Absolutely incredible burgers. Everyone in my group got something different, and all of us felt like we struck gold. New favorite restaurant in Sumter, for sure. At the end, there wasn't even a crumb left. The onion rings were also a hit. We sat at the bar, and our bartender was incredibly friendly, and kept us good company. The food was ready quick. The music was good, and kept quiet enough to talk. One of our group members is hard of hearing, and he had no trouble hearing us, even spread out along the bar. Charming Pub located in the heart of Sumter on Main Street just a short walk away from the Hyatt Place where we were staying while in town. My party of 3 arrived around 5pm and decided to sit at the bar. The ambiance was casual and comfortable, very clean. Our bartender was amicable and attentive. We started off with drinks my husband and I decided on margaritas, they only offer classic no flavors but there were a few tequilas to choose from. Our cousin drinks red wine and they only offered a Cabernet so she went with that. The drinks were ok. I would not come here solely to drink since I'm into handcrafted drinks. Like most pubs they focus on beer, their selection in beers was fantastic. My husband ordered a burger and fries. The burger was huge and he said it was delicious and the fries were ok. Our cousin and I both ordered the Buffalo Shrimp Tacos. For my side I had the beer battered onion rings which came with a jalapeño ranch sauce, they were crispy and really tasty. My cousin had the coleslaw which she mentioned was average. The tacos were exactly as described but wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting, they were not bad but I wouldn't order them again. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Personable, knowledgeable about the menu & the surrounding area. The menu is a great selection of burgers and tacos. Top tier for making mostly all of their sauces & dressing in house. My husband is still talking about the jalapeño ranch! There is a karaoke bar next door that opens weekends at 9pm and you get in free with your receipt, we didn't make it but it sounds like a good night out! Speaking specifically about the food, easily the best burger spot in Sumter. I came to try it when I first moved here and tried the Sammy's Way burger, suggested by the man himself! As for someone who does not like pineapple on a burger, the teriyaki glaze was enough for me to not notice it much. The best thing about this place is the different variety of sandwich options. Asides the 16 different sandwich options, you are able to select either from a burger, chicken, or a black bean patty, an ample variety in addition to a taco menu. Inside the bar was small. Any party bigger than 4 might not be accommodated being that I saw from just my two visits. Service inside was good, not terrible. The last time I came my waitress checked on me enough considering she was the only waitress I saw working while seeing several other tables (4-5 other tables? I wasn't exactly people watching), so considering the circumstances, I'm just glad it wasn't terrible or waiting for food for long. I'm sure there are other things to nit-pick here, but in the short time I've been in Sumter, there's a limit on good food options here. I'm not taking J O' Grady for granted. read more

After a long day at the Carolina Cup, we stopped by at J. O'Gradys for some delicious burgers and fries. We ordered the Sammy Burger, Christian's Mainstreet Melt, Nachos, Bucko's Pacific Islander Tacos, and Edmond's Classic. After sampling all the options, everything was cooked to medium which brought out all the flavor and juices. Pineapples were sweet with some sort of glaze that was tangy. Fries had a season on them that was the right balance when dipped in the garlic aioli The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was great. It was the perfect way to end the day. The service was also excellent, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal! read more

If there was a half star rating, I'd go with that. It was bad. Extensive wait for food, food was good but overpriced considering the portions. But the real issue was service. We were seated quickly, but the wait staff took quite some time to get to us. We immediately placed our drink and food orders and while we got our drinks fairly quickly. The food took a very long time. Unreasonably long. And the wait staff didn't check in on us for a long time. So we drank our drinks and sat there. Just waiting. I'm not sure what the issue was in the kitchen. while that may not be the waitstaff responsibility- the lack of customer service was a waitstaff issue. It was a bad dining experience. We won't be going back. And don't recommend it for anyone else. read more

Sports bar with some of the best burgers ever! Sports memorabilia from all sports and teams decorate the walls. You could come here a dozen times and probably still not see it all! We stopped in on our way home from vacation a little after 2 in the afternoon, only to find out they close at 2:30. The waitress was fantastic and let us know we could take our time eating, we just needed to order before 2:30. We did not feel rushed to eat and get out and thoroughly enjoyed the burgers. They say fork and knife burgers, and it's not an exaggeration. They are big and messy,everything you want in a great burger You can get a beef burger or chicken and have the option to get their salt and pepper bun or Texas toast. Sides are not included, but we got an order of fries to split, and it was 2.99. Prices are reasonable and plenty of seating. We will definitely be stopping back in here anytime we are anywhere near Sumter, SC! read more

First, this is the only negative post that I have ever posted and I find no pleasure in it. Keep in mind this was my first time eating at O'Grady's Pub on Main Street in Sumter SC. Next, I suggest you save your money. I was in town and just left my grandson's swim meet. My daughter said ... "Head to Main Street for a great bite to eat before going home" and she recommended O'Gradys Pub and The Brewery. I tried O'Grady's and found the interior attractive with a cute, warm, friendly feeling. Very nice ... much like an old world or old English-style pub vibe. A good ambiance. Being a new customer, I asked the bar tender/waitress for a menu and ordered a Mich Ultra while checking out the food options. Everything sounded great. Being new, I asked the bar tender/waitress what were some of the more popular items and she highly recommended the "DREW'S VOO DOO TACOS WITH THEIR SPECIAL HOMEMADE VOO DOO SAUCE. It's excellent and a best seller." So I ordered it. Big mistake !!! The moment I bit into the taco, the sauce tasted absolutely horrible ... an awful, sour, tart, mouth-puckering taste ... so bad, I couldn't even swallow. My first thought was spoiled food or bad sauce. I mentioned it to the bar tender/waitress and sent it back ... and suggested she check it out ... specially the sauce. I felt someone must have accidentally miscalculated measurements, over poured the vinegar or added too much of another ingredient ... or possibly something in the taco was spoiled. Either can happen occasionally. She took it away and returned to the bar area where I was seated ... and immediately began LECTURING me stating "you (me) should have taste tested the Voo Doo sauce before ordering if you (me) had any doubts about the homemade sauce. I didn't have reason to doubt anything ... because she recommended it to me. "I (she) will comp the meal this one time ... but if you (me) ever come back and didn't request PRETASTING the sauce or any other food, they would charge me full price for the meal. They would comp this meal once. That's all. The next time ... regardless of the issue ... it would be on me." I quietly acknowledged her ... and tried not draw anymore attention to the situation. However, even with my silence, she kept restating this over and over ... louder each time ... and berating me in front of other customers sitting near me at the bar and restaurant to the point I was very embarrassed. She was determined to drive this point home and just wouldn't quit. I finally responded and told her she was embarrassing me in front of other customers ... and stated that "I'm 75 year old grandmother and eat out a lot. I was not in the habit of returning food that I ordered ... nor would I eat food that tasted bad or was likely spoiled." The food she provided me TASTED THAT BAD !!! Nonetheless, she continued repeating the same " policy" over and over emphasizing they "would only comp the meal this one time" and that "I would be responsible for the full bill next time." NO APOLOGY FOR ME BRING SERVED FOOD THAT WASN'T UP TO PAR WAS EVER OFFERED. I began reviewing the menu to order something else ... when she returned with the same Drew's Voo Doo Taco and the same special sauce. I explained that I had to drive back to Charleston ... a 1 1/2 hour trip ... and I couldnt take a chance on getting sick and I was going to order something else from the menu. She went into the same tirade again... repeating the same thing several times ... louder each time. By now, everyone near me had their eyes locked on her and were listening ... and I was beyond embarrassed. I was totally humiliated !!! With that ... I offered to pay for the half consumed beer and she wouldn't accept payment. So I quietly got up and left ... empty handed and very disappointed. Do better !!! I walked across the street to THE BREWERY and had an EXCELLENT MEAL, pleasant conversations with the bar staff and enjoyed the building's history, viewed their attractive new facility and enjoyed my time spent there. THE BREWERY is a really neat, classy place with a great staff !!! Highly recommend !!! I supervised many people while working at MUSC in Charleston SC. Someone with this type attitude and personality toward our patients would not have been tolerated very long. They do way more damage to a company ... than good. Good day !!! read more

Would not recommend l, the bartender her name starts with an N is not the most pleasant....turns away business I wouldn't have her running my bar for her pettyness....walk in his husband ask hostess can we sit at bar she's says you can check but N usually doesn't like ppl standing.....RED FLAG....I sit down there's a big gap where a stool was my husband stands there, customer beside us says I'm about to leave, so great we'll have a chair on a few, N comes up and all she can say is you don't have a chair it's all she's focused on so my husband leaves, I tell her really he's literally standing where a stool goes not in an aisle or anything and there's a big enough gap for him like please Make it make sense her ignorance turned paying customers away not the type of employee I'd want at my business I laughed all night at this like so if the stool had been there and not moved we could've ordered LOL We will not be back she acted like we were standing behind ppl that where sitting at the bar is never do that in a small place lol read more

I would have never considered coming here as I'm not normally drawn to Irish pubs but the food here is actually top-notch! The ahi tuna salad is amazing. The menu has a lot of different opinions so there is something for everyone. Was not a fan of the margarita but they did have a couple other craft cocktail options, a full bar and lots of beer on tap. The service was spot on. Will definitely be back! read more

My husband and I always love coming here for good food, good drinks, and a good time. I ALWAYS enjoy sitting at the bar way more than sitting at a table. Most of the time when we go Drew is working the bar and we like to chat with him while we are there. Drew is an amazingly kind person and overall makes a good experience every time we go. They have a lot to choose from the menu and I've not really had something there that I didn't like. Great pub with superb service and delicious food portioned for hungry guests. My cheesesteak was awesome -- fresh bread, good steak cooked perfect, nice and cheesy, just the right amount of sautéed onion and shrooms. Everybody in our crowd loved their assorted burgers and the French fries and sweet potato fries were perfection. Servers were fast and super cool...the ambiance was fun and buzzing but not crazy loud or anything. Lots of cool sports memorabilia, lots of quality beers on tap. If this place was in my town I'd def be a regular. Highly recommend O'Grady's for great burgers and beers, and given more time I'd bet anything we'd find more to rave about! read more

They serve their fries with aioli, and I feel like that's the main reason I like to go there. You can get ketchup, of course, but they come with aioli. Insider tip: the guy who made the menu for this place also made the menu for the now-closed Uptown Deli of Sumter. The voodoo wrap isn't on the J O'Grady's menu, but if you ask nicely, they might just make you one! read more

Solid, Reasonable Food Stopped at J. O'Grady's to visit a friend working in Sumter and had a pleasant time here. Ordered the Christian Mains Street Melt, which includes all of my favorite things: onions, bacon, eggs over easy, mushrooms, meat. (I'm a very complicated guy) A few critiques: I would've liked my server to ask me how I wanted my burgers, since what I ended up with was medium-well when I prefer medium-rare; didn't quite like the batter in the onion rings, they were a little off to me; also my unsweet tea definitely had some sugar in there. That said,the food was solid, the service was good (my server let me swap out the texas toast in my melt for a seeded roll), and the price can't be beat. Such an nice little place to stop by for dinner with a big group of people. The wait staff is quick, friendly and polite! Made for a nice dine in experience. Any place you can create your own burger, is A-OK with me! Lol, burgers start off at only 7$ and you can put whatever you want for little to no cost. Some toppings are free and then there are those which cost a few cents to add. They also have burgers which are already made on the menu as well if you just want to try something they've created. My husband decided to make his own brisket burger with a bunch of toppings he enjoys and it came out amazing!! I had a regular bacon burger, which was cooked to perfection. Usually restaurants are stingy with bacon; well this place is NOT! For all bacon lovers get a burger with bacon on it from here and you will definitely not be disappointed.
