Great space for an afternoon yoga! My friend invited me to practice for the first time. Bring 5 months pregnant, this was much needed. The space is large with a bathroom in the back. There are cubbies for your stuff, blocks and blankets to use. The environment is calming and smells nice. The instructor was a sub and very patient with me. I appreciated all of the guided modifications and extra pillows. After an hour session I felt fantastic! Recommend reserving a spot online! read more

The place is so zen! right when you enter you are greeted with a warm welcome from the instructor. I was running late but she made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. The class was 75 mins donation based and totally worth it. Be ready to workout if you book vinyasa. I will be coming back and raving about this class to my friends for a long time. The instructor was Iva. read more

Practice Yoga Austin - Yoga studio - Yoga Near Me - Austin, Texas

Practice Yoga is located along a great street where there is a ton to do. The building on the outside has beautiful radiant colors. When you step in, it's immediately a calming environment. It is so uniquely designed and the aesthetic is great! I thought I would not be able to manage 75 minutes, but it went by so far. Perfect temps, super nice instructor that helps you with your form, and there was plenty of space where I didn't feel crammed. They have yoga mats available with your class donation. It is easy to book online. There is a ton of parking along the road. It's a studio you should check out for sure! read more

The positive energy just emanates out of Practice Yoga. The studio is decorated tastefully in bohemian decor, giving a free-spirit aesthetic mixed with organic elements and nature. I took my first class with Tova and absolutely loved it. Easy to follow, easy flow, and so much self-compassion and love was felt post-flow. If this studio was located as a stand alone location with its own private parking lot, the boundaries would be limitless. Unfortunately, it's located right in the heart of East 6th, where you're fighting/stressing for street parking with bar patrons. read more

I've been going here for 5+ months now and it's an absolutely incredible community & an AMAZING group of knowledgeable teachers! BEST IN AUSTIN! read more

Updating my review: This used to be a very cool studio with sound bath and a warm atmosphere. However I dont love the encouragement of bullying on social media. Some teachers are really nasty and quick to attack people trying giving genuine feedback. Im going to chuck it up to a one off. But not into a snobby community and marketing Luckily the owners are lovely and responded. read more

This is my favorite yoga place in Austin. The classes fill up quickly because the instructors are amazing. I've always found it to be a welcoming atmosphere. read more

Practice is a beautiful studio. Great vibes. However I've noticed over the last few months the options for different instructors has diminished. I miss being able to take different types of classes based on the individual instructor's style of class. While the standard (now smaller) group of instructors are great, it's a lot of the same. Now the instructors I used to love taking don't show up on the schedule as frequently as they used to. read more

I visited Austin for a few days and tried this studio out the first morning I was there. Liked it so much that I came every morning of my trip! Lovely studio, calm and uplifting vibe, and great teachers. They also provide mats at no cost, which was great since I didn't travel with mine. I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in Austin! read more

I've tried many yoga studios in Austin but always come back to Practice Yoga. There are so many classes to choose from & the teachers are knowledgeable & professional. read more

I have taken a variety of classes here, from Vinyasa to Slow Flow to Yin. Each class has been thoughtfully sequenced and cued. The teachers are so welcoming and strive to make the classes simulataneously appropriate for both experienced yogis and those new to the pracice. I also love the wide variety of evening classes, as that is best for my work schedule. This studio always has a place in my rotation of Austin yoga spots. read more

I loved Practice Yoga Austin! I found it because I was staying nearby. I had never been to this studio, but I found super welcome. Classes are by donation. Recommended donation is currently between $10-$15. Mat and towel rental was available. I attended an all level vinyasa class. It was fast paced and plenty of modifications were given. Our teacher Lee was encouraging and provided great instructions. The space is just great. I felt totally comfortable there. Many different people and levels of yoga practice. There was even a few guys (I usually don't see very many men practicing in the Midwest!). Go to this studio! read more

Beautiful studio! Very passionate and knowledgable instructors. I took an all levels class and didn't feel out of place being more of a beginner. I appreciate that the class wasn't too hot. They had fans going and the thermostat was set to 83 degrees. A lot of other studios in the area are "hot" yoga places and I just can't imagine that being fun in 109 degree July Austin weather. Everyone attending the class seemed super happy to be there. Will definitely return. read more

Absolutely no help from the teacher with the poses. Seems like a multi level marketing scam, where the classes are essentially infomercials for expensive teacher training. This is not real yoga instruction. read more

One of the best places I have practiced yoga in Austin. The instructor I had, Laura, is very personable with a zen attitude and makes you feel right at home. (I was late and she was still super friendly- DONT be late. I felt horrible about this!!!) This is a donation pay, so bring 10-20$. card accepted too. If you check in on yelp, youll get a free yoga mat rental! :) read more

Thank you PYA for creating such a wonderful space! Not only is the studio beautiful and well-kept, the teachers are knowledgeable and attentive to their students. I have been practicing here since they opened and have felt my practice evolve thanks to the wonderful and diverse teachers. They are experienced and sensitive to student needs, constantly challenging and giving me mindful adjustments to refine my practice. The classes are accessible for all levels of experience! Especially the Align and Vinyasa classes. I appreciate the flexibility of the donation model since I can make my own budget for yoga whilst still honoring the teachers with this system. The overall vibe at the studio is friendly, welcoming, and laid back while still promoting a sense of community and support among dedicated practitioners. There is filtered water, clean towels, and yoga mats for rental for those who need them :) They also have blocks, blankets, straps, bolsters, and tennis balls in the space to complement your practice! Three changing rooms and a fridge make it convenient to fit your practice into your schedule. Parking is easy, there are spots all over the area (free during the mornings, Sundays and Mondays). Their website is constantly updated for workshops, teacher trainings, and substitute teachers. http://practiceyogaaustin.com *Follow their instagram account @practiceyogaaustin!* read more

Perfect drop in on my bachelorette party! Yoga instructor was amazing and nothing is better than donation based yoga! Love a community of people that allows all to enjoy and give what they can. Beautiful, clean studio and they had everything I needed including mats for us to use since we were out of town. read more

I went here with my sis who was in town to check out the city and to start our day, we decided to do yoga together and because it's a donation based studio (recommended $10-$15, you can pay by card), the place can get packed really quick so make sure you come early to get a spot. Our instructor was Shaanti who was nice and welcoming. Coincidentally she's also from the same city my sis was visiting from, what a small world, right? Anyhow the session is about an hour and a half and the moves are pretty easy to do but be prepared to sweat from head to toe, my friends because it can hot real quick with the amount of people in a room. Overall, my first time experience was amazing because even though I'm still kinda new with yoga, I did my best with the moves and still felt like I lost two lbs of just sweating. I would recommend coming here if you're looking to de-stress or want to try yoga for the first time. With the check in, you can get a free mat rental which is helpful if you don't have one or forgot it. There is street parking and if you're lucky to get one of the spots in the front, it's a 2 hour free parking which is pretty much the time you'll be done with the session. read more

I love the energy of this yoga studio! You walk in the door and you instantly feel home. The vibe is laidback and the teachers and classes are beyond amazing. And to top it all off it's locally owned, so that's cool too. If you're looking to do yoga, this is the spot! read more

My schedule runs pretty tight when I travel so I'm always giving up something to make space for a personal experience like a yoga class. In this case it was much desired sleep I gave up. I arrived early and paid for parking for the 7.15AM class but the teacher no showed. 6 other students and I left at 7.30. Disappointing. Edit: later the same day I received an incredible response from the owner that showed true depth of business character. Upped the review to three stars I was so impressed. read more

Love love love this studio. The best instructors in the city are here and most classes are all levels - truly great for beginners or advanced. There is PLENTY of parking, too - I go at night, in the morning, on weekends, etc and there's always a place to park. It's donation based, so you can walk in and take a class whenever ($10-15 suggested donation). It's not hot yoga, but sometimes they warm the room for part of the class. My favorite instructors are Adriene, Stacie, Laura, Shawn, Marnie, Rey, Reetu, and Jenn, but everybody is great - you really can't go wrong. (I realize I basically just named everybody at the studio, but really, everyone is that good.) The mindfulness classes on Mondays and Tuesdays are really unique and are great for stress management while still getting a workout. Also, this studio is GREAT for offering modifications and being mindful of injuries, which is important to me. Street parking is free all day on Sunday and Monday and until 6pm other days, so it's more affordable than parking downtown. There's free parking with validation from the stores next to Practice Yoga at the Corazon garage. There are usually plenty of spots on the west end of E. 6th - the end closest to I-35. read more

First time visiting this studio and I really liked it! The space was super inviting and the instructor was friendly and knowledgeable. They have everything you need there (blankets, straps, blocks, mats to borrow, etc.) and they clearly have multiple skill levels practicing. I've always been a bit nervous to attend in person yoga classes because I was worried about not knowing what to do, but it was easy to follow along and get corrections on what to pay attention to. A few things I wish I'd paid attention to/known before: where to park - still not entirely sure. I ended up going to a parking garage and paid through the nose, so I'll need to figure that out. And to be a little early to sign up and things. The door wasn't open when the previous class was in session, so I ended up meandering to nearby restaurants, which wasn't bad, but longer than I'd planned to be in the area. I'd definitely love to go back! read more

Very cool experience! I have never done yoga before and when I came here, they were very friendly and accepting of anyone to join their class. This place runs on donations, but don't worry about not having cash, they take card too! The class was a little over an hour and it was perfect for a rookie like me. The instructor was very good at conducting the class and made it a good first experience. read more

Signed up for Yelp just to write a review for Marnie and the folks at Practice Yoga. I've been going there for over a year. When I first arrived I knew very little. The vinyasa class is all levels and the instructors are wonderful to explain the posture, alignment, and names of each pose. They also give guidance on how to have poses be more or less challenging, but all for the sake of what's best for your body at that moment. The studio is in what feels like an old home with wooden floors, a foyer where you take your shoes off, changing rooms are in the back of the studio. Classes are donation based, suggested $15-20. You can rent a mat or towel if needed. All the instructors are great. I really enjoy practicing with Marnie. She is tough, for sure, but she gives verbal queues and hands-on adjustments (if you want them). She is so kind, funny, and her playlists are the best (she used to be a DJ in LA). At the end of her class, you'll feel stronger, calmer, and glad you were there. read more

Full disclosure: I don't really like yoga. I know, I know. Deal with it. But I find it mostly boring. But Practice Yoga actually makes me tolerate and dare I say it...actually kind of like yoga. Instructors are super nice. The space is open and clean. You can rent a mat, too. It's definitely a welcoming environment. There's a good mix of expert yogis and the non-commitment people (AKA my people) without any judgement, which is awesome. read more

Keep on practicing. Do it here. Multi-level teachers with multiple styles. So let me make a suggestion, it says donation based, but if you've got $15-20 to spare, pay it. You're making up for the others that can't by doing the good deed. Also that yoga teacher can keep on thriving as a teacher, affording to learn more and gain skills, with a life dedicated to learning and teaching the practice. Seriously, think about it, put your money towards the things you love, fund the teacher, fund the practice. Yes of course your presence is lovely too. I dropped in for one class. It was with Courtney around 6:30pm, I think, on a Wednesday night. It was a fun class. I had the flu for a week and had not done much movement yoga or running or anything, so I was ecstatic to be at a yoga class, any yoga class. Having the teacher just move me wherever they like and the community to do it with was a gift! Her class was fun... We eased into poses sans music for maybe the first 10-15 minutes, then dub step began to blast through the speakers loudly as we began to get into the vigorous part! Some times, some days this would have drove me nuts, but this day, this time, this place, the magic of Austin, the gentle ease into it, whatever it was, I was totally okay with it, and I'm so grateful for that. The class was challenging and fun. We were inverting, we were arm balancing and I was for sure sweating profusely. Yay, I love it when that happens! The savasana was nice and sweet too with plenty of time to relax. If you're new in town or browsing yoga studios, this is a good one! Good vibes and clean with a spacious changing area and sink in the back to freshen up. And even a mirror if you want to get all fancy, post-yoga. I would be a regular if I was a local to Austin for sure! Enjoy! read more

Practice Yoga Austin was a dream come true for me: All of my favorite instructors from Black Swan in a studio that's literally one block from my house. PYA's intimate size keeps classes compact, allowing for a high level of instructor/student interaction - it's like a boutique yoga studio. In particular, I find Laura's classes to be amazing. I've been attending them since I started my Austin yoga practice at BSY years ago and find her to be a friendly drill sergeant: Concise, specific instructions and a forceful desire for all students to do their very best (in a yogic sense), but a compassion and sweetness that seems to know no bounds. Whether you've just moved to Austin or simply need to find a new Austin yoga studio, I can't recommend PYA enough. Since I travel around the world for a living, my yoga practice is one of the only constants in my life, a fact PYA enhances with how home-y it feels. This place is literally my rock! read more

There are only 2 places in Austin with 5-star yoga: Practice and Yoga Vida (where I went for a decade). Practice is fun, with tons of instructors and styles and classes. The atmosphere is explorative and welcoming. It's also a beautiful studio. They provide mats and towels, which I greatly appreciate. I recommend trying the Alignment classes for strong, slow, reaffirming work. Remember folks: always try to pay your instructors, but if you can't, I promise they would prefer you be there for free (or just $5) than not come at all! Seriously! read more

I adore this place. Everyone has such sweet souls, it's donation based (though I use classpass), 'check in' on the Yelp app for a free mat / towel rental. -- My first class was a heated vinyasa with Tova. I love this chica's energy, as hippy yogi as that makes me sound. The class was challenging and she wasn't afraid to adjust you, sometimes I feel like instructors don't do that enough. It was a medium sized class and she still made a point to give everyone individual attention. -- Second class was mindfulness with Shawn. This is a really, really meditative class. You do a few sequences, but it really is more about connecting your breath and your thoughts, etc. So calming. Like everyone else is pointing out in their own reviews below, the vibes of this place are just off the chart and the classes are high quality. read more

Loving this spot!! This is my favorite space that I've ever practiced in. It's a nice mix of urban chic and rustic, lit with chandeliers. It's large enough for three long rows of mats. Donate before class in a cool donation box, or via credit card. Suggested donation is $10-$15. I only had $5, and they didn't make me feel bad about this at all. (I saw Black Swan turn away a girl who couldn't pay the full suggested donation. Heartbreaking.) KK is amazing. She focuses on spiritual alignment through body alignment. I feel like most places I've practiced in Austin focus so intensely on yoga as a body exercise that the inner focus is lost. KK had me at "quit doing stupid shit that dulls your luminosity!" I left feeling super revitalized. I can't wait to get back :) read more

Practice is probably one of the best donation-based studios in the Austin area! Every time I come for a class, I am always greeted by either the teacher or someone working the front. It is nice to see a smiling face if I had a long day with school and/or work :)! SPACE Even though the exterior of the building is a very energetic, vibrant blue, the atmosphere in the studio is very calming with the warm, ambient lighting. This is important to me because the space does contribute to how focused my practice will be, and my body and mind tend to like spaces where they can feel calm and energetic at the same time. TEACHERS The teachers are pretty freakin' amazing! I have learned so much from the teachers here! They all have extraordinary knowledge in the study of yoga as well as strong physical practice. The teachers bring positive energy to class, which helps on those day that you are in the pits. They also are very considerate to all of their students; The students with injury are given modifications to get the same benefit of the pose as if it were the actual pose. I have had nothing but great experiences in these classes. Stacie and Reiko are great teachers I highly recommend taking. They are both very nice, passionate, considerate, and knowledgeable teachers. You will DEFINITELY get something from every class :)! I have yet to take a class with every single teacher, but I plan on doing it really soon! Haha. SCHEDULE Very flexible. It works with any kind of schedule, really. LOCATION I LOVE the location! It is next to a few cool food trucks, happenin' bars, and just positive liveliness. The parking IS great too! I have not had ANY trouble with this! (This is very important to me! City parking is usually a drag, but not this place!). All in all, it is a great studio to practice in!! : D it is totally worth going! I know I will be there every week, haha! read more

I'm always looking for a great space for my Ashtanga practice and Clayton's Mysore class is amazing! There are few teachers out there with as much knowledge and experience as him. I completely trust his guidance and adjustments. Remember, Mysore is for beginners as well! It's a perfect place for learning. The practice will be customized for each person in the room to match their level and limitations. This is almost like having a private class in a room full of people. Practice yoga is super cool inside as well. Distressed wood floors and ceiling with chandeliers. There is such a peaceful feeling in this place! It's donation based too! What are you waiting for! Go visit ASAP read more

This place is awesome! If you are a yogi and in Austin and haven't been, then you have to check it out. A few months ago I started visiting Practice and very quickly it became a daily obsession. To put it in perspective, I'm a large athletic male whose body has not "practiced yoga" by choice much other than grabbing a remote control from under the couch a few times in my life. For someone like me to get this kind of obsession, it is the result of some incredible teachers providing alot of patience and attention to help someone with little to no experience feel welcome in this type of environment. So as you can imagine, the instructors are top notch. And it isn't just one or two of them, it's across the board. I could give shoutouts to nearly a dozen of them but it'd be missing the point of the community that Practice creates. All the instructors are beyond proficient at understanding both the energy and proficiency of the group and each individual -- which to me is the gauge of a great teacher. Not only are tips for adjustments given, verbally and physically when possible, but also a ton of options for all levels so that the beginner to the most experienced can get the most out of the class. (I understand if someone might question my ability to make these judgments but I've been to over a 100 classes now at a handful of places across ATX, and there is no question the quality of the teachers in these classes.) There's so much more to PYA though. The space is both inviting and serene. Big mirror in the front to keep an eye on yourself, if that's your thing. And now a badass mural on the wall in the back that evokes all of the energy that the space seeks. The ceiling which I find myself staring at frequently is old wooden boards that look like they should be a floor in an old Victorian home with some cool chandeliers around as well. And for an easy donation of 10bucks or 5bucks or 20bucks if that's what you got today, you can't beat the price. PYA is a great part of the ATX yoga community and I'm very thankful for what it provides me. Definitely check it out no matter what level you're at if you can make it by! read more

I don't really do the reviewing thing often and these guys are awesome. This space is warm and inviting. I love the look and feel of it. However this is only the beginning. Everyone is super welcoming and the teachers I have tried have delightfully knowledgeable and personable. It seems wonderfully different teaching styles are at home too, which I love. I'm sorry and I don't want to take the same class every single day. I have only been twice and I already feel at home in this cozy space. My first class was with Leah yesterday and she was awesome. My core was rocked, good times were had. Gorgeous music as well. My second class today with Jacob was equally wonderful. He had a chilled out vibe and brilliant alignment instruction as well as setting a clear and powerful intention. Thank you. I have a huge amount of gratitude for all the amazing souls that make this little nook of Austin that much brighter and amazing. Namaste. read more

This is an awesome donation-based yoga studio. You can feel the good energy as soon as you walk in. So far I have taken classes with Rey, Chris, Andrea, Sam, and a couple other instructors whose names are eluding me right now, and they were all great. Align classes with Rey are especially good for beginners because they explain each pose in detail, and I live for the singing bowls he plays during shavasana. Shawn's mindfulness class involved fairly minimal amount of movement, but it was one of the most profoundly relaxing experiences I have had in a while. If you're still taking xanax, try his class instead. Also I have found that the other practitioners here are particularly warm & friendly. Highly recommended. read more
