The service was friendly, for sure. I ordered a small cheeseburger, malted milk shake and fries. It came to almost $17.00. Jeez. My burger was just okay-- really nothing to write home about. The milkshake was so over-the-top sweet that I had to toss it (and I hate to waste food). The fries were way overcooked, dark brown. I couldn't enjoy those either. While my husband and I normally love Five Guys... Tonight was quite the disappointment. We ordered regular sized order of lite cajun fries and received much less than anticipated along with mostly burnt fries. Both of our burgers were dry, over cooked, nearly cold, and quite bland. Normally this restaurant is one of our favorite fast food places in town. We're hoping this was a fluke. But also wanted to speak up in hopes the manager or franchise owner sees this and makes sure it doesn't happen again. Regardless we will still come here when we're craving a burger and fries. Just got back from there (it was approximately 4:00 PM when I was there). Disappointed. I don't know if this place is run by new people or if the workers are just lazy. The fries were precooked & sitting in a strainer, just thrown cold in a bag. Fries are the "claim to fame" as far as I'm concerned. The burger was also cold and I suspect it was precooked also & the onions, etc merely heated up barely & the whole thing just thrown together in record time. I won't go back to this one. Almaden one always serves everything just cooked & hot. This one used to be my favorite one because of the privacy of the seating area in the back by the window. It's a shame to ruin it this way. One time they made up some reason to close early. Yesterday I actually had a good experience. Today they told me they ran out of bottle water (kind of). Are the staff in black (not red) t shirts managers? If so, you need better ones. You need managers who won't tell customers they ran out of bottled water so that they don't have to go in the back to fetch one at room temperature for a customer with a sore throat. Man, This place gives In-N-Out a run for the money. A wee bit more expensive than the prior but well worth the few extra shillings. Updating from 3 to 4 after a couple more trips. The burgers are great, and you have a ton of options. The cajun fries are delicious, and they serve you about a million of them. Ok how had I not eaten here yet! LOVED it. From the many burger topping choices (and no extra fees for them), spicy Cajun fries, in-the-shell peanuts to munch on, to the fancy ass soda machine = I now love Five Guys! Fun vibe, and nice peeps taking orders and working. We ordered: a bacon cheeseburger (hubby's, he got fresh jalapeños and chilis on his too, everything was fresh and SO good), a mini hamburger (mine, with everything + BBQ sauce), a grilled cheese for the two-yr old (very melty and tasty, she dug it!) with Cajun and regular fries (size small, which is plenty big to share). I love that the fries have potato skin on them! The grilled onion and sauteed mushroom toppers were my favorite. Everything comes in a paper bag, whether you dine in or not. Not kidding, every item was cooked perfectly, piping hot and delicious. I can't wait to try more/different items. Great place to take kids, our daughter loved the peanuts, food and they have coloring stuff too to entertain. Bonus parent points! Yeah it's more expensive than In-n-Out, but it should be! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Entered the restaurant around 4pm on Sunday 9/9/18. After ordering we sat down and immediately I noticed the lack of professionalism with the staff on duty. Loud conversations were taking place behind the counter and almost every time I looked up, the girls behind the counter were staring at us. I felt uncomfortable to say the least. As a previous store manager in food service, I was disturbed to see the type of unprofessional behavior taking place while patrons were dining inside the restaurant. The staff was extremely distracted, which was demonstrated when they forgot to make our shake. After our food order was called, we noticed that our shake was missing and was not being made. There was a shift change taking place, so the two individuals who were off the clock continued to hang out in the store, one of them was the man who took our order. We asked him if our shake was being made and he then asked the girls behind the counter to make it, as the other girl who was off work loudly said "I'm off the clock." They made our shake and the girl called out "SHAKE!" and did not apologize...a simple "sorry about that" would have been nice. Minutes later, my aunt approached the girl at the counter who was counting a cash drawer to ask for a second cup so we could split our shake into two. She made no eye contact and was clearly irritated that she was interrupted while counting, which I observed as my aunt walked away with the second cup. The girl threw her hands up, rolled her eyes, and was irritated that she had lost count of the money. The girl who was off work and hanging out in front of the cash register was laughing. I was so upset at this point and looked at the girl who was off work and laughing, she proceeded to stare me down. I cannot believe that a staff would behave this way...so embarrassing and unprofessional. Patrons who are dining inside should NOT be made to feel uncomfortable or like they are inconveniencing the staff, and should not be stared down by employees who are off the clock!! After I wrote this review and filled out the online survey, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a phone call the next day from Tim ( I think that was his name. It was 1 1/2 weeks ago). Anyway, he explained that it's a Five Guys policy not to use salt or have their crew wear name tags. I don't agree with the no name tag policy but it's not my company. He also explained that it's company policy to cook the bacon until it will break into at least 6 pieces. I'm not sure who's writing these policies but, I believe, they need to take a few cooking lessons. Tim was going to be heading back to this location to work on the attitude of the idiot behind the counter that we just wanted to take out back and slap silly. Tim invited us back for lunch on him but we live in Monterey so I politely declined. It will be a little while before I'm brave enough to try this location again. read more

Placed an online order. Husband went to pick it up at the time stated on the order. When he got there, the order was not ready. There were no customers ordering and the employees were standing around talking. When they gave him our order, the fries and shake were missing. He had to tell them and waited longer for them to make the fries. When they gave him the fries, they forgot the shake. He had to tell them about the missing shake. They then ask him what kind is shake. So, he had to call me and ask what kind of shake did I ordered online. Then, he had to wait for them to make the shake. Really people? Two stars and ONLY because my daughters order was correct. Which was a chocolate/strawberry milkshake but seconds before order was ready. Because guy at register looked high or really tired. Also forgets to mention that they are out of the main thing the burgers are BOMB "bacon" passing thru after a long day of work and having to still travel to Gilroy. Get home to having a burger with only lettuce and jalapeños and bbq. Ended up feeding it to my dog. And not having anything but the fries. $31.00 later and unsatisfied I will say that I called the store and Robert. Well you are just out of San Jose - going south, or going north just about to approach the lions mouth of the bay area, and the Cochrane off ramp leads to several choices. My Honey always wants the peets coffee, there is a big chevron to fuel the car and several food choices, a deli, a chipolte, five guys, and an in and out . Burgers are OK, but nothing special, and definitely not worth the price for the small burger size, especially when In-n-Out is right across the street with a burger of about the same size at half the price. A triple meat burger at In-n-Out is less than $5, so this place isn't really worth it. I give them 3 stars because the food is good enough to warrant that rating. I called and they told me to come right back and they would take care of me. A very clean store with an efficient staff. It's convenient, on Cochrane just off Highway 101. I had forgotten how good a simple burger can be. The beef is the star. I'd normally give this place a higher rating than 2 stars, but this particular location doesn't perform so well. The burgers and fries here are always great, but this location seems to take forever to get your food going. We waited a good 25 mins to get our food. It's busy and the boys and girls work there butts off, but it wasn't that busy! And to make it worst they got our order wrong. Innocent mistake, but the wait, plus wrong order was just a bad combination. It was nice to see someone walking around offering people more fries. Definitely a nice touch. The new soda dispenser with the touch screen was fun to play with, but I noticed it created a back log for people trying to get soda.. I like the old conventional method, it's quick and easy. Im not much of a burger person, but being able to have fresh onions, grilled onions, fresh jalapenos, pickled jalapenos, relish, BBQ sause and hot sauce..... customized to my liking. At first glance this looked like a promising lunch option. The line was longer than I'd like but I felt like having a burger. The line moved somewhat quickly so I was ok with the wait. I ordered the cheeseburger there and some fries. They were VERY generous with the fries so major kudos! I like fries! =P The burger was tasty and their jalapenos were spicy! They were not the pickled ones that everyone else uses so you have been warned. I like spicy food so it was a pleasant yet crisp surprise to bite down on a crunchy piece of hot pepper! Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all. Who doesn't like a good boigah now and then? I eat them at a frequency well over now and then so I tend to get picky. The three specific must haves on a burger for me are relish, diced not sliced onion and a crust on the burger patty. Five Guys burgers have all of these things. Win. Sesame seed buns? Epic Fail! I want my burger bun smooth. Like butt cheeks. Well, not really like butt cheeks. That would be gross. But you get the idea. Fries are great, nice and crispy, and properly salted. But when you order to go, they put the fries on top of the bag. On top? Really? I want to eat the fries out of the bag, in their oily goodness. On top means I have to take out my thankfully piping hot fries, pull out my sesame seed riddled sandwich of happiness, put my fries BACK in the bag and then....only then can I begin to eat. Why don't they know this? Crazy guys. The service is good here, smiles all around. They are a raucous bunch in the kitchen though, yelling "fire this!", "two patty!", "dude, where's my car?" The hubby and I decided to check this place out a few weeks ago (after the insanity of opening week) to see what all the hype was about. The place is lively and even at 2:30PM, there was a steady stream of people coming in. The first thing I notice in this particular location is that they need screens on the windows facing the storefront. The sun glaring in makes it difficult to sit and eat in a lot of the seats. Plus, the poor bloke at the register has to stare into it to take orders. I wanted to hand him a pair of shades and some sunscreen! His service was outstanding even if he had to squint to see us. Now, about the food. I love the fact that there are no freezers, all the patties are hand made from fresh ground beef and there is a sign saying where they got their potatoes from that day. We ordered two Little Burgers (because why do I need the two patties in the regular burger?) and they were perfect. We split a small (the words 'small' and 'little' must mean something different in DC) cajun fries which was more than the two of us could eat in a sitting! We ended up taking some home in the brown bag our food came in. I know some people say the fries are the best but they didn't blow my mind. They are tasty though. Not knowing the origins of Five Guys, I knew it was an East Coast company based on the burger. They may have fresh ingredients everywhere but they use canned mushrooms. Ick. I know it's a totally East Coast thing to use canned mushrooms but we are in Morgan Hill. This is the mushroom capital where we have a Mushroom Mardi Gras every year for heaven's sake. That's like using canned garlic in Gilroy. I don't know that they can change it being that this is a chain restaurant but unless the mushrooms become fresh like all the other ingredients, I'll leave them off my burger. All in all though, I'd give the place 3.5 stars. read more

I'm not even much of a meat-eater but I love these burgers like no other! They are the freshest out there and the available toppings are so wonderful and fresh. It was crowded, noisy, the radio was very loud, but it was all good. I didn't mind that so much because I love the food. They have the new kind of Coke machine where you can make a custom drink if you want. I will drive out of my way to go here. In N Out can suck it, lol! read more

My husband and I went to Five Guys for a quick dinner. I ordered a hot dog, fries and a milk shake. My husband ordered a hamburger and a shake. When we went to wait for our order none of the tables were clean and the floor needed sweeping. There were at least five or six people behind the counter, one should of made sure the eating area was clean. My hot do was tasty and grilled. Buns we're plain old super market buns. My husband's burger was ordered with carmelized onions, the onions we're barely cooked and the cheese was not melted. I would be willing to give it a go again. read more

These guys are the gold standard for internet orders! I have placed on-line orders here several times. Each time the items were perfectly made to order and ready on-time. I walked in and was immediately taken by surprise. I was expecting to see what I expected and didn't really know how to act when my expected expectations weren't met. I thought five guys were definitely going to be in five guys. Not like sexually, but I thought five guys were going to be working in the establishment, Five Guys. When I walked in though, there were only three guys there. I wanted to ask the three guys where were the other two guys, but I felt like it may have been a sensitive topic, especially if it was a bad breakup. So I decided to silently wait for the food instead. I was the only person in five guys, except for the other three guys working. After a few minutes of waiting, another person walked in. At that moment there were five guys in five guys, it was pure serendipity. Some may say it was just a coincidence, but things like that don't just happen. If you ask me, fate brought me and those four other guys to five guys that day. Us five guys, being in five guys, made this a five star experience for me. read more
