I have actually tried reaching out to corporate several times to make them aware but to no avail. The employees are slowwwww at the register, never ever clean the store and I always hear them complain about how much they hate working there. I literally feel like I'm in the twilight zone whenever I've had to go there for something. I work down the street and this location is most convenient when in need of something cheap. Corporate, for the love of everything holy... VISIT THIS LOCATION! They desperately need an overhaul on just about everything and everyone. Nothing is ever in its place and I was nastily told that Dollar Tree doesn't, and never did, sell round table clothes, when I went there looking for my son's graduation party. I stood in the store while pulling their website up and low and behold guess what I found?!? Yea you guessed it. It's very large, and one of the book aisles is partially blocked by chairs, alas. I ended up with more books, three of which I already had, sadly. They don't allow book returns or exchanges, which does suck. I also found some fun old DVD sets, like McHale's Navy and Gilligan's Island. My grandmother was friends with Tina Louise's mother. An odd bit of trivia, lol. Sometimes the pure innocence of old, old shows is relaxing. I also snagged an unusual handkerchief vase. It will work very well for huge flowers like hydrangeas or peonies. Prices are usually fair. There was an entire set of china for $50, and crystal wineglasses were $5 or so for sets of two. One thing that I like about Savers is that they usually price sets together, unlike other chains that price every piece separately. While this can make sense if you only need one, selling in sets is more practical. How often do people need one curtain? The only time that I ever bought one curtain, it wasn't in a thrift. I cut it up and made two cafe curtains. This Savers also has one GIANT advantage over other Savers: you can take the carts out of the store!! Woohoo!! Because I mostly buy books and crystal, this is HUGE. I was delighted. And returned the cart to the store, of course. They had two unmanned registers and the usual self-checkouts. There were four employees chatting by the registers, and when I asked if it was possible to be checked out, a nice man said immediately that he would help me. So while it's disappointing that I already had three of the books, I will just donate them to the Yellow Barn. There is a massive clothing selection, but I don't need any clothes. I did look at some jeans out of curiosity. Prices range from $7 to $15, roughly, depending on brand. I love jeans, but only wear a fairly narrow range of brands. They rarely end up in thrift stores. I did luck out years ago and found a pair of Roberto Cavalli in my size, but that was truly rare.

Today I visited ShopRite in Patchogue as I do regularly. My visit was fine and I paid for my items and on the way out my young daughter wanted to buy something from the vending machines using her own money. All of the machines there dispense junk but there is one that she likes and has used before. I approve of this machine because it is clear on what you will get. The sign on the machine says "Squishy Bears, collect them all" and you can see them in the machine. It is not a game of a chance, it is very clear. She put her 75 cents in and something completely different came out, not what the machine clearly explains would, a squishy bear. This would have been her third bear from the machine but Instead she got a little tiny item not worth a cent and it was not a bear. I don't know what it was. Not a big deal, but since I am trying to teach my daughter the value of a dollar I asked the gentleman at the desk by the machines what he could do. It was clear he did not know what to do so I asked him to watch my cart while I went to customer service which he graciously did. The young lady at customer service explained to me that the machines are owned by a vendor and they are not responsible. I replied that I would like to speak to a manager and also explained, in a nice way, that the store should take responsibility for their vendors if they are not doing the right thing. I also explained that it was my daughter's money that we were speaking of. She called for a supervisor but no one came. She then had to walk to get him. When he finally arrived he was very short, couldn't care less and did not give me a second to explain my concern. He took no responsibility and basically told me it was not the store's problem. I let him know that my daughter wanted her money back. It was more than clear she did not get what she paid for. I was pretty annoyed but courteous. In return I treated like I was a problem to them and my concern that my 7 year old was ripped off was none of their concern. The manager did finally return my daughter's 75 cents but I needed to tell him again that he needed to return my daughter's money. Concerning that customers service needed a manager for this situation but crazy this was not clear to the store manager what the right thing to do here was. As he walked away he waived his hand as to say get lost. Not apologizing to me, whatever. Thinking he was not going to make this right for my child, disgraceful. What bothers me is that store staff could not understand why I would ask them to assist over 75 cents and wanted a 7 year old to take the short end of the stick. I was hoping to show my daughter it ok to speak up when something is not right. What was small to those I encountered was not small to her and I was certain they would assist with a smile. Since the manager could not care less and dismissed me and showed no empathy for my daughter's experience I will explain my story here in a public forum. As a business you are responsible for your vendors. Let me be clear on why. In this case your vendor and the stores lack of concern may have cost this business in my estimation a minimum of $7k year in revenue. A lot more than those machines are bringing in. I wonder if the store manager holds other vendors accountable, it is concerning. Now this whole event took less time than it did to write this review, a matter of minutes so I will leave you with this, it takes years to earn a customer and seconds to loose one. I would suggest to put money in that machine and see what happens. A true scam or a mistake, not sure but It was simple, give this child"s money back when it was clearly the right thing to do. I will have to make some decisions here. I would be happy to discuss as my daughter deserves an apology. No reply shows complicity.

I can't quite put my finger on why this store is somewhat off-putting There are a few major brands, but mostly none that I wear. There were a lot of Dickie's pants and Nine West clothing. The purse selection was mostly Steve Madden, Nine West, or Disney/cartoon characters. I didn't see anything in real leather. Only six items are allowed in the fitting rooms, although you can keep swapping out clothes. I tried on two pairs of pants. The Levi's were labeled as imperfect. But I think that's because they were not the size they said they were. I did end up finding two fall sweaters in lovely neutral colors. But they're not cashmere. One is Joie, which is a brand I do like. It's a chunky knit with an interesting collar. The other is sort of a knit coat, great for cool but not cold days. It's very simple and unadorned. I might add a frog closure. There were only two cashiers and a very long line. You can't take the carts out of the store. I had bought a large mirror, and couldn't carry both the mirror and the sweaters, so that was annoying. But the very nice security guard loaded it into my car when I pulled up. Prices are typical of a discount store. The mirror was on clearance for $20. A most excellent purchase, because the one that I have at home is so heavy that it bent the hooks. This one is very light and the same size. Not mother of pearl, of course, but a similarly pearl-colored frame. I don't think that I would shop here regularly. I like cashmere, wool, cotton, and leather. The TJX stores do carry those. But I'm quite pleased with the mirror and sweaters. I also got some Philosophy body wash. It's about the same price as TJX. Perfume selection was mostly celebrity scents and obscure brands, or brands sold at drugstores.
