Small shop near Manley Beach features Hoki, Calamari, Prawns & Octopus prepared grilled or battered. Delicious.

    Fish Taco

This is the best place in Manly....period. Calamari....best I have ever had. Today I had their fish taco....Amazing. Coming from northern California coast line area where we have excellent fresh fish tacos and fish and chips.....this is right up there....if not better.

After an afternoon by the beach at Manly, we figured we ought to grab a bite before taking the ferry back. We were interested in some seafood, so we headed off to Fishmongers Manly. At about 4:30pm, we were the only party there. With a scattering of tables inside and a counter to order at, their patio held the majority of their seats, which were sufficiently covered with umbrellas and warmed with heaters. We placed our order at the counter, and bowl after bowl of food was delivered to our table. We had opted to go family style and to share: Family Box (Serves 4) $75 3 fish, 4 prawns, 8 calamari, 4 oysters, large chips, 2 potato cakes, tartare sauce, sweet chili sauce & lemon Tempura Vegies $15 a selection of fresh vegetables with soy dipping sauce Their final bowl of Seafood Chowder $15 It was $5 to upgrade each piece of fish from their default NZ Hoki to either the Queensland Barramundi or the Tasmanian Salmon from the specials board. We decided to have some fried, and some grilled, as we also did the shrimp. Speaking of which, they also allowed us to trade in our oysters for two additional shrimp. It turned out to be too much food for our party of 5, and not just because it was an early meal. We had way too many fries, and had ODed on the fried stuff. Yes, we should have just gotten all the shrimp grilled rather than going half and half - it also would have made the shell-on creatures easier to eat! There was a seasoning in the soup that we didn't particularly like, but on the whole, we quite enjoyed our meal. The bathroom though was oddly across the way. It was a public toilet, me thinks.

A free beer or wine with Yelp App Check in is just sweet +1 star. You can pick any beers from the fridge. You can also opt for any non alcoholic beverages too. Fishmongers Manly is a short walk from the Manly Wharf. We ended up coming here on a Sunday evening after a nice ferry ride from Circular Quarry. Fish and Seafood. Grilled or deep fried. The seafood was fresh and tasty. A little pricey at around $20 but still good pricing after you factor into the Yelp check in offers. The interior of the restaurant though smallish, I do suggest enjoying your meal at the heated on the heated patio.

Barramundi and chips with a delicious spicy dipping sauce. Yummy!

We really enjoyed our meal here! We had the Mongers box with barramundi and the best calamari we've ever had! Chips were perfect! Thick cut with delicious dipping sauce. Perfect location with proximity to the ferry and to the beach. Service was very friendly and we had delicious local brews.

Fishmongers Manly is probably about a 5 minute walk from the beach. It's a little off to the side from all of the souvenir shops and tourist traps, so it's quieter - which is nice. It can be easy to miss, especially since the storefront only says, "Mongers."There are a few tables inside, and some outside as well. Since I wasn't too hungry that day, a friend and I decided to share the mongers box ($20). It has a hoki filet, 6 calamari rings, and chips (or if you're American, then fries). You have the option to get the fish fried or grilled. We ordered it fried but I wish we hadn't. It was greasy and soggy. The calamari rings tasted like frozen ones. But the actual fish was pretty good. So it would probably be better if you ordered it grilled. Tip - check in on Yelp for a free beer or wine!

Flathead with salad and grilled corn

This is a great, slightly off the road restaurant for those looking for a lunch near Manly beach. We went here, and got the Octopus with rice, Barramundi, and the Flathead. The octopus was made with a sweet soy/sesame sauce that was not overpowering, and was very tasty. As for the barramundi, we had this as a classic fried fish n Chips, and it did not disappoint. The batter was light and flaky, and the chips were not too oil. And it came with a very nice spicy mayo that complemented the flavor profile

I dined here on November 13, 2013. The food was sensational. The presentation was stellar, and it tasted amazing. As a point of reference, I had fish and chips at an "upscale" restaurant in Sydney for lunch that day. I then ate here for dinner. The fish and chips at this restaurant (Fishmongers) was so much better! As other posters also mentioned, free beer if you check-in via yelp. The owner came out and chatted with us -- he seemed to know a lot on a first name basis already -- and I think he spoke to us for around 45-60 minutes. Very nice guy.

Fish tacos, definitely get a beer with it and don't second guess adding chips and a sauce to your order. So delicious!

This place came up first on yelp for Manly and I was not disappointed to say the least! The staff was amazing and super encouraging to help me pick the correct thing to order, as I am not from the area. The fish tacos were delicious and they were perfectly dressed. I will definitely eat here again if I'm in the area. So tasty! Don't forget a sauce to dip your chips in!

Amazing fish and chips. They take it to a whole other level. And when they say best in the area, including Sydney... It is! Order off their fresh catch menu! A little tricky to find. Turn left just before the fusion restaurant into the courtyard. You'll find it on the back left.

First, the salmon skin was cooked crispy and delicious while the salmon was flakey and not overdone at all. The option of half fries half salad is delightful (& pretty sure Mr was happy he didn't have to share his fries!) The salad was perfectly coated with a vinagrette dressing. Then.... the fish as chips were tender and fried perfectly! Next the Dutch waiter nice too! Bathrooms were gross... but food awesome!

Even if we needed something, it was super easy to flag someone down and they were able to get whatever we needed quickly. It's a very casual place with a fairly casual menu, and prices start at $15 for a main up to $35 for a plate for two. On average, expect to spend $17-$18 for a main, before drinks or starters. I did love that the cocktail prices were slightly below average for the area! Most cocktails were around $14-$15. Unfortunately, I didn't partake in one to be able to tell you if they were worth the price! We both definitely enjoyed our food. My guy said his soft shell crab was good, and I enjoyed fish and chips. It was a perfect portion, considering I was starving. The chips were actually some of the better ones I've had in this country! I liked the slightly battered taste and texture to them. The fish was super moist, and really crunchy. It might have been closer to 5 stars if the batter had more flavor. The tarter sauce was also good, and I LOVE when a place has ketchup/tomato sauce right on the table and doesn't make me pay for it.

Their menu is considered modern Australian with an Italian flair, which is an interesting fusion of cuisines. They have tapas, entrees (appetizer size), mains (larger portions) and sides, which can be shared amongst the table or paired with a main to make for a more filling meal. + GRILLED TASMANIAN OCTOPUS (A$28): The four of us shared this and it turned out to be a tantalizing appetizer! Three meaty tentacles and one flat piece were served on top of n'duja (spreadable pork sausage) with pipes of lime confit on the side. This was my first time having n'duja, which had a smoky flavor from Calabrian chilis that paired well with the grilled taste of the tender octopus. The lime brightened up the dish with citrusy notes. + SEAWEED PRAWN PILLOWS (A$22): While tasty, if I tasted these blindly, I probably wouldn't think of shrimp and seaweed being the two main ingredients. The shrimp and seaweed were finely minced and made into a batter which was then fried into a fritter. They were crispy and light with a soft mochi-like texture inside. Salt on the plate enhanced the flavor even more. + SNAPPER FILLET (A$44): The snapper was delicate, moist and had a wonderfully seared skin. It came topped with a few zucchini blossoms, but that was the extent of the dish, so I'd recommend ordering a side with this. It was placed on a pool of creamy white sauce (which may have incorporated Jerusalem artichoke as noted on the menu) and dollops of black garlic sauce came on top. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the black garlic which had a very earthy flavor that I found too strong and off-putting for the mild fish. The four of us shared a side of BROCCOLINI (A$14) which was a great pairing with all of our mains. It tasted super fresh since the stems still had a nice snap to them. They were simply tossed with extra virgin olive oil, sliced almonds and chili for a hint of heat. My dad enjoyed their spatchcocked chicken and my sister was happy with her sirloin steak. The steak was cooked more than the medium that she requested, but it was still delicious and had a zesty salsa verde. Overall, we had a lovely lunch here. Our meals were wholesome and I could tell that everything was fresh and of pristine quality. It's not fancy or Michelin starred or world renowned, but somehow it manages to find the perfect balance between beach casual and chic, while serving amazing food. We stumbled upon it and popped in for lunch after swearing we weren't hungry for a big lunch. Famous last words, right? We started with the caramel Ed garlic bread and piccolo burrata, both of which were amazing. I wanted to lick the plate but my husband gave me the side eye. Someone at the table next to us had the Prawn Salad, and it looked incredible, so we ordered that to split. The prawn salad is the best salad I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of salads. There were so many flavors and textures and mouthfeels - the creamy avocado, the crispy salty bacon, the sweet tender shrimp, the light oily vinaigrette, the warm salty halloumi. This is salad GOALS. It was so good that we just went ahead and ordered another entree - the grilled barramundi. It was also delicious, the fish was perfectly cooked, the asparagus was tender but firm, the potatoes were crispy but creamy, and the tang of the goat cheese and sweet roasted tomatoes really made something magic. It was temping to get dessert, but we did stop to check out the breakfast menu on our way out. Also - as a pregnant person, I was so thrilled to see a decent list of mocktails! The Passionfruit Fauxjito was really good and tasted like a true cocktail. This perfect little beach restaurant is so unassuming from the outside, but is worth the stop for the gorgeous views, attentive service, and amazing food!
