Imagine your dog looks at you and despite knowing she had just stolen your hamburger off the counter yesterday and had profuse diarrhea everywhere as a result, she looks so damn cute and you know you've got to find her the perfect toy. So you go to Five Below. You're casually browsing the store and you pick up a dog toy, and then place it back, as you deem it not worthy of your beautiful dog Heidi and you walk away. Suddenly, a tall security guard confronts you, asking you where it is. You say, "I don't know, I put it back somewhere". I am an adult. I've never been accused of stealing before. I am a productive member of society, just trying to live my life, just trying to find a toy for my sometimes mischievious hamburger-eating dog child. He doesn't believe you. He starts becoming more aggressive. Finally, when you think you're about to be arrested wearing sweatpants because you just wanted to casually pick up a dog toy at the store, he finds the sacred $5 dog toy and realizes you weren't a thief afterall. At this point, most human beings would feel remorse. "Damn, I just accused a middle-aged lady of stealing a cheap dog toy." "I just embarrassed her in front of the entire store." "I better apologize profusely" No, none of these thoughts crossed this security guard's mind. Instead, he demanded that she leave. (This happened to my mother-in-law). He kicked her out of the store like a criminal. I don't know if it was racism or this guy had attended one of those "alpha male" bootcamps and was demonstrating his new found masculinity on her, but either way, it was a horrible experience and to make matters worse, nobody at the store would apologize for his behavior. She won't be back. She'd rather let Heidi eat a hamburger off the counter everyday and have to clean up her profuse diarrhea everyday than to ever visit this establishment again. Thanks! read more

This review is for Amber specifically. Every time I go in there that girl is HUSTLING. And she does it with such a positive outlook and a smile. This store needs to get more staffing as the people they have are overwhelmed and it reflects in how messy the store is overall. They can only do so much but are doing their best. Five Below has a little bit of everything and mostly for little money. It's where it is safe to take a grandchild for a treat and no he/she won't be insisting on a $50 toy. They have everything from seasonal items, candy, makeup, toys, books (some of these I felt are overpriced), and telephone accessories. The store always seems busy and well-received by kids. Unfortunately, they aren't always respectful of other customers or the merchandise. I feel sorry for employees who are endlessly trying to straighten up. Frankly, I hate self-checkouts. They usually act up when I arrive but my last few trips were uneventful. Most of the staff appear young, happy, and eager to help. read more

Desert ridge location is the best location! So many places to shop. This is definitely a fun atmosphere Walking into five below. OMG! Great stuff there. So much phone chargers. I came here to do some impulse shopping while I was here and to replace something else I got at a Five Below a long time ago. The box for the item was dusty but at least I am not wearing the box. While I was here a maskless guard followed me and other people around. It felt invasive since the guards in my area wore masks and I don't want to be hanging around a potential vector of transmission. They had self checkouts. While I didn't feel like talking to anyone the cashier socialized with me. This plaza had a lot of low end beggars in it. While I was preparing to leave I believe one approached my car to beg for money, but at least it was ignorable. I would have peeled out if I knew the roads better. The experience was extremely socially uncomfortable. I didn't ask for human interaction. But I won't go lower since nothing went wrong. read more

Worst experience ever. The mid 50s employee with brown curly hair was extremely rude. She seemed very upset to help me open the restroom door since there is a pin. She kept sighing and rolling her eyes. I felt so awkward. Then she told me that I should've waited for the costumer to open the door and went after them quickly. I understand that however she wasn't understanding and seemed very annoyed of me asking her for a favor. However, the employee with long pink hair was very nice and eager to help. I was happy to see one open up in Arizona! We love coming here and always leave with more then we need! The staff is really friendly and sometimes a certain manager will give our kids a goodie which the LOVE! Depending when you come, it can be nice and neat OR a neat mess. Weekends are crazier here so it's best to come in the mornings or during the week. The bathrooms are clean and also require an employee to open. I did notice that prices are now $5+ but most items are still under $5. Perfect for any budget to shop here! read more

I was looking for an exercise Pilates item someone posted on the Pickleball forum on FB. Called around and TJM, WM etc were out of stock. I figured it must be due to the impending supply chain lag. Then I remembered 5 Below and called them. Complete turn around when the lady told me they had a ton of them. Promptly jumped in my car and went out to this location. The security guy 'Brandon' who used to be in sales and has done different assignments was a wealth of info. Great customer service that I appreciated very much. So, as elated as I was to have found what I was looking for at half the price of the best deal the guy added to my up tempo mood. I have anticipated these stores coming to AZ and now there are multiple but this one is the closest to me. It is so filthy and never stocked. It looks like Black Friday just ended every time I go in there. I will be driving the extra 20 miles to the next closest one to avoid this one. Bring the stores further west to Peoria/Surprise instead of the ghetto. read more

While my wife and I were shopping in the store, there were children playing in the store recklessly. The kid cane around and kicked me in my leg, did not apologize and ran away like it was funny. I left it alone, but then the same kid kicked the ball he was playing with and it hit my two month old'a car seat. This is when I brought it to the store clerks attention. I asked him "can you do something about the children playing violently around the store?" to which this useless employee stated "no I can't. They have permission to be playing." So I replied about how he hit my sons car seat with the ball and this guy says "Well their parents should be watching them." As if that makes it not his problem???? It's their store????? Not to mention they were doing interviews in the middle of the isles while people were trying to shop and all dressed in pajamas. Wanted to like the five below here I am from Chicago the 5 below here is like night and day . I would never here very disappointing not the same quality not setup here . The variety here really poor nothing like Chicago . What I see here is fixable if management were to listen to the consumers . Self checkout needs to go a-w-a-y the stores here are trying to be over the top . Give below should be what it claims to be $5 & below not $1, $5, $10 items nothing I saw here was worth that also no variety in name brand toys very very poor selection better items online .I am VERY disappointed after I bragged to everyone about this store too my family & friends not was my face red this was nothing more than an over the top dollar store I get ppl are blogging about the store now .
