Went in for a class, I've never not gotten a parking spot in the garage but this one time I didn't end up with one. I asked the lady at the desk (Yael) if there was anywhere else I could park (this was at 10:30 the start time because I had never run into this parking issue before I am usually very punctual). She was very nice and told me to do street parking or park at Whole Foods (though it's a bit of a walk). She told us it would be okay if we were a bit late to class. We park at Whole Foods and we are then locked out of the studio. Yael reluctantly let us back in telling us to "not let it happen again" and that being this late was unacceptable. We then left the class completely since we didn't want to be in a space where we were obviously unwelcome. read more

Although I enjoy the classes at CP Monarch, it stresses me out attending classes here. Parking is atrocious. Even if you get there earlier and wait in the garage, sometimes spots still do not open. To me it is not worth paying for additional parking to go to class. This is not a cheap studio. It should try harder to accommodate clients. Buy more spots or get parking validations for your customers This studio does not work for me. CP Triangle is better. read more

Went to a class for the first time this morning and had the best time. If you're an early riser like me the 5:15 on Weds and Fridays with Nicole P. is amazing! She is so upbeat and fun and keeps you engaged the whole way through. The class is lightly heated and involves your standard poses with some light to medium weights added in plus cardio bc who doesn't love cardio? Aside from the main yoga sculpt classes there's a plethora of additional options for all levels. The studio itself is well managed, parking available in the garage directly behind the studio. Towels and mats are available for rent and they have water refill stations in the hall with mens and womens locker rooms - both of which were super clean and spacious! If you're looking for a yoga studio in the area I can't recommend this one enough! read more

Attended the Friday 8am class sponsored by JKL Foundation and it was one of the most excellent workouts I've experienced. Jess was the teacher and was smart and athletic and tough - but not so tough that I wanted to pass out - just enough to push me and make me feel like a million bucks. I'm a black tag member (don't get too excited...I pay for that illustrious title, it's not because I'm a yoga master) and I take full advantage of that, so I try to maximize my studio visits because I'm shelling out moola for the unlimited package. This is all to say, I've been around the block once or twice when it comes to CP studios. This one is my new home base and just like the one before it, the sheer amount of classes being offered from sunrise to waaaay after sunset is the best part about CP. I don't necessarily get the warm and fuzzies from any of the instructors or studio staff at this location (well, I get the warm because it's heated), but I enjoy the classes and the consistency of the classes. From CP1 to Hot Power Fusion to CP2 to YogaSculpt, you know exactly what you're going to get and each instructor adds their own twist so it's not stale. I appreciate the real estate devoted to the changing room so all our naked, sweaty bodies aren't on top of one another after class. read more

I was in town for the week and was looking to keep up with my practice. This CorePower location was a short drive away from where I was staying so I decided to give them a try. They offer a free week trial to all new clients, so I decided to take advantage of this offer. I went in on a Sunday evening for their Core 2 class, which is a slightly more advanced course. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was that it was HOT. I'm used to heated yoga, but this was about 10-15 degrees warmer than what I was accustomed to. Not a bad thing, but I had to restrain from going all out as I was starting to get light headed about half way through. So make sure you bring plenty of water!! I really enjoyed the session though - we got the chance to work on basic foundational poses as well as more advanced postures, including inversions and arm balances. The facilities here are big and very clean. They have mats and towels for rent (free for first time clients) and big bathrooms that include showers and lockers. Definitely would go back to CorePower next time I'm in town! read more

Dropped by here while traveling. They've got these upgraded mats that I don't really need a yoga towel for, which is great, considering I had to leave mine at home so I could travel light! My instructor (Monique) was fantastic, which a lovely personality, along with funny commentary and efficient yoga instructions. And live-singing some soprano, harmonizing with the music during the final bit. Room could have been a tad bit more warm but I still sweated like crazy. Bathrooms: Lockers and showers were good. A bit cramped. Need to bring a lock or borrow one from front desk. read more

Attended Jessi's class on Saturday at the CorePower 801 W 5th St location and it was absolutely incredible and amazing and exactly what my mind, body and spirit needed! Jessi is a phenomenally talented instructor and I absolutely loved her class and the studio was very pleasant as it was super clean, modern and spacious with plenty of free and available garage parking. I just tried to attend a Hot Power Fusion class here, where I showed up at 4:30pm on the dot to find the doors to be locked. The reason why I showed up so late was due to the construction and ultimately lack of parking available right outside this corepower location. You would think due to the high prices charged per class, the instructor would have the decency to wait at least 1 minute or come back out and check to see if anyone had arrived, due to the parking fiasco which is so far out of the customers control. Would recommend the Triangle location instead, terrible service here. read more

I was out here a few weeks ago and was looking for a place to practice. I like finding studios with deals for new students and this one offered a FREE week of unlimited yoga, so I decided to give it a try. Why pay for yoga if it can be free? I decided to take the hot power fusion class with Joel. I showed up 20 minutes early to the studio since it was my first time. Joel was very nice, but when he asked if I was an Austin resident, I couldn't lie. So instead of giving me a FREE week, he just comped my class. I guess they just don't want junkies like me milking them. Hahaha. Smart. But, I did promise him I would bring my Austin friend in to show her the studio (it didn't happen, I guess I don't live up to my promises). The studio is gorgeous and spacious. We just don't have space like this in NYC. The changing rooms so sleek, clean and tons of room. They have plenty of lockers, showers, toiletries, blow dryers for you to use. They also have plenty of yoga apparel and merchandise for sale here. And a sale was happening when I was there. Cool beans! The hot power fusion class is practiced in a heated room. The day I went, Joel decided to crank the humidity to 50%. Oh man. That killed me. The class is a miix of Bikram poses with Vinyasa flow. And damn, it kicked my ass, but in such a good way. I really got an amazing yoga session going here. And when it was all thru, Joel said to me, "Vivian, you can come play with us anytime." And that was just awesome for him to say. Mixed bag here. Feeling out various studios as there are a plenty before starting a membership to get back into a regular practice. Yet, I found the front staff at the central local much friendlier, sincere & especially Inviting... I felt Taylor & Jessica seemed aloof & the class was challenging enough yet the music was too loud, off putting & it was difficult to hear. I suppose I associate yoga with mind/balance/challenge & down tempo vs clubby personally. Perhaps it's just the CP culture. It was a good workout, yet I wondered about good form, gentle corrections & less forced hurried mantras. The words of kindness & the like seemed to sound right, yet they seemed more like just Words...(non-verbals)... ***Amendment: Meghan (Weds-CP2), Anna H (sub Thursday-HP) were the opposite of the above in class structure, challenge, method of correction, presence, music & wording. If they're able, they need to teach the busier evening classes... it's obvious their passion for yoga & the true yogi teacher spirit! Added star bc of them. Thank you! read more

Ashlyn M was the best instructor I've ever had. She made me feel inspired from the beginning of class and I loved her energy level throughout the entire hour. I've been going to CPY for two years now and Ashlyn's class was the strongest and best I've ever felt. Free yoga for the week!!!! Big buze word "free"!!! First time at core yoga and the first thing I noticed is the open space with bright colors. Chic decor with modern thoughtful touches. Water fountain, yoga gear on sale and great yoga teachers checking staff in. Which I liked. I was able to ask question about the class and meet the teachers before I got started. I came for the full 6pm C2 class in heated room. There are full mirrors all around with wall to wall ceiling windows behind me. It was a great mix of birkam and vinyasa yoga. Great combo for experienced yogi. After class my instructor Taylor complimented me on job well done and encouraged me to try other class offered. Loved the locker rooms so much space and good amenities. Will def be back next day to try yoga sculpt. read more

In town from DC where I go to CPY like 4x a week! I had some down time in Austin and decided to take a C2 class with Joel and I am so happy I made the space for it. His class had a lot of chest opening poses and for the emotional week I had, it was definitely something I needed. His energy was soothing and class was a positive challenge emotionally and physically. I would come back to Austin just to experience his class again. As for the studio's facilities, everything was clean which is a prob I find at most of the dc studios. read more

I've been wanting to try CorePower for quite a while, and I'm glad I finally did! I'm in the middle of my "free week," and I've been to two classes so far. Both classes I've gone to have been C1 beginner classes. I REALLY like that these classes are practiced in a warm room (~85 degrees), rather than a fully hot room (~95 degrees). It's a perfect, slow introduction to hot yoga. The C2 classes are hot, and have added humidity as well. Note that the C1 classes have set sequence of postures, no matter which instructor you have. I suspect that this would get boring pretty quickly, but I guess that's just more motivation to work hard and move up to C2! Both instructors I've had were very friendly and had great energy. The instructors here teach much differently here than anywhere else I've been. Rather than demostrating poses, they just tell you which pose you need to get into, and then go around the room making hands-on corrections. I was definitely expecting more demostration since this was a beginner class - it seemed like you were expected to already know Warrior 1, Warrior 2, Triangle, Tree, Chair, Up Dog, and a few others. Luckily I've dabbled in Hatha in the past, but if I hadn't I suspect I would have felt a bit lost during my first class. They have a parking garage, but I've been able to easily find street parking both times I've gone. The classrooms are gorgeous, as is the locker room. They have free lockers, and you can BYO lock if you wish. I'm considering purchasing a membership here when my free week is up. My only complaint is that the class offerings really don't have much variation. I'd love to see some restorative, Hatha, or other more relaxed styles for days when you aren't feeling up for a more challenging class. [EDIT: One of CorePower's awesome customer service folks contacted me and let me know about their Candelight Hot Power Fusion class. I have been doing yoga for over ten years. Corepower has some really awesome classes and teachers, but they also have some that aren't. It really depends on who you get and what class you get, which is inconsistency almost to the Black Swan level, albeit higher prices. I'm not a fan of Hot Power Fusion, which is a short form of bikram, and that class seems to be during the times I would take a "C2" class. I've had a particular rough time with one yoga teacher that likes to turn up the music way too loud (and it's not a yoga sculpt class) and then won't turn it down when asked. It was also maddening to ask the same teacher about parking at the downtown location. I was told it was an "urban situation" like any other big city (insert lecture about public transportation here). I just asked where the parking was... I was thinking about renewing my monthly membership, but after the incident with the questionable teacher I don't think I'm going to. I'd rather have a home practice or choose the teachers and classes I like there. All the regular teachers for the c2 and c3 classes are pretty good. It's too bad that there are one or two who are on auto pilot. The good thing is that they are super cool about getting sick, stopping membership, etc. That also makes me want to go back. So goodbye for now (after 5xs a week for 6 months). I'll see the good teachers soon! read more

The yoga there is fine, great. The only time I've ever been there, the class was packed to the gills to the point where I was under a shelf and couldn't rise to standing fully bc I might hit my head. Drop ins cost $30 which is ABSURD. Teachers there get paid $25 a class. Less than one attendees charge. Regardless of how many people attend. I will not support a business that treats their people that way. read more

I am a huge fan of this studio. It is clean and the teachers are really great. My favorite teacher at this location is Emily, her sequences and music are great, I love her C2 class. Some teachers I'm less a fan of, but that's any studio. Try different classes and find the teachers that fit your style and needs. The bathrooms are always really clean with shower gel, shampoo, deodorant, etc. It is a great workout and I really like the focus on connecting your breath with the movement. Plus the teachers give lots of options for modifying as you build strength, so all levels welcome. read more

Loved this place and the experience! Did the CP1 class. Lindsay was great, as well as her assistant going around the room giving adjustments. Also loved the upscale experience from A to Z. It was a goldilocks kind of experience- not too much, not too little, just right. I tend to enjoy more intense yoga experiences, and this was a good happy medium. Not so intense you can't wait to get out, but definitely gets the heart rate up and gets you working a sweat. Rooms are slightly heated, but still manageable temperature. Best part of the experience was the ambiance, and the customer service. If there's one thing I might put as feedback, it would be to tell participants before class once they enter the room to be quiet and mindful of the other students. There were 2 younger girls yapping away before class and it was a bit disruptive experience for me. Minor detailing an over all beautiful experience. Some background info to frame the review: I have been practicing Baptiste-style yoga for 3 years. I prefer a small, warm room (not bikram hot), a Baptiste styled flow, a high level of physicality and a good balance of spiritual awakening. After a year of basically dropping my practice entirely during the first year after I'd returned to live in Austin, I visited a Baptiste studio in Santa Barbara that reminded me what I had been missing. Upon return to Austin, I began to make a concerted effort to find my studio here. Several new ones had opened up that were opportunities for a "right" fit for me - studios I'd tried in the past couldn't come close to some of the studios I'd practiced at in Houston. Core Power was my first attempt - they had a great groupon and I opted to do my free week + month of groupon for a total of 5 weeks worth of classes for a ridiculously low price. This is the first big, corporate yoga studio I've been to. I was wowed by the enormous and clean locker room and practice rooms. I was not accustomed to practicing in front of mirrors. I'm still not a huge fan of the mirror, because it can cause a lot of distractions. And it reminds me that my thighs are still too big. ;) But it's also nice to be able to correct yourself if you see that your form isn't quite right, and give you the opportunity to appreciate the things you ARE doing right. The only other criticism I have of Core Power is that the flow in my Level 1 class has not varied much in it's postures. I've taken the Level 2 class also. Level 2 offers more poses, but moves too quickly for where I was at in strength & flexibility during my first month back. Now that I've built up my core & arms I think I'm ready to move to Level 2 consistently. Things I love about Core Power: my instructors, the other students, the heat of the room, the consistency, convenience of location, cleanliness of space, and class schedule - there are so many classes offered! I've really enjoyed Alaura's Thursday Level 1 class. I don't doubt that I will be back! I've also been to the Triangle location and have found all of the comments above to hold true there. If you're looking for a great workout with good leaders, I highly recommend this studio. read more

CorePower has their formula down and it's working! The Good: - FREE week of unlimited yoga classes for newbies. - A variety of classes from C1 (level 1 introduction to power yoga) to C3 and even a yoga with weights class (if that's your jam...) - The C1 flow is set so each C1 class will have the same sequence, wonderful for those new to yoga so they can learn foundational poses and see improvement. - Beautiful changing rooms with ample space, clean showers, all the amenities. - I love that CP has mid-day classes. So many studios only offer morning and evening class times and here you can get a 2pm or 4pm class which works really well for my schedule. The Not-So-Good: - Pricing is quite high and there's no yoga teacher discount which is unusual for Austin yoga studios. I'm not saying the cost isn't worth what you get, but it will be prohibitive for some. - Parking at the downtown location can be rough during peak class times. Their garage parking is fine for daytime classes, but busy class times means you're left to fend for yourself on the downtown streets of Austin. I also love their entrance space - cozy with couches, retail from some of my favorite yoga brands such as Alo and Beyond. If I had more money and more parking resources and if they offered package discounts to yoga instructors I'd probably start practicing here full-time. read more

The staff here aren't very friendly and don't leave you with that nice calm yoga feelings. They've been rude numerous times and always have a sour attitude. I am a beginner yogi. I used to go to black swan yoga and once they got bought out by Onnit the classes aren't the same. Needless to say, I needed a new yoga location. I have been searching for a while and this place is amazing. Their friendly staff greets you at the door and answers any questions you might have. They have a great offer for first time students and what I liked the most is I needed a bit refreshing on the sequencing, but I also did not want to feel like I was being watched and corrected constantly. They were perfect at this, really letting me guide my self but also ready to answer any questions. I really felt like their instructors care and are very passionate about their work. I found my self laughing at few times during the classes and really letting myself fully relax and absorb. Thank you for such beautiful classes, I will continue to come here. read more

Pretty much the same as all CP locations - same class types, same set-up, same amenities, etc. I've liked all of the instructors I've taken class with here. The location is prime but with that comes hard parking. They have probably around 10 designated CP parking spots, but other than that you have to find street parking, which can be a total toss-up. I live a mile away and leave my house half an hour early to feel comfortable finding parking because I have missed class before because I drove around for 15 min looking for parking (tip: park at Whole Foods if you cannot find parking, and treat yourself to a yummy post workout treat while you're at it). I also schedule my classes around whether or not it overlaps with another class (aka they would have already taken all the parking spots). Overall definitely a good studio, just not always the most convenient. read more

I have been doing yoga for about 4 years now in Houston and Austin and have never been to a studio that I LOVE as much as CPY Monarch! I have made progress here that I never thought was possible. The teachers are amazing- namely Jennifer Ro who is my absolute favorite! Also, the diversity of classes provides many options for students, beginners through advanced. My favorite classes here are CPY2 and Yoga Sculpt. The classes are spiritually and physically invigorating and will definitely make you sweat. I have never looked forward to working out as much as I do now! I am a big fan of CorePower Yoga. I am very new to the Yoga world and was totally against it (before even trying it) for a long time. Finally after years of family and friends telling me how much I needed Yoga in my life, I gave in and went to my first class. I WAS HOOKED! I loved that CorePower gives you a free week after your first time, I went every single day and I wonder if I am the first person to ever do that? Regardless, it now has me a Yoga addict. The instructors are lovely & inspiring, the studio is clean and everyone makes you feel very comfortable no matter what level your practice is. The classes at Monarch are amazing!! From someone that never thought you could raise your heart rate during yoga, I have been rightfully proven wrong by the Yoga Sculpt class... specifically with Addy! I like to sweat and Addy makes sure no one leaves the studio without sweating your body weight. Addy is superrrr intense in her exercises and the fact that she does them all along with the class is impressive and extremely motivating for someone taking the class. I am someone that gets motivated by really good music and Addy's music choices are loud, spot on, and energizing. As someone that incorporates cardio into my workouts on a regular basis, its great to get it in these classes. I also really enjoy the Hot Power Fusion class! I love the classes Addy teaches but really every instructor I've had have been amazing. I was so impressed by the classes I took my free week that I decided to purchase their unlimited membership. Yes. I liked it that much. Overall, If you haven't had your free week at the Monarch studio yet or you keep driving by the Monarch not knowing if you should give it a try... you should. CPY is my favorite yoga spot. Ever. CPY, in my opinion, is a great place to get your yogi on or even substitute a gym membership if you're super into yoga. They offer a variety of yoga classes throughout the day (basically a class every hour) so it's easy to go when you're able to go. Yoga Sculpt is my favorite class - it's uses weights and is more cardio-focused, so you sweat your balls off. The Monarch location has awesome, friendly instructors who make you feel comfortable no matter your skill level. I've been to several yoga places where you feel like you have to conform to the instructor's style (sometimes I don't feel like making my workout feel like a spiritual journey.. just trying to sweat it out here). CPY instructors make you feel comfortable no matter what you're trying to get out of your yoga. Woo. read more

I took a C1 class here with Anna and it was great. I've been doing yoga for 10 plus years off and on. The class was encouraging without making me do a headstand or get both of my legs behind my head. The room was heated and I thought to myself, "heck we might as well go outside and do yoga there but I was open to other different styles of yoga." Of course there's nothing wrong with sweating since I'm sweat like crazy during my marathon training. Within 15 minutes of the class I started sweating like I have never before. Unfortunately my yoga mat became a puddle. Also it was the first and only time I would take my shirt off which I have never done before even while I'm out running in the 100 degree heat. The locker rooms are nice with yoga accessories and clothing on sale. Just a warning about parking - there's not many spaces in the parking garage. read more

The class I tried out was called Yoga Sculpt - heated with weights. It was unlike any yoga class I had ever taken. Not that I am some yoga master, but this class was great and filled with a blend of stretching, strength, and cardio.
