It's been a while since my last visit but I decided to come here and treat myself to a yummy bahn mi and a taro boba for lunch. I'm so glad to see they open early at 9am and close later at 8pm. This is definitely a popular spot for the local since there were quite a few people coming in and out around 10:30am on a Friday when I went. Plenty of parking in the lot shared with a few other businesses right across from the Cedar Hill Crossing center. When you first walk in, you see the big case of steaming buns. They were around $4 each but they were HUMUNGOUS! I didn't get any this time but probably will return and try them next time. I forgot they also sold baked goods there and was so happy to see the $2 price tag for my favorite red bean buns. (Sorry forgot to take a picture of the bakery shelf but they had many options like bbq pork bun, pork floss buns and custard buns too.) The service wasn't overly friendly but they were fast and efficient and definitely knew what they are doing. The blended taro smoothie I got satisfied my craving and they were definitely generous with the amount of fresh sweet chewy boba. I got the BBQ pork bahn mi. The baguette bread was perfection - crunchy on the outside (but no the hurt the roof of your mouth kind) and pillowy and soft on the inside. I didn't feel like the carrots and daikon radish were pickled enough and although I had a good amount of BBQ pork in my sandwich, a lot of pieces were very fatty or almost all fat. It was still super tasty though, especially for the $6.50 price tag you really can't beat it. The grilled pork banh mi is a hit (cue chef's kiss). The baguette is crunchy af too! It has a slight spice to it from the jalapeños, so if you don't like spiciness, make sure to let them know. I tried to call before heading over and the number goes straight to voicemail, which I understood why -- there is an endless line of people waiting to order in-person. This was my first time here and it will be my last time here. I ordered the #1 (Best baguette), not good. First of all, the baguette was dried out and hard, when I bit into the bread it was shattered, it was like a baguette grenade. The amount of meat was almost non existent. There was literally 2 shreds of daikon, 2 long stems of cilantro with 1 leave on each stem and excessively overloaded with shredded carrot. The jalapeño was cut julienned into 3 pieces, not deveined or de seeded. The staff was nice, and the tables were clean, which I do not find at very many places anymore. I saw this establishment in a magazine featuring the top 10 sandwiches in Portland area. I was very excited to check this place out, but was let down and borderline offended by the quality of the sandwich. The pics in the magazine were amazing but did not align with the actual product in reality. This is quite possibly the worst banh mi sandwich I've ever had, such a let down, a Bahn mi made properly with love is such an amazing experience, and is not very difficult. On my way out, I went to get a refill on my soda. As I pressed the fill lever on the dispenser, the soda sprayed out all over my hand, shirt and floor. I tried another dispenser and got the same result. I looked under the dispenser and found the nozzles had been removed, I asked the staff if they had removed the nozzles, they confirmed yes, that they were cleaning them. I asked why would they do this with customers in the store, you do this at the end of the night after closing. People are using this soda dispenser and the staff posted no signage, warning them. What a bunch of morons!! this type of B.S. will definitely chase the customers away. I definitely will not be returning. read more

I love Best Baguette! My go to Bahn Mi choice. My favorite is the #9 BBQ Pork. We've tried several but that's My favorite. Vegetables are nicely pickled, crisp and obviously fresh; Jalapeños and cilantro are fresh and the bread is always crisp on the exterior and pillowy soft on the inside. I think the drinks are over priced but the sandwiches themselves are well priced and so delicious that on occasion I will spring for a drink. Just feels crazy to pay more for a Milk Coffee than a sandwich! Service is always good no matter which location I have visited. Polite and respectful. The name for this place is right on point. They bake a lot of bread here. It's all delicious. The service is friendly. Even on a busy day they are still pretty fast. I used to love this place, I had given it 4 stars before, but not anymore. I think our on/off relationship is over for good this time. It use to be due to lack of consistency, now it is because it's been consistently not good. We had the pork and chicken baguettes. They are big, but there was little chicken in the chicken sandwich, the pork had a normal amount. There was also no mayo or so little we couldn't taste it, so it was a super dry sandwich. The bread wasn't so fresh, kinda crumbly. The sandwiches also smelled weird. I gave my friend the cream puff, she said it tasted old. I tried it, it didn't just taste old, it tasted absolutely rotten! I am just glad that we didn't get food poisoning. I forgot to take photos of the sandwiches because we were hungry and ate fast (but didn't enjoy it!), but my friend has the receipt. I was a fan since 2009 when sandwiches were $2.50, now they're $7, but the quality and taste has gone super downhill, which is sad. I had almost lost all hope that I'd ever find any as good as back home, so I'd ordered Best Baguette on a whim after hearing people rave about it on Reddit. I had their special delivered to my door before a 6 hour roadtrip. I didn't even take a photo before I started eating on the drive, but quickly realized my mistake so here is half of the sandwich. This has alll the fillings, they didn't skimp on any veggies or meat. They also have Vietnamese mayo!!!! You don't realize how much you miss that until you go several restaurants without it! The banh mi is on a freshly baked french baguette, it has house mayo [similar to japanese mayo, a bit more creamy, different taste], pickled radish & carrots, and jalapeno slices. I really appreciate all vegetables vertically cut. Along with tofu with glass noodles and green onion. It is simple yet complex and so flavorful! They will ask you if you would like the veggies inside your sandwich or not, and/or if no veggies. They also have a handful of traditional Vietnamese asian dessert and French desserts as well. We got the special banh Mi and the grilled pork banh Mi, both were delicious. The baguette is perfectly crusty on the outside, pickled vegetables are fresh, and the meat is very well-seasoned. We also got a large iced milk coffee. The coffee is definitely strong here, as it should be! It is sweet but without overpowering the coffee taste. We also got a large meatball bun. It's huge! We could only finish half after each having a sandwich. This bun is only available thurs-Sun, highly recommend trying it. It is definitely homemade and not frozen.
