Discrimination and Poor Customer Service are NEVER Acceptable! Based on reviews, initially, I was excited to workout at the Brea location. When I arrived, I was impressed with the facility. While working out, I decided that I would add the location to my list of gyms to workout at. I am a lifetime, premium member. I tend to vary my gym locations. I arrived at the gym at about 4:45 am. I spent just over two hours working out. All went extremely well. Again, I had been pleased with the location and the facility. That is, until I was bombarded by an unidentifiable, heavy-set Fitness 19 employee. My contact with him soured my ENTIRE visit. And he was unapologetic about it. In fact, he delighted in his disrespect, poor customer service, and antagonistic behavior. When I arrived at the gym, I scanned my key card, it beeped, and I went to workout. Two hours later, I decided that I wanted a hydro massage. I approached the employee to ask it there were any sani-wipes, so that I could wipe off the pad on the massager. Before I could ask my question, he asked me if I had signed in. I responded that I had. He then asked my name, which I gave him, but I thought it was odd that he asked, especially since I had been there for two hours, and he had approached no one else. He found a some Clorox wipes. I took one and headed for the massager. The employee set my massage timer for 10 minutes. The lady next to me had been on her massage table for over 45 minutes. Rather than address the time issue with the employee, who had been already been a jerk to me, I decided that I would contact the general manager and/or the owner of the club to discuss the issue. As I was leaving, I asked the unidentified employee for his name. He replied "JJ." He then told me that he could could not find me in system. So, he asked for name again, which I gave him. Then he asked for my phone number. He stated that he could not find my name. He find another person with the last name and phone number, but that person's membership was expired. I responded that that was my husband and that he and I are both lifetime members. He again stated that I was not in the system and that my husband's membership expired three years ago. JJ asked where I had enrolled. I told him. He then informed me that he was going to call the location. He made an attempt to call, but stated that he couldn't make the call on the business phone, so he made the call on his cell phone. I commented that it was ridiculous for him to harass me on my way out, two hours later. But I obliged him and also wanted to get the issue resolved. When I told him that because of him, I had no plans to return to the Brea facility. He replied "perfect!" He finally reached m6 primary club on his cell phone, verified my lifetime membership as current, but told me that the Brea facility is excluded and told me to call Justin at the club that I signed up with. I just walked out. JJ was rude, unprofessional, hostile, bombarding, antagonizing, lacked good judgment, and in my opinion, discriminated against me because of my race. I was the only person of color in the facility and the only person he approached and harassed. I will file formal complaints with the appropriate regulatory agencies. But for JJ's behavior and conduct, my review would have been different. Discrimination and bad conduct are NEVER acceptable and should not be tolerated. After I posted my review, I exchanged messages with Lily. She told me that the treatment I received was not representative of the club. She told me to speak with Reid to resolve. Reid and I played phone tag a couple of times, but never connected. He didn't bother to call me back after I left several messages. After leaving my final message, I spoke with someone from corporate. She took down my information, was stunned at the blatant discriminatory treatment that I received and promised to make it right. She said that she was going to have a higher up call me. Five months later, no call. Now I am considering filing a lawsuit before the statue of limitations runs out! Shameful! read more

This fitness center is NOT over-the-top, aggressive, and unkept, unlike the stereotype associated with SoCal fitness centers. This gym is very welcoming and is certainly polar opposite from being unsatisfactory. LOCATION/BUILDING/EQUIPMENT: The interior of the gym is much larger than what it appears from the outside, which is a huge plus. The outside is subtle and welcoming; as opposed to being loud and intimidating. And once through the entrance, the sleek and organized atmosphere unfolds into 2.5-3 main rooms. The first room consists of the front desk, assisted weightlifting machines, tanning beds, hydromassage machines, separate lockerooms for males and females, and a child daycare. This may seem like a lot to be crammed into one area, but by F19's design, it flows effortlessly without seeming overcrowded. The second room is the main area, which consists of free weights, benches, squat racks, cable system, a red "jungle gym" system with various cable/rope/trampoline oblique throws sections, cardio machines galore, and much more. The third room consists of the classroom where the diverse array of classes are held, and it consists of my favorite part: the turf area. In this area, there are TRX bands, rollers, a sled, battle ropes, etc. Overall, the equipment is top-notch and new, so zero complaining in that aspect. Not only is the equipment new, but it's kept CLEAN, which is a huge necessity for my gym experience. The floors, the equipment, and the weights are all kept clean, which helps my mentality when entering the gym and getting started. However, the parking lot does get a little crowded during peak hours, but that's expected as memberships rise and parking lot expansion takes time. PERSONAL TRAINERS: Friendly. Knowledgeable. Charismatic. That's how I would describe these trainers. Tim, Hans, Danielle, Jimmy, etc. all are incredibly respectful and friendly individuals. They do NOT bully other members off machines and they are always open to questions. STAFF: Now this is one of the best aspects. The staff is welcoming and nice, in every essence of both words. Period. I do not think I have ever come across a more friendly and more involved morning worker than the front desk associate, JJ. He not only greets members and upholds all his duties, but he goes the extra mile and gets to know the members personally. This really helps establish the family-like community of this gym, which makes working out more of an excitement than a dread. Also, the younger staff, such as Ian and David, are very energetic and gracious, and although appear to look young, are incredibly knowledgeable with the fitness realm. So whenever in a kerfuffle with what workout to construct or how to utilize a machine efficiently, they can absolutely handle the issue. As for the management, with the loads of pressure and issues they are presented, they are incredibly resilient, consistently optimistic, and professionally respectful. Every now and then, they might accidentally make a mistake, but they immediately recognize the mistake and fix it in a respectful manner. Reid and Amy are a blessing. In the midst of raising two children (one of which is a newborn), both seem to find the energy and the time to come into the gym almost every single day to personally oversee and interact with their members. They could easily just stay at home and have someone else check in on the gym and run it with a corporate vibe, but they physically come to the gym themselves and input just as much time and energy (if not more) as the other staff. They build connections with their members, which is HARDLY experienced in a handful of above average gyms in the area. Personally, this is what sets this fitness center apart from the rest. Most gyms can purchase fancy equipment and brand new TVs, which this gym already has, but a small percentage of gyms (especially at this scale and this quality) can establish a personal connection with its members and construct a "family" community. I highly respect what Reid and Amy have re-birthed and advanced with this fitness center in Brea. read more

I've had a membership with a big box gym before/ during covid and I moved had to end my membership however I came back and reopened my membership with fitness 19! It's a little drive but worth it! The gym is really clean! It does not smell how most gym do. You know when you racking up the weights and you just want to throw up, nope not here! There's cleaning stations always a couple feet from you. And almost 80% people wipe down their equipment. TRUST ME ! When I tell you there's cleaning stations and people wipe down equipment ! Last gym you had to walk like a mile and no one cleans up after them self and it smelled awful... Child care! Is open right now! Aww Coco is so sweet makes me and my son feel comfortable. Always has a little convo with her she's sooo sweet! Gave my little man a water bottle since they can't use the drinking fountain. Staff is pretty chill, nice people ! Never had a bad vibe with the staff. From 4:30am or late morning gym sesh or evening work out staff is friendly! They have pretty good range of gym equipment it's not a bigol box gym but. I prefer it since not a lot of people tacking over the equipment so you'll have a smooth work out no hunting for equipment lol or waiting forever after you complete everything for your work out. And plus it's clean! No smelly gym! And staff will walk around the gym re-rack weights when people (if they do) leave a hot mess. read more

I've been a member for about a year now and meant to write a review right when I signed up. I NEVER ever write reviews but, I was SO impressed with the customer service that I received when I first went to check this facility out. After all this time has passed I still am in LOVE with everything about this gym and the staff and manager are amazing. JJ was the one to sign me up and he has honestly been the kindest and most reliable employee I've met at any gym (and I've been to/worked at a lot). I workout right when the gym opens and JJ has always there early which is appreciated. There have been a handful of incidences where whoever is supposed to work on Friday mornings is not there on time to open and JJ has always been clutch in a pinch and will rush over to open if that ever happens, even though it's his day off. I previously worked as a personal trainer for many years and can be pretty critical of where I spend my time exercising. The gym is always immaculate, employees are very friendly, they offer excellent amenities (athletic area, group training, tanning, aqua massage) and have very affordable pricing and deals. I would highly recommend the gym to anyone, although I do like it being empty-ish early in the mornings! read more

My wife and I signed up at this location before they even opened their doors for business. They had a Kiosk set up in the parking lot. We have been happy with our membership and usually get to the gym early in the morning. A young lady named Sam that works there typically greats us as we come through the door. She has always been very friendly, respectful and helpful to both me and my wife Monica. She is the only one of your employees that we see spending time cleaning the gym. The only complaint Monica and I have is the recent change in the music. They used to play classic rock in the early morning because the majority of the people are older. The younger generation prefer to sleep in I guess. Anyway, now the music sounds like rave music. Terrible workout music. Please bring back some music us mature adults can enjoy while we workout! I am so glad that Fitness 19 decides to open a location in Brea. I had been going to several other gyms over the years and always felt cheated or unsatisfied with the overall experience. Fitness 19 is the BEST gym I have ever been to! The prices are so reasonable for what you get, I would gladly pay double for the services I receive. The facility has everything that I use for functional training, cross fit, and high intensity interval training with a HUGE turn area, classes and weights galore. Also if you are into tanning, they some really high end beds that I was really surprised to see! All of the employees that I have met are very friendly and helpful with whatever I need. They even have childcare and classes if you like those types of things. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you live anywhere in the area! read more
