An interesting place with interesting decor. It's all a bit dusty and dirty though. It looks like it has not been cleaned in years. Sanitation wise was not that impressed. We decided to stop here for lunch on our way back to Tomball from Huntsville SP. Only a little off of 45 and well worth it! We had some darn good cheeseburgers, fresh cut fries and fried squash. The hot lunch line items looked delicious as well, and lots of the locals appeared to be getting this option. The waitresses all helped each other out so our tea was never left empty. The restaurant was packed during lunch on a Wednesday but our food came quickly and each burger was fixed as ordered. Nothing fancy here so come as you are and get you some good down home cooking. read more

Great little joint, we usually go just for breakfast and the food and service is great.

At this place you can order off the menu or walk up to a mini service line where you can get some meats and sides. I chose the latter and got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. It was the best cfs I have EVER had. The meat was tender, the breading was crunchy witout a hint of grease and the flavor was great. This place is not fancy and gets crowded because of the great down-home cooking. read more

This place is top notch! Super cute country feel when you walk into the door. The expo counter is right by the front door, so that can feel a little hectic at first. Once you get seated it's just fine. The food came out pretty quickly. I had the western omelet, which was HUGE and delicious! The eggs tasted fresh along with the veggies inside. My Fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy which was a sight for sore eyes. Giant fluffy handmade biscuits smothered in sausage county gravy. By far one of the best "hole in the wall" restaurants I have ever eaten at. We had a party of 6 with a child and they quickly and easily accommodated us on a busy Sunday afternoon after church. The dining area is small but it adds to the amazing hospitality the staff provide. Everyone we came across, were super nice and friendly. Now onto the food...I'm very picky when it comes to my chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. I got the chicken fried chicken and my husband got the chicken fried steak...and let me just say...A-MAZING! We were both super impressed with each of them. We will be for sure regulars here on our way back from church on Sundays and I would recommend them to anyone who's in the area! read more

Went there on Wednesday night. Had an excellent time. There was a Country band playing old time country. It was like stepping back in time. The kids had a great time and were able to be a little louder than normal because the music. Food was good. Had a sirloin steak, kids had fried fish. We enjoyed both. The service was good friendly. This place is fan-friggin-tactic!!! I love the rustic country feel of the dining area. It's definitely a hole in the wall kind of place, but the food and service are hard to beat. Thick slices of fresh veggies, perfectly seasoned burgers, homemade onion rings, sweet ladies serving the food. One meal could easily feed two very hungry people. I had a to-go box brought out as soon as I saw how much food was on my plates. I know I'll be eating left overs for at least 2 more meals. I'm also really picky when it comes to gravy (isn't every southerner?) but theirs met every expectation I could have. I can't say enough good things about this place, staff, and food. I'm excited to try their breakfast menu that I read about on some of the other reviews. Make the drive just north of Willis on 75 and you won't be disappointed. YUM-O!!! read more

Somebody actually compared the fried chicken to Barbecue Inn, so I had to try (each are probably 40 minutes from my home)- - plus I always love a great hole in the wall. Fried chicken was very small/cheap pieces, and pretty tasteless. Onion rings had outer part of onion in them that you could not bite-thru, though coating was good. Limited sides. Service was uneven. I may have gone in with too high of expectations. This place was highly recommended to me. Service was very poor. We waited too long for drinks and for them to take our orders. You must know the map on yelp will NOT take you to The Fish Pond, it is about 7 miles north on 75, so you may want to call and get direction. I live in Willis and never knew about the Fish Pond, but found it on yelp! I enjoyed the atmosphere, very laid back, lots of old interesting stuff to look at. Our waitress, was busy and we did not feel like we got the best service. My son and I split the sea food platter and it was, just good. The shrimp was fried in corn meal, not my favorite. I did enjoy the shrimp gumbo it was very good. Someone at another table had the chicken fried steak, it was very big, and I know my husband would enjoy it, so I will take him sometime. First the cons... It was loud, crowded, and the staff was in a state of constant confusion. The pros... Nice country cooking and generous portions. Nothing special but they will fill you up. Family run which shows with the drama on the floor. We may have been there on a special night. Two of the waitresses were fighting over how to split tips and a third just sat down and started crying. We stopped for lunch on a chilly afternoon. My hubby ate a ruben sandwich and salad. He said it was good. I am not a ruben fan. I had a bowl of gumbo. Its thick and gravy like and loaded with fish and other crustaceans from the sea, however, it was more like a gravy/stew than a gumbo. It was not good nor was it bad. The lady next to me had a big plate of fried catfish. I should have ordered that because it looked yummy. Found thanks to YELP. Wife and I went here for a Saturday morning "down home" brunch. My wife had the T-Bone steak, and I had the chicken fried steak breakfast. Both were cooked to perfection. The portions were huge, left with our next meal in a Togo box. Loved the ambience, staff was friendly.
