A solid place to go with a group of friends to get a drink and an appetizer or meal. Because they can accommodate a group, I come here sometimes with friends. The food is good, but kind of pricey considering it's a chain and nothing is unique or special. They have a large selection of things, and I'm happy they have sushi now, because that's usually my go to food item. The last few times I was here, service was lacking somewhat and it was a challenge to get the waiters attention for food & drink. Our waiter last time was definitely struggling, bringing people the wrong food, food not showing up and drinks taking FORRRREVER. So - that's why a 3. I also like in the summer / warm weather days you can go to the patio and do the indoor / outdoor thing and hang out around the outdoor bar. Worst Mothers Day brunch ever. I should have known better. In March I had a nice experience having brunch at Fishbones. The menu was great, service nice & prices fair. This lead me to believe brunch for Mothers Day would be a good idea. Boy was I wrong. It started when I called to make a reservation & I was told: we don't take reservations for parties of 4, just come in. So, that is what we did, when we got there, it was chaos. We waited almost 40 minutes to be seated & then another 10 in line for buffet food that was cold & unimpressive. The service at this location was terrible!! We had reservations for 40 ppl ( which we reserved 2 weeks prior) and had 1 server. After waiting 1 hour our server finally took appetizers orders and would NOT allow us to order our food at that time. After an hour appetizers arrived and then we were allowed to order our food after another hour and a half wait only half of the ppl in our party received their food. After asking for a manager Gregg graces us with his presence and began to yell at my friend ( whom is a women) even had his hands swinging all around in front of her face it was down right rude and very disrespectful. Fish and chips (the only Cod on the menu) tastes like fish sticks from high school lunch. I sent it back...(I never send it back) switched to the Lake Perch, this should easily be a no brainer, not so much, obviously NOT sautéut broiled in a vat of oil...what shall I do send it back again? Love fish bones!!!! Me and my husband only sit in the bar section because after many visits we have realized that the servers for the regular tables don't give the best service. The food is great! I've been going to fishbones forever. I've had some really good service in the past. But today was not one of those cases. My friends and I sat for about 15 minutes without any service at our table. A close by table was sat and within a minute the server came to their table. My friend then got up and went to the hostess and asked if we could get a server. She had apologized for the wait. The server finally came to our table with no apologies. He was pleasant for the rest of the evening. Then I asked for a substitution on my sushi boat like I have several times in the past. The sever then came back to inform me they couldn't do that for me this time. It was a simple request. Just to get a little seaweed salad instead of octopus. I absolutely love going to this restaurant until last weekend with my parents. I literally had the worst service ever there. She never came back once to ask how our appetizers were, refilled our drinks a couple times and that's it. She stood against one of the walls in the back and then on top of that got served cold food, my pulled pork smelled like wet dog and was so cold. My parents food were lukewarm. We frequent this location and the Detroit one at times and they are very consistent with service and the food is pretty good. They serve sushi and it's better than most locations in the area. The alligator voodoo and bbq shrimp are a must. Very pricy and portions are larger than most places. The ambience at both locations are excellent and I'm pretty sure the Detroit location has the largest indoor waterfall of any restaurant in the US. read more

Ordered the caprese salad which menu describes as tomato, mozz, fresh garden basil and balsamic. My salad came out with tomato and mozz on a bed of spinach. It really pains me to yet again give another negative review for another Eastside establishment. Went here last evening with husband. Our waitress was good. However, I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. I smelled something musty or moldy. I thought perhaps they had a water leak. Anyway, I put one bit of this plate in my mouth and quickly realized the smell came from the food. Thankfully my sense of taste never fails me. I spit it out. I then smelled everything separately on the plate. The shrimp was rancid. How dare they sell this!!!!!. The waitress called the manager. They did not offer a comp. Instead offered to make crab cakes instead. I knew these were ok because my family husband had an order already. Then we got the bill. We were not charged for the crab stuffed shrimp, but they charged us 30 bucks for the crab cakes. Bottom line, I can see yet another East side restaurant closing soon if this is how management treats customers. But what is even more concerning is how rancid food at such a high priced restaurant made it to my table. Stay away! read more

The live music is always awesome. Golden Tee is primo. As far as the food....its borderline un-edible. Stop at BigBoys nearby for a better meal, and then go hang out at Fishbone's. Normally I love Fishbones. After having made 18 trips to NOLA this is the closest place to New Orleans in the North. Well at least it was. Here is what my wife and I got for $76. Two 6oz pours of Chardonnay that we're actually 4oz. I know because I use to do tastings at a winery. The Gumbo was mainly roux and rice.only found 3 shrimp in an entire bowl. Pasta Orleans 6 shrimp, no scallops, the crabmeat and crawfish were chopped so fine you could only discern they were present by their taste, none could be seen. Then their is the Hurricane, a powerful conglomeration of liquors to be sure but it doesn't taste anything like a Hurricane in New Orleans. Finally you would think the coffee would have chickory in it like they do in NewOrleans. Having chickory gives it a unique flavor. And for desert 'cheese cake'. Really? No beignets! What I have noticed on the menu two whole pages of sushi and recently a tribute to the owners Greek roots, Saganaki! Hell why bother with the New Orleans motif, if your tired of New Orleans just create a food court, and offer Greek & Asian dishes along with American style fish dishes but if your going to be a New Orleans style restaurant try to be true to those roots. You get one more chance from me. You can do better. A lot better! read more

Their sushi is good but a little bit pricey. I like their Chicken Sandwich only if the chicken is not that dry. They put a peanut sauce on the bun so make sure you don't have allergy. I usually go on the weekend, but it is very noisy due to the live band. This place is more like a sport bar/ restaurant. They also have pool table on the other side of the bar. Be aware when ordering drinks...especially shots! Ask price first....mark up is ridiculous!!! I was charged $11.50 per shot for Patron. This is absolutely ridiculous especially since the shots were tiny!! Waiter never informed me of the cost which I feel would have been appropriate considering the extreme mark up. Had a craving for sushi so we headed up to Fishbones last night. We started out with a order of alligator voodoo for a appetizer. For our sushi we ordered the California, Godzilla, spicy tuna and the eel avocado roll. The food came quick and we were full in no time. Danielle B was our waitress and she is nothing shy of a excellent waitress. She greeted our table promptly and took our drink order. When she brought our drinks back she took our food order. I was able to catch the manager as he was walking by and I complimented our waitress to him. We talked for a short while about problems we've had in the past with the service and he said he was glad we had a good experience this time. My fiancée ordered a slice of key lime pie for dessert and the manager took it off our bill after all our good compliments about our waitress. All in all it was a great dinner and even though the service has been a little off at times the sushi is so good we keep going back. read more

Went for dinner with my boyfriend and sat at the sushi bar. I love the atmosphere here. I like being able to watch the chef roll and this was right up in the action. The only thing (as others have mentioned) is all the pre-portioned ingredients on display. The sushi still tasted fresh though. Their warm sake is pretty great as well! read more

I'm a fan of Fishbone's, both this location and the one downtown, because of their seafood gumbo. At $5/$7 for a cup/bowl, it's a filling lunch entree that is easy on the wallet. I visited the SCS location for the first time on Tuesday, 5/29 and it was a nice experience. The weather cooperated, so we were able to sit on the patio. (I would have preferred it be on the water because it is SCS, after all, but it was nice.) I had the spicy tuna roll in addition to the soup, and it was good. Standard sushi from a non-sushi restaurant, but decent prices - it was $5.75 for the roll. I can't comment on the entrees because I've never bought more than sushi and soup from here; for their prices, I prefer to go to a restaurant where I feel I can wear a dress and heels and not be at a "meat market." Overall, it was a great place to meet friends for drinks and a light dinner. read more

Fishbones - Sushi Bars Near Me - Saint Clair Shores, Michigan

Wife & I opted to go here for dinner on a recent date night. How many places can you think of that have decently authentic Cajun food as well as pretty good sushi altogether in a sort of upscale environment? Notice I am not raving about it, but it was not really a bad place either. We started with their Cajun spicy take on calamari appetizer, which was hand dusted with flour, so not overly breaded. It had good spice and juicy chewy squid body and tentacle pieces. Good stuff. I got the cajun breaded catfish meal with a side of rice blanketed with beans. The 2 large catfish pieces had a tasty homemade style breading to it, with the right spice and did not taste oily from the frying process. The catfish inside was flaky, juicy, piping hot and still had a bit of taste like the sea. Yum! Wife got a sushi roll and entree and was only able to finish about half of it all. I had warned her to just get the entree sushi but the additional roll had it being a ton of extra. No biggy. She said the sushi was pretty close to par with an above average Asian place to get sushi. We couldn't really see the sushi being made but it seemed fresh and good quality. Overall Fishbone's does a good job being a special place to dine out with New Orleans Cajun style look and feel in an upscale yet not too fancy place. Without question this establishment has gone right down the tubes. The customer service is horrendous and the staff follow the lead of the manager and just do not care. They are overstaffed I am assuming as most of the staff just stand around while orders pile up and the sushi sits on the side bar while the sushi chefs ignore the customers. Ordered a sushi order and the chef did it incorrectly and so he corrected it and put it on the side bar for a staff member to deliver his mistake which he could have done by handing it over the sushi bar. This took 15 minutes as it sat at the end while the staff was talking and not working. The manger was in the middle of the gossip fest while the customers were ignored. 4 other sushi patrons were at the bar and outraged as well. This place has great sushi but the atmosphere is so toxic that it is not worth returning. read more
