This is one of our favorite supper clubs! It's our go to date night spot for any type of special occasion. We were there last month to celebrate our engagement, and we felt so special! Our server was amazing, and the manager stopped by to congratulate us. Our food was unbelievable- as always! We've been going to this restaurant in excess of 40 years now. It has changed ownership, but it has retained the same recipes and the way they cook their steaks. They have changed the salad portion, but I can see where they were wasting a lot of salad and dressings before. It is also alacarte for the potato; it used to come with the dinner. Have been to Five O'Clock Steakhouse a couple of times now and it does not disappoint. It has a supper club vibe - which means good environment and A LOT of food. They start you with salad and bread. There are a lot of different appetizers and sides to choose from. We started with the mashed potatoes and the bacon sticks wick were both delicious. I ordered the prime rib which they have Fridays and Saturdays. The prime rib single cut was great and HUGE. I had plenty of leftovers to take home. We ended with key lime pie and it was delicious. I went here with work colleagues and we had a great time. They seat you at the bar, where we had prompt attention and recs from the bartender. Our head server and incredibly friendly Angelina checked in on us, gave us a rundown of the menu, and took our order from our bar seats as we closed out and finished our drinks. We shared the fries, creamed spinach, and crab cakes. The spinach and cakes were my personal favorites. I also had a bone-in petite filet which was cooked perfectly. The food was all very good, perhaps a little pricey considering the ambiance is more quirk than elegance, but this place is definitely an MKE institution and it was a great supper club style experience. My fiance took me here recently for my first supper club experience. It looks like an old timey kind of club inside and out. One of those places known for their fancy food without looking overly fancy. We started with a drink at the bar - I did a pomegranate martini, and my fiance had an old fashioned. We placed our orders and were taken to our table shortly after. The entire place is pretty dim-lit, like most steakhouses. There was a performer singing in the other room by the end of our stay. I ordered the surf and turf - lobster tail and filet. My fiance got the ribeye and French onion soup. We shared the crab Mac and cheese. Breadsticks, honey, salad, and a relish plate was complimentary. Our server suggested a mixture of their Greek dressing and ranch... Soooo good! The French onion was good, plenty of cheese and onions. The broth has great flavor. My favorite part was probably the crab Mac and cheese. It's delicious without being overly fishy as some can be. My fiance isn't big on seafood and he loved it. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare. I am not big on charred steaks but these were not too heavy on the charred flavor. I had a drink on the specials menu - Grecian Delight. Wow, it was incredible! Very refreshing. Our server told us that they use herbs and ingredients from their own garden. This drink included some of those - fresh oregano and mint. I also got a tiramisu martini because we were too full to get dessert. It was the perfect substitution. Next time, I really want to save room for the cherries jubilee dessert! Sounds amazing. We definitely had take home boxes, considering we ordered a lot, and the servings are big. This is still definitely the best steakhouse in Milwaukee. The steak is elevated to another level. They use super high quality beef and the temperature is always perfect. The Baked French Onion is so fantastic with a rich, luscious, broth that truly puts others to shame. Our Rib-eye and Bone-in tenderloin were perfectly seasoned and cooked to requested temp. We've been to 5 O'Clock twice since the pandemic and unfortunately I don't see us heading back any time soon. I had always been a big fan of the retro space, giant steaks and tasty drinks. We made a reservation for last night, to celebrate my nephews birthday at a "real" supper club. Inside, we found a packed house / like nuts to butts crowded - no spacing, no social distancing, few to no masks. I get that it's tradition to hang at the bar before ordering but having people cram up to a packed bar is not a good idea right now. We were finally seated (45 minutes past our reservation time BTW) and my prime rib was delivered. Unfortunately it was visibly about 50% big globs of fat. I'm cool with prime rib being a fattier cut but this was disgusting. Because they sear & use a dark sauce, you can disguise a cheap, gristly, fatty cut which was exactly what I received. I ate 2 bites, having a hard time paring away fatty, chewy bits before returning it. If I'm paying $50 for a piece of steak I expect most of it to be edible which this did not approach. To 5 O'Clocks credit, they did replace it with something else which I appreciated. My husband & nephew did enjoy their meals so that was good. Service was professional and friendly, but very slow likely due to the packed house. There are a lot of places to get a good steak in MKE and for me 5 O'Clock isn't on the list anymore. read more

Traditional supper club style: We started with cocktails at the bar, ordered our meal with our server at the bar, and then moved to our table to begin our meal. We actually started with dessert first because I'm obsessed with crème brûlée and am usually too full to eat it. I got 2 Pomegranate Wheatley vodka martinis and he got a Sazerac and then Buffalo Trace on the rocks! 10/10 would order that Martini every time!! Soooo yummy & refreshing! They start you with bread, salad, & pickled veggie tray. We also got the special tuna tartare appetizer which had hints of citrus and was delicious. Atmosphere was nice, if you like that old style mafia ambience. Service was good. The food was just okay, nothing amazing. My husband didn't like the flavor of the steak, it had a badly burnt pan taste. For the money we spent, our taste buds prefer Ward's, better appetizers and steaks. Overall, it was nice to try once. I was in Milwaukee for the 1st game of the NLCS on Saturday. I searched online for a good steakhouse upon my arrival Friday afternoon. Not having a reservation I called and spoke to two lovely ladies about getting a reservation, and was told that 8:00 was the first open spot. I inquired if bar seating was available or if I had any chance of being seated earlier. She advised that I could be seated at 6:30. I immediately drove over and arrived at 6:10 PM and advise the receptionist that I was told 6:30 for a reservation, to which her response was we can seat you now. I was taken upstairs and Franco introduced himself as my waiter. He then explained the menu and gave me a high recommendation for the prime rib available on Friday and Saturdays. I went with his recommendation and can truly say the service and attention to detail of every member of the wait staff was impressive. I was thirsty after a long flight and must of had my water glass topped off by every person in the restaurant as the glass never dropped below half, I believe one person was the Manager that refilled my glass. Franco was quick to deliver the outstanding bread, antipasto tray and salad with house made ranch dressing. Once again I was impressed watching the wait staff great customers, explain the menu deliver food and provide exceptional service, they truly work as a team. Franco then appeared with a huge portion of prime rib, (Single cut) that I have ever seen floating in a au jus sauce perfectly done. I took one bite and have never had such a flavorful cut of prime rib, and have been to House of Prime rib in San Francisco which was my go to for prime rib. Franco advised that the prime rib is slow roasted for 24 hours high must be a Chefs labor of love. I had such a pleasurable experience and thanked the reception staff for fitting me in upon my leaving. My only regret is that this place is not in California. Absolutely get the old school steakhouse supper club vibe when you walk in. Once you check in at the hostess stand they will tell you to grab a drink at the bar while your table gets prepared. While at the bar your server introduces themself and provides you menus. They will go over the menu and specials. They will let sit for a bit and take your order before you get to your table.
