I've been going here for 11 years. Unfortunately it's just not a great as it used to be. I ordered the little bacon burger. Got a cheeseburger missing the bacon and mushrooms. The cheese was cold and not melted. While going back to the counter another customer was complaining to the manager about their order and asked me if my food was cold. So I had to wait on the remake and just ate fries. By the time my burger was ready I just took it to go. Hubby burger was missing mushrooms. What a great burger place. Threw me for a loop, as there weren't five guys but instead about five wonderfully varied culinary specialists intent on serving me a fresh delicious triple patty cheese burger after leg day. So the service was fast and friendly and I was greeted when I walked in. One of my favorite places because of the drawrings people place in crayon. Yes, that drawing has an extra R on purpose. Definitely one of the better burger places! Juicy burgers, steaming hot, crispy fries, and AYCE peanuts while you're waiting for your food.

We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line, SCORE! We were greeted right away and our order was taken. The restaurant was very clean, no peanut shells on the floor a def plus! I tried to get some unsweet tea and it was like pure tea no water, ewwww.... We got our drinks and took a seat, and within a few minutes our number was called! Unwrapping the burgers got us excited as there was melted cheese and grease all over the place mmm! First we had to rearrange the toppings as everything was on one side (no biggie) but the first bite underwhelming.... the bread was already kinda soggy, the burgers for being made on a flat top they tasted more like they were boiled or steamed... No char, no real flavor IMO. The fries were pretty good, a nice mix of crunchy and tender fries. All in all for the price this would not be my first choice for my next burger. read more

Today was my family's day out to eat and we all decided to get five guys. To be honest, I haven't had five guys in maybe over a year so I was really looking forward to this meal. We placed the order online, drove less than 10 minutes to pick it up, our fault was not making sure that our order was made correctly before leaving the store. When we got home, we opened our burgers, very excited, just to see that none of the toppings that we ordered were correct on our burgers. Very disappointing. read more

I honestly don't mind paying 10ish dollars for a burger but the quality of these has gone soooo down. This patty is smaller than a McDonald's burger at this point and that's that I ordered a normal cheeseburger lol.. the fries were alright - pretty well done too although they were generous with the portion. We asked for extra of some of our toppings while ordering and they looked at us like we had five heads so we just said never mind. I really like this location! Food is always great! Employees are very attentive to everyone who walks in. They acknowledge you even when you are leaving. We ate there last night and they did that with every person who walked in the door. The times where there was no customers, they were all keeping busy and cleaning the dine in area. I was really wanting a good burger and they never disappoint but I didn't get off work until 9 and they are 30mins away. I hate to be that person but I went in 30 minutes before closing and expected the employees to respond accordingly. I was greeted by a smile and hello, welcome by every single employee! This Five Guys should seriously reconsider rebranding as Fry Guys because hot dang, y'all. Five Guys has been in San Antonio for a hot second, but with all the happening hamburger joints in SA, it's really hard to justify going to a Chicago eatery over any of my favorite local spots. That said, I had this urge for some natural cut fries yesterday, vaguely remembered the Five Guys close to my house has them, and squeal-tired my whole way over to pick up a Little Cajun order. How had I never had these with Cajun seasoning before?? The real draw for these fries? You order a small and the Five Guys guys with hearts of gold pour extras all over that greased-up brown bag. After the last bite, you can bet I rubbed the inside of that paper sack all over my face because that seasoning is exceptionally delicious AND exfoliating. Two birds, one stone, mah dudes. Two birds, one stone. So while the burger may not be my favorite, the fries are going to keep me coming back because a good fry is worth its salt. read more

This go round I came back with a burger in mind which was the grilled cheese burger (it's not on the menu you have to ask for it) I also added lettuce, onions, pickles, and Mayo it was fucking delicious if I go back I'll add tomatoes which I probably will as my daughter loved her bacon double cheese burger and she asked me this morning when we go again to make sure that she puts the onions on top of her burger instead having them on the side lol, and the fries that came with the meals are pretty damn good as well I got the Cajun fries, and she got the regular fries. The service was good, they are really friendly there the burgers, and fries where prepared fast and to order. The ambiance was like a burger diner should be and was very clean. But the reason for the three stars is due to the bill I paid almost 50.00$ for two meals and for the amount of food you are getting that is steep as I know of a place not far from this location that I would pay this price and get a burger that is as good and would leave with left overs, and feeling better about what I spent. It's at the counter ordering and there is a big plastic shield (not complaining) so you have to kind of speak up. I ordered a "regular cheeseburger". I was asked if I wanted just 1 patty as it comes with 2. Heck no! Give me the 2... for sure. Thought it was alright tho that he asked me instead of leaving me to be totally surprised at a regular being so amazing with 2 patties. Moving on. Ordered a small fry. Daughter got a regular as well. They gave us some peanuts in the shell while we waited. They were actually really good. Food comes. It. Is. Amazing. The cheese is melted perfectly. The veggies are plenty and fresh. But the fries. Burger verdict - turned out to be a double patty cheeseburger so splitting between us was perfect. Although I am DEF a fan of greasy food (adds flavor) this burger was borderline too much. It worked out ok but getting it to go and the extra five minutes that was added before we got home almost made the bottom bun too soggy to hold and eat. Cajun fries verdict - the "little" serving was PLENTY for the two of us (and I ain't no skinny boy). Save yourself some coin and get the "little" serving as they call it. The seasoning was just ok. I would compare it to Tony Chachere's famous Creole seasoning. Might be a tad salty for some. Fries tirade: For the type of fries that Five Guys serve I understand it can be tricky to get it right (natural and seemingly fresh cut (but probably not)). I always order/ask that the fries be cooked a little longer. My success in getting them that way is about 40% of the time. Today was no exception. I asked to have the fries cooked a little longer and the guy said, "Sure". You might guess what happened next... I received fries that were flimsy, grease-logged, undercooked and generally unappetizing. I don't know if its the potatoes they use or the frying technique (not enough time in fryer, frying too many fries at one time or the oil is not hot enough), but I found about 6 fries in the bag that I found edible. Pricy, however on this day I was disappointed that I requested well done. It was not. Burger had pink in it. Though they have a sign that states they cook their burgers well done. Better than whataburger, but didn't blow my mind. I only selected Five Guys because one locally owned place didn't answer their phone, and the other is closed on Mondays. I had fries, and a small burger with fried onions, mushrooms, and barbecue sauce. The toppings were yummy, and the meat wasn't as greasy as I remember the burgers being at the Alamo Heights location. It'd be nice if they carried other cheeses than just Kraft American. Seems a shame to put fake cheese on top of fresh ingredients. Well, I have to admit that burgers have never been my favorite meal. Still, this place was new to me, so I went with Dad and number one son to try it out. I had sweet tea with my meal. It was some of the best I have had in San Antonio. It was more like the teas served in the Carolinas where they understand that the word sweet implies that it should have LOTS of sugar in it. It was really juicy. I can't tell you how the meat tasted, as I haed too much stuff on the meat to tell. I really liked thier relish. We shared a large order of fries. The guy who took our order wasn't kidding when he told us it would be more than enough. I ate way to many of them, even though they were not my favorite kind. I like a little crispiness. These were soft and mooshy. They were also very brown and had a cooked just at touch too long taste. Dad and number one son did not seem to notice that. Our food was all packed in a huge paper sack, even though we were dining in. The burgers were all tightly wrapped in aluminum foil. I will admit that I am fuddy-duddy enough to have wanted a plate of some kind. I tore the bag away and made a large bowl out of the bottom for the fries. They came in a giant paper cup, but only about one third of them fit in it. The fries filled the bottom of the bag All in all, the meal was just okay for me. Even though I am not a burger fan, I have had better. I have also had worse. I would come back, unless I ended up at Freebirds next door instead. One last thing, they do not have wifi there. 1st time at 5 guys and I was presently surprised how good it was. The restaurant is surrounded by established articles from the past decade on how great their food is... and I get why. You walk in to the restaurant and you get greeted with friendly staff welcoming you and a tower of self serving and FREE peanuts. The menu is simple and basic. You pick a burger, cheeseburger, bacon burger. You decide if you want it as a single patty or double patty. Tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, etc is all FREE to add onto your burger! Cool side note- my husband said that the fries are posted where they come from. I guess they get their potatoes from around the country and the store tells you exactly where. Your order (no matter to go or for dining in) is delivered and handed to you in a brown paper bag. Not sure why- but not a deal breaker- just odd. The burger is seriously one of the best burgers I've had. I'm not a burger fan, usually because it never hits the spot. Well, this burger hits the spot! It feels like a burger from a home bbq!
