I don't understand why the bad reviews for the price. If you have a Mcdonalds budget for a meal, Why did you order in first place? Nobody forced you to pay $15 bucks for a Burger, soda and fries buddy. Why the bad reviews for a bland burger? If you don't know how fresh ground meat tastes is because your pallet is used to taste high processed "flavorful" beef out of a 2.99 meal All I am saying is the burgers are delicious, you taste freshness, salt and pepper is all you need. The fries are daily fresh cut for you and I like the fact they have a board informing customers where they get their potatoes. Portion size not too big not too small, just the right size for a burger. My 5 stars are for quality,freshness and cleanliness of the place. Well I have been meaning to go to Five Guys forever. My daughter lived in Washington DC for Three years and there was one three doors down from her building. Here's is my take on this long awaited and anticipated visit. Five guys is always being compared to In & Out. 1) The buns are too doughy for my liking. 2) The patties are not flat like a patty - but thicker in the middle and are not round like the bun, so I got bites of just bread. Also, they say on the sign that they are cooked to well done - but moist. I disagree, i thought they were kind of dry. 3) You get your choice of a bunch of ingredients - that is true. So I ordered bacon, cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions and jalapeños. The lettuce was chopped as opposed to leafy, and far less than expected. The onions were diced as opposed to sliced and again, far less than expected. The Jalapeños were sliced and I counted 4 small slices - less than expected. There were three slices of pickle - ditto. The bacon, just like the meat was overcooked and crunchy and was falling off the burger. The cheese was adequate and tasted good but was not the least bit melted. 4) The fries - The portion size was good, but I felt they were a little overcooked. About 50% of the serving of fries were little pieces like an inch long - French fry nuggets? Also - when you stuff hot fries in a cup, the ones on the bottom get steamed and they then are no longer crispy - but they are soggy. 5) I like the self serve peanuts - I enjoyed a small tray with my lunch. 6) I really like the soda machine. I can have my choice of like 30 different sugar free beverages - compared to most places that have 1 or two at best. 7) The Prices are very high. For my wife and i to have two burgers, one order of fries, and two sodas costs more than 26 bucks! 26 bucks for lunch where I have to wipe off my own table before I eat and bus my own table?? So in this reporter's opinion, I will take In & Out over Five Guys any day. I guess I have to live with the one flavor of sugar free soda. read more

Then maybe because they are new and just opened but I come back to work to eat and the cheeseburger has no bacon!!! I ordered the little bacon cheeseburger and figured that meant it was a single burger, it was a single alright but the patty was tiny. It didn't even fit the bun. The fries were so salted that I couldn't even finish them. I've had five guys before and that's what made me try this new location but NEVER AGAIN!!! Ordered a hotdog, grilled cheese and little burgers. Never coming back here again. Burgers fell apart, grilled cheese was burned. Fries and free peanuts were probably the only good thing here. Food is always good but this visit they had thd music SO loud that it was almost impossible to order our food. Its hard enough to understand each other with our masks on but with the music that loud every question had to be asked and answered multiple times and they still got it wrong. Was visiting across the street at Kaiser Hosp., and needed a food break? First off? They "are" pricey! At least $5 higher than near same thing @ Fuddrucker's. (..which ain't cheap!). Secondly? More than a couple of the fountain drinks were out of syrup? After notifying them with the first one? I gave up with the next three? And lastly? The fries were near inedible with salt! So I finally decided to try this place and let me just say I'm a huge in & out and fat burger fan so I went in with high expectations. Man I'm glad I finally tryed it there burgers are small and pricey but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and for. There meat makes there burgers better than in & out but there size keeps them a step behind fat burger but I'm go have to say there now number 2 on my favorite burger spots and moved in & out to the 3rd spot. Gave this place a shot for the first time today and boy Oh boy what a let down. I was so unimpressed! My husband and I were shocked to see that everything is sold separately. We ordered a Little Bacon burger $6.79, a Cheeseburger $7.69, a small order of Cajun fries $2.79 & two sodas $2.39 totaling $21.43. The patties we so under seasoned and for the price I was expecting the burger to be put on a better bun! The Cajun fries were overly salty so I guess that is where all the seasoning went for our burgers. Needless to say we will not be back and if you want a real burger I suggest In & Out, Habit, 464 in downtown, BJ's, or Island's. Any of those are better then this place! read more

Every time my family and I made the drive down to the Cerritos Five Guys, we'd return full to the brim with happiness, burgers, and peanuts. However, my experience here has knocked off my nostalgia goggles with a harsh slap of reality. First off, the price. Nigh $13 for a meal consisting of a little burger, little fries, and a medium drink. Not terrible, but a stark contrast from, say, In-N-Out's $6 meal. Paying this much, you'd expect the food to be better. The first thing I noticed was the fries. Although "little", the extra always thrown in the bag make the portion quite sizable, but disappointing, as the salt the fries contain hardly make the extra appetizing in the first place. Onto the burger: I didn't even finish it. I'd like to mention the toppings were simply ketchup, BBQ sauce, lettuce, and grilled onions. However, when I opened the terribly wrapped burger, it resembled more of a casserole. The bun was drenched with sauces, ruining any flavor the patty had to offer. The bun felt more like a flour tortilla in texture, and it simply was not appetizing to it. Until this location steps it up, I won't be returning. I truly hope it improves, for the sake of everyone who loves Five Guys. read more

Went to try the new Five Guys in Downey today. I was kinda surprised to see the place empty at 12 noon. This is my first time going to the chain. The cheeseburger and fries were not bad. The fries especially were fresh and reminded me of In-and-Out fries. The burger was large and the topping were fresh. The problem that I see with this place are the prices. It was $14.36 for a Cheeseburger, fries, and a regular drink !! I know that everything is expensive now, but $14.36 is too much for this meal. I can go to In-and-Out about 1/2 mile away and get the same meal for about half the price. I hate to say it but unless this place starts to offer lunch specials it is destined to fail. . As I write the only other table in the restaurant with people are a couple of moms that ordered kids meals for their three kids. Five Guys, get with it, you have a good concept with the keep it simple menu. Lower your prices and you will have to hire people for line control. Otherwise you will not be in business long. read more
