This place probably has the best burgers I've ever tasted from a fast food chain. It's considerably better than Burgerville, Dick's and In-and-Out. Do not come here unless you bring your appetite as even the "small" burgers are quite large, and the regular burgers are boarderline huge. Because the burgers are so large, there isn't anything that is super inexpensive on the menu - which is kind of a bummer if you are looking to spend less than $5 on a meal. But the value is exceptionally high. The fries are very good, but the portions are just too big for an average person to take on themselves. It's a better idea to go with someone and split an order of fries. I would give the place 5-stars but the service is a little bit slow and they don't have a drive-thru, which is kind of lame for a fast food place. read more

So I went to this burger joint because a coworker told me it would win the award for best burger north of In & Out...um, more like best mediocre impersonation of a great burger chain. Upon driving up and walking into 5 Guys, I was struck with a case of the disbelief giggles when I saw the red, black, and white color scheme along with the special potatoes in bags and the employees in red hats and t-shirts...deja vu for any exiled Californian. But I thought to myself, I've heard some good reviews of this place, and there are tons of people here, much like In & Out, so I tried to keep an open mind. I was excited to see a 'small burger' option, so I ordered that with 'everything.' Their version of 'everything' is lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, ketchup, mayo, grilled onions and mushrooms. I was excited, because usually grilled mushrooms and onions are something you pay extra for, but here, they are standard...I would soon understand why. My husband ordered a regular cheeseburger along with some fries to share and a couple of drinks. While we waited for our food, we snacked on some free peanuts that were offered around the dining room, which I thought was a fun, if not sort of out of place touch. The wait wasn't too long until we were diving into our burgers. First off, and the most disappointing part, was the boring, soggy bun. It was one of those pale, nondescript sesame seed buns that was way too soft to hold a hot greasy burger that had three condiments and a ration of fresh veggies and not fall apart. My bun was instantly soggy, since it wasn't toasted or griddled, and was way too soft to stand up to all of the fillings. The burger itself was quite tasty. Moist, cooked nicely, if a little well, and slightly greasy like a good fast food burger should be. I liked the fresh veggies and the combo of ketchup, mayo and mustard is always a welcome addition for me, but the so called 'grilled mushrooms and onions' were definitely not well cooked and added no flavor. The onions were not even close to caramelized and the mushrooms were little slimy bits of veggie flesh that just fell out. Now one thing that could be deceiving about the sizes of the burgers is that the small size is actually just a regular sized burger with one patty. The regular sized burgers have the same sized bun as the small ones, but offer two patties of beef, and 3 shock-inducing slices of American cheese for the cheeseburger that would make any lactose-intolerant person like myself go into dairy shock. The fires were slightly thicker cut fries cut fresh from Idaho potatoes and were cooked nicely. The only downfall was that they were so heavily seasoned that even I was getting a little throat-burn from all of the salt (and people...I LOVE SALT). All in all, it was a decent fast food burger and fries...far better than the likes of any of burgerville or mac d's...but, of course not up to the level of perfection that one would expect from a place so well-reviewed. But if you think about it, the only two locations in the Portland area are in Beaverton and West Linn. Most people in these neighborhoods are not native Californians and therefore have no idea how a fast food burger could be better than that. But that's ok. Nobody's perfect. read more

I have ate here before, and the burger was okay. Not the best I've had, but okay. However, the last visit there was picked-up to take 6 burgers to the house for hungrey football fans. We are on vacation and ate a late lunch at the Five Guys and loved it. It is very casual, with a red and white barn theme. There was a pallet of potatoes stacked in the middle of the restaurant and they are in red and white sacks to match the theme. You can get shelled peanuts to eat as you wait for your food. Nice touch! You get a lot of food for a great price and although not "heart healthy" the burger and fries were delicious. I love a good burger. Alot of people consider a good burger to be a thick piece of black angus grilled with a piece of cheddar...somewhere from a brewery or steakhouse. I feel those burgers always taste the same...ok I guess but just kinda blah. To be honest, when I think of a good burger I think of a "diner burger. " Something that reminds me of what my mom use to make and Five Guys reminds me of that. Their burgers melt in my mouth. Nothin fancy, but super flavorful and just yummy. The toppings are optional you pick from the menu board what you want on your burger when you order it (really fresh lettuce, tomato, etc.. The food is rather good and their fries are excellent. The real problem with this place is price. Everything is separate, so if you get a burger, fries and drink expect to shell out about 12 dollars. I showed up 3 minutes after ordering online, the website said approximately 7 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing a customer who was in line when I got there get her order I went up to ask where my order was. Turns out it was sitting there for 20 minutes. The crew member said "you should have told me". Unacceptable customer service. I love Five Guys, but I won't be going to this location any time soon. read more

It was a double tragedy... I have heard so many good things about this place, "They are like In and Out", "BETTER than In and Out"... "yada yada ya".... Ok so I walk in the door and look at the menu... First tragedy; 6$ for a bacon cheeseburger. In and Outs most expensive burger is 3.50. Ok so I have to readjust my thinking. They must be really good burgers compared to a casual restaurant and not a fast food chain. I mean you can have a fast food chine that serves Kobe ground beef but charges $20 a burger but you can't compare them to a cheap fast food restaurant. While I thought Wow look how I get to pick and choose the toppings and wow look at all those great topping choices. I cringed when I went to pay for a soda and burger and it was 8$. I sit down to eat this so -called great burger and bleh!!! The patty was charcoal. There isn't any amount of fresh toppings that can save this burger. I was weary when I read the sign that said they only cook it well-done, but thought maybe it would be OK. I want to like this place so much. To have a neat little eatery that served up a great burger even at the high price, but the well done part just wastes the whole thing. If you want a the best fast food burger in Portland go to Mikes, or burgerville, and pay 2/3rds of the price. read more

Five Guys Burgers be Fries may have started out strong, and been praised, but they are now apparently gliding on their original fame in a present day fraud of typical fake American corporate food. Fake bread & Fake cheese. The vegetables are slightly higher than average corporate chemical food, and the meat is above average. However the trend will most likely be to cheat consumers, because in this American climate you cannot compete if you do not cheat, and I fully expect the overall quality to drop to American corporate food standards. Since every business everywhere is owned or land leased in some way, it follows that a true American cheeseburger is hard or impossible to find in this country. Indeed, I cannot find one. The potatoes are reasonably natural, but they leave much to be desired as they are too thickly cut. They're like eating a potato, not a French Fry. It would actually be nice to have some sustinence like carrots and celery to go along with the heart attack. At least natural bread would slow the absorption of the fat chemicals. Overall, this monstrosity of corporate fraud and false hype deserves and recieves 1 star from me. They really should tear down the advertisements if praise, because they have become a completely different restaurant. read more

Pretty disappointing food. I ordered a grilled cheese with some toppings, but they got the toppings wrong and my bun was a little soggy on one side when I unwrapped the sandwich. The cheese was also barely melted. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of just one is that the fries were pretty tasty. read more

I love their cheeseburger here. Its sooo delicious. Their beef patties are made fresh, not frozen. Their cheeseburgers are made with two juicy beef patties and fresh vegetables. You get to choose what you want in your burger such as mayo,mustard,ketchup,lettuce,tomato, bbq sauce,etc... I rate this place high because of their burgers and cheesedogs. As for the service, the people are nice but when it comes to your order, I recommend that you double check your bag to much sure your order is correct. The wait is very long to order and to get your food. There are boxes of roasted peanuts that you can take some to munch on while you wait. This place is kind of small. read more

We have heard so much about this chain restaurant and finally had an opportunity to go there and bring the family (3 generations). It was not crowded, so that's good, offered peanuts on the tables to keep us happy until the burgers were ready. Loved that. It's a simple place, just burgers and dogs. The service is excellent!!!! However, the fries are mushy (not crisp at all) but plentiful. The burgers were pretty tasteless and the bacon burger didn't come with bacon! By the time we got our order which was fairly quickly, there was a line of customers so we didn't complain about the bacon issue. Five guys burgers are pretty delicious, and they are at this location too. That's not why I gave this location such a poor rating. The first reason is they have made my burger wrong three of the approximately 10 times I have eaten here. Not a big deal cause they remake it, but it's irritating to have to wait another five minutes to fix a mistake. The main problem I have with this location is their employee smoking area. It's in the parking lot right across from the windows in the dining room and totally in view of customers. As a non-smoker I think it's pretty unappetizing to look outside and see various employees cycling in and out of the restaurant to smoke a cigarette. I'm not saying they should ban smoking, but maybe have a smoking area in back? For this reason I probably won't be coming back to this location for a while. read more

I ordered the cheeseburger expecting it to be good since it was about $6.25. It was soggy and just fell apart. If I had a fork then maybe I could have eaten it but I wasn't provided with one. We love FIVE Guys food, but today I witnessed the great customer service at this location. While there a older gentlemen who had difficulties ordering due to some handicap. Instead of getting frustrated, the girl behind the counter treated this man with all the respect he deserves. Her compassion for this gentleman gives me more faith in our society. So...yesterday me and my mom finally took the dive to try Five Guys. I got the double cheese burger and annoyed to see frys don't come with it. Pretty expensive but once I realized the large is not normal large and 2 days worth of frys, that suprized me. The burger was okay I guess and my first 2 bites I thought was no better than a double whopper but the meat and bun was actually edible without giving me the runs. The cheat was melted and my bun looked like it has been sat on like a regular soggy fast food joint such as Burger King. The free peanuts were fine but annoyed again that there is a rule if you take peanuts and don't finish em, you are forced to throw shat u didn't eat away or they might put em back which I think is very wasteful. I personally think when the Frack Burger was still in business...it was much better and your meal would have actually came with frys like it supposed to. Meh on my part. Most the people were standing around too. Maybe its just this place that wasn't good. Should try another Five Guys for benefit of the doubt like the Salem location. read more

Wow! This place is burger heaven! I ate a Five guys once in PA about 5 years ago, and it was great, so I had to try them again in OR. First of all, you know this is a burger lovers dream because a "regular" burger has 2 patties! You have to be some kind of pansy and order the "jr" to get a wimpy single pattie. Another great thing is extra toppings like grilled mushrooms or onions are free. When you order fries, not only do you get a cup of fries but a couple of extra scoops that cover the whole bottom of the bag. I had a bacon cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms, it was probably the best burger I've ever had in my life, no joke! The meat was cooked perfectly and so tender, that the two patties seemed like they were fused together to make a symphony of juicy beef goodness. I used to live in Las Vegas where "In N Out" was king, this place blows it away. I will definitely be coming back. Anyone who loves a nice fresh greasy burger will rejoice. Fries were excellent as well, hot and fresh, cooked in peanut oil. Anyone complains about grease or not being healthy, should realize it's a freakin burger, what do you expect? A while back, I had the pleasure of inhaling some of their food at O'Hara airport and my taste buds have been longing for five guys ever since. I saw this one newly opened on cedar hills blvd and walker rd. today and had to swing in to see if a repeat performance could possibly happen. The burger, freshly made came after a surprising short wait as the place was packed at about quarter till noon. As I was alone (and I dislike eating alone in public) I took the burger to my work truck and delicately unfolded the tinfoil wrapping in a manner similar to a young mans first time disrobing a young lady. What was inside was a delight to all the senses; two patties (!), onions, mushrooms, pickles and I opted for some jalapenos as well. All the fixin's are free, so go crazy. The juicy burger was cooked just right and was more than I could get my food-hole around. Delicious ! It lasted about 5 minutes (similar to aforementioned young lady experience....) My only complaint is the bun, hence the 4 stars. That poor little bun didn't stand a chance, it fell apart pretty quickly. I think a toasted bun would solve the problem and I'll find out if they'll do so the next time I go because next time I'm checking out the dogs.... read more

I'm not a huge burger-eater, so when I do decide to get one, I really want it to be good. From my 1-star rating, you can tell I was more than a bit disappointed by Five Guys. The crowds and lines out the door when it first opened drew me in. After trying it once, I can only say, "What the hell are people thinking??". McDonald's at least has tasty french fries. just was expecting some type of golden bun with this nonsense about its the best place to eat in Beaverton, maybe I got too much stuff on my burger, seemed like a great idea, it is at Fuddruckers, not here, the bun falls apart like this place called Rallys that used to exist in CA, except Rallys was this joint that was super cheap........ so once I tasted that same thing I just flashed back to the mid 90's when things were pretty strange........ I guess people want In n Out....
