Unfortunately, I have to knock these folks down a few stars - 2 stars!…read more Abigail Page managed to REALLY tick me off. I'm super disappointed. I've been watching a pair of 1951 Reglor Lamps advertised in Facebook Marketplace, showing a photo of them in the front window. I happened to be meeting a friend for lunch in Hudson so I made sure to bring $400 cash and to stop in after our meal. 1. Apparently, the lamps are no longer in the store. But the 2 staff running the shop couldn't tell me anything about them. Where are they? Why are they still listed in Facebook? 2. The worst part of the interaction was I got the "fake polite" treatment. Friendly but not really friendly and more passive aggressive, if you know what I mean. I'm used to that treatment in Minnesota. It seems to be part of our cultural DNA. But I'm surprised to encounter it in Wisconsin. 3. The staff running the shop weren't able to access the store listing on Facebook. Why? 4. When I got home, I sent a direct message to the store on Facebook from their listing to ask about the lamps. Are they gone? Why is there still an active listing? 5. It's been 8 days. The listing is still up. No one has answered my direct message on Facebook. All of this stuff is ridiculous. Everyone knows that is takes 30 seconds to respond to a message on Facebook. All of these negative vibes could have been avoided if someone simply responded to me, apologized, promised to do better next time, and to request that I please visit again. I'd still be a customer. As it is now, I'll never walk through the front door again. So...I'm feeling pretty negative about Abigail Page. I guess they're okay if you wander in off the street, buy something off a shelf, and walk out with your item. But if you see something on-line, buyer beware. And keep an eye out for the smarmy attitudes. - Maxx

I stopped at the Maplewood Menards Garden Center and found a couple potted plants that I liked…read more There was a sale sign saying they were $10.99 for a 10-inch container but I only saw 2 of that size. I inquired if they had more and was told 'no'. I asked if they could tell me if other stores had them available, but they said they don't inventory seasonal garden plants. An associate suggested I try the Oakdale Menards so I drove over there. I located the items and brought 5 of them to the checkout. Unfortunately, they rang up at $14.99 each. I asked why they were not the same price as they were in Maplewood and the cashier called for a manager. The manager reiterated that the price was $14.99 so I asked if she could contact the Maplewood store and verify the difference. She walked away and started helping another customer. At that point, I called the Maplewood store myself. The man who answered, listened as I explained the situation and I told him exactly where the plants in question were located -- at the garden center entrance, sitting on a small stone wall in front of the water features. He put the phone down and was gone for what seemed like an eternity. (In hindsight, I think he may have hoped I would get tired of waiting and just hang up.) Finally, he returned and answered the phone like he had forgotten who I was and why I was holding. I refreshed his memory and then he told me that they didn't have any those plants, but if they did, they would be $14.99. I said I was just there 20 minutes ago and saw them! He told me that items in the garden center sell quickly and there was nothing he could do for me. So, I drove back to the Maplewood Menards and there sat the 2 plants in the same place I had described. However, the $10.99 sign had been removed! On my way into the store, I also noticed a rack of annuals in front of the main store entrance and saw 5 additional containers with the same plants that I wanted. SO, I WAS LIED TO!!! At the garden center I requested the cashier call a manager, preferably the man I previously spoke to on the phone. I was told that he was the store manager, but that another manager would come talk to me. Needless to say, I gave that manager a piece of my mind. If the $10.99 signage was incorrect, I would have appreciated an explanation -- maybe the sign was for a sale that was no longer in effect and accidentally not taken down. I would have understood that. I just resent the fact that Menards management took no responsibility and tried to cover up their mistakes. This is the worst kind of customer service -- untruthful and underhanded!!

There are no employees available anywhere except at the front check out. There were two check out lanes open and three self checkout computers. One employee had to stand near the self checkout to call people over to use them. The employees, including the one who was currently ringing someone up, would be yelling out to the line ... "If you are paying by credit or debit, there are self checkout registers open." Because I wasn't using self- checkout, the woman finished my order without ever talking to me except when she yelled across, "I can help the next person." There was no further talking. My items were simply tossed in a bag. Somehow 2 of the 4 spools of thread that I wanted to purchase got lost before I bought them. The store was hot, busy, chaotic, with a meandering line instead of one that followed the path they prefer because there were not enough associates. I did find all the items I needed. However, all categories of merchandise were spread apart because there would be some in the aisle and some in the end caps. It was a frustrating and still productive trip.
