amazingly, it seemed to me that I was getting actual Brazilian food in Montana -- it's been many years since I've been to Brazil, so maybe i was fooled, but if so, they did a good job at it. Note that some of the stuff has a bit of a kick, so make sure to ask if you don't like spicy food like I do. read more

YUM!!! We were driving through town and stopped here for some lunch. The concept of this establishment is exactly like Chipotle's cafeteria style, but with much more flavorful and interesting options. I can't pretend to remember which options I got, but I can say I tasted a bit of my husbands and mom's dish (we call got completely different things) and loved them all. I don't think you can make a wrong choice here. Price is def right as well! read more

Disappointing. The feijoada was dry and spicey like Mexican chili. I lived in the São Paulo area for several years and sampled a lot of feijoada and it was always more stew like with a succulent meaty flavor. Maybe it was the cook's day off. read more

Unfortunately, the guys at the counter aren't wearing name tags, but they more than made up for it in service. I was a little skeptical. "Brazilian food? What's that like?" Well, at Five On Black, it means a bowl of rice topped with tender meat (I got the feijoada, a mixture of most of their meats plus bacon), a veggie, a sauce (the feijoada has its own sauce), farofa (a salty flour mixture), and a squeezed lime. I love this Brazilian Bowl spot. They call it "fast food" but in more of the traditional sense - as in FAST! They have easy, delicious options, great variety... and don't even get me started on the Pao de Quiejo. HOLY! The prices are very reasonable. The only complaint I have is that it is right downtown making it virtually impossible to get to during lunch rush on an hour lunch unless you work downtown. I've been here a ton of times and I really enjoy it. It's affordable, filling, and yummy. If you like spice make sure you put some of their hot chili oil on your food. Depending on how much you put it can seriously get spicy! I would give it 5 stars for taste but the last 2 times I've been in it's been pretty disappointing. If you're running out of food then cook more! It is seriously unacceptable to run out of rice, proteins, limes(?!?) hours before you close. You guys either need to plan your ordering of food better or hire employees who cook and refill food as needed. You should also reiterate customer service to your employees as most of them just silently walk down the line scooping your food just waiting to be told what to do. read more

Don't go within an hour of closing, because they won't have any cheese bread ball things. The cheese bread balls get five stars. Very skimpy on the toppings. I'd pay a little more per bowl to not have to beg the high school kid working for more collard greens....and chicken....and sauce...and beans. All the way down the serving line. Found this place using Yelp as we went through Bozeman. What a great find! About 12 tables in a friendly counter-service setting. Lots of possibilities as you create your own bowl. Choose your base, protein, sauce, side, and topping. The feijoada (Brazilian stew) was very tasty on a romaine base! The tomato vinaigrette and lime juice were great additions. Awesome lunch spot. Pretty simple concept (great ingredients, delicious flavors) that is executed well. My friends and I wanted something different for lunch and it is different. However, I was looking for different and delicious. First the positives: restaurant is very clean, has a good vibe and friendly staff. We were able to taste the 3 different sauces before ordering. Unfortunately, none of the sauces were delicious. One was way to sweet, the spicy one had zero spice, and the third was bland. My tilapia with greens a base was just ok. The fish was way over cooked and mushy. The greens were fresh. The add ons didn't help much. Unfortunately, I needed a lot of lime and salt to make any flavor pop from my bowl. My other friends each ordered the chicken with rice as the base. The chicken was very dry. Both were equally disappointed. The three of us decided we were happy we tried it but won't be back. read more
