The patty on my "Double Smasher" was cooked just like a regular patty from Sonic - only thinner. It also had way too much salt. Perhaps some Sonic somewhere is actually making a smash patty, but not this one. Other foods on their menu are typically fine - the Sonic Cheeseburger or the All American hot dog; but skip the "Smasher" because it's nothing like the picture except maybe the bun.
