I used to love this place but my daughter and I had lunch here today and it was absolutely terrible. The pulled pork nachos had no meat and tasted terrible and my daughters bun was charred and so were here fries. Our server was great and did good but the food and cooks definitely missed the mark. Most of my reviews are positive, this one, not so much. Unfortunately everything was blah, from the service to the food. Our server seemed to struggle; I asked about a specialty drink listed on the menu, and trying to get a gauge on its popularity was a challenge. I used to enjoy visiting Fitzs in U City, then I moved south and couldn't get my fix anymore. Then completely out of the blue, I discovered the South County location, and it's every bit a good as the original. 7/5/24: my family and I went to Outback for dinner and noticed the sign for Fitz's claiming bogo free floats on Fridays. We decided to walk over after dinner and asked the host if it was really bogo free floats today. She confirmed and brought us to a table that was covered in melted ice cream and had duct tape holding the booth together. Before we could ask for it to be cleaned, she was gone so we sat at the clean table next to it. Then our waitress came and we wanted to confirm again about the bogo free floats. She said yes, with a purchase of a meal but said they would make an exception for us, which we thanked her for and made sure it was okay. We ordered our 2 floats and while we were waiting a bus boy dropped a cleaning rag ON THE FLOOR and then proceeded to pick it up and clean off a table with the same rag!!! Might I add the table was still dirty and covered in food when he finished "cleaning" it with the contaminated rag. Then he went to clean another table and jokingly yelled an F-bomb where several customers could hear, and ANOTHER employee came over and yelled a second F-bomb just as loud. My family was astonished and absolutely disgusted. We almost left, but since they honored the bogo we decided to stay. Not only was it obvious that the staff did not care about the cleanliness of the restaurant, but they also had no self awareness or respect towards their customers. While we were grateful for the bogo free floats, the sign doesn't mention needing to purchase anything to redeem the offer. Great food. Great atmosphere. Sometimes I think they just make the shakes messy because they can. They don't need to be.

Inclusive and amazing! I have a high energy 3 year old and a special needs 5 year old- the staff has always been extremely kid to my family, the outside seating area is usually empty and that allowed my toddler to get his wiggles out. Such a neat and special addition to the area - we loved going to Fitz's in the city but it's a bit of a ways away. It's nice to get a fun and unique spot in the county :) Same delicious food and drinks! A few gripes: -it's hard to find! They don't have a sign directly on the building (yet, I hope). -While the food and company is special, I was disappointed they didn't do more in this location. I had high hopes to see some of the bottling or arcade, like the city location. Just a pretty open (albeit nice and updated) space. A few enclosed party rooms on the side. Took the grandkids on a Thursday. We got there about 11:45 and wasn't very busy, but picked up quickly after noon. Kids enjoyed seeing the bottling process and were surprised when one of the staff popped open a window and handed them a bottle tight off the line. I had the brisket platter, very good and huge! Generous serving of fries too. Wife had Mediterranean salad, liked it but too much dressing. Loads of olives, avocado, etc. she couldn't finish hers either. I came here with family to celebrate some birthdays in their new location. We were sat in the back room which was nice so our toddler wasn't too disruptive. I wanted something light to eat since it was mid afternoon and had a hard time finding something in their menu which is burger heavy. I ended up ordering a cup of chili which was pretty average and didn't have any crackers on the side which it could have used. I also ordered the green monster float which of course is why you go to Fitz's. It was delicious but floats are a pretty simple item. This is a fun place to take people who are impressed by big floats but I definitely don't come here for impressive food. read more

Food is great and portion sizes are HUGE. The prices are a little on the high side but this is more of a touristy place so that is expected. I still prefer the central west end location just for nostalgia reasons but this place was not nearly as busy the last time I was there. read more

Fits is our favorite root beer hands down. As someone who grew up in St. Louis and comes to visit family - we buy it by the case and bring it back home to Maryland. It's that good. Wish they shipped cheaper! We took our kids this trip for... root beer floats and toasted raviolis. So incredible. I had no idea each one was 4 scoops of ice cream and a bunch of toppings -- holy cow!! If you only saw the kids faces when they came out! We sat outside... dog friendly!! read more

Visited a little after lunch time. The place was pretty much empty, with only three other tables occupied. That being said I felt like we could've been tended to a littttle bit better, even though the service wasn't bad! Our waiter was super friendly, however I never received an offer to refill my drink. The beer had minimal to no head which was kind of sad. The food was just okay--nothing to brag about. Your typical Ruby Tuesdays vibe from the food, but pricier. We stopped to eat at both St. Louis locations while on spring break with our 17yr old. Great food and friendly staff. Waldorf and Fiesta salads were excellent. Buffalo chicken sandwich also delicious. Would have purchased some Kaldi's Coffee-cola but both locations were out and I see their website confirms zero stock. Their cream soda is top-notch. I have gone on several occasions to give it another try, but this place is not for me. Food is "ok", not great. Service was "ok", not great. The kids mac n cheese looks like Kraft. The patty melt's burger was way to small for the slice of bread, the Buffalo chicken wrap has a little heat but no real flavor, and the fries were soft and chewy. Only redeeming part of the meal was the pretzel sticks and cheese sauce. The service was ok. It wasn't terribly packed, but it took a while for our server to come back to fill up my bottomless root beer, never getting extra napkins for the train wreck of a mess the floats are, and just lack of attentiveness. Now to the floats. Great concept on different flavors, good root beer, and good quality ice cream. But all of that not a great float makes. The execution of it is impractical, and not really sure if that's what they're going for, but is not my jam. It's made for two to three people, but it's construction makes it messy and a waste. Their coffee cola is my favorite! Local collaboration. They use Red 40 petroleum based dye for no reason in cardinal cream and black cherry. Otherwise they care to source good ingredients. Will be back for the root beer and coffee cola! read more

Most of the experience was okay. Waitress was slow on refills. It's like she would only bring the refills if we specifically asked which was annoying because there would be longer periods where we didn't see her. Biggest complaint: I used some salt on my onion rings and sandwich. I didn't even get halfway through my sandwich when I looked and noticed something black on the salt container. IT WAS A BUG. We politely told the waitress about it and she had that demeanor of "Not again...". No apology. Nothing. At the end, she brought boxes and I mentioned I didn't need one since I had put salt on everything. Still nothing. I didn't want to be rude because it wasn't her fault. I have loved going to fitz since i was little. it is always so much fun to watch the soda get made while waiting for your food. I love all of the options and how quick it is.
