So my roleplay group rented this space last night for 8-10pm so we could do a fun class + demo, and…read moreit was phenomenal! I was really impressed by the facilities and layout of the place-- much larger on the inside than it looked on the outside. There was the large dance area with mirrored wall, plenty of folding chairs we could use, a large lobby with places to sit and wait for the previous class to finish up, even a quiet booth on the far side, and a little nook with a fridge and microwave. The fun-colored neon lighting was a nice visual touch, coupled with the ability to play music on the sound system really set the mood! The owner was very helpful about making us feel welcome, getting us set up, and letting us know where everything was and how to use the facilities. The only two things that could have been better were the cramped parking lot with limited spaces, and the single occupant bathroom. It was a really nice bathroom, but there was only the one so it caused a wait to use it. Would definitely rent this space again!!

I'm not offered to take the class. The girl at the desk says check your email. I check my email, and it says you have to link your account. So why does the website have you select a class, lead you to believe you're paying for it, and show you enrolled? Maddening. I was always so interested in taking a class but always thought the website was absurd. I now have to make sure money isn't taken out of my account, and I don't show as a no- show for a class I wasn't welcomed to join. I was so looking forward to a great dance experience. What a disappointment.

Now with the studio's name of "Vespertine", this studio is truly a home away from home. It's very…read morewell taken care of, the classes and instructors are a JOY to be around, and the parking is easy with two lots being a dirt lot right next to the studio as well as street parking in front of the houses on the street. Now mind you, this ain't ya' mama's pole and dance studio! It is so much more. If you want to feel the technical *perfection* of being a pole ballerina, this may not be the place (however Pole Virgins and Pole Harlots with Ruby will give you some really good technical tips). However, in my opinion, this space IS the best place to start your pole/sensual dance journey. You can always learn technicality, but here is where you can learn to love how you move... HOWEVER you move. It is where you can unleash what you were taught to hold inside, and where you can free your emotions- all of them within a safe space and a safe community. From freestyle classes, slow and sensual teachings, and member events, this is the place to fall back in love with yourself- and you deserve that. PS, Minx+Muse is still its own entity and is hosting a fully online membership that you can check that out as well (:

However, I never actually thought about taking dance lessons there. For reference, I been trained in Latin dances, hip hop and two-step. Well, I have not done partner dances in over a decade, I currently take masterclasses, when my schedule allows. Go Dance is right next door to Chaparral Ice on Anderson Lane. It is quite a large facility with two main dance floors along with studio and private dance rooms. Go dance also sell dancewear and dance shoes. Their current dance special is one student for 4 weeks of unlimited Level 2 or Level 3 classes and three private lessons with an instructor for $220 or for two people at $295.

Going to three classes a week is a lot, but I've enjoyed them immensely. This is getting me back out on the Dance Floor without having to go to a nightclub, and I'm learning so much! The instructors I've had are excellent, and the facility is nice and clean with beautiful hardwood floors. Other students have been very welcoming and friendly as well. If you like dancing but want to learn more and dance more, check out Go Dance!

Veronica was a gift from the…read moreuniverse, she was able to do more for me in one hour than I've gotten from years of personal efforts. Veronica ended up being one of the best pole instructors I've ever experienced. She was so fast to connect to me and my goals and understood instantly my ability and previous experience on the pole and in dance. She then was able to teach the techniques she laid out for me in a way she knew I needed to learn them, and installed the exact concepts and methods she knew I needed for were I wanted to go. Unlike many other experiences with classes and studios, this experience left me feeling like I just walked out with a super charged download of pole skills versus the usual feeling of wasted time and little progress I've felt with other trainings. The studio itself is set up so perfectly too. The whole design and layout of the dance room is really interesting bc it's so warm inviting and elegant yet intimate and professional at the same time. Every little detail of the whole studio is done to perfection. It's hard to say something new about a studio that literally has so many five star reviews to its name, but honestly I would just say that for anyone who wants the hands down best pole dance training of their life needs to set this studio and the incredible Veronica as a priority number one to come and experience for yourself.

The room itself is simple but does the job for classes or practice. What I don't love is that there isn't really a consistent front desk presence. I'm a musician - professional clarinetist - and the rhythmic idea of tap has always appealed to me…read more I was highly active in marching band in high school and have been a marching band music judge for over 17 years including last year's national championship. I started taking tap on a whim about a year ago, and work forced me to switch studios to the weekends, and ended up on Acia's doorstep...a tall, gangly, goofy older guy seriously having trouble balancing on one foot! I studied clarinet at one of the top music schools in the world - Eastman - and was a student of one of the clarinet world legends. Attending Acia's class, I immediately felt in the presence of a legend - greatness, and here I was in a beginning tap class taught by a master: I immediately was compelled to want to address her as "Maestra" as I did when I performed under Leonard Bernstein or Seiji Ozawa. But what struck me the most was that it wasn't just dance: she approaches tap as a "musical instrument" which completely resonates with me, even though I struggle. She talks musician language: pickups, triplets, 16ths, syncopation, and more than that: everything that she demonstrates or has us do is a form of musical notation - I could automatically mentally transcribe everything of hers into sheet music and it ALL makes metric sense. Watching Acia's performance videos also resonate with me as an artist. She is very lyrical and expressive, and I am soooo grateful for the privilege of being in her classes. I hope someday my body starts to catch up with my musical mind! When I was an Eastman student, my clarinet mentor Stanley Hasty used to make us drag our sorry you-know-whats out of bed and attend his reed class on Saturday mornings at 9am. The irony isn't lost on me. Now I attend Acia's tap class on Saturday mornings at 9am, and I am ALWAYS so glad that I went, even though I am covered with sweat by the end - it is a "vigorous" class! Thank you, Acia Gray, for sharing what you do with all of us, and for teaching me a new musical instrument!
