Update: Still good, great food! I really miss the outdoor tables, it was so nice to sit and enjoy the meal. Now there's no seating besides a bar type outdoor area, which makes it harder to come unless it's takeout since it's busy inside. I was also sad to see the lemonade go, it was a favorite and a highlight for me. Now it's just bottled drinks. Customer service could be a bit better, but the food is what makes this place amazing. Shout out to the chefs! They're the reason I'll always come back!

SALMON & KALE bowl
Jenny N.

First time here and I enjoyed the food so much! The gentleman placing our order was polite and patient. I got the salmon and kale bowl which tasted healthy and delicious. The kale was seasoned well. If you like onions, then you will like this bowl. My husband got the combo box. It came with fries, fried fish and shrimps. He loved that it came with 3 types of sauces: cocktail, thousand island and tartar sauce. We were full and satisfied with our dinner.

Calamari fritti

We loved all the food here. Made fresh, fast and with friendly customer service. We were the only ones eating in house at the time, but this store had a steady stream of to-go orders. Decor was a soothing modern coastal, dining areas and restrooms were very clean. A spectacular sunset outside added to the ambiance. Started off with the excellent New England clam chowder ($7) that had lots of clams, medium thickness, not too salty. Next up calamari fritti ($12) which was light and crispy, not rubbery at all. My mom and sister ordered wild ahi tuna plates ($17.50) and I got the battered Alaskan cod with fries ($14.50.) Praise to the cook for making our fish exactly right! The tuna was seared & tender and my cod was hot, flaky and not greasy. One of the sides was a sesame cabbage salad that I could've eaten a bucket of, it was so delicious. Their fries had that nice extra crunch and seasoned perfectly. The young man helping us recommended the wasabi aioli dip which turned out to be my favorite. Fish District is a solid choice for high quality, non fancy seafood that won't break the bank compared to the other resturants in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. We will be back!

It's been growing on me as a nice healthy option near Bressi Ranch. It's been around for many years and needs more recognition as a decent neighborhood eatery. I think it's not top of mind because the seating is fairly limited- I'd recommend having no more than 5 people in your party at the most. There are only about 6 tables inside and three outside. I do enjoy the flexibility to order different styles of fish. I usually get a salmon plate with a grilled filet with greens and veggies. I'd love to see them doing some kind of wine happy hour- it would be great to sit outside on the bar with a glass of wine and small bites.

Traditional style salmon, taco, and Baja style shrimp taco
Trecia L.

Parking was easy on a Friday evening. It was after 8 pm. It wasn't busy. I ordered the traditional style salmon taco, and the Baja style shrimp taco. I didn't realize until, after ordering that the salmon was not wild caught, but it was tasty though. The shrimp didn't have much flavor, but the other items in it helped. I'll have to look further if they have other wild caught seafood since that's what I normally try to order.

Here's part of our receipt $$$$!

Food is very good. Restaurant is clean. Came here to dine in one afternoon. The place was quite busy with lots of takeout orders. There's several tables for dining in. Ordered a clam chowder and the seared ahi bowl. The clam chowder was amazing, loaded with clams and the flavor was on point, nice broth not too salty. The bowl was good but a bit plain, would have been nice to have some additional ingredients like corn or black beans to add to the flavor. The ahi bowl just had lettuce and rice. Overall nice experience. Parking can be challenging depending on the day due to the popularity of Bressi Ranch.

Awesome fish & chips!

Absolutely the best fish and chips we've ever had! The batter was perfectly crisp, the fish flaky and flavorful. The mango shrimp tacos were scrumptious--plump, juicy, and bursting with fresh flavor. On top of the amazing food, the service was so friendly and kind, which made the whole experience even better. We loved it so much and can't wait to come back!

This is a chain store. There seem to be three of them in SD. I went to the one in Carlsbad. It was recommended by a friend. You can scan the code to order directly. No tip is required. My friend always orders salmon + salad every time. It's very fresh, healthy and delicious. I ordered a poke bowl and a taco. The poke bowl was great, very filling. The taco was a bit ordinary and not recommended to order.

Ok, if this review was just for the food it would be high, but unfortunately my experience was mixed. I have been craving fish and chips for about a week, which is rare, but I needed to get rid of the craving. We arrived at about 8 (I know they close at 8:30) and the restaurant was empty. The guy at the counter was friendly and polite. We ordered to eat in and sat down to wait. There was a lot of to go business so people were coming and going the whole time. One of the staff members was complaining to another about a previous customer and how she wanted something off menu and they were not going to give it her no matter how persistent she was. He went on about it for a while. Then they brought our food. It looked wonderful, the fish was golden, perfectly cooked on the inside and the fries were perfect. We happily dug in and it was everything I had been craving. They were apparently getting ready to close (it was 8:10) and they rolled out the mop and bucket after complaining how bad the bathroom and water in the bucket smelled. As we sat there eating I watched one staff members open a bottle of bleach and pour some into the bucket. I was a bit surprised they would do this with customers eating but I assumed they would probably roll it back into the back. They did not. Slowly the whole room started smelling stronger and stronger of bleach, to the point it made me a little nauseous and I couldn't eat any more. We emptied our trays into the trash and left. Maybe that was their goal to get us out? It was 8:24 when we got in the car so we weren't keeping them. This is likely a training issue but I think future visits will be during the day. It was really disappointing.

Looks like 2 mozzarella sticks and a piece of fish

I have been eating here for years. Never had an issue until last night. 3 piece fish and chips had the smallest pieces of fish I've ever seen. They are usually twice the size I received last night

Crispy rice poke. Must try! So good.
Yaejin R.

Great casual spot for some quick food! We ordered the Chowder Fries and Crispy Rice Poke and they were both great. There was plenty of parking. The two girls working here were so pleasant and friendly. They offered to make any suggestions on the menu and throughout our dining experience, they were just having a blast working which gave off such positive energy.

After a long day at Legoland, we were ready for dinner. We decided on seafood and found this place nearby. I didn't get a chance to look at the menu before we left our hotel room, only my husband did haha. When we arrived, the restaurant was located in a shopping plaza directly in front of Stater Bros. There was plenty of parking. The restaurant was quiet, not too busy. When you walk in, you must place your order at the counter first and then sit down. We ordered the shrimp basket, shrimp po boy, poke and chips and a kids chicken tender plate. All were delicious. We will keep this place whenever we're back in Carlsbad.

They had bread, but ordered more for us late comers. It was a while before a server came to the table, long enough that when he came to take our drink orders we had viewed the menu and were ready to order our food too. He was friendly and patient though. We again requested the bread that never came prior. They were somewhat busy as it was happy hour so we waited a bit. We just chatted and caught up. After a while we once again requested bread as it still hadn't been brought to us. Third time was a charm and we were finally brought bread. The bread was the highlight of the meal. Served warm, it is soft inside and crunchy out side with a soft butter accompaniment. Shortly thereafter, our food arrived except for one of our parties orders. Two people ordered firecracker shrimp and they were cold upon arrival. One decided to send it back. Sadly my scallops were so rubbery that the provided fork and spoon could barely cut through it. I hate sending food back so I ate it but it was pretty bad. The missing order arrived and it was supposed to be blackened fish tacos. The ratio of cabbage and salsa on top to the small amount of fish in the taco was disappointing, as was the lack of seasoning. Also, we would have liked more water but it was never offered and we didn't see the server until we waved him down for the check. I've tried a lot of items on their menu over the years but the lack of quality and consistency I experienced this night may have me rethinking that choice, unfortunately.

Husband and I shared a cup of clam chowder. Husband had scallops, baked potato and zucchini. I got the grilled Chilean sea bass with baked potato and Mac n cheese and the little had grilled cheese. Hubby and I each had a nice cold Stella Artois. And then we all shared the butter cake dessert. Everything was delicious. I do wish all the meals were a bit warmer but they were still good. Our waitress was very attentive and even offered to bring us a new kids menu to bring home. If we lived closer we would definitely return. The ambience was great, the hostess was courteous, and although it was pretty busy we were seated fairly quickly. I liked the stylish decor and overall vibe of the restaurant and everything was pretty clean. There was some bench seating in the waiting area as well as some cushioned seats on the back of the bar area which we chose to wait at. The restaurant seating area was expansive and it also included some patio seating. We ordered some drinks and crabcakes, received some bread and water and waited for a bit until our waitress came back for our dinner order. We ordered the B.C. grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach and the Macadamia crusted Halibut with rainbow carrots and grilled asparagus. Our dinner arrived before we even got our crabcakes and after a long while I had to flag a different waiter to mentioned our missing item. A bit latter the waitress came back stating the crabcakes order didn't make it in and she was going to put a rush order in. At this point I was getting a little frustrated at the lack of attentiveness. As I started to enjoy my meal I noticed my grilled Salmon was undercooked and had to wait again to get it rectified. They remade an entire new order and I ended up bringing half of it home. The shift manager stopped by to apologize and made sure my meal was taken off the check. It was nice that we didn't have to ask. Overall, the experience was overshadowed by the delays and lack of attentiveness by our waitress, but this place definitely has potential to provide a great experience and I would gladly give it another chance.

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. Overall, great meal and I thought the meal was decent value. Expected to come back and try more menu items.

Walk-ins usually end up sitting at the communal high top tables. It isn't too bad but a tiny bit uncomfortable for people on the shorter side (like me). The ambiance is fine glamping style so you do want to be just a teeny bit dressed up. Dressing as if you were camping won't quite work in this restaurant. The servers are nice enough but the place is quite loud so you really have to yell to hear each other. My friend and I ordered a bunch of things to share. We got the tomato, the carrot, the broccoli, and the pork belly. I ordered one of their newer ciders but it tasted more like beer than a cider. Among the shareables, the broccoli (which is the most popular) was actually our least favorite. My friend's top choice was the tomato and mine was a very very close tie between the carrot and the pork belly. Those three dishes were unique, absolutely delicious, very different from each other and had a medley of different flavors. The broccoli unfortunately was too oily and felt heavy and single flavor dominant. It wasn't bad but I can't quite see why people aren't about the other clearly superior dishes. We didn't get dessert here because it didn't speak to us. Pricing wise, it is on the pricier side. I guess that is expected for Carlsbad and given who owns this restaurant. Parking is in the public parking lot behind the restaurant.
