I will say there were very few matching pots, so I was lucky. But the prices were much better than big box stores. Very large pots were $60 here, compared to $150 elsewhere. I also got two soaker hoses for $10 each. They had a large selection of rugs, all manner of non-refrigerated groceries, pool stuff, electronic accessories, hair appliances, housewares, party supplies, etc. The cashier was extremely friendly and helpful, and signed me up for their free rewards card. And, OMG, they had GLUTEN-FREE OREOS!! I absolutely do not need to be eating cookies, but how could I resist? They were cheaper than at the supermarket. Sigh.

Did not find any expired foods although I don't recommend anybody shop in a dollar store for food. Lots of cheaply-made items. No wonder they cost only $1. Example: a corkscrew got stuck in the cork of a wine bottle. I rushed out and bought a good one from the local wine store. Another example: a sink plunger did not dislodge the source of a clogged drain. I headed straight to Home Depot to buy an effective one. The Dollar Store is good for the purchase of seasonings. My chicken comes out so flavorful when I season it with Supreme Tradition Seasoning Salt and Italian Seasoning. Discard all bottles a few months after purchase, or else they will get cake up or/and get stale. This store is excellent for the purchase of birthday, anniversary and holiday cards. They also have a ballon center, gift bags and plenty of decorations. Lines move quickly except around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Large parking lot surrounds the building and fits about 40 vehicles. Most staff wear masks. Overall, I am satisfied with this store for some of my shopping needs.

I had my own bag and even told him I have my own bag and he waved me off and started putting everything in to a paper bag with out saying anything. I assumed he just didn't care and wasn't going to charge me for it. when I got home, I saw he still charged me for it. It's 5 cents, it's a very small non issue, but part of bigger problem with him. I got him again a few times and have had to basically tell him in a stern tone I have my own bag, while holding it up and he just gave an annoyed sigh last time. I paid for my things and in the few seconds I looked down at my wallet to put my card away and looked up he had just vanished in to thin air. I do have to say every one else, for the most part, is great. I especially love the older lady, she is so kind and sweet.

I have had to rely on stores like HomeGoods for kitchen gadgets, flower pots, garden stuff, sheets, towels, etc, since Tuesday Morning closed their stores. HomeSense has a large selection of furniture, lamps, art, and other accessories, as well as kitchenware. This particular time, I was on a mission. I needed a fabric-covered lidded box in navy and white. The search had so far proved fruitless. Marshall's had one box, in sage green with peach flowers. I went to HomeSense, and they had a blue and white lidded box! They also had gluten-free Italian pasta! I looked at the framed art, because I need a frame (not art) in a particular size for a canvas painting, but there wasn't one in the size that I needed. It's generally less expensive to buy framed art on clearance, keep the frame, and donate the art, than it is to buy an empty frame elsewhere. Strange but true. On a previous visit, I found two battery-operated wall sconces, which were exactly what I needed for my dining room. I also found some pink flamingo things, which were inexpensive and irresistible. I was also looking for one tier curtain, but they only had floral sets. I may have to sew one myself. They did have a huge selection of curtain panels. I spoke with one associate and the cashier, and they were both very pleasant. Prices are generally very reasonable, and they usually have a great selection of almost everything. It's similar to HomeGoods, but has much more furniture and lamps. There were some beautiful leather club chairs, which I may be able to use in the future. Hopefully they'll have some when I go back.

Some of them have expanded offerings which aren't as good as what they are primarily known for. The store is immaculate and well staffed. It's similar to the one on the Upper East Side. The produce is beautiful and looks curated. There were some very niche offerings, like fiddlehead ferns. Citarella started out as a fish store on the Upper West Side. They have an extensive, excellent selection of seafood. Their butcher shop is hilarious. Prices vary from nosebleed inducing to heart stopping. It makes dinner at a steakhouse a good value proposition by comparison. Hopefully some finance bros will take advantage of paying as much as possible for a product. There's a good looking salad bar and breakfast bar. Breakfast sandwiches were reasonably priced. There were a bunch of nice pre made salads and sandwiches. The prepared foods at Citarella's are excellent. Their crab cakes and fish cakes are great. I'm a big fan of the pork chop Milanese that they stock at their Upper East Side location. I lobbied the manager to offer it here. The baked goods looked great and are competitively priced. Finally, there's a big selection of grocery store items. A great addition to the area. A lot of their stuff is excellent. Avoid the ridiculously overpriced stuff and enjoy what Citarella's is good at.

I've always been a bit skeptical as to the origin of such products, but I suppose if I needed something in a pinch I'd drop back in. if you shop for love in a bargain store and you don't get what you bargained for, can you get your money back?
