I have a guilty confession.. I cheated on In N Out and I feel so guilty about it. The guilt wouldnt be so bad if the cheating was worth it.. but it wasnt :( Five Guys just didnt do it for me. I have been wanting to try it for so long and I like the concept of having grilled mushrooms and onions on your burger but I only tasted 2 small mushrooms and no onions, so it didnt really add much to the flavor. The quality of beef is good.. nice thick piece of juicy meat but the burger was definitely missing that "animal style" delicious thousand island dressing that makes you want to cherish every morsel of your In N Out burger. The regular fries here were too thick, salty and overly greasy. I also hated the presentation when you get your order. They place your burger at the bottom of a brown bag then put a heap of sizzling hot greasy fries on top. In order to grab your burger (which is at the bottom of the bag), you have to dig into a pile of hot, greasy fries all while noticing all the grease spots staining the brown paper bag. Kinda ruined it for me. Long story short... cool concept ..but not enough taste to make me cheat again. read more

This location is inefficient and slow. Overall quality was substandard. Our order wasn't correct. One burger had items we didn't order and the other didn't have items we ordered. The burgers were slapped together in a really messy manner. Disappointing all around. I won't be rushing back anytime soon. Such a bummer. This used to be one of our go-to places when craving a good burger. read more

This joint opened up on Sepulveda, south of the airport, sometime last year. I've passed by it any number of times (usually when patronizing the nearby Malibu Fish Grill) and have intended to try a burger here for the past several months. Well, I finally had lunch at 5 Guys Burgers this past weekend and deem it to be a 4 out of 5 star experience. The cheeseburger I ordered was really good. The fries were OK+. They were tasty but I prefer my fried spuds crispier. What I did not care for (admittedly, this is a bit of a niggling point) is the quote/assertion the store prominently displays that 5 Guys burgers are the best $5 burgers that money can buy. Apparently, the quote was made in Michigan in 2009. It does not apply to Southern California in 2014, however. The cheapest burger on the menu is $5.89 (w/ the cheese, mine cost over six and a half bucks). Quality food, prepared relatively quickly and the location was doing good business on a Sunday. I'm sure I'll eat here again. read more

What a massive disappointment. Hype, build up, word of mouth, positive reviews- what the what?? Here are some things that truly bother me: - Discrimination - The slow death of the American novel - Child Poverty - Soggy, undercooked fries So, yea, I was pretty upset when I saw the massive, soggy pile of potato grease they served up. My hamburger was tasteless, the "grilled onions" were white, translucent, and limp, and the bun was literally wet. I had such high hopes. Filled with people at lunch...what the hell is wrong with these people? read more

Good home style burgers. I had the Cheeseburger and Cajun Fries. When ordering a Lil burger is one patty and cheeseburger is two patties. I ordered the Cheeseburger not realizing it meant two patties. It was to much burger for me, only order if your real hungry or have a heartier appetite. You can add your desired condiments to your burger when you order at no additional charge. They also have hot dogs and regular fries. The fries are bigger portions at $2.99 and is enough for two people. We ordered two burgers, two fries, two sodas for 24.00. read more

They make a very good burger and they have so many condiments to customize with (jalapenos, A-1 steak sauce, grilled onions, mushrooms, etc.) Or if you don't want to think about it you can just get it all they way which is a default combination that is tasty. They wrap it up in tin foil which is nice IMO. in terms of taste, it reminds me of a backyard bbq burger. it tastes home made. wrapping it tin foil consolidates everything together so it holds its consistency even if you overload on ingredients. Their fries are average but they have the option of getting them cajun which is basically them adding their seasoned salt over them (generously added btw) and they give your fries in a bag if you order to go. which in my experience you get more for your buck so i am not opposed. This burger chain used to be a hidden gem type of spot but it has become more mainstream i am noticing with branches showing up more.. they serve free peanuts while you wait, how cool is that?! One thing i dont like... they use the same color scheme as inNout (red and white) which i think is such a pansy move, they shouldve gone for their own color scheme which adds to their personality, but hey it works read more

5 guys makes a good burger. I always get the little burger (one patty is enough for me). I usually get it with everything. I like how they wrap up the burgers in aluminum foil and label them with the corresponding number on the receipt. I just like systems that work and this works. My favorite part is grabbing some peanuts and cracking them open while I wait for my order. read more

Spendy, but you can order whatever toppings you want. When you order fries, it's enough for 3 people. Canjun fries were very yummy! Everything made fresh and the wait wasn't very long. Another option to The Habit and In n' Out. read more

After hearing for longer than I care to remember all of the hype about Five Guys, I finally decided to give it a try. I went there with an open mind even though I highly doubted it and was skeptical when compared to the king of all burgers - IN N OUT. Cons: - Tasted like than a 'normal' burger but didn't co$t like a 'normal' burger - Was really nothing special about it - burger or fries or ambiance - IN N OUT fries are way better Pros: - topping options - large portion for fries No typical burger joint will beat IN N OUT. You cannot use UMAMI as a comparison. I might give Five Guys one more shot, if I felt like spending $15 for a burger meal. read more

I have no problem with the food at Five Guys. Actually I LOVE their food, and Five Guys is probably my favorite burger chain in the area. However, something has recently gone horribly wrong at this location, and I'm hoping that down the road they can turn it around. I have recently had three to-go orders in a row have mistakes, all of which costed me money as I was not given parts of my order that I paid for. I wrote and gave feedback on the FG website, and about 2 weeks later I was contacted by one of the shift managers at the store. She was apologetic and offered me 2-3 free meals as a thank you for my continued business. The employees there honored one of those free meals, but since then they have refused my subsequent attempts to claim, saying that I will need to speak to the shift manager again. I haven't seen her at the store lately so I'm not sure when this issue will clear up. I went in to order food to go again last night, to bring something quick home after a long day running around with the kids. My ticket (and two other people's) somehow got lost and our food was never made, so after waiting 15-20 minutes I was asked to wait another 15-20 minutes while they started over. While waiting, I also overheard that there were two large orders ahead of us that had significant mistakes, and the customer were not happy. Out of everyone in the restaurant, 80% of the customers were either waiting for mistakes to be fixed, or in the process of complaining. I don't know if they've recently hired a few bad apples here or what, or if management is changing over or not doing their job. I do know that this location probably can't afford to be this out of sync for long, with The Habit across the street and with the new In n Out one block away. As it stands now, I am taking a long break from this location, because I'm tired of getting my hopes up and being frustrated over and over again. FG has good food, when their employees have it together and do a good job. read more

5 guys burgers and fries was good. I had a "little cheeseburger" which is just a regular size cheeseburger and fries. It was fresh and the meat was seasoned well, not a good place to go if your on a diet though.. 32 grams of fat for a cheeseburger :( but it was good!! read more

I grew up on the east coast and am very familiar with Five Guys. However, I was never really sure of what the big deal was about them. This region is pretty full with burger competition as it is. But thankfully, the day I went wasn't particularly busy. I hope that the hype has died down a bit. I dig the free peanuts and really like their cajun fries. I will usually order them. However, a burger, drink and fries is about $10 here! *sigh* That's a bit much for a burger lunch. They make pretty good char-grilled burgers, but they're not the juicy burger that I am usually looking for. I do like that toppings are limitless as are combinations. I like their BBQ and A1 sauce as a substitute for ketchup. Nevertheless, I am happy to see that they are expanding nationwide. read more

Burgers...Dogs and plenty of fries -- that's all America really needs... These Young kids shout out orders and customer names as their swiftness can move along a midday lunch run crowd like nobodies business! Expect a clean atmosphere and fast past service like the other more established big chains. In-N-Out loyalists and Tommy's faithful will find their chance to convert to a new California alternative. Customization is 5 guys main selling point. With the options of perhaps 1000s of combinations including A-1 steak sauce for their many topping choices, it will be a mission to taste them all. It is highly recommended to utilize the 5 guys smartphone app or website to produce your order in advance. They are accurate up to the minute and are keen in their detail to special orders. I'm grateful for the small detail of distributing fries once you arrive to ensure optimal freshness. The burgers are quite tasty and are comparable, if not superior to, Johnny Rockets or the Habit. The cajun fries' spiciness can range from swimming to drowning in sweat. Depending on whether the fry guy hates his job or not, these bad boys are not for the faint of heartburn. Yes, the food is greasy and you run the risk of breaking your toilet plunger at the end of the night. If you were worried about going over your sodium intake and cholesterol levels, you should have known there was a Whole Foods down the street, HIPPIE! One word: Peanuts! Make it 3 better words: Unlimited FREE PEANUTS! -- Where are your peanuts In-N-Out? Hey Tommys, by any chance, do you have any free garnish to gnaw on? I didn't think so.... Your clothing and passenger car seat has been warned. It may take another 5 guys to take those stains out but it's going to be a greasy good time! read more

I was told by some friends that Five Guys burgers are comparable to In & Out's. Man, was I disappointed by all the hype. Their burgers are OK - I just like mine to be extra crunchy with veggies. I do give them ++ for putting mushroom in it. Overall, Five Guys looks like ordinary fast food to me - how is it different from say Carl's Jr or Wendy's? I don't know. read more

I'm getting very disappointed in five guys. This isn't the first time they have messed up my order. I'm pretty sure they have the receipt there when they make the burgers. But even then. They add a ridiculously large amount of onion and only add that sorry little excuse of a lettuce piece. Not only that but they added tomato when i didnt ask for it and they forgot to give me pickles. The only reason why i'm giving two stars was because they were still really nice and everything else was right. I'll still come back and hopefully they'll give me the right order next time. read more

Five Guys - What I ordered vs what I recieved - Fast Food Near Me - El Segundo, California

A bit pricey for a burger place... IMHO. I paid a grand total of 11.09 for a bacon burger, small fries and a regular drink. The Good: The burger was good, I cannot complain about that, but folks from the west as myself will say it honestly reminds me of a bigger 'In 'N Out' burger in regard to taste... Yea, you can order more toppings on your burger, but when I order my burgers are generally the same. I look for a basic burger- otherwise all you taste is a conglomerate of things... (Buns-Meat-Chees-Bacon-grilled onions- grilled mushrooms-Lettuce-Tomato-light ketchup will suffice for me.) Down to the "look" of the place. I saw In 'N Out... However, I saw and tasted nothing special. The Bad & Ugly: The regular fries were pretty nasty but hey- to each his own. Never had the cajun ones as I don't do 'hot' flavored fries... Maybe if they were cooked in fresh oil, or maybe they were overcooked? but they give you a heap of them- it's almost downright wasteful. I'm not sure but a basic mexican burger shop makes much better fries in my opinion. Either way, for me- they are lumped with In 'N Out. The burger is something you may want once in a while- the fries are 'meeeh' and that's about it. *Kanye Shrug* read more

This was my first visit to a Five Guys ever. There's signs out front that say best hamburger for like 5 years running etc...Yeah I don't know about the best Hamburger that's a big stretch. I respect the fresh beef (one star) I respect the no preservative bread (two stars) but this place sucks. The fries are a big sodiumbomb and the cheeseburger made me feel like I just ate mckeyDees (which makes me feel weighed down and ill). I guess I'll stick with inn n out the next time I need to burgerbomb my body. read more

This was the first time ever eating at 5 Guys, and I can't believe I've never been here before! I ordered online and got a little burger (the regular is 2 pattys) with a bunch of toppings and fries; DELICIOUS, and like $6. I have absolutely no complaints, and the staff there was fun and efficient and seemed to enjoy working there, which is always nice to see. And they have free peanuts! read more

I thought I'd try this place again after the first time was awful. This time was no better. Ordered the double with grilled onions, extra pickles, catsup, mustard, lettuce and tomatoes. It came out a big soggy mess with a bun that fell apart right in my hand. The fries were no better as they were not crisp, just a big soggy, sloppy mess. I don't know why I decided to give this place another chance. There is no comparison with In N Out as they are not even in the same ballpark. I think Five Guys needs to head back to the east coast on the horse they road in on and let someone else enjoy their sloppy mess, because it won't be me. read more

Second time here. If you are hungry hungry... then eat here. It's probably cost more that most people want to spend on a burger meal, but the servings are huge. I ordered a regular bacon cheese burger with regular fries and a drink for $18. But I am really writing this review because of the service. Two different elderly people came in as I was eating and the staff took care of them. Their orders were taken table side and the guys exercised patience and respect for these customers. Something you don't see everyday with young people. read more

The more I go to Five Guys, the more I like it. This time I got the bacon cheeseburger with everything but mayo and tomatoes, cajun fries, and a drink. The burger was huge and messy and delicious. I think the bun adds a lot....it's just a plain white bun with sesame seeds, but it was very light and fluffy, like it was out of a freshly-opened package. The burger patties were small and didn't have much flavor, but all of the toppings fixed that right up. The fries were thick and more floppy than crispy (luckily, I like them that way). It's cool that they give you a scoop of fries in your bag on top of the fries you order, but I'm not a fan of the fact that these fries get soggy just walking back to your table. I dumped them out right away and they were still starting to get soggy. Still, the seasoning was good. I agree that they should mention on the menu that their normal burgers are really double burgers and their junior ones are single. The price still sucks, no matter what. Twelve bucks for a burger, fries, and a drink? I could go to the counter and get bigger, better food with more toppings for that price! AND I could get beer if I wanted. The speed also stunk - it took quite a while even though there was no one in front of me. In N Out turns burgers out in less than half the time and Five Guys is essentially making the same burger...so why the long wait? read more

I guess I expected a bit more from this place. The burger was good the fries were mediocre, and the wait was insane. Just a good burger, nothing fancy, but the dining area inside is soooo hot. Its hot, muggy, smells like grease, and if you go outside its way too cold. Just wanted to come for the experience. I'd rather go to Fatburger. read more

The fries are the main attraction here. I like that you can customize your burger, but it tastes like In N Out, minus the seasoning. Service was painfully slow when we visited, despite being the only customers at the time. Two of the four employees were wiping down walls in between bouts of standing around looking bored. The fries are amazing, though. They give you a little cup, plus about a quarter of a bag full of them! I would definitely go light on the burger and plan to fill up on them. As for drinks, they have that cool Coke machine where you can order anything you want, so there's that. I don't find myself on this side of town often, so I doubt I'll be back. read more

"mmmm, I love the taste of five guys in my mouth! " "I just did five guys! " "this place is like an orgy in my mouth! *Hyuk hyuk hyuk* Go on, get all the jokes out. But you gotta admit, these "build your own" burger joints are all the rage these days and I gotta say, this place gives the ol' other sexual innuendo'd burger chain a run for its money. (I'm talking about In N Out, people, jeez get your mind in the gutter.) You know why I like this place better? Fries! That's right, the mother fracking fries are fricking the freshest, frightfully best because they have SALT AND VINEGAR! DO IT. read more

Review 61/366 I'll be honest, I never understood the appeal of Five Guys. I ordered the Little Cheeseburger, with grilled onions and mushrooms add to it. There were barely any onions nor mushrooms. I also ordered their small cajun fries, which were okay. As a relatively health conscious person, I feel like if I'm going to indulge in a burger and/or the calories, it better be worth it. In my opinion, I've had burgers that were more flavorful, for less or the same amount of fat and calories. Oh, a tip that I learned from my boss: mix some ketchup w/ some of the malt vinegar and you'll get something like bbq-- it's a great sauce for the fries :) read more

This is really nothing to complain about here! The service - awesome. The food - awesome. I love their burgers and their option to have a "little" burger which is not little at all! You get to pick from a bunch of toppings and sauces. The fries come regular or cajun style. Cajun all the way for me!!! They have loads and loads of peanuts for you to snack on while you wait for your meal. And almost as good as their burgers is their soda machine. It's the fancy one where you get to create your own soda/drink. Everyone is so friendly and doesn't make you feel awkward while you stare at the fairly simple menu trying to decide which toppings to get. read more

I'm a burger fan. Like, big. I could eat one everyday. So when I saw the Five Guys move into the area, I knew I needed to try it. Burgers come with a lot of toppings and sauce choices. I'm a basic burger lover, but the addition of the grilled mushrooms and onions was yummy. You have a choice of getting any burger with one or two patties. The one thing I didn't get was the giant bucket of peanuts. I assume they were to be snacked upon, but I didn't get the relationship between burger and peanuts. The burger was very good. Fresh, with a homemade quality. Service was a little on the slow side, but with freshly grilled burgers, that's what happens. The best thing about this place was the fries. EXCELLENT. I love In and Out, but the fries there lack a certain greasiness and saltiness that I equate with the french fry experience. Overall, I think In and Out is a better deal, but I wouldn't hesitate to make a trip back. Maybe next time, I'll try the hot dogs. read more

I've had quite my share of burgers and I my absolute favorite is IN N' OUT but my co-workers kept mentioned FIVE GUYS so I just had to try it and let me tell you!! It's awesome. I had a Jr. Cheeseburger with mayo, ketchup, lettuche, bacon, mushrooms, grilled onions and bell peppers and I lobed it. Fries are super fresh and thicker than the ones at In' N' Out. It is a pretty good burger and the Jr one is not small at all, it just means it has one patty so that was good enough for me. I liked it a lot but I couldn't go all the time because of all the calories I had in one sitting but they were totally worth it. read more

Five guys made it onto the scene with a lot of hype from transplants that remember them from back East or the Midwest or whatever it is they started... Overall it was a pretty good burger, on par with something you might get at your buddy's backyard BBQ but with more toppings. But for less money the Habit across the street or even In-N-Out down by the airport serves up a better fast-food-ish burger... Definitely worth a try, but there are just too many local burgers that are better. read more

In-n-Out has nothing to fear!!!! Five Guys burgers are...meh...okay at best. So, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onions and ketchup. The burger wasn't very tasty, it seems as if someone forgot to season the burger when they cooked it. The ONLY thing that stood out was the BACON. (EVERYTHING is better with bacon). yes you can add a whole bunch of fixings to the burger, but if the burger doesn't taste good, then no matter how many fixing you put on it, it's NOT gonna get better. In-n-Out is truly head and shoulders above Five Guys. read more

Five Guys is AWESOME! Love the burgers, hot dogs, and french fries. There are places that offer a more "premium" burger, but none that give the same bang for your buck! One thing to note: The quality varies from location to location a bit. The fries are a little more crisp at some, and the burgers are more juicy at others. I'm told there are a few locations that get it spot on for both, but have yet to go to one. On the other hand, I'm nitpicking and talking about the difference between a 9 and a 10 score. read more
