CorePower Yoga - Triangle - Great class :) - Yoga Near Me - Austin, Texas

Parking is a challenge, no front desk person so instructors lock the door and go to class. People attending the class are unfriendly and just won't budge from their mat to make room for others - not the yogi choice to be unwelcoming. I took 2 classes - one was good and one was okay. Instructor just kept saying exhale and didn't provide clear call-outs. I was new and couldn't figure out where the equipment was - instructor paid no attention though I raised my hand. Some people in the class do their own flow/routine - which got very confusing because the instructor was walking around not demonstrating and you didn't know whom to observe and follow. read more

The class was great and the instructor was great also. However there is a major mold problem at this location. The entire building smells like mold when you walk in. Especially given that this is a yoga studio where people are working out and taking deep breaths this is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for anyone's health that is attending these classes. I'm concerned to continue going to this location. Additionally the bathrooms have scum and mold all over the linings and the smell is the worst in the bathrooms. Core power yoga offers many levels of heated yoga. The first week is free so definitely this business is worth a trial period. The instructor was experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. The core yoga 2 class is a good vinyasa flow. The locker room is well appointed. The only drawback is the lack of unheated classes. The heat soaked me is sweat such that crow pose and inversions were not possible because I was so slippery. read more

If you're thinking about trying this class, do it! My boyfriend and I just did our very first (ever) yoga class, we had no idea what to expect. We had Lydia as our instructor and she was super motivating! We signed up for the yoga sculpt and we both lift heavy but don't do much cardio,.this was hard as hell in the best way possible. Only "cons" I'd point out: 1) the website (I think) didn't mention that they're all hot yoga except for C1. So we didn't know it was hot yoga until we walked in. Maybe I missed it. 2) it says it's for all levels but the entire class they just assume you know all the names for positions so she's screaming out "warriors mountain pose etc. so you just gotta be in the back and look at someone else! We truly loved it though!! read more

I've only been twice, but you can feel the sense of community oozing from this studio the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out the door...and you don't get that at every CP. The shower/changing room is a little tight, as are the classes I've taken (but, at prime time, so understandable). read more

Went to a sculpt class and it such an great workout. No joke, you'll feel sweat dripping into your eyes and feel like you stepped out of a shower afterwards. I probably would not recommend the class to anyone who has not worked out in a while. The class is a combination of HIIT, hot yoga, and pilates with weights. The instructor is super motivational and I really enjoyed it! Would definitely go again, my only tip is to hydrate!! The entrance is really cute and they have a lot of really cute clothes and then they also have a locker room that is really nice with showers. ive been a member for almost two years and never tire of going here. releases all my stress and anxiety while giving an amazing workout (you will sweat like no other) and connecting mind body and spirit. I go a minimum of r twice a week, but wish I could go every day. they are open every day at any time of day. at first I was not thrilled with the fact that it's a franchise, but The fact that I can go in any city makes the franchise a plus factor as we travel a fair amount. read more

I had never been much into yoga before; the sessions I had experienced were generally not challenging enough for my taste. I decided to give CorePower a shot because I had the opportunity to take a class for free through my apartment complex. And I have to say.. I enjoyed it! C1 was a good introduction for me since I'm not really familiar with all the poses. The instructor was really friendly and helpful, and I like that they incorporate some core work. I'm now trying my free week of classes and have taken the C2 class a couple of times. It is WARM up in there and I have come out completely drenched in sweat. I'm also happy to report that I experienced some sore hammies the next day (and it's a good soreness - not debilitating). Again, I've found that the instructors so far have great energy and are really friendly. Considering my positive experiences so far, I'm now a believer and plan to sign up for their membership after my week is done! read more

Though a tad pricey, they really kick your ass. Particularly in Yoga Sculpt. As a dabbler in CorePower for a few years now, I decided to really take the plunge and get the lowest possible membership fee and see where that takes me. So far, so good. I have to be realistic and know myself enough to realize I am not going to get to yoga every day. A combo of laziness but also as a working mom makes it not so easy, however, the option is there for those harder-working mommas that get their asses up at the crack of dawn to get their sweat on. Plus, the staff is always incredibly welcoming and kind. They're tough in the workouts but seem to care about challenging their students to point of positive change. As a result, I make it there about 8 times a week and if anything - I walk out feeling better not only about physical self but my mental state, as well. A confidence booster indeed. I also like each class, whether it's Yoga 2 (Vinyasa style) or Yoga Sculpt (Essentially a non-stop crazy work-out in major heat), each class varies a lot. I will admit...sometimes in Yoga Sculpt, I do wonder why I put myself in this situation but then realize it's only an hour of my life, and I am sweating at least 10% of the ice cream I ate the night before. Corepower is always awesome, this location is no exception! Great facility, great instructor! I was humbled by the class, super attractive crowd with some super skilled yogis. Location is great... easy to find, easy to park, awesome food options in the plaza. Stopped by while passing through Austin for a weekend, took a C2 class with Brendan, liked it more than most C1/C2 classes I have taken in SF / LA, paced just right & doesn't sound cheesy when he motivates. Not 5 stars only because everything is a la carte aka $1 towel / $2 water / $2 mat (the norm). read more

My wife and I have been going to CorePower for many years in the different places we have lived and we really enjoy the consistency among studios. We always have an idea of the type of workout or practice we will get in during a CPY class. My wife, Paige, actually teaches Sculpt and C2 classes at this studio. The classes are AWESOME! Love how challenging yoga sculpt was, and the candlelight fusion was challenging but at the same time helped me feel focused. My husband took candlelight fusion as his very first yoga class ever! The instructors were awesome and helped him jump in. There are a few reasons I didn't give Corepower that coveted 5th star. Parking is not ideal at the downtown location as you might expect. Also Corepower charges you for towels. So if you want to wash your face after your yoga class, and you don't want to use the sweaty yoga towel you brought from home you have to pay (I think $3) to use a towel. Not a huge deal, but it is a little annoying. I also used the bathroom at the Domain location after a class to wash my face, and it smelled like there was a sewage issue with the plumbing. It could have been the time of day, or a temporary issue but it was unpleasant. These are minor things, but they are something to consider when comparing studios. Love the classes, locations are convenient, and the instructors are awesome. We will definitely be coming back to Corepower. read more

This is my fav yoga studio in Austin. In all fairness, I taught for Corepower Yoga in Colorado but for a long time I had refused to visit this studio when I would come home to Austin to be able to keep my work life and my yoga life separate. This was a HUGE mistake on my part. I was missing out for too long. -C1 is for beginners or someone who wants a non-heated, easier flow. C1s were created with the idea to give new yogis more in depth instruction to get them ready to flow so the classes are consistently the same..which is sort of a treat when you really want some grounding and similarity. -In general, most c2s are hot enough to have me dripping sweat before we get halfway. The studios have large humidifiers which encourages the sweat to pour. Yes please! C2 is a great addition (yin/yang) to anyone who runs or lifts weights. -Sculpt makes for a delicious morning wake up! Jamming out to some amazing music and pumping some (baby sized) iron while still rocking some flows. It'll make you sweat, get your endorphins flowing, and make you sore as all get out for the next day or so. -HPF is a mash up of C2 and Bikram style yoga. It's warmer than a typical C2. Holds some of the typical Bikram postures but also incorporates flowing and down dogs (no chatarungas though!) My fav sculpt teacher is Gillian. My favorite C2 teacher is Christina K. The classes are almost always spot on with the heat which I've had trouble with at other Austin studios. The locker rooms are spacious and the showers are always clean. To the person who rated CPY as two stars, no one should ever be allowed in late. As a teacher, it's distracting to the energy in the room. As a student, it disrupts my focus and relaxation. If you're walking into a studio late, that's actually very rude on your part. 5-6mins is already into the first Sun A so you are actually missing out if you come in late. Thanks for NOT letting people come into the studio late, CPY Austin. You make my practice so very enjoyable! read more

I've been doing yoga on and off for about 5 years. For the first time in 3 years, I've bought a 10-class pack directly from a studio (i.e. not through groupon/yelp/etc.) because I know I will go often enough to use it. Here's what's great about CorePower: --Physical focus. If you prefer to gently stretch and contemplate your inner Buddha, this probably isn't the place for you. There is no partner yoga, no sitting in a circle and sharing about your day, no divining the aura of the room, etc. (If this sounds strange to you, you're probably new to Austin.) While there is a mindfulness element to most classes, and while I am centered and relaxed when I leave, I love that I still get a bona fide workout. (To people who hate that yoga has been distorted by Western music and modern-day core work: you're right and I get it. But I also still prefer new age yoga and if my only choice were the traditional version, I wouldn't do it.) --Variety. They accommodate a wide range of preferences by having a full schedule with lots of instructors who teach in different styles. So: if you go to your first class and don't love it, don't be discouraged! I've been to about 15 classes now and can say that they really do vary quite a bit depending on the instructor and class style. For example, I thought I would love the weighted classes. Alas, I don't. At all. On the flip side, I thought I would be bored in the candlelight class, but now it's one of my favorites! (PS: Lots of people l-o-v-e the weighted classes. It's just too freakin' hot in there to be moving around anything more than my own body weight.) ---Scheduling--especially the 8:15/8:45 P.M. options. Why more places don't accommodate the after 8 crowd is a mystery to me. --Ability to use class passes at all locations. I live part-time in Dallas, so I love that I can use my classes at their 2 (soon to be 3!) locations there. --Student discount. This small gesture speaks volumes to us student folk. read more

I've been dropping in at various yoga studios around town for quite a while now. I started with Yoga Yoga and moved over to black swan, bikram, etc. from there. And you know what? None of them ever got me to where I needed to be to do a headstand. Yep, a freaking headstand. I never thought that would happen for me but it did at corepower and as I attend as regularly as possible I feel my core getting even stronger. Maybe one day I'll even be able to do a handstand. That would be pretty sweet but I'm in no hurry. That's another lesson you might get from yoga. Don't rush things. They happen when they are supposed to. Anyway - maybe it was just timing that I've experienced a lot of progress with the instructors at corepower but I don't think so. Their approach is a really nice balance of workout, peaceful meditation and mindful advice. I'm a big fan. In particular - I know I'll get different experiences from most of the instructors at the triangle. Andie is generally mellow and I appreciate her kind, go at your own pace approach. Kristen is typically philosophical and I love hearing her deep thoughts. Francesca seems to always be at the shop and I find her to be very kind and welcoming. And lastly, I'll admit I miss Timea's smiling face since she moved downtown. She was the first to really make me feel welcome and help me progress in my practice. If you've been bouncing around to various studios in Austin like I was, you might want to give Corepower a try. read more

WOW! I never expected to love CorePower as much as I do, but.....I do! The classes are all 1-hour long. You don't have to give up an hour 15 or an hour and a half to get your yoga on. The studio is spotless. They clean it like crazy. I see the cleaning girls running into the studio after class has ended, mopping every inch of the floor. The changing rooms and bathroom are spotless. I've only taken the Core 1 class and the Hot Power Fusion, but I like both of them. Sweat was running off me like a faucet. Hoping the pounds are also pouring off. In fact, I've been going almost 4 weeks now and I'm down 8 pounds!! The instructors are fabulous, nice girls who encourage you and push you to give it your best shot. They remember your name and are so friendly. My only gripe has to do with the Triangle and not CorePower--and that's the parking situation. I can usually snag a spot relatively close to the studio, but sometimes I'm driving around for 5-10 minutes trying to find a spot in a reasonably-lit area. read more

This is absolutely my favorite yoga studio in Austin. There are 3 reasons why: 1) The teachers are friendly, knowledgeable, and respect your personal space if you so desire. 2) The schedules are way more convenient than other studios, with lots of morning, evening, and late classes. 3) There are lots of variety of classes and pricing options, which you can't find elsewhere. The only downside is you can't be late, so make sure you're on time to class! I highly recommend this yoga studio. read more

I love the contemporary & modern interiors (albeit corporate) and that it is a brand new yoga studio is a nice bonus. The facilities are top of the line and the instructors are friendly and helpful with modifications of poses. I am relatively new to hot yoga but have been a fan of Vinyasa style classes and Hatha-Flow style classes for years. This is a more intense workout but overall a wonderful experience. I'm so glad I bought the Groupon so I can try it out for 1-month at a discounted rate. They also offer 1-week free to all new students. read more

Corepower is my absolute first choice for yoga in Austin. I've taken C2, yoga sculpt, and hot power fusion. All the classes are modifiable to be as hard as you want, and the instructors are professional and hands-on (which I really like). Front staff is always friendly, even if you come with classpass. The studios are clean, inviting, and challenging. The locker room also has enough lockers for everyone (but bring your own lock!) and never seems to be a wait for the showers. read more

I got the positive vibe just walking into the studio and all of the instructors were very friendly and as I went classes so often some instructors remembered my name. Not only I felt great about my body physically, I felt rejuvenated and gained confidence about myself since I joined Corepower yoga. After talking to someone about hot yoga, I decided I needed to give it a try. I'm a fitness junkie and thought I really ought to give it a shot! If you're new to hot yoga, you can't go wrong here with their first week of free unlimited classes. The studio is clean and very nice. The instructors meet you at the front desk and say hello, then you can go to the locker room that is seriously like a spa. Be prepared to get sweaty. Like pools f swear sweaty. Slipping on your mat sweaty. Just bring a towel for some friction on your yoga mat so you don't fall in downward dog Everyone was chill and the space was free from judgement. Really just wear what you want keeping in mind it's as hot as a tropical humid/desert heat day. read more

The positives: the instructors are good and the bathroom is clean and nice. Lots of showers and vanity space. The locker/changing area is cramped. However, the feel of the studio to me is very corporate. I bet if I walk into any Core Power, anywhere, the paint palette is the same. Also, while the instructors are good and will suggest advanced modifications on occasion, I think the classes are appropriate for beginners or intermediate level practiconers. I wish they offered longer classes at an advanced level. read more

This particular CorePower location is a bit cramped, but it still is just as nice as any of them. I appreciate the clean facilities and the luxury bathrooms. I used to practice at CorePower when I lived in Chicago and realized how great it is relative to the other studios I have been to in Austin. This studio may not have the nice large lounge lobby, and the locker room is a bit cramped... but the actual studios and the instruction and the practice are up to speed. That's what really matters. I like the ability to practice hot yoga without committing to an hour and a half class and getting in a good variety of classes. If you want your Bikram style class, they have that with Hot Power Fusion. There's also 2 levels of Vinyasa and a flow class that uses hand weights (Yoga Sculpt). I feel like it' provides me with a really great, well rounded workout. They have a lot of class times so it's pretty convenient. I would love to see some more classes a little later in the evening, and some 7am class times. It seems the classes are pretty full in the evenings so hopefully they'll be expanding! I plan to sign up for membership since I've definitely been going to more than three classes per week! Parking is a little tricky at the Triangle... but not impossible. Just allow a little extra time for that. It'd be nice if they would have picked a location a little easier to access and with a little more space but aside from that I'm happy to have this lovely studio so close to where I live and I'll be here often! read more

I checked out CPY at the Triangle for their 'free week' offer months back and enjoyed their classes so much I ended up buying their 'black card', or unlimited yoga program. They give a generous military discount, which is always much appreciated. The teachers are helpful and patient, and are always wanting to talk after class to see how your practice is going. I especially like how many classes there are to choose from throughout the day. I have a crazy schedule and the flexibility is awesome. I also love that I can go to any other CPY in the country with my black card- I have family in CA that I visit frequently and can still practice while I'm out there. I can also go to any of the 3 studios in Austin to work with my schedule! I highly recommend checking out CPY if you want a great place to practice and get an awesome sweaty workout! read more

They treat my mother like she were a thief even though it's their first time meeting my mother. I scheduled a yoga sculpt class tonight at 7:30 pm and I brought my mom to the studio because I don't want to leave her home alone. I told the teacher to have her wait in the lobby and my mom will sit on the sofa and wait for me. The teacher asked my mom to either wait outside or take a class in studio. My mother is not interested in Yoga. The class is one hour and it is chill outside and we just had dinner it doesn't make sense to send her to a restaurant. I ended up quit the class and drive my mother home. My main complaint is to find out why my mother can't sit on the sofa and wait an hour while I am taking the class. My white husband used to sit there and wait for me and everything was fine. Is there anything they particularly not like about my Asian mother. If you are not allowing people sitting on the sofa, what's the point of having a sofa in the studio? If you are so worried about people stealing stuff from the front desk, why don't you assign someone at front desk or simply install a camera? I am very disappointment! read more

I am a huge fan of this studio. It is clean and the teachers are really great. My favorite teacher at this location is Christine C., her sequences and music are great, I love her C2 class. She has a very calming voice, a great sense of humor, and really good music selection. Some teachers I'm less a fan of, but that's any studio. Try different classes and find the teachers that fit your style and needs. The bathrooms are always really clean with shower gel, shampoo, deodorant, etc. It is a great workout and I really like the focus on connecting your breath with the movement. Plus the teachers give lots of options for modifying as you build strength, so all levels welcome. read more

I purchased a 3 month unlimited membership when I was visiting Utah. Since then I have visited Core Power locations all over the United States and have enjoyed every class in every location. I called to cancel since there aren't any locations here in Houston and the corporate office was very cooperative in helping me. I hope they come to our area soon! read more

Alright. I didn't want to like this place. I didn't want to choose a corporate, multi national franchise, over my favorite Austin "hole in the wall" ultra localized businesses. But alas, nirvana has frozen over and Corepower Yoga has officially transformed me not only into a fan, but pass holder and 6AM class patron. In the spirit of transparency, I tried out CorePower yoga to simply take advantage of their Free Week of Yoga pass that they give to new students. Working in marketing, I see a lot of these deals pretty hapharzardly given out to hook students, and in my experience, it doesnt really work...but once again, I stand corrected. My first class at CorePower in Austin was with Khrispy (no spelling error there) at the Triangle location. Class was invigorating and challenging, combining the intense physical benefits of hot yoga with crunchy yoga attitude --- with just the right amount of crunch. Classes are typically an hour, which is great because you can get in and out in the morning before work, or get a great workout in before feeling so hot that you're going to pass out or so hungry that you wanna scream at someone. They also have classes that incorporate weight training and power fusion; you'll always leave classes feeling like you got a real workout rather than the nicely stretched out "i feel good but could go run a mile" feeling. Instructors value feedback and put heavy emphasis on each and every student's alignment and experience, providing adjustments to deepen practice regularly rather than "just a treat." Huge snaps got to Angel, Rachel, and Francesca for making my experience there so OHM-azing. Having tried out Wanderlust Downtown, which boasts a similar menu of yoga-classes (and about 12 other studios in the ATX area) I was expecting the modern franchise of a studio to be stuffy and lacking authenticity...I could not have been more wrong or happy that I was proven wrong. Alas, my favorite birthday gift this year was my 10 class pass to CP. read more

I can't believe how long it has taken me to write a review about this wonderful studio! I have been apart of Corepower for about a year..? (oh my goodness, has it been that long already?! dannng), and I can say, hands down, best studio in Austin! My favorite things about the studio are... clean bathrooms and studios!! A+. Awesome teachers Hot studios Great scheduling..like seriously.. Cute yoga clothes to buy! : ) I started yoga with attending donation based studio classes and online classes. I was really getting into yoga during the Summer of 2013..practicing almost everyday at home. One day, I decided I wanted to expand my knowledge..my goal for 2014 was to attend a yoga teacher training! the studio I usually went to did not offer teacher training yet, so I did some research... At the time, I was not getting paid much at all, so finding a fairly cheap training with payment plans was mandatory! This turned out to be pretty hard to find since alot of trainings were almost or about 3000! yikes! I was starting to loose hope until one of my roommates at the time also became interested in teacher training. She was a patron of the 6am sculpt classes, but at the time, I was skeptical - yoga with weights?! a corporate yoga studio?! is this yoga?! Yeah, I was silly back then. Next thing you know, I joined CorePower, obtained my 200hr teacher training cert., and I currently practice there 3 times a week! I live on Slaughter lane now, so it is harder to get to classes and practice there as much. But! it is definitely worth it! What I like the most about the studio..and what I am grateful for...is their YFT program! You clean the studio for 3hrs a week and you get a free membership! I have been doing it for about...8 months? definitely worth it if you still want to yoga it up and save money. Plus, I love cleaning! I highly recommend this studio! I know some can be hesitant about it being corporate, but I wouldn't worry about it ;) CP usually has free week passes where you can check out the classes for free..for a whole week! read more
