My friends and I are huge First Watch customers. We go to the one by our college, our home towns and basically every time we see one. But this first watch in union... i feel terrible for the workers today there... except our server Kyla. I truly hope Kyla's aux cord breaks today, stubs her toe, freaking whatever gives her karma. We understood the kitchen was behind, even though nobody told us we had to ask the hosts, which were wonderful people. Kyla took our order and didn't come to our table for a whole 46 minutes. We sat directly in front of the kitchen, literally looking at her in the eyes as we are sitting there we empty glasses. We were so thirsty my friend had to spit in the cup for my other friend to drink some type of liquid. We asked so many workers that walked past us to tell our server, since we were in eye view of kyla we saw them tell her. Did she come to our table you ask. No she didn't. Like okay???? We get the meal from someone else and no napkins. My poor friend had avacado up to her elbows the poor elderly couple next to us.... ready for this... ripped up a piece of their napkin to lend her. I actually feel like i was suffering my life at this point. I eventually had to walk into the kitchen and ask someone if i can have a napkin and the kid responds "yeah go for it". Alright so i went for it... my friends should've tipped me at that point. We finally got our check after i attempted to eat my cold french toast. We even talked to people who were waiting a half hour for a table and they were convinced to leave right then and there. The finishing best ending to this painful experience was my conversation with the nice host. "Are you friends with kyla" - me "yea but i haven't seen here in a while" -host ......."yeah me either"- me. read more

First Watch was one of my favorite spots when we lived in Florida, so we were excited to learn there was a location in Union. When we came, there was no wait and the inside was fresh and nice looking. We waited at our table for about ten minutes before a hostess and what seemed like two trainees came to our table and said that our server was on the phone taking an order, so they'd get our drink order instead. Ten minutes after drinks arrived, we saw everyone else getting served but us, so we approached the same woman to ask if we could have a new server. She took our order instead. While we waited for our food, our server finally came up to us apologizing that she was stuck on the phone-- the funny part is that we saw her working on other tables the entire time! When we finally got our food, my husband's order was incorrect, and both of our eggs Benedict were over cooked (no runny egg), and the potatoes were undercooked and tasteless. Really disappointed and won't be returning. read more

The Union location is the worst breakfast spot I have EVER been to. The service is literally TERRIBLE. I brought my parents here for breakfast today. Our server had an attitude the entire time and never came back to our table. I had to ask 3 different servers whenever we needed something. I ordered another iced coffee from a different server bc our server was no where to be found. The server that brought the iced coffee also brought our check in the middle of us eating. Meanwhile we were maybe halfway done eating. When I asked why our server wasn't coming and why she didn't bring the check I was told oh she's busy making drinks and asked me to do it for her. Meanwhile we're seeing our server happy smiling with her other tables and having an attitude with us and not servicing us. I couldn't believe how terrible this service was. She would have gotten a HUGE tip from me if she would've known how to do her job properly. I even had to get up and go to the kitchen to request a to-go container myself. I highly do NOT recommend this establishment if you want great service and a good time. Also if you get the girl with the country or southern accent as your server I highly recommend requesting someone else. read more

I've been to this place a few times and each time there is something wrong with our order. But this time we waited over 15 minutes for a server, took awhile to get a cup of coffee and a glass of water, took over 45 minutes to get our order and they did not make my order with any of the stuff it was suppose to have in it and the wrong type of bacon. The manager was nice enough to remake my order but what has me writing this review is because we did not see our waiter once and when I asked for the check she gave it to us with an attitude. After spending almost 2 hours in there I should be more upset than she was today and I hope the gentleman who was hosting gets the tip because he did all of the work. read more

Terrible service and ditzy workers . Came in for a Togo order . I was told 15 mins . I went to go and ran some errands . Came back 30 mins later and the order is still not ready. I had asked the ditzy waitress and she didn't know either or lied about it, which I gather is the lather. Now 45 mins later I had to ask where it is and the manager said there was a mix up and the Uber driver took my order. Why didn't anybody tell me this 15 mins ago??!!! Poor organization, these young girls that work there don't know what the hell they are doing? They were blaming the Uber guy but I'm pretty sure that the bag had to given to the Uber guy by a worker. read more

I have had two bad experiences here. My first was a while back when i ordered online to pick up and the order took over an hour to be ready. When i arrived i kept being told yes its almost ready several times. It was busy so i understand but dont lie to me telling me its almost done and its not. The second time was today, Saturday, decided to eat in. The place wasn't busy, several open tables. They sat us down pretty quick but took about 5 mins for someone to come take our drink order. After we ordered coffee it took almost 10 mins for someone to bring our coffee and only bc we asked two people about it. At the point 3 other families arrived after us and were served a lot quicker. 30mins pass, 35, 40 mins and our food is nowhere in site. Yet the 3 other families that came well after us received all their food. Our waitress never came to us to let us know anything, she wasnt even the one to bring our coffee. We got up and left. It's ridiculous to neglect customers. Will never come back to this place. Sucks bc the food from here is actually good. Service is horrible tho! read more

First off it's overpriced for the amount of food that you get. I walked in today they have a table specific for singles. They decided to give it to a party of six. They're very slow at the register. Locating your waiter is also a problem. I've been here five or six times and I have to say first watch is not not doing a very good job. Love this spot and the food. But the service sucks. This is my second day in a row coming here and again I am extremely disappointed. The location is conveniently located right next to the gym I attend. So I thought it would be a great spot to eat something healthy and break my fast. The service needs work. I waited 25 minutes for my food to come out. (People who stand down way after me had their food first) And part of my order was never placed. I not once had a server ask to refill my water. But she did make sure to bring me my check 10 minutes into my meal while I was eating. I hate being that person. But I just don't understand. It wasn't a busy day and they have plenty of servers and cooks. I don't get it. The day before the server didn't even know what came on a waffle. And when the waffle was served to a friend it was missing ingredients that came with it. Idk. The food is good though. read more

when this place first opened I thought I'd give it a try because it's really nice inside and I like to give local businesses my support. There were only a few customers or tables in this place so it wasn't busy, a server did not show up at our table for 15 minutes. Then we order juice and coffee with our meal the coffee came without the juice, then we waited, food finally arrived 30 minutes after we got there. absolutely no excuse for how slow it was we didn't order anything exotic. second time we tried it I thought we'd give it a chance again figuring they were just having a rough day, same scenario only few tables with customers and waiters who acted like they didn't even work there and we're just doing you a favor passing by the table to say hello. One fellow did help us out after we complained about waiting so long he kind of got it together and got our food to us. I think the menu is over done way too many things on there that come on your plate that you don't need for instance when I order a breakfast meal I don't want salad but it comes with it so it's a waste of money. It's not a simple egg and bacon kind of place, it's a little flashier on the food end of it, I think they just try too hard to be too many things to too many people on their menu, and maybe that's why it takes so long to get the food. So, service is slow, food is good, but not so good to make me wait 30 to 40 minutes for my meal when I'm hungry. And then you have to find somebody to give you the check. . I'm only giving 2 stars for the pancakes which were absolutely delicious. But everything else, even simple dishes like over easy eggs, were absolutely terrible. I didn't think it was possible to mess up 2 over easy eggs! Cut them open & they didn't even pop (too well done) then they made them again & they were undercooked! since we were sitting in the back, I could even hear the chef giving the server a hard time when she asked him to make the eggs again. Got charged for an extra side of toast that never came. All in all, way overpriced for bad breakfast food and bad service! Urban griddle in Elizabeth is a much better choice, beats this place any day of the week! read more

Food is great, but the way they seat customers is a little odd not that organized. I watched a table being cleaned off and it took 20min for 1 table to be cleaned and it seemed like one person would come by take the cups then a whole other person would come and take the plates then a third person came and cleaned the table. Then they had 6 open tables and the line to get seated was out the door. It just wasn't organized.. Food was awesome I would most likely be coming back only in week days. read more

Place is beautifully built . Very spacious . Went with a party of 3 @ 10:00 am , they ran out of pancake batter ! Wait time to get our breakfast was 35 minutes ! Food was tasty but expensive and not a lot of food for the $$.... the waitress told us they were short staffed & there dishwasher was full that was the hold up ... not a fan of seeing dirty dishes on tables while employees are standing around & I am trying to relax & eat ... hopefully you straighten out the kinks ! read more

This is my second time at this establishment and things had not improved much. Food is good but service is still inattentive. Five of us went for brunch this past Sunday. I used the Waitlist function on Yelp and it worked really well. We checked in with the hostess and only had to wait about 10 minutes. Then it was pretty much downhill. The table we were given were not cleaned, there were 2 dirty glasses and 1 mug left on the table. We had to flag someone to clean the table and the bench. He also had to sweep the floor because there were a lot of food particles under the table. For some reason, the cleaned glasses the server brought out had small white residues on them & one of the mugs still had a coffee spot on its mouth. We had to get the server's attention to get new glasses & mugs. She never checked on us after our entrees were brought out & one of our orders was prepared incorrectly. I'm not sure if I will give this First Watch another try unless the management steps up with its training of the workers. read more

Pretty wow. Father's Day and only opened since Monday but I think they did a great job. Our waiter was clearly new but very attentive and took time to come back and update us on the status of our food. It was a long wait but you can use their app or waitlist to skip part of the line. My family and I have been to First Watch many times and the service and food is always good. But today's service was not. After waiting an Extremely long time. My food came out but my husband and daughters food didn't come out for another 25mins later. Then my husband food was cold. It just seemed that First Watch wasn't running at their best today. But manager Guy really helped the situation by adjusting our bill for the inconvenience. He was understanding and agreed things could have gone better. Thanks Guy!! We appreciate your service. We were so disappointed with this location. We have been to the Florida locations and loved First Watch. The service here was terrible. We sat for 15 minutes at a table before anyone approached us. Our server clearly was overwhelmed. We got most of our food 55 minutes after sitting down, and the toast came 10 minutes later. Numerous tables were seated after us, and finished their meals before we even got our food. Our server apologized, but we were never offered anything for the exorbitant wait times. We will never return to this location; we will wait till our next Florida trip. read more

I was excited to try this place, I am a foodie. The service is awful, you can see the staff lack experience, we had about 3 different servers. They staff is not polite and my daughter's omelette was cold and the mushrooms and sausage were not cooked into the omelette, it was just place into the egg like an after thought. The staff does not match the ambience and the 2 bus people were looking lost as if they needed to be told what to do, constantly going to the manager who was at the register for guidance. New management and staff needed or they will be close soon. I will not return. read more

Food order was wrong sent it back. 15 minutes later it never came back and we were 1 of 3 tables seated in the place and the only thing wrong was the way the eggs were cooked. Had to cancel the order since the rest of my table was well beyond done eating. Lots of attitude from some servers while others were great. Forcrs you to leave a poor tip since you have no idea who it goes too. Also got the check before everyone got all their food and drinks? This place needs to get it together. My boyfriend told me their food is amazing so we stopped here this morning. Ok so for social distancing they get 5 stars but the service is really really bad here. No one was at the front to greet you which automatically annoyed me. Once we were seated and took a look at their menu I was super excited and couldn't wait to taste it. I ordered a decaf coffee. Ok that was an automatic no no. Extremely weak and immediately I wanted McDonalds coffee or any coffee at that point. I told the waitress it was bad and she said she noticed lately its really weak also. That's never a good thing! She also gave us sugar in a bowl that had water in the bottom of it so all the sugar was soggy. The food took FOREVER to come out. The place was not full at all so we sat there wondering what could possibly be taking so long. The waitress was also not attentive at all. Fast forward to the meals. Ok the food came out and we couldn't wait to dig in (I ordered the carrot/pecan pancakes plus a turkey omelet). Where was the utensils? No where in sight and neither was the waitress. Finally got the utensils and yes the food was delicious and very tasty. I had to request salt as there was none at the table. All in all I probably would come back because the food was really good but management really needs to have a conversation with its staff on how to achieve good customer service.
