I know everything here is made to order, So I pre-order on the phone so I can just pick up my food and go, but when you get inside, it seems so disorganized, everyone is coming and going and you wind up waiting at least 15-20 minutes for someone to acknowledge you and give you your food. Some times I call and the phone rings and rings and when you go in, there are a bunch of people behind the counter.... which makes no sense to me. The demeanor of the servers is very nice but everyone is "Too Busy". They need to have someone dedicated just to the line where people place or pick up their orders. Pros: Loved the food and the service at Fish N' Ting. Sitting outside in the winter would be frowned upon, but they have these 6ft tall heating lamps that are superb. You don't even realize you are outside. Nice music selection. Very comfortable. I had the Oxtail Dinner, white rice and veggies which came with a surprisingly great bowl of GOAT HEAD SOUP... Oh my oh my one of the best tasting soups ever. I even took a bowl to go. My partner ordered Shrimp Rasta pasta and we argue about who's is better Footprints or Fish N' Tings.. so just give it a try( U decide) Lastly the highlight of my night was the two shots of Bob Marley.. I'm a huge fan of Fish N' Ting! The food is always on point. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. I typically order in advance and pick up. If you're getting the Rasta Pasta or Steamed Fish they tell you it usually takes 15-20 minutes (it's really more like 30+ minutes). The front is very unassuming and you could miss it between the auto-shops. When you go inside there is a small bar on the right and straightforward is where you can order food to go or get a table to dine in. There is also seating in the back that's outside (it's covered) with a bar area as well. On this occasion, I dined inside and our group ordered the callaloo spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp rasta pasta and seafood pasta. We also had two drinks. The food is always good but the rasta pasta is supposed to be spicy but this time around it wasn't. The callaloo spring rolls were really good and spicy. The food was also lukewarm which was a disappointment. The drinks were very sweet which is expected for what we got but it tasted like we were drinking syrup and not a mixed drink with alcohol. Now for the service. The service here is always so spotty. I feel like it depends on the day and the person who ends up serving you. For this visit, the person who served us just wasn't friendly at all. She never introduced herself and it seemed the entire time she was avoiding us. We actually received great service from another waitress who was serving other tables. Recommendations: Goat soup, chicken soup, red snapper (steamed) and rasta pasta's. This was a really delicious experience. The reason I know, because we are still talking about after leaving there earlier today. We had time to kill before taking our daughter to the airport for her to return to school. We wanted to end our weekend on a great note...well we ended on more than a great note..more like a symphony or orchestra lol For starters we had festivals and plantains. We also ordered the carrot juice. Idk what else was in the juice but my goodness it was delicious!! My husband had the jerk chicken, daughter had the shrimp Rasta and I had the jerk salmon. Every thing was so deliciously seasoned and the portions were great. I could tell the salmon was a good selection and fresh. No fishy taste and it was not over cooked. Perfect! I can only speak for their jerk chicken: IT IS BOMB. No joke, it is one of the best jerk chicken joints I've ever been to, and I'm including the whole of the Bronx AND Brooklyn in this hyperbole as well! I've lived in the Bronx for 1 month, and I've already had jerk chicken from 5-6 different restaurants, just to illustrate how obsessed I am with finding a jerk chicken spot that my picky self actually likes. Be forewarned: it has got a nice kick to it, so if you don't do spice, you will not be able to handle this jerk chicken. The chicken is marinated well, jerk seasoning is really good, and when it's all mixed in with the already well-seasoned rice and peas...oohhhh guuuurrrl, it's really, really worth a trip. I'm salivating right now as I write this, just thinking about it! Definitely recommend a trip! One big down side is I cannot get them to pick up the phone for call ahead ordering the last bunch of times (we have come here more times than I'm comfortable admitting) and we end up waiting a really long time to get the food. This restaurant is, by far, some of the best Caribbean food I have tasted in a long time. I took boo here on 6/25 for a night out. I found this place while I was searching on google for a place to take him. I came across Fish n Ting. The food pics attracted me. We arrived around 7pm on Tuesday. Its a cute spot. I had the Shrimp Rasta Pasta which was mild and the Fire Fly cocktail. It was a splash of something sweet and a dash of sour. It was not to sweet or sour. He had the Snapper fish with rice and peas and Island Rum Punch. He said it could of been more spicy. I did have to ask if we can have water. Thats usually is offered when you first arrive. I didnt try the mac and cheese and that is one thing I like to try and Carribean spots. Our waitress Simone was nice. She checked to make sure everything was good. The drinks were $12 and $13. I am not sure if they have a happy hour. The pasta was $18 and the snapper $22. I gave Simone a $10 tip. My friend brought me here. The area is sketchy and next to a dealership. The entrance to the restaurant is unappealing but we entered and made our way outside towards the patio. The patio spot is gorgeous. I could def see it as a place to hang out during the summer months. I believe I had the oxtail rasta pasta. It was okay. There was SO much sauce which I did not expect. It made the dish unappetizing. Imagine oxtail sauce mixed with the cream from the pasta. Yuck! Also I ordered the calaloo spring rolls which were nice and different. I've never seen that before. We consistently order vegetable Rasta pasta and a side of jerk chicken every time we order from here and everyone in our family who has tried it, has loved the food. Food is consistently good but what keeps up from coming back more often (this the 4 stars) is that this place is TOO busy and there have been multiple times where I've tried to call in my order, calling over 50+ times and getting a busy tone. So if you get lucky enough to get through on their phone line or have 20 min to just go and order in person and wait, this place is def worth it and I recommend it. If you're in a rush, I'd wait until you have more time. Staff is really nice and one time forgot my jerk chicken and gave me credit on my account to get a free side the next time fo make up for it! if being too busy is the only problem at this place, it's a pretty good problem to have! read more

That aside, Fish N' Ting is definitely where it's at in the Bronx for sit-in (or carry out) Jamaican food and drinks. Let me just forewarn you... The drinks are STRONGGG. I'm not a light weight and let me tell you...ONE drink has me set for the night. They're really good though and the rum punch is their staple. Now, on to the food. The food is always well seasoned and delicious. I've had the callaloo spring rolls (they never seem to have the ackee ones available ), jerk shrimp (spicy but it's jerk; it's supposed to be) and shrimp rasta pasta (mild spice) which all slap (delicious)!!!! Lastly, some people don't know this, but they have an entire seating area at the back of the restaurant. That's the best place to sit if it's not full and they have a whole other bar back there as well. The front of the restaurant is a little deceiving. Soooo traveled all the way from Brooklyn because I had a lot of time and heard great reviews from a fellow foodie. at first I thought the place was tiny but, the hostess told us they was more seating in the back and when she walked us back there it was restaurant style. ( Okaaaaay) it was basically heated patio seating. It was a little chilly back there but, to warm us up our waitress gave us complimentary chicken soup - which was amazing btw. Very hearty with good up shredded chicken , dumpling and carrots and Likkle spice. Definitely hit the spot. I ordered festival as an appetizer and shrimp and chicken Rasta pasta for entree. Which was pretty good just not as spicy as projected but, it was still on point. My friend ordered a jerk chicken wrap which she raves about because it was literally actually jerked chicken( like off a grill and not the boneless baked tenderloins ppl be trynna pass off ) My godson was with me and we ordered him the chicken tenders and fries which was pretty good as well. A hidden gem in the Bronx. Found out about this spot after a quick yelp search. We were a party of 8 and we were celebrating a baby christening. We arrived and was seated within 10 minutes (that's great considering we had no reservation). Was pretty surprised that they didn't refuse us because of the baby. Once seated they took our order for appetizers we ordered the chicken soup, festivals and the ackee spring rolls. Those were some tasty appetizers. For entrees we order the chicken and shrimp chop suey, the shrimp fried rice, coconut shrimp with rice and peas, fries and chicken tenders and the whole snapper with rice and peas. I ordered the fried chicken with rice and peas but was told about 10 minutes later that they were sold out (that was my only problem). So I ordered the curried goat instead. I had a taste of everyone's plate and everything was seasoned to perfection. Did I mention how big the portions were (they give you a lot of food). What can I say about the drinks. I ordered the rum punch and I must say it's the best I've had in a long time (no one can get the recipe right). It was strong and tasty but one is more than enough to give you that buzz you need. So, as usual my BFF and I ventured out to tease our taste buds. As I looked over the menu there was so much to choose from. The Jamaican Fried Rice caught my eye. There is something for everyone. For all of the chop Suey lovers there are a variety of dishes to try: Fish Chop Suey, Chicken Suey, Shrimp Suey and Vegetable Suey. Okay, so I came across Jamaican Fried Rice made to order. They had every type of fried rice you could think of. I ordered the Jamaican Chicken Fried Rice (Yes!! Chicken Fried Rice). I sat and looked at the menu in disbelief, Of course I wanted to give it a try. Dined here on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised. Parking took us a while to find, but was definitely worth the hunt. My sister and I came and sat in the back area. The decor was aesthetically pleasing and had great background music. I had the garlic shrimp and my sister had the curry shrimp with a henny mojito (a must try). We also ordered a side of Mac and cheese. The food was delicious. My garlic shrimp had just the right amount of garlic and the sauce paired excellent with the white rice. The same for the curry shrimp meal. The downside was definitely the Mac and cheese. It looked great to the eye but it was extremely bland tasting. It wasn't seasoned and lacked flavor. I come here often and never had any real complaints. The price of the dishes have gone up but the food is still good. There rum punch is definitely a must have. Ive had every rasta pasta that they have to offer. Sometimes they are skimpy on the oxtail and on the chicken but most times a decent portion size. I've tried the Red snapper which is a little costly however the fish is huge and the overall portion size is large. I also tried the shrimp and chicken Rasta pasta which was made to order. That was also delicious; lots of flavor. The overall ambiance of the place is nice. You have the main area upon entry which seats a few tables. Then there's a section for take orders which to me is a bit in the way of everything because it gets crowded. My favorite section is the back which is located outside the restaurant but during the winter season they have heaters to keep you warm.
