I took a free first time class here last week. I usually frequent YogaSix but thought I'd try something new. Everything in the studio just felt dingy and dirty. The instructor was nice and upbeat. Gave MANY hands on corrections which was appreciated but a bit uncomfortable at times. I did not know she would be touching places such as my chest and butt. Usually in my yoga classes we are asked if we are comfortable being touched and given corrections. However that was not communicated at this studio and the hands on nature was immediate and a bit uncomfortable for someone who was not prepared for it. Especially in more private areas such as the butt. Class was great- very hard and may be tough for beginners. Overall I do not think I will return given the price and the atmosphere. read more

I came in for a workout, arrived at 9:50 for the 9:45 class. Was not let in because "I missed the warmup", but I HEARD THE CLASS INSIDE SAYING THAT THEY WERE STARTING THE WARMUP. Disappointing because this was supposed to be my first class. Safe to say I won't be back! I drove 30 minutes to get here and the front desk lady who was there 8/21 was incredibly rude about it. On Thursday for 730 class, I reserved last min on ClassPass because i had spare time in the morning before my classes, so i was rushing there and arrived 2 mins before. The lady at the front desk said she didn't know how to use the computer and just told me i could sign after the class , which I should've arrived earlier but I did book like 10 mins before (didn't know there was papers to sign). Okay, and then I'm taking off my shoes and she tells me if I have grip socks, I say no. The only reason I didn't have them was because on ClassPass it says please wear socks , grip socks RECCOMENDED. Okay so which one is it. Now I'm charged a fee for not going because I didn't want to buy their overpriced grip socks, I have enough at home. The worst fitness place I've ever been to. It's dark and dusty, and if you are late by 2.5 minutes, they don't let you in, although it depends on who you are and how you look--some people are allowed to be late, while others are not. They say it is a policy, however no one ever mentioned it. You have to pay a $20 fee. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I joined back in September with a 3 month commitment to forget about a boy haha. It was time to focus on myself. I normally hate to exercise but I fell in love with pure barre brea and Anaheim hills. One month into pure barre I decided to commit to one year unlimited. The instructors are kind and friendly. Shoutout to Geri, Sara, and Kellie who are so awesome about making corrections and helping me fix my form. I feel like I have gained muscle mass, my posture is better. I can actually do a sit-up and push-up now, I couldn't before. When I hit my 100 class management celebrated my achievement which I thought is really cute. I don't usually like group classes but I decided to give it a try, since my niece told me about it. the first time going in the class I was not familiar with anything but the teacher was super nice and helpful. The second class I went the instructor was not very patient with me, I'm not that young and flexible like the other girls there, so of course I'm not going to be able to do the forms good and when I tried to do what the first class instructor told me the time before using a ball on my lower back that way i didn't hurt myself, this new teacher was like NO. don't use the ball. This is the way you get stronger even when I told her I was new in the class and my back was hurting She really did not care. I went in a few more times making sure that teacher wasn't teaching the class. But still, that's not my favorite workout. Now I'm stuck with a 3 month contract, i should have just get a few classes before signing a contract. That's my fault though. I have not been going to classes anymore. Some of the instructor are nice and good helping a couple of them are not. read more

The energy is healthy, positive and contagious. I've never felt so comfortable in a pair of leggings, there just is no judgment. Yes, the workout is hard. The classes are effective, and the instructors are wonderful, however, the business model is terrible. If you decide to try the studio out, do NOT buy a membership! When you purchase a membership you have a limited time to use your credits and if you don't use them by the allotted time you lose them. (Even though you already paid for the classes) This is a terrible way to do business! If you pay for a product, you pay for a product. They should not expire. I started pure barre one month ago (I was 3 month postpartum then). Due to a rough pregnancy, I was not able to work out at all during my pregnancy so I was really out of shape. The first several classes were really difficult, but I was immediately hooked!! It was exactly what I needed--- strengthening core, abs, arms, legs, and seat!!! Since the movements are low-impact, it is perfect for new moms whose bodies are still healing and recovering. The classes are still challenging, but I can definitely tell that I am getting stronger. I still have a long journey ahead of me to get back into my pre-baby shape, but I am so glad I chose pure barre to do it. All the instructors/staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming. They make sure to fix your forms. Every instructor/class has different styles so the classes are never the same, never boring. As I prepare to go back to work, I do wish there were later class times. Three words - I am hooked! After moving away from my beloved Yogaworks in LA a couple years ago, I had absolutely no luck finding just the right studio for me... until I found Pure Barre! I started off with 10 Groupon classes, thinking I probably won't even use them all. Lo and behold, I'm on class #7 and counting in less than 2 weeks! All classes are about an hour long with an instructor who demonstrates different movements and also corrects you if needed. A lot of "seat" work, legs and arms. There's upbeat music in the background loud enough to blanket occasional groans and moans but not too loud that it's painful. There are also two walls with mirrors so you can see yourself (shake) throughout. I recommend everyone to give it a try! It will work you out like no other, but you'll want to come back again and again because you will feel stronger and tighter each and every time. They also seem to have a lot of monthly or seasonal challenges to help you get motivated. read more

I purchased a two week membership to try Pure Barre and see what it's about. I opted for Pure Barre because I have been away from exercise for one year due to having had surgery and not having been able to return to my previous exercise regimen, cross fit/kick boxing type of exercise, due to the high impact movements and heavy weights. Now that my body feels ready to begin moving again, I walked into daily classes this week with all I've got to get back into fitness. Pure Barre provides a very different experience than what I was used to. It is perfect for what I need and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. It's challenging and I love a challenge. There are members that appear to have been dancers/ballerinas from youth but there are also other members that are giving it a try like me and benefiting. The movements are very small and controlled (not jarring). It brings out the inner ballerina in you and all the instructors have been helpful in pointing out form and are all around pleasant and inspiring with their bodies! You do have to reserve your class time beforehand but this makes it so it's not over crowded which I appreciate. The studio is clean. There is ample parking. The staff and members all courteous. I'd say it's deceptively challenging but in a very good way and it makes you want to bring your inner graceful warrior self into the studio. I've attended two sessions daily for the first week and I have noticed that my form is improving and my energy rising. I'm very happy I decided to try Pure Barre. I hope to continue until I look more like a ballerina (haha) and until I can get closer to mastering some of the moves. Thank you to Michelle, the owner, and all the ladies (instructors/staff) for providing a great studio introductory experience. By the way, I waited to complete 5 regular classes before trying the Empower class with Angela Gramer and I'm so pleased that I did. The music was great along with the routine. I felt that every move was counting towards improving my fitness and body. I was red and sweating but enjoyed the quicker, more upbeat pace. Lastly, a two-week membership is a great way to try out the studio for not a big monetary investment. I wasn't sure if I could see myself attending long term on days 1 and 2 but now that I'm on day 5, I'm thinking I'll like to try out another month at the end of my two weeks to see how much weight and inches I can lose and to see if I feel an overall improvement in my fitness level. I have been going to the Anaheim Hills studios but I recently attended a class at Brea. It was a class with one of the co-owners and it was challenging/expertly taught. This studio is located in a large shopping center with lots of parking and the place itself is cute. Pure Barre focuses on tiny movements where you literally exhaust a muscle then stretch it out to change it's shape to long and lean.  It sounds hokey but it's crazy how hard it is and it totally works.  The classes focus on the same muscle groups (core, arms, seat, legs etc) but in different ways and at different times; no class is ever the same.  The structure of the class though, is the same, so you get used to what to expect. Some tips for newbies, although if you're new, the instructors are very good about walking you in and setting expectations: 1) Come early and when you walk in, take note of the equipment at the front of the room.  That's what you'll be using in class (usually one type of band & a ball).  Go get those and also a pair of weights (I suggest 2 lbs if you're new) or get 2 pairs if you want to switch from a light to heavy weight while doing arms. 2) Sit down with your equipment and stretch.  While you stretch during class it's pretty quick so a little extra doesn't hurt. 3) When the instructor puts their headset on, stand up.  You'll be starting your warm-up. 4) Bring a towel with you and water if you're a water-drinker during exercise.  You'll be surprised how much you can sweat. 5) The "Tuck": Expect to "tuck" through out class which is a tiny movement that involves contracting the abs backwards causing the hips to rotate forward to elongate your spine. I'm doing a 1 month special now where I received a free week because I purchased it during Open House and I can earn another free week if I attend 10 classes (easy peasy as I'm already at 8). I'm loving it and this location is a great option for me since sometimes the Anaheim Hills classes are getting totally full! I'll be back! read more

I've been coming now for 3 months and I have no plans to stop. It's a great workout that works your whole body. It works muscles I didn't even know I had! It does take time to get used to the terms, but trust me even if it looks like you are not doing much.. you feel the burn and see the results! I am so impressed with pure barre! I have been going everyday for exactly a week now. The workouts are sooo amazing! I always break a sweat, and they never get boring. Going in, you wouldn't expect the workouts to be all that difficult but you will definitely feel the burn in every part of your body, but it's not impossible. I honestly already feel stronger and will definitely be continuing my membership after my starter month is over. I have been to 5 classes so far and I am HOOKED. The studio is always super clean and the front desk employees are extremely friendly and helpful. The teachers are amazing. The classes are never the same and always exciting. They really pay attention to the class and are not afraid to jump right in and correct your form. Every class has been different so far! The music playlist is always perfect too. Never been to any type of Barre class and I have zero dance background. The exercises don't look difficult but are extremely challenging. Small little movements that really target individual muscle groups. Expect your muscles to be shaking throughout the entire workout. I leave class feeling accomplished. I typically hate working out but Pure Barre has been an exception for me. I really look forward to each class which makes me feel like this is something that I will finally be able to stick with. Amazing studio! When I first started taking barre classes I found it somewhat intimidating because many of the movements and exercises were new to me, but with each class its become less intimidating. The studio offers three different classes- pure barre, pure reform, and pure empower, all which compliment each other. I've tried all the classes and they are challenging but fun. The music selection is great and the instructors are fabulous! I always appreciate how encouraging, helpful, and positive the instructors are throughout the whole class even towards the very end of class when you want to give up. I purchased the Groupon for 10 classes to try to tone up for my wedding. I had about 6 weeks but took 9 out of the 10 classes in the last 4 weeks. They also have a bride to be special of 3 months for $375 which to me seemed like a lot at first so I didn't get it but now I wish I had. I'll start off saying that I do not like working out. I've had multiple annual memberships to 24 hour fitness and yoga studios. I currently even have unused classes I purchased from Purple Yoga. I'll make every excuse I can to not work out. I would tell my husband I can't work out because I just washed my hair. My memberships became a waste of money. Although it may cost more than a gym membership it's worth it to me because I actually come and have fun. I put the class on my calendar and do everything I can to finish up work so I can make it on time. They start class pretty much on the dot and a lot of people come early so try not to be late! The instructors and the girls at the front are amazing. They're super nice and very welcoming. I've been to about 15-20 classes with 5 or so different instructors and they're all great. They are encouraging and help correct your form so you really feel the workout. Each class is difficult but is so rewarding once you're done. The best part is seeing the results. On my wedding I could see my back and shoulders were more toned and my tummy was flatter. I finished up the classes right before my wedding and loved it so much that I purchased another month that I was able to start when I returned from my honeymoon. Even if you don't like working out give this studio a try and you may change your mind like I did. Side note: They do have a small retail section right when you walk in with some super cute clothes. LOVING pure Barre Brea! I was a dancer so this workout is right up my alley! The best part is that I don't feel like I'm working myself to the ground on my workout but the next day I FEEL it!
