It's a large B&N - much larger than the new one in Manassas that opened last year. And it has a B&N Cafe - which the new Manassas location does not have. After wandering the store, I picked up a hardcover of "The Silmarillion," one that I had not seen before. It's essentially re-packaging the outside of the book - but I wanted another copy. The checkout line was a bit long - there are 4 cashier stations. Paid with Apple Pay. Then headed over to the cafe to caffeinate. They continue to feature Starbucks coffee. I ordered a Venti cold brew with Half n' Half - and a blueberry scone heated up - to enjoy in the Cafe. Also paid with Apple Pay. The store has free WiFi available. As soon as I entered - I was immediately greeted by Shadow - - the shop dog - a black Cocker Spaniel with long, fluffy hair on his legs and paws - so long that it looked like the legs of a Clydesdale! Very cute and friendly little dog! I met "Bev," the lady who owns and runs the place - she immediately came over to ask if she could help me - I told her I just wanted to look around. So there are shelves and shelves of ceramic stuff. Ornaments, figurines, statues, plates, mugs - anything that can be made of ceramic is here - but in an unfinished state. You have the option of buying something, picking out your own paints and glazes, coloring it the way you want it - then you have them fire the objects to "cook" the finish onto the ceramic. You can paint your stuff on the premises - or you can take it with you - paint it, and bring it back when you are ready. Could be a fun idea for an outing - take in a group - everyone picks out a ceramic item - everyone paints their item and then gets it fired in the Kiln. They also sell paints, glazes, clay supplies and such.

Looking for things to do for the week this place popped into my head as I drive past it everyday on my way to work. We head out from home and get there around 10:30 to be greeted by Bev and Shadow as we walked in. Bev told us how it worked, there is one shelf with bisque items that are $20 inclusive and other shelves filled with lots of items with their base prices indicated. By inclusive I mean $20 buys you the piece, whatever glazes you want to sit and use and the final firing of the piece. Other pieces are priced by just the cost of the actual piece, you multiply that by 5 if you want glaze and firing. Most mugs, cups and plates I looked at would be somewhere in the $20-35 range, inclusive. There are tables with workspace, brushes and glazes and Bev helps set you up with a mat of butcher paper to work on, a tray of glaze colors and a bowl of water for washing your brushes. My daughter took a little while to warm up to it but she was having a grand time by the end painting her masterpieces (cupcake mug and heart-shaped plate). I painted the world's largest coffee mug for myself. We spent about an hour and a half or so and the total cost was $87, we picked up the pieces 2 days later. My daughter wants to eat dinner off them every night.

HUGE used book store and well worth the drive!…read more Their trade in process was really straightforward - when you walk in there's a trade in counter where they ask you to put your books into bins. I had one large bag that I sorted between two bins, one for books and the other for single issue comics and DVDs/non-books. About 45 minutes later I got a text that my trade-in was ready. I came back to the same counter after browsing the store and they offered me in-store credit or a lower amount in cash. They also returned the items they didn't want and I had the option to take them with me or leave them as a donation. I think it was a fair deal for what I donated, and I opted for the in-store credit. The store has a great mix of used books, dvds, comics, vinyl, and more that's pretty well organized. I will say there's a fair amount of duplicates of certain titles and it was interesting that some were priced higher than others - so check all the labels! In general the prices were reasonable with a few exceptions - I saw a really worn copy of a new hardback that they were selling for the list price ($35!) even though it had been out long enough that other books sellers were discounting it already. But then I also got a box set of dvds for $10 and a bunch of kids books for $0.50-2.00. It was easy to spend that in-store credit!

In general the amount of 3-5 dollar games that they are trying to pass off as 15 - 20 dollar games is dis gracefully disgusting. The point of traveling to these stores are to get the good deals. All of the inventory they have are traded in for or donated so it makes NO sense! It seems that the employees make guesses when it comes to prices, that or they are being told to overprice by upper management. By the gaming section there was a sign that claimed that all of the consoles and equipment is tested beforehand by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" whatever that means. I got an Xbox One Kinect from them back in December, and worked normally. A couple days later I wanted to try using its mic functionality, was not functioning. So it was never fully tested by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" lol. The worst part is that they give you a 3 day warranty... it's not like people have kids, jobs, or other commitments I guess. The media (dvds and blu rays) were also overpriced per usual. Usually only by 5-10 bucks. My main discrepancy today was that I saw multiple dvds and blu rays with dirt and filth smattered on the covers. Your telling me that they have the audacity to up charge, and still refuse to even spend 10 seconds wiping the cover with a lysol wipe? Is it that hard to do? Disgusting! I can't speak on their book pricing as I am not well versed but pretty much everything else is overpriced in this store. It really sucks because these type of stores are supposed to be for lower income families who can't buy new. And instead is being treated like a greedy gaming convention booth. I genuinely feel bad for kids nowadays who want to start growing a small gaming collection post pandemic. With greedy "thrift" stores like this, even the shovel ware games are off-limits.

My one complaint is that it takes them a while to process your donations and you only have 24 hours to accept the offer they give you. If you came from Maryland like we did, this isn't helpful. I wish there were extra staff members to process your donations while you shopped so you could accept before leaving. Overall, a cool store. Being that I love 25 miles away I came back to the store 2 weeks later.. the manager said they "recycled them" and basically I was shit out of luck..
