First Watch is really always delicious BUT this visit left me wanting! My Quinoa power bowl was kind of sparse and my egg over medium(solid white and yolk) was more like an egg pancake, over cooked and chewy! Disappointing. The Cobb salad was especially bad! Missing ingredients and like 1 1/2 thin slice of turkey! It was just bad. It was a pick up order so ambiance and service aren't really applicable. But the order was ready on time. Beware! Kitchen cannot handle holiday (Mothes Day 2026) crowds. First time here (Lee's Summit). Wait an hour past our wait list check-in. Some people had waited 2-hrs before they left. Waited an additional hour+ after we ordered our food before it arrived. Food only ok, was not worth the long wait, I've had much better from Ginger Sue's and Corner Cafe! There is an inside as well as an outside dining area and this restaurant is so popular that I recommend making a reservation or getting on the waitlist, because it always seems to be packed! We saw First Watch next to our bank. Never heard of it. But man, we've been missing out. They have been there for 4 years! Geez. I guess we were sleeping. Our server (who never introduced herself) recommended the Carnitas Breakfast Quesadilla to me. She said she loved it. I had asked about something else and she steered me toward this thing. It was on the summer menu and it was danged fantastic!! The black beans that came with it were a little plain, so I added some Cholula and kicked them up to nice. The roasted corn and jalapeño crema on the quesadilla were a super nice touch. These folks are good! My wife ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 thing. She got a ham and gruyere sandwich that she loved. It was pretty small though. She ordered the 1/2 sweet pecan salad and didn't love it. She left most of it. I had a bite and it was not great. She helped me finish my quesadilla, so she didn't go hungry by only eating the tiny sandwich. Our server was pretty busy, so we can excuse our drinks running dry a couple of times. We'll be back. Just had my first pumpkin-flavored item of the season--a pumpkin pancake breakfast with a side of the new million-dollar potatoes--and both were absolutely delicious! The iced coffee is my go to every time I come here and I'm not much of a coffee drinker! The service was great too. We took so long to go through all of the great sounding options that she had to come back 3 times and was not annoyed--very cheerful. Our son lives here and eats here often---he always gets a bloody mary, million $ bacon to share and a Bacado omelet---all items get a 5* (the bloody mary is a bit spicy). My SO got a Florentine bene and is still raving about the Hollandaise sauce-perfect consistency and super lemony--eggs poached just right. My maple bacon croissant was delicious--a round croissant-how cool. The maple bacon/jalapeño combo of sweet/spicy was tasty and not overpowering. The continued downfall of First Watch in Lee's Summit A while back it was announced that First Watch corporate has purchased the previous franchise location in Lee's Summit. I have been a regular customer there for quite a while. When the franchise owned this location, the food was great, the location was extremely clean and efficient and most of the employees were very happy there. Since the buyback, the food has really done downhill. My orders, generally a simple breakfast, have consistently been incorrect. Over hard eggs come out runny, their famous cubed potatoes are consistently luke warm at best, order crispy bacon and out comes the opposite. I was informed by a few current employees that the new ownership has now cut back the hours of long-standing, formally happy, now disgruntled servers to 4 days a week. These workers are very upset and disgruntled. It's a much longer drive now but if I want a great breakfast with happy employees, I go to the Corner Cafe in Independence. Very sad situation indeed!! read more

My Mom has celiac, and has to have gluten free options. They don't have a simple, printed list of gluten free or allergy options. Instead, you have a QR code you have to scan that takes you to a difficult to read allergy menu. It was poorly arranged, had tiny print, and wouldn't display the information in an easy to read format. Also, every time I tried to navigate the menu to figure out if an item had gluten, the menu would close, and I would have to reopen it. The server and the food itself was great. read more

Places like this I get a traditional breakfast: over easy eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. But because we were going to have breakfast for dinner that night, decided to try their lunch items. I'll go in order of best to worst! My husband had the biscuits and gravy. I had no idea turkey gravy could be that good. This will be my order next time! "Well..." (**said with mild disgust in myself for never trying First Watch until now**). The food here was delicious, the service excellent, and the vibe outstanding. This is in part because it's brand new, but also because of the upscale retail strip it's in. The menu isn't overwhelming and has a good variety of healthy and American diner flare. I'm the weirdo who walks around to see what other people are eating. It used to embarrass my wife, but I only ask if it looks great. I've been doing this for years and have yet to this day had anyone look at me strange because I asked them about their food. People are genuinely happy, for the most part excited to tell you about the dish they've ordered, especially if they like it! It's only creepy if you make it that way... I think, LOL! When I looked around today, all of what I saw looked great and everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. This is the only location I've been to and you should definitely give it a try for breakfast or lunch. I did get the "Morning Meditation" to go, which is orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar, and beat. I am a huge fan of First Watch. In fact, probably one of their biggest fans! I've never ever had an unpleasant experience at a First Watch, and even spend special occasions dining there, until dining at this Lee's Summit location. 2 adults. 2 babies. We waited 30 minutes for a table (actually no big deal, we went on a walk) but once they texted us, we had to re-tell them that we wanted patio seating only, even though we were very clear about it. We were seated on the patio. And that's when our invisibility cloaks kicked in. We sat there for about 20 minutes with no drink order. Not a single server on the patio to even flag down. Finally someone saw us and said "oh no! You have 2 babies and no drinks. Your server must have forgotten about you!" We got our drinks. But then that was it. No refills. Waited over 40 more minutes to get our food, even after asking twice about it. Our table was next to the outside waiting area. A group showed up about 30 minutes into our wait for food and a server brought her friends speciality cocktails outside of the restaurant while my babies still hadn't received their GLASS OF MILK. Never saw our actual server. Wait time to be seated (30 minutes) food (40+ minutes) and drink (20+ minutes) and my kids never once screamed or cried or had meltdowns. I don't know why we were ignored. They were absolutely, positively being wonderful kids. read more

Accidentally Went to First Watch! Originally we had planned to go to another restaurant for brunch, changed plans when we found that their patio was closed today. Plan B was the suggestion for First Watch by my son (seconded by my daughter-in-law). So back in the cars and 9 minutes later we were there. Located on Pryor Road (two doors down from one of our favorite steak houses), there is easy access from I-470 or US 50 via Chipman Road. There is a shared parking lot with plenty of spaces. The decor follows the trendy upscale urban chic model with exposed walls and modern tables. One could expect it to become pretty loud in there if they were really busy, but on a Wednesday morning it was easy to carry on a relaxed conversation without being bothered by other customers. The patio follows that same model with wicker seated chairs and "artsy" umbrellas that actually work better than normal ones. Having been to other First Watches, I was surprised at the airy feel. I do not know if it was a function of COVID-19, but there was more space between tables than others that always felt cramped to me. We were seated immediately by a hostess followed by our server. Drink orders were taken and menus offered. Their menu is what I would call "mostly trendy" but with traditional breakfast / lunch items thrown in. Earlier trips to other First Watches had left my traditional breakfast preferences wanting - again, not so here. I ordered a Traditional Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, and link sausage), my wife ordered waffles with fruit, and my son and daughter-in-law delved into the vegan offerings. We all settled for coffee (which was good) rather than bloody Mary's, knowing that we would have to drive past both the Police Headquarters and the Highway Patrol office. The meals were served promptly, all at the proper temperatures, all accurate, and with great presentation. Service was exceptional, the meals delicious, the overall "feel" relaxing, and the prices were in keeping with their slightly upscale vibe. I understand that this franchise is run by the former owner of a local "Egg & I" (which had been my favorite breakfast place in town), so I was not surprised that the whole experience was top notch! Recommendation: It appears that this First Watch has "fixed" all the "nits" that had always driven me to shun the others. Quick seating, great service, delicious food, good value. We went in on a Friday morning. There was a 10 minute wait and we were asked to wait in the car as a COVID precaution. The hostess was friendly and efficient. After about 7 minutes we were seated. The menu has some fun dishes as well as the classics. Our first time doing in-person dining at First Watch was last weekend. I am still shook over the experience. It was rough for multiple people that day, as we saw terrible service, others making complaints, some walking out. After talking to multiple friends since, this is apparently the reputation of this location. The hostess was efficient and we were sat within minutes. The server took 15 mins to come out and greet us for a drink order, but she was pleasant when we finally saw her. But that service quickly deteriorated. My kids ordered a breakfast plate (egg & bacon) and a French toast off the kids menu. I had the seasonal, harvest hash. My husband had the farmhouse hash. After we got our drinks & finished them (now 30 mins since being seated), we had to flag down a different server to get our actual server, so we could order. The table next to us on the patio, even remarked that she thought we had FINISHED our meal & didn't realize we were waiting to order. After finally ordering, we waited 40 more mins before the food arrived. AND IT WAS COLD. I want to order my hash again at a different location. Probably the Westport one. Anyways, the lady next to us said her food was cold too and she waited forever for salt and pepper, so I offered her our tables shakers. The meal took almost 3 hours for mostly EGGS and the restaurant wasn't even full/busy! I heard a woman who walked out say to their server, "Management and the cooks are doing you a disservice. We will never come back again." Yikes. This was our worst Lee's Summit dining experience in the 4 years we have lived here. Go at your discretion; I hear the experience is hit or miss but known for more misses. I hope additional training or some changes will be made to streamline service and expedite cooking. read more
