I am rather confused by the low love star rating. I came here with my boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend. We had excellent service, our food was excellent and that flavored herbs infused butter and bread rolls that are complimentary are money. My boyfriend got the shrimps and grits...let me tell you, these are griddle crispy grits and are as good as the ones if not better than those at Pat O'Brien's. That says a lot. Seriously. I got the Barramundi and we also got a cup of the seafood gumbo. All was excellent. There was a ton of seafood in the savory, rich gumbo and my Barramundi was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. The texture was what should be expected and we all enjoyed our meals, service and atmosphere. If I ever get the fortunate chance to return to Michigan, I will definitely make the stop at this place as it was memorable and excellent all the way around. read more

Great service from Joy and Martini. Both were extremely energetic and enthusiastic. That made for the best dinning experience. Unfortunately the older lady hostess at the front door rubbed me the wrong way for a second time. I live 10 mins from the Southfield location but chose this one. I have come in here from time to time and usually sit at the bar...there are always AT LEAST two bartenders. Today (7/21) there was only one bartender--her name was April. Let's begin with what people care about-the food. It was good for the area. And the cost was on the higher side of reasonable for two adults and a couple kids under eight: $90 tip include (no drinks, not even sodas, & two whom just had kraft mac n cheese). But soon after you forget how the perch tasted, you are left with one thing. Was it a good experience? And unfortunately that third piece of the dinning experience is a resounding "uh, nope". The customer service was/is bad. And it was not just one person having a bad day. It was universally bad. No real reason to belabor the point other than to say it misses most of the essentials of good customer service etiquette from "Soup To Nuts". I contacted "Nick" their GM and further described my experience, and while empathetic/surprised-he did nothing or said little to make me want to come back. (General line of "look for me next time you're here....) It's a mediocre place that's kind of busy. A solid 2/5 rating. Go there if that's for you. Tell me if the fish and chips are any good. The service was bad , the waitress ask if we wanted a bread basket and we didn't get it till we already had are food. Also we ordered perch and the size was like smelt and were 3 inches long. She asked me what potato I wanted and I said baked and was charged $2 more which I didn't know it was extra and the cost for perch was $32.00 plus my extra charge so we will NEVER go there again. read more

I don't frequent Fishbones, St Clair Shores much but I do declare that it is the best place on the east side for fresh sushi! They give you chunks of fish. You get a lot of bang for your buck and on a Friday night you just might catch an excellent live band. It is a bar crowd so for the single east side guy/girl you may dig this place. This place needs to either hire real sushi chefs and train their staff or get out of the sushi business. Had some basic sushi the other night. Shouldn't have to tell them the rainbow rolls are supposed to be bite size. And other rolls don't have veggies in them. The tuna was not the bright deep red you expect. It was pretty good but for the price it should have been better. I've never had gumbo with just rice and shrimp in it. The shrimp and grits were delicious though. My husband got the lobster and steak and ordered his steak medium. It came out well done. His side was a potato casserole and green beans and carrots. I really hate to be the debbie downer, but this is the worst restaurant I've been to in a while. I came here with my grandmother for dinner on a Thursday night. The waiter was OK, he looked like he was just having a bad day. The menu was incredibly overpriced (no wonder they don't list the prices on their online menu). My grandma ordered the filet mignon and I ordered a bunch of sushi. . SUSHI BAR: The first thing I noticed about the sushi bar is that the tuna and salmon were pre-cut into strips and rationed. This is the first sushi bar I've seen do this. Good sushi bars cut and make it to order. We spent around $40~$50 for the sushi. For the price we paid, I was expecting a lot more quantity and better quality fish. I was disappointed. They bombed my tuna and salmon roll with wasabi and skimped on the fish. Definitely not worth it. The special rolls were OK, but I wish they would've put more fillings and actually make it worth $14. STEAK: My grandma asked the filet mignon to be cooked medium. As soon as it was served, we cut it in half and felt the center. It was raw and dead cold in the center. It was so raw, I could hear it still mooing. We told the waiter and he sent it back. The 2nd time it came (they just reheated the old one), we cut it again and it was still raw! (I'll post pictures). We sent it back AGAIN, and it came back medium-well. So basically it took 1 hour and 30 minutes to get our steak overcooked. I asked the waiter if the grill master was new, and he said it was the usual guy that works there. Usually, good restaurants will give you a sincere apology (and maybe a discount) in situations like this, but this one did not. We ended up paying $100 for the extremely mediocre food + tip for 2 people. I'm giving this place a one star (a generous rating), only because the kitchen actually managed to put some food on the plate and not set the restaurant on fire. read more

This place never drops the ball. I'm not from the area and when I am I ONLY COME HERE. Never once has my order above messed up never once have I not gotten anything that I asked for even if it seems annoying they don't make me feel like that because they probably aren't actually annoyed. Ok so I have been here before and the one huge change is the food is kind of bland, not to the point of some of the others in the reviews but definitely noticeable. The service was fast and friendly as Bridget and her team did a absolutely outstanding job with my table. They were very attentive and responsive to all requests and needs. I think it was actually 'green pepper étouffée' with a guest appearance by a trio of crawfish.... Not good actually..... The flavor wasn't even that spicy, so I'm not sure if having a fair amount of crawfish on the plate would have helped.... Maybe I should have tried Jambalaya?? I'd been here a couple of times and have been to the Detroit location several more, but it had been a while since i'd been back and I really wanted some good Cajun food. I had totally forgotten that they had a full Sushi menu as well, and it rocks. Let's just get to brass tacks because I could be here all day describing stuff. I started with the Ginger Salad off of the Sushi menu and it was very crisp and fresh. Then I knocked back a White Tuna, BBQ Eel and some other random pick of Sashimi and my knees buckled with every bite. Just fantastic. Main Course I had the Catfish Atchafalaya, which is basically A couple of fillets of Catfish topped with Etouffe that had tons of Crawfish in it (pic uploaded). Really a masterpiece. I ended with a lovely slice of Key Lime Pie (yellow not green), and it too could not have been done better. Traveled from DC to visit family to celebrate my grandmother Birthday. I made a reservation on open table for outside. I called to verify they had outside seating but when we arrived we were told that outside was closed. Within 5-10 minutes of being seated they sat a table outside. I've been to a lot of seafood/creole spots in my day that this was probably one of the worst. The crawfish etouffee tasted like peppers only, no creole flavor, crab cake was so so, the lake perch was rubber. The one star is for the catfish beignet and the server Lillian. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The manger Adrian wasn't any help and didn't offer anything, just made the excuse that he was on when I arrived. read more

So this is weird but I hate seafood. HOWEVER...I was having a pregnancy craving for some fish and chips! We decided to go here and it was so good! The fries were a little cold which for $18 you kind of want them to be at least warm lol. But the waiter was fantastic! Theres no dress code but I did kind of notice that everyone that was "underdressed" was placed in a section to the left, including my husband and I. This establishment has a pleasant decor, although I think they could have done more with it being so close to Mardi Gras. Our waitress was pleasant also. I inquired about a Maurice salad and she said there's was delicious. Let's just say a far far cry from what I know as a Maurice. The lettuce was fresh and there was a lot of it but everything else was very skimpy -it looked like one little slice of ham lunch meat and a small piece of turkey lunchmeat.
