A solid place to get some good food quick and at a reasonable price. The place has been here for as long as I can remember. The interior may seem a bit dated but was clean. We ordered the Chile Verde, Mexicali fries (sidewinder fries), beefy Nacho Supreme, and some street tacos (carnitas, language, and steak). The Chile Verde was excellent. I liked how the meat and flavor of the sauce went together. The meat was tender and ready to eat. The meat on the street tacos was also pretty good. I liked that they have a sauce bar that is self-service. I was able to try a bit of everything. Overall, it's worth coming and getting some good food.

Beefy nacho supreme

Full disclosure I have been coming here since 1992. It is my choice of LL of is Beaverton High students during off campus lunch. And even today, if I'm going to go through a drive way it will be here. They have an awesome staff who have worked there for years so they are efficient, friendly and speedy. Look I know it's weird to give a fast food restaurant a five star review but as far as fast food goes there is high quality. Always fresh and their prices have remained reasonable. The beefy nachos, and chili verde are some of my faves but I've never not liked anything and I never feel gross afterwards like some of those other fast food taco joints.

Lengua Taco, Nachos, & Chile Verde

I usually don't eat pork but decided to try the Chile Verde. The meat was so tender, perfectly cooked. Amazing. The beans were decent but the rice was probably the worst rice I've ever had. Tortillas were just hot & wet. All I ate was the meat, but that made it worth it! Nachos were "whatever" according to my husband. He said the real cheese & sauce were good, but the chips were a little stale & the olives were weird. As a Mexican woman, I 100% agree about the olives. I don't eat lengua, but my husband said it was the best lengua taco he's ever had in his life & would go buy 10 of them right now if he could. Really good spot, pleasantly surprised, just be careful when you go as they don't seem to have issues with drug addicts hanging out inside. There was a very high woman twitching & moving around at the table right across from us.

Not super beautiful, but super delicious

Most of the time, if I am sitting in a drive thru for more than 10 minutes I start getting frustrated and start tapping my steering wheel and my ears start to steam. This is because typically drive thru food is supposed to be fast and (not necessarily cheep anymore) . Some fast food restaurants do make items to order without freezing the food (I.e Wendy's) but their business model usually has the food come out quickly. Mexican restaurants are quite different however. I have previously gone to Victorico's on Cedar Hills Blvd and wasn't quite sure why I had to wait 15 minutes for my food. When I got home and opened the burritos I realized why. The same goes for Mexicali Express. While I did have to idle in my car for a few songs, the payoff was well worth it. All aspects of the food was amazing. The burrito was hot and fresh. It was very potato forward with just a little fried egg on the inside of the tortilla but the potato was good and tender. The bacon wasn't crispy but it was not soggy like most breakfast sandwiches out there. The red salsa was super flavorful with just enough heat to give me the kick I needed. My son devoured the pancakes. He said it had a slight peanut flavor to it, but he still enjoyed it. The syrup didn't taste store bought and it turns out I was dipping my burrito into butter which I thought was sour cream. It had to be made in house as well. Overall the entire meal was amazing and seeing as it is less than 2 miles away, I will probably will be making more trips

i like this place. It is not fancy. It is ugly outside but very clean, a little homely and honestly totally outdated inside. I just read that they've been here 25 years. The food is pretty reasonable and tastes good. The people are super nice. You have to be sweet to them, too. Tip them! Say thank you! Only fair since they are making you tasty food. I knows those reviews that say " I lived blah blah place so I know everything there is to know about such and such" are super annoying. I may have been guilty of that. Oops! I won't say that this time. I am no expert. I have made a lot of Mexican food in my day and it always tastes like a gringa made it even when I try REALLY hard. But I grew up in Arizona, attended college in Tucson, and before I moved to Oregon I lived on the Arizona/California/Mexico border and I developed maybe a tiny burrito habit. Okay possibly a mid sized addiction. My college friends and coworkers were predominantly Latinos and I was lucky enough to share their home cooked food. Tamales, homemade tortillas, flan, albondigas, migas, chilaquiles, posole, and carne asada among other things. A close college friend carried his mama's homemade salsa around with him and put it on EVERYTHING including pizza. (the stuff was like crack, seriously). This joint reminds me of humble places I used to grab a burrito or a plate of rice and beans with some chile verde and a pile of salsa. Their food has always been hot and fresh for us, we like the salsas, and my kid is fixated on their very simple guacamole. It comes in a good amount with a sprinkle of olives and chopped tomatoes on top which I noticed another yelper didn't appreciate and said was not " authentic". Pfft. Last night we hit the drive thru and I watched the nice Latina lady put those on our guac, and you know what? We dig it. She looked "authentic" doing it. It is essentially fast food and it is WAYYYY better than Taco Bell. They also serve breakfast burritos ALL day. And they are dang good. Maybe a little smaller than some other similar places on the west side as another yelper mentioned ( Don Chilito, Ochoa, Don Pedro, and Taco Del Sol - each good in their own way) but truly delicious and a bit cheaper. Buy TWO if you are starving or eat like a lumberjack. Teen always gets a horchata now. It is good too. Teen wanted me to mention that. It is not my thing, but it is creamy and cinnamony and seemed to hit the horchata mark. I say try Mexicali Express, and if you aren't a fan I listed the other places to try. It is good to go local. And we like this long time Beaverton spot.

They have fries instead mexifries Much Better for me. Hot and fresh

It was great! We had an assortment of menu items and all shared. We were disappointed the fries weren't the same as when in canby.

There are quite a few Mexican themed restaurants and food trucks within a mile or two. There is a large Mexican population living here and Mexican workers are all over the place. So to stand out a business would need to really separate themselves from the herd. That is, they need to stand out in a positive way. This place is a massive fail in that regard. I happen to enjoy Mexican cuisine a lot. I always appreciate being surprised by an amazing, tasty, reasonably priced, filling Mexican restaurant. There are several nearby neighborhood Mexican places that provide that experience consistently. This is not one of them. You will find unremarkable food here. Indifferent wait stall. A boringly average menu. Smaller portions at premium prices. Nothing to see here folks. This restaurant has had coupons in the local shoppers every week for decades. So when I decided to check this place out I showed up with one of those coupons. If I recall it was a coupon that took a dollar or two off the meal price if you spent more than a certain amount and ordered a specific set of items. So at checkout time they declined to accept the coupon because I ordered a medium drink and not a large. Huh? Rare for a business to use coupons to completely alienate new customers! Do I care about the two bucks that they chiseled out of me? No I do not. Would I ever patronize a business that is this out of touch with what good customer service is? No. Never been back. Never will. What the heck, Mazatlan has an unlimited supply of new customer prospects coming by so they don't need me, right? What a shabby outfit. YMMV.

I wanted pizza. He wanted a burrito. He had mentioned wanting to try this food truck so I looked it up on Yelp (obviously!) And got the address. He got two different salsas a red and a green and he got a side of pickled veggies. Which were jalapenos, carrots and onions. He got his order super fast and I said that's a small burrito lol but it was just the side of pickled veggies. But when we got home he said WHOA this burrito is huge!!! He couldn't eat it all in one sitting. He ate the green sauce and said it was one of the best hot sauces he'd ever had. I licked the lid and he wasn't wrong. The flavor was so rich and there was heat but it wasn't overwhelming the flavor. Very very good. He didn't try the red sauce so I didn't get to try it. The pickled vegetables though. OM*G they are THE BEST I've ever tasted. Such good acidity and flavorful as *^%# YES this stuff was amazing. He said next time he's going to pack the box full of them lol. Frankly I'd go there JUST for those veggies and hot sauce. He said 5 stars GREAT value and great flavor. So we will absolutely be back!!! Oh and next time (sorry y'all) I'll get pictures!!!

I really should have stopped there. They were very filling. I don't know what I was expecting but they are potato taquitos and topped with meat. A good amount of it too. The bummer is that it did not travel well. When I fit home I ate the crispy ends off but has the middles as leftovers. Almost like chilaquiles. The pork taco was very good. I like the microgreens on it. I was hoping the tortilla was fluffier but can't argue with handmade tortillas The fish taco was put together well but I am not a big fan of chipotle. It was glazed in chipotle and the slaw was chipotle so I was not a fan. For the size and quality the price is right. On par with any decent taco place around.

Food: The margaritas were simple but outstanding -- refreshing, balanced, and not overly sweet. The fried chayote completely surprised me. If you've never had chayote, it's a mild, slightly crisp squash. Here, it was fried golden and light with a tender bite inside. The dipping sauce was incredibly flavorful -- bold, savory, and layered. Every bite honestly punched my taste buds in the best way possible. Nothing bland here. We also ordered the braised beef taquitos, and wow. Crispy on the outside, filled with potatoes, and topped with flavorful delicious beef on top and clearly made fresh to order.
