This place is not run efficiently! We "got in line" to secure our spot for a table, checked in when we arrived and watched others who arrived after us be seated. After 25 minutes of this (we were told our wait would be 16-25 minutes), we questioned the manager who was rude, arrogant and dismissive. I hadn't realized this restaurant had opened up at the strip mall in Montvale but I plan on making this a regular spot to eat at. We ate outdoors where they had a cute patio area. I got the morning meditation drink, which had orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger and beet in it and it was amazing! I added the wellness shot to it to feel extra healthy. We were expecting the million dollar bacon to be the extra thick cut kind, but it still tasted great! For my meal, I got the barbacoa breakfast tacos without cheese or chive cream. I asked to substitute the chive cream for chives since I saw those elsewhere on the menu, and got scallions instead, but that was alright. Our server was very attentive and kind as well! read more

I used to like coming here with my friends because the table receipt breaks down what each person ordered (seat 1 $x, seat 2 $y, etc) and they make it easy to go to the cashier and pay for your "seat". This is where it gets interesting. The screen shows the different amounts you wish to tip and I always hit 20% and off I go. This last time I did the same, but I asked for the receipt. Once I got home I saw the receipt and realized they calculate the 20% tip based on the TABLE total. This was a table of 2, so our combined tip amounted to nearly 40%. I went back to my old cc statements for the times I went with a group of 6 or 7 people (because I never looked at my statements very carefully, duh) , and realized that those times I paid more than 100% in tips (my avg check is $24, those times my total shows $54!). Enjoyed the first visit, but not so much the second. We're were seated at a table that had what looked like dried syrup stuck to the surface. The table didn't look like it was cleaned well from the last people who ate there. We also had to wipe a lot of food off the boot seat which most likely had a messy child there previously. I got the sausage, biscuits and gravy this time and there was barely any gravy to go with it. Went 2 weeks ago and it did not disappoint. I've been wanting to visit for awhile but haven't gotten a chance to until now. They have a pretty good variety of options and the one thing I appreciated was the online menu where you can swap out different things in the dish. It'll tell you the nutritional facts, which is great especially for those that are tracking. You can also reserve a spot on the waiting list through their website and it'll tell you the wait time and give you an estimate on when you'll be seated. I arrived just about when the estimated seating time would be, went up to the hostess, but was told I had to wait another 30-45 minutes. The time definitely went quickly. When seated, they had a few cups on the table which were dirty so we asked for new cups when we ordered coffee and they happily exchanged them out. I didn't order any, but they had amazing looking drinks available that a couple of other tables were ordering. My table ordered 2 smoked salmon benedict, an inspired italian omelet w/ only egg whites, the works omelet, a monterey club with the market vegetable soup. Inspired Italian omelet The egg whites were probably a little burned, but still very tasty. Loved the simple side salad with the light dressing, which was a nice complement to the omelet. The salsa was nice and fresh as well. I would've loved more sausages though.. Monterey Club I thought this had a little too much mayo in it, but otherwise so very good. So good!!! Amazing drinks, yummy food, and good vibes. I don't normally go for or like breakfast wraps but the Chickichanga was firee and something totally different. We also really liked both of the skillet dishes and the million dollar bacon! The drinks were also so fresh tasting and very unique - definitely worth a try. I've never been to First Watch and my girlfriend suggested we try it, and I'm really happy we did. The food was really delicious and the service was great. Our server Arlyn was so warm and friendly. Our whole time there, Arlyn would check in on us frequently and we would chit chat about things every time she did. We even talked about our cats. She was very personable and made the whole experience that much better. This will definitely be my new go-to place for brunches. Really loved the food and the atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new place to try. Hopefully you are lucky and you will come in when Arlyn is working. She really took care of us and it was a delight talking to her. Arrived around 10:05-ish am. There are few customers eating, but not busy at all. Slow service. Food presentation looks nice. Food's so-so; burned potatoes underneath my eggs & very salty! My sister Lily made the reservation yesterday, Sunday for around 12 noon. The experience my family and I had at First Watch was absolutely horrible! The food came cold and was omelet was tasteless! The toast was hard and cold. My brother's chicken was awful and tasteless. The pico de gallo was stale. The service was very poor! We waited a very long time to be served. Our server took our order and when our food came, easily 45 minutes later, she dropped off the food, and Never came back to ask my table how the food was or can I get you something else! Had breakfast here for the first time this morning and I was very very impressed. I had the Frittata Rustica which I thought was excellent. My mom had the blueberry pancake which she enjoyed very much and my uncle, an extremely picky eater had scrambled eggs and bacon. Mom and I thought ours was delicious and would return again in a heartbeat. My uncle was less impressed ( he is very fussy and has some peculiar eating habits) as they only offer sourdough toast which was not to his liking (he would have preferred toasted Wonder Bread) and they only offer 2 percent milk and Sugar In The Raw (he wanted whole milk and white sugar). My wife & I went on Sunday morning without the kids ... Rare for us. There was a line. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. It went quickly & we were seated. The menu ranges from healthy hearty breakfasts to what sounds like healthy diner food. I got the Traditional- eggs, toast & sausage on the healthy side.my wife got an omelette. We sat right by the kitchen & it was busy. Our food came out ... My eggs were Luke warm. Toast was good, sausage too. My wife enjoyed her omelette. The service was pretty good ... We came on a Saturday to celebrate our friends birthday. We read on yelp that this restaurant was BYOB (but it is not!). We waited 30 minutes with bottles in our hands without anyone letting us know. We asked about our table and the hostess admitted she forgot about us. We were seated and our waitress threw the menus on the table. She came back and said "Just so you know we can't open the bottles here". Confused we asked.. "so can we?" She said no and we said "is it BYOB or not?" She could have easily started with "we are not BYOB". She said they do not carry non dairy milks also. The "fresh pressed juices' were extremely sugary. We asked about the wellness shot and if it can be ordered on its own. It was brought in a Styrofoam cup and IT WAS LEGIT JUST SYRUP. If we knew it was syrup we wouldn't have ordered it. My friend ordered tea and was given hot water in a coffee pot  The water was brown. She asked for a cup of hot water from the hot water dispenser. Without saying anything, server rudely dropped the the same coffee pot of hot water, this time less brown. She sent it back again because who wants to drink coffee-residue water? The lid of the pot cannot be removed so how can it properly be cleaned? At that point we let the manager know our server's demeanor was ruining my friends birthday and politely asked for a different server. The server that took over was an absolute sweetheart. She was so nice and accommodating, even brought us HER OWN soymilk. What happened next was not her fault. We ordered benedicts and pancakes- they came after 40 minutes of us ordering. The potatoes were raw, cold, bland, and hard. The pancakes were cold and dry. They also had strawberries instead of the blueberries that were supposed to be on them. We weren't informed of any substitutions but luckily we didn't have allergies. Something that should always be considered.. The bacon was ordered well done was undercooked and cold. Held my hand over my food when it came and it was also cold. I ordered over medium eggs and my whites weren't even cooked- egg whites leaking into the salad..disgusting. I sent it back immediately upon it hitting the table when I cut into it with server still present. We watched two other tables in the restaurant send food back. One patrons food was remade twice.  I ended up not eating anything because my friends had to get to work and we couldn't wait another hour for food.. When the bill came 50% was comped but my crab cake benedict was still on the bill even though NOT ONE BITE was taken. I sent it back when I cut into the raw whites at the table . After we brought this up it was taken off. We are restaurant managers and chefs, but our expectations are not high. The only things a restaurant needs to be successful is polite service and food cooked to desired temperatures at the bare minimum. We would never come back because the food was absolutely horrendous. Even if a restaurant understaffed for BOH, it makes more sense to take your time cooking a dish on the line rather than rushing, sending out undercooked food, having it sent back, and having double entrees to make when you only have 6 tickets on the board. Yes we watched the tickets move on the board as we waited for our food for almost 1 hour. The GM was the one on the line putting out food. Overall, would never return. You'd find better service and food at the Saddle River Cafe down the road. At least your eggs will be cooked properly. read more
