Ordered Five Guys through Door Dash tonight. When delivered I didn't receive the soda I ordered. I texted Door Dad driver and their attitude was Five Guys didn't give it to me. WOW! Should have looked at order! Then I call Five Guys and their attitude was that's not their problem I have to contact Door Dash. But where is the soda I paid for? Good service and a fairly clean restaurant. The staff was attentive to our orders and attentive to my request "some" extra care be done with mine due to gluten sensitivity. The only reason I marked low was due to one of the employees "cleaning" off eating surfaces with her bare hands, wiping them across the tables, instead of using a microfiber, cloth, rag, or any type of cleaning agent. Seemed a bit off from our typical Five Guys experiences that we normally have. Think about all the places where your cellphone has been. Now think off all the places where someone else's cellphone has been. Now imagine if you see someone who is preparing your food and the food of others wearing a glove pulling the cellphone out their pockets and checking it for about thirty seconds. Then the cell phone is placed back in their pocket and they go to touch hamburger buns and put condiments on it using that same glove. No new glove or anything after touching their cellphone. Well Yelpers you don't have to imagine and you can get a full view of what I described at this Five Guys. This was all on display for me and the other customers at this Five Guys on February 5th at 542 PM. By the way the person who had less than stellar food hygiene was the manager. How do I know it was the manager? Because he had a black shirt and Five Guys managers wear black shirts and I guess wearing your mask underneath your chin is part of the uniform. I made a to go order but when I went in my order was not done. They cook fries and make shakes when you get there. After seeing this I was looking to see if any of the burgers he touched were in the bag I received. Luckily no but then you have to think if the manager is doing this what training are the others getting. No I am not going to talk about the food because this is a bigger issue. Ok to make it a real Yelp review I will talk about the food. It was good but with the food safety practices seen here it could have easily gone bad. I would have gone with 5 stars 3 trips ago but no longer. The fries are always mushy and taste like old oil. Not too mention I literally got half a handful in total for my order. This location is amazing ! Walking in, I was greeted three times by the friendly staff here. Now, if you're thinking it's a bit much, it definitely wasn't. It was one of those awkwardly funny situations but overall, the staff are funny and entertaining to say the least. This was actually my first time eating here, and it was actually really good. The Cajun fries were good and the portion size for the fries are humongous! The one thing I found odd was that everything was charged separately. There wasn't a combo meal or anything, which may be a sign that they're on to something .... combo meals are a thing of the past and now you have to consciously think about what you're buying and eating... so good and bad. The hygiene here is very clean. There is always some cleaning off tables and sweeping. I found this surprising because they offer peanuts in line and all along the establishment, and you'd think there would be shells everywhere. But unlike Logan's, it is a clean establishment. No shade towards Logan's though. They do that to set a comfortable mood for their patrons, I'm assuming. read more

When I want a fast food burger, this is my go to spot. I love how the meat and potatoes are always fresh and never frozen. The quality of their products is just spectacular. Overall the establishment was clean, there were a bunch of teens working, but they conducted themselves in a professional manner. Can't say I'll be back here anytime soon. I don't live in Sumter and I don't care for anything in Sumter. I ordered the Little Cheeseburger, Little French Fry and Little Drink. Sounds like a small meal with a small price right? Noooooooo, huh uh! The previous aforementioned meal cost me $11.50!!! The cheeseburger was just alright. The drink was average. The Little French Fry was small but they dumped the equivalent of a second Little French Fry into the bag. The volume of French Fries was a little consolation to the cost and the extreme time I waited. Yes, I mentioned the time I waited. It took 13 minutes from the time of the order until I received my food. The place was barely occupied and it took 13 minutes to get my food! It's been a very long time since it took 13 minutes to get my food at a fast food joint in a long time. On top of the time it took to get my food, the 10%+ sales tax in Sumter has completely killed my desire to spend money in Sumter. 5 Guys is without a doubt the best place to get a Great Burger with Fries, and this location lives up to the tradition. Clean dining area (minus the salt on floor from free peanuts and me devouring the fries) and clean restrooms. For those that have never been to 5 Guys its fast food but not drive thru fast. They make the burgers and fries fresh in front of you so it will be a few minutes....but I promise its worth it. Dont get a large fry unless you havent ate all day u will be too full to drive home. Im always greeted on my way in and out the door. HARD to find a better fast food establishment! There is NOTHING bad I can say about this place. Yes, if you've never been to a five guys before they are a bit pricey when compared to a fast food place. But really, Five guys isn't "fast food", even if they kind of are. No drive through window, no delivery, and you have to wait for your food to be cooked to order... nothing is premade. So the price is a bit more, but in my honest opinion the quality is a better. I'd prefer quality and taste over speed... so the couple of extra bucks isn't an issue for me. That said, I love this place. The customer service is amazing and very friendly, with a great staff. I almost always get a burger here, and will frequently get their fries. Even if getting a burger/sandwich from somewhere else. I really love their fries, and don't think they can be beat easily. This Five Guy location in Sumter, SC had terrible service. My wife and I were greeted upon walking through the door, hence the 1 star rating, but all went downhill there after. The cashier was not helpful in aiding in the Five Guy experience, did not explain how to order, nor did she make suggestions. We were not offered peanuts while we waited. I tried to coach the cashier of how to ask if it was our first time, etc. but she became soft spoken while her coworkers looked on giggling. We felt very uncomfortable. We would have asked for the manager, but my intuition told me that the manager was among the present staff who offered nothing but ridicule. So, we decided to voice our experience on Yelp. I thought maybe we just got them on a bad day so I took my kids there again and had the same reaction.
