The essential value of a restaurant is simple: get the orders correct, deliver the food to the table hot. First Watch failed on both counts, not for one diner but for all three. The lady of the group ordered eggs benedict which were served cold and quite congealed. One of the gentlemen ordered his eggs sunny side up. Instead, they were over easy. The Second Gentleman had ordered the soup and half sandwich combo, and instead received the soup and whole sandwich, which wasn't the special. This tells us several things. First, the server was disorganized and did not correctly capture any of the orders. Second, it takes us that if the orders were captured correctly, the kitchen messed up. But third, even if the orders were incorrect and the kitchen made them wrong, the server failed to check the orders before bringing them to the diners. There's absolutely no excuse for serving cold food. There's even less excuse for getting all the orders wrong. This is table stakes in any restaurant. read more

First Watch is definitely worth passing by. First thoughts upon walking in was the generic decor and atmosphere was comparable to 1980's welfare labels. The seating was cramped as well as overcrowded. Service 100% needs proper training or re-training, also the entire staff needs a review of basic etiquette on casual dining. My meal was bland. The French toast I order was basically 2 slices of stale dry bread with little to no taste or egg wash. My wife's million dollar potatoes were undercooked. I'll leave it at that. First, the good. If you are waiting to be seated, there is a nice coffee station where you can help yourself. The coffee was good. My daughter and I ordered non-alcoholic specialty drinks; mine was called something meditation which was a healthy drink with turmeric, beet juice, and other things. it was delicious. My daughter ordered a lavender lemonade which was simply lovely. For food, I ordered a trifecta which consisted of two eggs, pork sausage links, and a Belgium waffle with berries. Somehow, they keep the syrup warm. everything was delicious. My daughter order a dish with biscuits, turkey gravy, eggs w cheese, and potatoes. She said it was very good. We ended up sitting at the counter and our server was absolutely perfect. As we entered, there were quite a few people ahead of us. The front desk people made no particular effort to let us put our name in as it was confusing because so many people were sitting or standing around . Finally, we got our name in and were told it would be about 25 minutes. We were ok with that. But after a good amount of time, many people that came in after us were seated before us. I asked if our name was still in the queue only to find out that you can put your name in online before you get there which apparently everyone else was doing. It was our first time so we didn't know. We ended up sitting at the counter which was perfectly fine. Even the server was surprised that we hadn't been seated since we approached the counter earlier. The reason we went to the First Watch was that I had received a gift card. Surprise, surprise! With no advance warning, their gift card reader was not workin. OK...sounds like a YOU problem but it became a Problem for me. I really hadn't wanted to put this expense on my credit card but I was forced into that position. The cashier was very apologetic, I didn't blame her of course, but since they knew this, don't you think they couldve put a sign on the entrance? I suggested that and they said they would do that...at around 1:00. They close at 2:30. All in all, the food and drinks were delicious. The wait staff service was excellent. But they don't quite have it all together yet. Since I still have that gift card, I'll be back, but only to use the gift card, probably. I live in the area so I'll go back before beach season starts because they will be deluged with people when beach season starts. And now that Im reading other reviews, many address the online check in. I really do not favor that...I stopped going to a certain place because of it. To each his own. read more

So excited to have these guys in the area. This is a solid breakfast spot with lots of great options and reasonable pricing. The trick is to make a reservation on their website so that you don't encounter an insane wait. We did this and got sat right away. Staff was friendly and helpful but the food did take long time to come out and our pancake came out before all our actual food. Everything tasted great but I didn't love my hash. It sort of just felt like an insane amount of potatoes and a few burned onions although it was supposed to have much more in there. Will be back but will prob stay away from the hash. read more

Can't say enough about the ability to get in line using their online waitlist. We got in line 30 minutes ahead of our arrival when the wait time was listed at 30-45 minutes. We were seated one minute after we arrived, while the lobby was full of people waiting. Now to the food--everything we ordered was delicious and served hot! The pancake was light and fluffy. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Seeing this place just opened a couple weeks ago, they are already on point with other First Watch restaurants I've been to. read more

Had a great experience here! The ambiance is great, it was super cozy and had farm like decor. The service was great. We had coffee and mimosas to start. Then we shared biscuits and gravy which was super delicious, I liked the bit of spice in it. For my meal, I had the ham and Gruyère melt half sandwich and the broccoli and cheddar soup. First the very good-- parking is plentiful even when busy. There is an option to pour yourself a coffee if you have to wait to be seated, but as we entered the host asked how many and walked us immediately to table. Waiter arrived immediately and answered questions and returned with coffee. Food arrived in very reasonable timeframe--- Now the Meh BUT toast was cold and hard, and potatoes were undercooked (not fork tender). Both egg dishes were just fine-- no complaints. Guess I would say that atmosphere is good and they even have a bar! I spent 10 minutes unsuccessfully trying to get the table to stop wobbling, however, before the food came. So I guess it was clean and fine in a pinch on the way in or out of rehoboth, but disappointing. read more

I tried this First Watch in Lewes, DE, for the first time today. I had tried another First Watch in Gaithersburg, MD, some time ago, and that one was really good. Although I ordered something completely different last time (Avocado Toast with eggs). This time I tried the Tri-Fecta, which was two eggs any way, breakfast meat (I got the ham), and either a pancake or waffle. I also got a side of their multi-grain toast. I probably should've gotten the waffle as the pancake was a little overly done on its surface, but also a little too fluffy, meaning it was way too flaky and didn't hold together very well. Taste wise it was just ok. My waitstaff was very nice and apologized for the wait. Which, by the way, was kind of surprising given that I went pretty early and they were not that busy. On their check-in site, it said that the wait was about five minutes. I will say that by the time I was finished the place was starting to fill up and they were getting a line. So it may be contingent upon when you go. But they will probably need to bump up their staff once summer hits because it was not as quick as I experienced at the other First Watch I went to. Overall, though, not bad. It's reasonable, and the place is very clean. The food was decent so I would probably give them another shot. read more

My first visit came last Friday with a friend who had not visited previously. The venue itself was well lit and open. The staff, especially our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered a traditional breakfast of two eggs, sausage, home fries and sourdough toast. The food was lukewarm at best. I could not detect any hint of sourdough in the toast. Everyone is all a-twitter about this place. I was not impressed. There was no heat in the building so everyone was bundled up in winter coats hats and gloves. The food took a long time to be served and it had obviously spent time under the warmer as my eggs were lukewarm, toast cold and hash tepid. The server was polite. I was out running errands and decided to place an order online for pick up on my way home. I was surprised when I pulled into the parking lot how full the place was considering it had just opened at this location (and the fact that it was in between meal time). I walked into a line of people waiting to be seated, but everybody seemed happy and I realized why, the service was pretty quick. I got the salmon frittata and a side of grits for tomorrow (since they were Bob's Redmill and they're not the usual instant ones that I make). In spite of being packed, my order was ready within 15 minutes me placing it. When I got home, expecting typical chain breakfast takeout I was completely taken back by what I received. I may watch too much Gordon Ramsay, but the shallots and sun-dried tomatoes were all perfectly evenly sliced, so even after cutting up my frittata, I was getting balanced in each bite. A nice amount of wild salmon was in there too. I love that there's an option to come with a light greens salad tossed with lemon. Instead, I decided to 'reward' myself and got the side of potatoes instead. Such a great idea. However, the portion size was more than one would expect and there was no way I could've finished them all with my meal so looking forward to those tomorrow. The side of grits instead of being one of those little quarter cup scoops of a side that you get at most places, looks to be almost a full cup of grits. It was a pretty big bowl. Looking forward to those tomorrow as well. While I didn't love the service charge and the automatic tip plus the charge for the bag being it was reasonable, (less than $3) and overall, this was a great value for a meal, which is going to partially run into another meal. (seriously though if I had dined in and didn't finish my meal, would I've been charged for the bag and to go container?). And how can I forget... from the girl who greeted me at the door to the cashier to the maître D, every staff member I ran into in spite of being super busy we're wonderfully friendly.
