I was on FaceTime with a friend and placed her on hold as I walked to the cashier to show the backpack I brought with me. I clearly explained that I had it for donations to Jamaica, and the cashier acknowledged and verbally agreed that it was okay. To be sure there was no confusion, I repeated myself three times and received clear confirmation each time. I then walked around the store in good spirits--talking with other customers and staff, browsing the aisles to find the right items to pack. I didn't have a purse or anything else with me, just the backpack. Around 9:30 a.m., I was unexpectedly approached by the police and told to leave because I was allegedly trespassing. No information or explanation was provided to me on why this report was made. Situations like this raise questions about customer rights and how policies are applied. Under Minnesota trespassing law (Minn. Stat. § 609.605), a person commits trespass only if they enter or remain on property without consent or after being told to leave. In this case, I entered with explicit staff consent--confirmed multiple times--and complied immediately when asked to leave. This kind of incident can create a harmful and confusing experience for community members acting in good faith, especially when trying to do something positive like organizing donations. I'll be tagging Dollar Tree (Roseville, MN - 1121 Larpenteur Ave W, Store #3036) to bring awareness to what happened and hopefully encourage a review of how situations like this are handled. Consumers deserve respect and fair treatment -- especially when we're engaging with honesty and kindness.

I went to the Dollar General off of Suburban Ave in St. Paul yesterday and saw scissors on sale…read morewith a posted price. I took 6 of them, leaving 1 on the peg. Each pair ended up costing me $2. more! There was a weird issue with the card reader preventing me from looking at each price scanned so I didn't notice the price until after I paid. I saw a man that appeared to be a supervisor (only 2 employees in the store that I could see) and told him what happened. He told me I had to stand in the (very long) line again. WTH??!!! After I got up there, I showed the cashier and him a picture of the shelf that showed the price and scissors still on the peg and they tried to "argue" with me stating the price said "kids" scissors. These scissors weren't quite full sized, so I thought they were correct as well as why would 7 pairs be hanging on the peg with the sale price underneath it if they weren't the correct scissors. The attitude of the cashier was much worse than the manager's but nevertheless, totally unacceptable. Since they must have thought I was trying to get away with something, I told them they could look on the cameras to see the truth. I drove from a nearby suburb to check out what they had there, not really wanting anything in particular and probably won't be go back there IN A LONG TIME, IF EVER! Unbelievable!
