I've ate at 4 different locations, a few different times. They are always nice and clean. No matter what I've tried on the menus It always tastes great BUT within about 20 minutes of eating their food. I'm violently sick of my stomach. Throwing up ,stomach cramps. Not fun. I don't even know where to begin. I feel like you could make a TV show out of how bad the employees are at this location. So the employees seem like they just got released from prison. They are an even mix of mean and terrifying. They berated an Indian guy for his accent in the 30 minutes I was there waiting for my food. They also gave him little togo cups without lids for him to carryout ketchup. He seemed defeated as he tried to not spill it all over himself as he left with his order. On top of that, asking them to take your order or prepare your food is a bridge too far. They are soooo rude, like the kind of rude that you just accept so it doesn't get worse and you can just get your dinner without having to sob on the way home. I legit waited 30 minutes with no one else in there for 20 of them. I'm a pain though and have to get my husbands order gluten free, so I just kept my mouth shut and awkwardly waited. She had dirty blonde hair, black hat and black apron, she obviously doesn't train her employees correctly and then instead of taking responsibility she blames it on the new employees/misinformed employees. Not to mention she had attitude towards me and my family. I've seen this many times before and worked with people who are just like her and they were the sole reason for the high turnover rate. Not to mention they claim to be gluten free but I can guarantee that all of their food that's out of a package is contained. Nothing says homemade natraul cut french fries like a barricade of fresh potatoes boxes stacked chest high & a dry erase board displaying where the potatoes were harvested from & their born on date. This is one of those places you just have to step up and order, and figure out the rest as you go. The cashiers here make it simple, one patty or two? Then you ramble of what all the things you want piled high on your burger. I decided to load my burger served on a fresh sesame seed bun with a slice of America's favorite cheese, crisp bacon, sauteed jalapenos, mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce & slice of tomato. The french fries were served in a paper grocery bag, gosh jam their huge. I couldn't finish them, and I'm usually the person finishing off the left over fries. I'm not sure how peanuts fit into the equation but I asked for a bag to take some home, they told me make sure you fill it. Who doesn't love a great burger? When in doubt....a burger always saves the day! We were debating over lunch options, and neither of us could make a decision. After several hours, I truly mean hours, we both agreed on a great tasting burger to save the day. It has been years for me, but he suggested Five Guys. We both are not fans of the chain food scene, but Five Guys is a rare find in this area. Due to social distancing, we ordered online and one of us went in for pick-up. I ordered a cheeseburger (no bun) and he ordered a bacon cheese burger and a chocolate, banana milk shake; doesn't that sound delicious! He offered me a taste of his shake, and I wanted to steal it. It was creamy with just the right amount of banana for flavor. They actually have a large selection of shake flavors to choose from. Needless to say, he finished that shake before I could sneak another taste! Being low carb, I opted for a lettuce wrap around my burger. This cheeseburger was fantastic. It was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of condiments. His bacon burger must have been good because I didn't even see him eat it! Poof! Store manager called me after my review, apologizing and asking for a call back to smooth things over. I called back and identified myself and my complaint. She said a call back wasn't necessary, but I insisted she understand the issues. She just agreed with me that the grilled cheese sucked, the cheese was fake, but the next time I came in the fries would be better. I simply let her know there wouldn't be a next time. I placed my order which was very professional when I went to pick up my order. Everything was very well organized and running like clockwork I was very impressed. The manager or Store controller had place completely under control as he picked up the order is making sure they were exactly the way you ordered it. It's tough to screw up a burger, especially when it's pretty much your only job. Well, I guess fries are their job, too. Let me say that they do both of these jobs really well. When you walk in, you're greeted by the amazing smells of fresh ground beef being grilled to perfection. You are welcomed by the large boxes of peanuts and bags upon bags of potatoes. Then when you order, the friendly staff just wants to know how much food you're going to eat. It's a beautiful system. One patty or two? Most of the time I roll with two patties because...meat. Two patties makes for an enormous behemoth that you can barely wrap your lips around. My burger of choice is the bacon cheeseburger. Like I said, sometimes I get a little bacon cheeseburger with a single patty...depends on my mood. But the double patty burger feels good in your hands. The beef is always cooked well, the cheese melted perfectly and the fries are always great. The only complaint I have is that when you unwrap your burger from the foil ball, it's a little too greasy. This situation might make the bun a little soggy at times. Other than that, great burger. I enjoy piling on the toppings on the Five Guys meat treat (sounds so hot). I love that they have great crispy bacon. I also love throwing lettuce, tomato, jalapenos and onions. But the beauty of this place is that you make your own burger every time. It's awesome. There's even some A1 sauce on the menu if you feel so inclined. In my opinion, if the meat is properly seasoned and cooked, there's no need for A1. These burgers definitely don't need it. A note on the fries: you can grab a large, which is enough to feed 3 or 4 people. They also have a small and a tiny size. I found the tiny to be a great compliment to a nice 2-patty burger. The restaurant itself is always clean. The staff is always friendly. Just be warned, during lunch time there can be a ton of traffic flowing in and out of this place. It gets really loud and there are barely enough tables to accommodate groups. So, in closing, the Five Guys burger is not the best I've had. I'd put it in the top 10...maybe top 5. The taste just doesn't compare to stand outs like Red Coat Tavern, Miller's and Shamrock. But the burger is unique in its style, size and presentation. Placed an online order to be picked up 30 minutes after placing. I knew it wouldn't be on the fit timing but when I got there the cashier said "it will be right up". Waited 45 minutes! Until I got my damn burger and fries. 11 customers behind me got their orders before I got mine that was already placed in 30 minutes before I had even gotten there. The only benefit of having to wait nearly an hour for my food was being able to watch the incompetence of their workers. In that time 3 orders were screwed up and had to be redone. I called back and asked for a manager a lady manager came on lineage she was very rude and refused to give her name or there store managers name she stated "we are not allowed to give out manager names" and I took their cooperate number and will try to get my money back when the cooperate office open tomorrow. One of the best places to go for a burger with bacon, which is almost always served extra crispy. My biggest complaint about this Five Guys is that the last two times I ordered fries they were too heavily salted. Going to Five Guys Burgers & Fries was like going to junior prom. All your friends keep telling you how awesome its gonna be, how you're going to remember it for the rest of your life, but in the end, you're left with a mediocre experience and quite possibly - regrets. This popular chain isn't bad, but it certainly doesn't live up to all the hype it gets - just like junior prom! When I stopped in with two co-workers at the newly opened Warren location, we were greeted by a long line out the door. I was optimistic, but there isn't much to the restaurant itself. It's a big diner type atmosphere and there are tons of bags of potatoes and cooking oil laid out along flats on the floor adding to the ambiance. The cooks are sweaty and you can see them prepping your burger. These folks work really hard, it's just too bad the food is nothing that memorable. All they have are burgers and fries, so if you're veggie, go away. There are a ton of toppings you can add for free, including hot peppers, hot sauce, bbq sauce, grilled onions, etc. That doesn't make up for the $10 pricetag for a burger I felt like I could have gotten at Burger King. There's NOTHING special about these burgers. They're not particularly juicy and the toppings aren't like you're getting the best that the market had that day either. Yes, the burgers are sloppy good, yes there are a myriad of toppings, but like my junior prom date, they don't deliver on their promises. Not once did I have one of those orgasmic mmmmm's that I hoped to have during both experiences. The fries are the winner here. They're greasy, and you can get them with cajun seasonings, which I highly recommend. Minus a star for overcooked albeit hand formed patties, minus a star for price and minus half a star for all the hype. I'd rather take my 11 or 12 bucks for lunch and go to Bronx Burger which truly knows what messy burgers are all about. I just wanted to say that after everyone talked about how great this place was, and how excited I was about having one in the area, I was really disappointed in "the" burger! The fries were great, and the Burgers SMELLED delicious, but the taste was just not there as far as I was concerned. The toppings seemed fresh, (lettuce & tomato) crispy, (bacon) cheese (nicely melted), but the meat seemed to have NO SEASONING at all!! Mushrooms, onions, ketchup, A1, jalapenos, etc.... and they have 3 burger sizes... small.. normal.. or large. If you mow down a large burger.. first off you were damn hungry, and apparently you didn't order any fries. The fries there are delivered sacks of freshly sliced fries that are sea salted and friend to absolute perfection. However, if you feel that you're hungry... trust me and get a small. To start off this place has really good food if you're in the mood for a burger and fries, but what kills them is their lack of attention to detail. On multiple occasion our office has ordered from here for lunch using their online website. More than once they have screwed up our order, it's never anything big just missing or wrong type of fries here or the wrong condiments on a burger there. What bothers me about this the most is the way they handle their mistakes. They offer to either send you a gift card or you can drive back to have the missing or wrong item replaced. This is great expect all the while why I'm driving back and forth to get my coworkers food right my food is becoming cold and disgusting (greasy food doesn't do good cold). What I don't understand is if we all ordered online why can't they just refund us the money for the missing item via our cards. What makes this all worse which really isn't their fault is the times that they've made mistakes, it was on veterans day and they screwed up the one veterans in the office food or someone birthday and they screwed up the birthday boy/girls food. I understand they didn't do this on purpose but it's like throwing salt in the wound of someone who was already upset. If you catch them on a good day than this place is great, if you catch them on a bad day than good luck getting the right food. read more

I could have Tuna belly or Kobe or a million other things but I guess the fact that I'd bring this to an internal discussion must mean I really love this place. I've just not had bad food here, at any location, ever. I think I usually pay around $10.00 for loaded burger, too many fries, and a drink. I understand comparing a fast food chain to the almighty Red Coat or Nemo's is a sin but this place leapfrogs over many burger places that charge a much higher fare and for me really isn't that far off of these two places when you factor the cost. Maybe it's the staff, the made to order burger with tons of fresh toppings, the fresh cut and often made fries, or the crazy drink machine with what seems like hundreds of options. With all due respect, I dispute what Daniel says, the hamburgers are NOT $10! The most expensive burger on the menu is the bacon double cheeseburger, and as of 2/10/11 it is $5.89 In my opinion that is a large burger. Everything is made fresh to order, never frozen - in fact, they do not even have a freezer on the premises at all! Potatoes are stored in bags, in the open, and their french fries are sliced in the store that day. Hamburgers are hand formed from fresh, never frozen ground beef. Sorry Harley, McDonalds can't say that. Quality you can taste. Having been there a number of times at closing time, it is surprising the depth of cleaning they do. Even at the end of the day when they are closing down and cleaning up, it is still cleaner than many places I've seen. Christopher - they have an excellent grilled cheese sandwich. Glad to know there's one opening in San Diego! When I came here, I had the option of going to Buffalo Wild Wings, 5 Guys Burgers & Fries, or BOTH! Not at all knowing the burger would be filling and that a small fry would actually come out to an extra large! Gotta love a burger place that doesn't hide what it is. NO salads, no low carb options. Nope...all you have here are BURGERS, FRIES, AND HOT DOGS. I mean...you can get a grilled cheese sandwich...but who goes here for that. I like the fact that the burgers are freshly made and regular equals 2 patties and light is 1 patty, however, I do wish the patties were a little bigger for the price you pay. I'm sorry, but 2 patties (Regular) still doesn't seem like a big burger. So I almost always get 3 patties. Any topping can be included...personally, I go for grilled mushrooms and grilled onions. Fries: Great fries. Regular is enough for 2. Large is enough for 3-4. Fries are pretty good, if not basic...but I do have to appreciate that they have malt vinegar available. It's a good burger place, but if there was a Fuddruckers around this area...I think I would find myself going there. Oh yes, I am a fan! The workers here were very friendly & patient with the kids I brought when they were deciding what to order since it was their first time. The place was very clean - and so were the bathrooms! The fact that the "little burger" is a normal size burger cracks me up - and the amount of fries we got in 1 large order was ridiculous, good ridiculous. Four of us ate them in the restaurant & brought a ton of fries with us to go for the car ride home. My nephew had the (double patty) bacon cheeseburger & said it was the best burger he has ever had. He also loved the fries & he doesn't usually like them. All the kids said it was "so good" and I was glad I decided to take them there. I love me some Five Guys and wasn't sure if they would be too excited since it seems like just a burger place. I was glad they liked it as much as I do! Meh. I think FGB&F was on par with what I expected from all the mixed reviews I've been reading. I was not "unimpressed," per se, but I wasn't wow'd either. Don't believe the hype. The burger was tasty; flavorful and very juicy despite being cooked well-done. The toppings were of decent quality but not that plentiful. The bun was nice and held up to the two patties I ended up with. The regular burger comes with two patties, which is a lot, really. I couldn't finish the whole thing, which is fine, I don't need all the calories anyway (in fact, I still feel bad about myself having eaten that in the first place). But the burger was good. The fries were high quality, but I'm not a huge fan of "real" fries...I know, I know. I did find them to be tasty, but not well-salted. And really, once they're out of the frier if they're not salted right away then it's too late. Also, I don't need enough fries for three people so I threw away 2/3 of what I got since I was going to class afterward. The prices are a bit much...for myself I paid around $11 and change for a burger, fries and a drink. Why don't they have any combos? Stupid. They're purposely trying to fleece us because the ENTIRE WORLD wants fries and a pop with their burger - they know what they're doing. I also think it's a little wasteful that they serve everything to go in a bag that highlights the greasiness of the fries. It's a wasted bag for all those who eat in. Get some washable trays.
