I visited the FHC after a family birthday party. Apparently my wife had been here before but I was not privy to that experience. Before we get in the building we notice the parking lot is super packed. We didn't know there was another venue attached and they was a concert going on. So we walk up the 101 stairs (not really, but there were a lot when you're wearing wedges and a dress) and take a seat in a booth. Kwan (I think that's how he spelled his name) came over and immediately gave us menus and took our drink orders. Now I'll say we (the group I was with) just came from a birthday party and we were looking to continue the good time and fellowship. E and I ordered mozzarella sticks for an app and a drink. I had some sort of crush (yep, it was that kind of night) and E had something. Our companions ordered moscow mules, nachos and wings. We decided we were still hungry so E and I ordered off the small bites menu --- a burger and a cheesesteak with fries. Note to anyone ordering wings --- if you ask for them to be fried hard they will be EXTRA hard. Also, order nachos earlier in the day or you may get them extra stale. E and I had no complaints about our food. When we're back in Baltimore, we'll take another visit earlier in the day. read more

If you are going to offer Uber Eats, do it right, or don't do it all! Fish Head missed (3) sushi rolls out of our order (these rolls didn't even make it to their internal order tickets that came on our bags, see pic) . We called the restaurant and explained the issue... no apology, no offer to fix it... just "you can contact Uber and they can refund your order, or you can come pick up what was missed". When my wife said "that defeats the purpose of having a delivery", the guy on the phone hung-up on her. Not only did he ensure we will not be ordering a delivery again, but it is highly doubtful will be visiting the restaurant again with employees like this! read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found on my first trip to Fish Head Cantina. Parking in front of the building u.s kinda small, but there is a huge parking lot across the street. When you walk in the first thing you see is a pretty good size bar. To the right of the bar there are pool tables. To the left is the main dining area, beyond that is the fresh sushi bar. That's right, sushi, I didn't expect it either. Food wise everything I saw looked really good. But because I am the adventurous type I went for the sushi. Decided to keep it simple and went with the spicy tuna. It was very good. There is also a pretty good size deck that I imagine is nice during warmer weather. And finally there is another area, where they have live music. The band that was playing on this particular night wasn't my cup of tea, but there were plenty of people there who were enjoying it. I stayed in the main bar area and couldn't hear a note, so it worked out for everyone. read more

I visited this place a while ago and it has recently come to my attention that the service here was not in the least bit pleasant. My sister was discriminated against, and had her ID held at the bar because the server told her that the restaurant policy says that her ID should be held, due to theft of glasses from the restaurant. It later came out that this policy applies to only the mule cups, which was not made clear at the time of the incident. The staff was either misinformed or being discriminative. Either way, this type of treatment toward a paying customer is completely unacceptable. If this is indeed the policy, it should be posted somewhere in the restaurant. I had previously said I would visit here again, but with this recent development, I'm definitely passing on another visit here. read more

Living in the Arbutus area, there are not many bars to choose from. Fish head is a breath of fresh air in the neighborhood! With a lot of open space outside to sit at and friendly staff, happy hour here is a treat! I enjoyed the nachos and meaty wings- both 20% off from 3-7! Sushi was an odd thing to have at a bar, but we got it anyway and were not disappointed! The spicy tuna was indeed SPICY. If you stay late enough, there are also bands playing outside- but they do charge cover! We had to leave or pay up after we finished eating so we decided to continue our drinking elsewhere. read more

So glad I cane across this. I wanted something different for lunch so I checked to see if they were open. Yes. They were. Following all safety features inside. So glad we decided to order lunch. They had great customer service over the phone. Food was hot when I arrived. We ordered steak and shrimp wrap, the Reuben, and shrimp tacos. THEE best. Nothing was left on out plate. Fish Head continues to deliver with good food & good Service. We've been back for live bands, Roaring 20s night, Trivia, and Music Bingo Trivia. Christina continues to shine her smile, and Jen & Emily (not the proper spelling, sorry)rock out the dining room. It's nice to see some longevity with the wait staff, though we still don't know all the names. They recently revised the menu, and one of my favorites is now gone (Sigh). I'll check the specials each week, but if nothing there strikes my fancy, I go for one of my regulars, like Cantina Quesadilla. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. This was the absolute worst I have ever been treated at a restaurant EVER. The waitresses were very cold and rude to me and my four friends. We sat ourselves down and began to look at the menu but we couldn't decide on what to get. The waitress came back a second time after we weren't initially ready to order. A total of maybe 10 minutes had passed since we first sat down and we asked her for just a few more so we could finally agree on what to order. She rudely rolled her eyes at us and walked away. FHC has a rule that no one under 21 can be seated past 9pm. My friends and I were told that we all look too young to be there and even after we showed them all of our IDs the first time they asked, waitresses kept coming back to our table to card us every time they passed us. Why not mark our hands? Or if you don't want to accept our VALID IDs just ask us to leave?? At this point we were fed up, between the rude service and the ID situation we were done with the restaurant and got up to leave without ever putting in an order. I recommend that you save yourself the trip here and try for somewhere a little more welcoming. read more

Today, my aunt, baby cousin & I visited Fish Head. Overall the food was great! Customer service needs improvement. Short staffed I'm assuming. We ordered Blue Crab balls(mrkt price), crab cake wrap(mrkt price), chicken tenders, shrimp & bacon quesadilla and shrimp tempura. All food came out hot and delicious. Fish Head cantina is an old biker bar in an industrial neighborhood of Baltimore that has pretty darn good sushi on the menu, among lots of other offerings. It's totally jarring to be sitting there at this old grungy bar with pool tables and video games, eating nice, fresh, expertly prepared sushi. This just might be my new favorite place! Discovered it quite by accident and what a pleasant discovery it was. Don't judge this book by its cover--it does not make a good first impression from the outside--but once inside the door it is a complete bar and restaurant. The service was excellent, the decor is warm and sports bar comfy. Best of all it has a fully functional sushi bar right in the middle! The food was excellent. A sushi burrito was stand out unique. The sushi we had was great, and a solid shrimp taco. The Cantina also has a complete outside area with a concert stage that was not open during our lunch. I've been here a couple times now. They have a legit sushi bar in the middle of kind of a dive bar / live entertainment venue / biker bar / family restaurant / beach bar/ pool hall amalgamation? Pretty sure I saw a 70's pimp (purple fedora with feather and all) and his girl (thigh high leather boots and faux mink coat) there the last time I visited. It's for sure a unique establishment to say the least! And the sushi, while not super adventurous, is pretty good too. My only complaint would be that the parking is kind of limited for the amount of people that show up, so you have to wait sometimes for parking or have to park further away. It's definitely worth a visit though, if only for the people watching and some decent inexpensive sushi. read more

This place treats sexual harassment as a "joke" - quote from the general manager Saw this sign confronted a female bartender about it was met with the curt, rude, sarcastic response of "it's open to interpretation" as she laughed and walked away from me. Then spoke with the manager and asked him what the sign meant, he said it was a joke. I asked if he thought sexual harassment is a joke and he said "yes when we're joking amongst coworkers and friends". The food is always awesome whether dine in or delivery. The service is pretty good. It's also generally quick.

Good food, for brunch they have cream chipped beef on the menu which is my favorite breakfast. The crab pretzel is also pretty good, and my boyfriend liked his sushi. And their cheesesteaks smell amazing (I haven't tried one because they tend to hurt my tummy). All of the servers wait on you there, so the person who takes your order isn't always the same person you brings your food, or who you get napkins from, or gets your shots from the bar, which is kind of cool, but they pool tips so don't go in there being stingy. read more

Still my absolute favorite bar! (Please see my 2014 review) My husband and I used to be able to go to Fish Head every weekend when we lived in Arbutus, and when we did-all of the staff knew us by name and knew our drinks of choice :) nowadays, we don't get there very often (due to moving to Columbia-and having a new baby), but I've been able to get there a few times since. The food and sushi is always on point, the bartenders and staff are(and has always been) super nice and attentive. There are recent claims by customers stating that this place mocks sexual harassment due to a joking sign they had behind the bar FOR YEARS. I've seen this sign up during my visits, and went ahead and continued my visit without being affected by it. It was obviously not to be taken literally (no one truly "grades" sexual harassment). As a mother of a beautiful daughter, I will be raising her to be able to distinguish a joke from offensive content. People need to lighten up these days! read more

GET THE SUSHI! I was really leery of getting sushi here. We love dive bars and trying new places/food but you can't get sushi from just anywhere, right? If you want sushi; this is your place to go. Fantastic sushi and they have a lot of different choices for sushi. Volcano Roll and Firecraker Roll are two of my favorites. The Reuben is top notch too. A great place to go for food and beer. We took our kids there once but doubt we will take them again. For us it is not a family style place to take kids. read more

If you live in the catonsville/arbutus/Halethorpe area, you probably know of fish head cantina. There's not too many bars in the area I frequent but this is one of the good ones. It's funny, the first time I came here was during college and it was right after I had turned 21. Felt like a little kid in a candy shop. Parking was a big hassle especially on the weekend. Place in general might be hard to find if you don't know the area but if you come here during a busy night, you can expect to park decently far. When you enter, it's like a regular bar. You can get whatever you want and they also have some good sushi surprisingly. I know right? A bar having good sushi? Who would've thought!! Then you can go in the back and there where they usually have the live music and it's an outdoor thing. We decided to visit this place for open mic night and we were a bit worried at first. Finding the place is difficult and the decor, the people, etc. might not be the best for those looking for a classy (or even average) establishment. However, once the open mic started and our server arrived, I can tell you our experience was definitely good. First, let's warn people about finding the place. You have to drive the back roads of Arbutus, a Baltimore suburb I'd never even heard of before. Then you come across a random sign for the place... but no bar. Yes, the sign let's you know you're in the right area, but unless you know to turn up this side road (between unkempt yards and a commercial warehouse), you'd never see the place. Second, the demeanor of the place is part biker bar, part tiki bar, and all working class. Now, I have no problem with that as I spent much of my 20's as part of that demographic. However, if you're looking for a night out at a dance club or prefer up-to-date establishments.... this place is not for you. T-shirt and jeans is the dress code, much of the building is well-worn (and the tiki bar looks haphazardly put together), and there's a feel this place never left the Grunge/Hard Rock period of the 90's. Now, those are just warnings... still interested? Good. Because the service was good and the food was excellent. Unlike a lot of bars, this place has a kick-ass kitchen with a great menu. We ate a couple of their signature burgers and they were great. Plus, you have your choice of sides, from Old Bay chips to fries to tater tots. They serve salads, other sandwiches, steak, shrimp, etc. If you go on specific nights, they even have specials (Wed - 1 lb. of steamed shrimp for $10!!) and I could definitely see myself eating here more if I lived closer. So, right now I'm saying this place is A-OK and a good choice to visit; I would honestly give it 3.5 stars if I could. If I come here some more and the service and food continue to be good, I might just up it to 4. For all of it's back yard, rough demeanor, this seems like it might be a diamond in the rough. read more
