So, this one was a real doozy of a visit. The drinks were fair, with our order being a Goose Island…read moreIPA, Long Island iced tea, and a pomegranate martini. The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

Follow me @theblackgirlatleisure on all socials for more reviews…read more Cocktails/Drinks: 8/10 I've visited Ranch Caribbean Vybez two times within the last month or so. Their drink menu is creative and includes some of your favorite wines, spirits/classic cocktails. I've ordered/Tasted: The No Woman No Cry Two different Chardonnays (don't remember the names) Mojito Extra Dirty Gin Martini (wasn't my favorite, it tasted like maybe there was vermouth missing from it or there wasn't enough. Still pretty good though.) Each of these drinks were really good! My favorite was the No Woman No Cry, it tasted really tropical. A nicely balanced cocktail that wasn't too sweet! Food: 10/10 The food has come out hot, fresh and delicious each time I visited. I've had: Coconut Shrimp (crispy, really nice crunch, nice amount of coconut) Lamb Tacos (these were made with curry which was something new for me, loved it!) Jerk Ribs (these were SO good! Tender and seasoned to perfection) Mozzarella Sticks () Service: 9/10 I've gone during a slower evening and during one where it was more packed. The first night I was seated immediately at the bar and was taken care of very quickly. The feeling that I got was very pleasant and welcoming. I know this was a courtesy, but my gf and I were able to stay a little past closing (don't expect this when you visit, I just wanted to share to let you all know how kind they were!) The second time I visited it was more busy because they were hosting an event. At this time food took longer to come out. Other than that, the servers did the best they could. Ambiance: 10/10 The ambiance here gives really fun girls night, good music, after work drinks, and a perfect place to have a yap session or even just a chill dinner in a beautiful place with friends. I love how welcoming the staff makes everyone feel and how they check on the tables just enough (and not when you're mid bite ). The Bronx needs more places like this! Overall: 9.25/10 I'll definitely be coming back to hangout with my girlfriends. I think this spot is so cute, the food and drinks are high quality and it's just overall really good VYBEZ (wink). Definitely come here during the week. Their happy hour menu feels ILLEGAL because the prices are so good and the food is even better.

It's typically pretty empty on the dine-in side during the week, but it's jumping more Friday/ Saturday. I stopped in for happy hour yesterday evening and had the shrimp skewers with a mango margarita. My shrimp was fresh and flavorful and my margarita was cool. I'm here often, so I'll be back.

I had my mind set on ordering…read morenonfortified red sangria, but discovered they only have brandy or other liquor infused sangria they make in small batches. You cannot order a fresh carafe or pitcher of sangria with the fruit in it here, which is what I was expecting from a place headlining sangria. So your experience of the Sangria Cafe for sangria will come down to whether you like yours fortified. I like my sangria freshly made to order with just the wine and chopped fruit, but you may have a better experience at Sangria Cafe if you prefer fortified sangria. So the Manager, Elios, was superb. He told me he would let me taste the red, white and lychee versions to see which one I preferred. Given they are all fortified to an extent, I chose to order margaritas. I prefer mezcal margaritas, but they did not have mezcal at the time. So I went with the tequila classic. It was good and I had it to go for my evening at a cigar lounge. I also ordered food to go: the French cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and the braised beef short rib with small potatoes and broccoli. Here's a twist: the food was better than the adult beverage at a place emphasizing the latter. At all times, my server, Hector, was superb in his own right. Service is probably the strong suit at Sangria Cafe, followed by the food. The French cut pork chops taste like they have been marinated or at least brined. You will eat these down to the bone and you will pick up those bones to clean them. The garlic mashed potatoes were great too, but the asparagus was a bit overcooked. On balance, this $30 dish was satisfying and would have been better had they included a little gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The beef short rib at $38 was even tastier. I appreciate the chef took the time to get a good cut of short rib and trimmed the excess fat down to a leaner cut. The meat is inherently marbled with fat, so the flavor is already going to be as present as the savory tenderness. If you dine at a restaurant where there is excess fat on the beef short rib, know the chef there is not putting in the work to trim all that fat. Coudos to the chefs in the Sangria Cafe kitchen for their trimming work. This is even better than the pork chops and you'll savor every bite. The broccoli was overcooked here, so the chefs could restrain themselves on the cooking time for the veggies. The small potatoes were perfect and what is not to like about marbled beef and potatoes. Here they have a little gravy with cooked onions to add to the savory pleasure. The Sangria Cafe is a great place to come with friends. This place will see lots of action as the weather warms. The atmosphere is upbeat and the music is in full swing. This is a Latino and Afro Latino crowd. The kitchen and service are very good here. Perhaps I'm in the minority preferring nonfortified sangria, but I wish that were an option with the chopped fruit in it. Perhaps the majority prefers the fortified hit, but it would be nice to have it more relaxed with just the wine as summer approaches or at any time of the year. Please keep the mezcal in stock as SOP for the mezcal margs. Thanks to Elios, Hector and the chefs in the kitchen. 3.5 stars.

We pull up, walk in and just stand for a bit as there isn't a hostess stand or hostess. The gentleman behind the bar then greats us and states we can't sit anywhere. After sitting for about 5mins my BF asks me if there's a QR code to scan because we still didn't have menus. I ask the same gentleman if there's a brunch menu and he then brings over menus. There isn't a brunch menu nor are bottomless mimosas offered. Even though what we were looking for wasn't available we decided to stay. The gentleman behind the bar was doing everything besides cooking LOL. He took our orders, served the food and made our drinks. A waitress didn't arrive until we were closing out our check. For apps we had beef empanadas and broiled clams. The clams were amazing!!! The sauce was amazing!!! For my meal I had the round steak w/ onions and my BF had the twin porkchops. The porkchops were some of the smallest I've ever seen to the point it didn't look like it was actually two. The porkchops were flavorful but he was still hungry after finishing the plate. I also had a whiskey sour which without a doubt was the BEST whiskey sour I've ever had. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice. With additional staff I think the experience would've been smoother.
