Kale Tonic
Jessica B.

First Watch is the perfect calm for breakfast/brunch. I usually get the trifecta (waffle, bacon & lightly scrambled eggs w/ cheese but could possibly benefit from trying something new lol. I love their waffles, yummm! So fluffy & soft. I love that pricing is reasonable and the cherry on top is that it's clean. The food & the space lol. I've never had a bad experience & the servers are nice. Thanks for letting me read my books in peace without consistently interrupting me, it's appreciated. I LOVE the Kale Tonic! It's so refreshing and a great way to get your greens. I also get the green tea.

I've been wanting to try this upscale cafe in a local strip mall for sometime. We stopped for early Sunday breakfast. The staff is friendly and we were seated immediately. The dining room has a country farmhouse vibe with a mix of tables and booths. The menu offers a mix of heathy and trendy breakfast and lunch options. I opted for the Power Wrap. I'm not usually a turkey lover, but the blend of egg whites, turkey, spinach and mushrooms was delicious. The fruit side was perfectly ripe and fresh. I loved my breakfast. A special summer menu offers fun brunch cocktails and summer-themed food options. My husband ordered the Blueberry Lemon Cornbread off of the Summer menu. He devoured the big round of cornbread and said it was the perfect breakfast. Weird, I know. Marri-Anna, our server, was super friendly, accommodating and efficient. Since we were first timers, she offered us samples of two of their freshly made, fruit juices. I tried the Morning Meditation which was a blend of orange, beet, lemon, ginger and agave nectar. The juice was earthy, colorful and delicious. My husband tried the Purple Haze which was a blend of lemon, sugar, pea flower tea and lavender. He loved the juice. I'd come back just for the juices. There is plenty of parking and a really nice patio with covered tables and seating where dogs are welcome. Five star service and great food makes First Watch a winner in my book.

Good food, service and pay via QR code on the receipt. I had the french toast and ice coffee. First Watch is a good brunch spot!

This was my first time trying First Watch. I tried looking up a meal before arrival via the website but I couldn't decide on anything. Upon arrival it to my surprise, their menu is much bigger in person. With so many choices to choose from, I settled on the half waffles with a side fruit as well with some bacon and eggs. I would highly recommend.

Things I found a bit chaotic, the waitlist process and the parking lot. The food was a little under seasoned or not seasoned at all... nothing some cracked pepper & chaloula couldn't help. However, I can tell they use quality eggs & potatoes for the dish I chose. Our server Aliza was nice & checked on us frequently. I'm going to come back but on a week day next time.

I remember around 8 years ago that the menu wasn't that impressive so never went back. Gave them a try again couple years ago due to hearing that their menu has changed. And it's been a good breakfast diner for us. I have always had the Traditional breakfast but adding extra egg and sausage, it was very filling. Bacon was also very crispy. The pesto bowl also was great in taste. Service has been also good, even on a busy day. They have outdoor seating on warm weather. Have been a repeat customer here. Forgot to mention, they also now have online payment for convenience.

Potatoes

Service isn't as engaging but they food is always fresh! I will say potato quantity depends on who's in the kitchen. Thus was the first time I was ever served a portion like this but the server did bring me another order.

Very loud atmosphere on the day I was there. Friendly servers. Food quality was less than I had expected. I loved my seasonal drink however. Okay spot if you need something to eat or drink and aren't in a hurry.

It's admittedly been awhile since my last First Watch visit. We ended up choosing this spot for our recent breakfast date for two key reasons- 1.) plenty of heathy options on the menu and 2.) it's located a few doors down for. Trader Joe's (can it get any better than that?) Another great reason we discovered along the way is that they offer "join the waitlist" before you arrive. I first encountered First Watch years ago when hosting a Yep event. I'm so glad to add it back into our rotation with this 86th street location. It's hard to beat the healthy kale juice, power wrap featuring turkey, spinach, egg whites and mozzarella and a guilty-pleasure lemon ricotta pancake for a shared appetizer. The staff was very friendly and on top of things. I also appreciated all of their little touches to show of where ingredients and materials for the restaurant are sourced. Looking forward to our next visit already!

Busy but good breakfast spot. We went there for Sunday brunch and unsurprisingly there were many people waiting. We gave them our name and were told it will be about 30 minutes. And we got a text saying our table is ready, it was a bit over 30 minutes. We were escorted to this 2-top table right in front of the kitchen entrance with bright white light and busy foot traffic. I thought that was an awkward to spot to put a table in. Luckily, there were other tables available and we were seated there instead after asking the hostess nicely. It was very busy and the service was a bit slow. Our server did the minimum, and was not friendly. She took our orders, brought us our dishes, asked us if everything is ok, and never came back until we had to wait for a while and find her to request a check. My omelette was so delicious! It had Italian sausages and veggies, cheese. Their menu is so extensive and it was not easy to choose. Their seasonal menu items also looked good.

Visited First Watch on 86th St. Very cute breakfast place. Service was great from all staff. One server even helped my Mom put on her coat. I had the granola, fruit and yogurt which came with a large muffin. My Mom had the biscuits and gravy with potatoes. It was huge. I like that they give you coffee carafes and don't have to wait for refills. We went during the week which was perfect. I'll assume weekends are packed. We will be going back!

Salmon and vegetable omelette
Patricia M.

I stopped here the other day for breakfast. They have a great selection. I ordered the smoked salmon and vegetable omelet. It came with a choice of breakfast fries or salad. I chose the salad. It also had a small piece of toast that accompanied it. The omelette was open face so really more a frittatta. It was filled with salmon and was tasty but I would have liked more vegetables and maybe a little dill. The salad of lettuce was okay- nothing to write about. The bread was a little too crunchy. Coffee was excellent as was service.

Omelette

It's been a while but the food is always consistently good. Pretty hard to miss up a good thing. Service was quick and too for our large table.

Would have wished for a larger branch out in decor and style. Touches present in only select places. Food & Wait (Breakfast Quesadillas with side of cook potatoes) - presentation good, potatoes are slight mash but well cooked, a bit too salty but still palatable. Salsa is a low end mild, has cilantro so sad for me (soap gene) but over all not entirely flavorful, mostly spice and tomato. Avocado slices not overly ripe, good points. Quesadillas are the star of the dish, good balance of crunch in the tortillas with salt and savory in the bacon eggs and peppers. Cheese is not in your face as it's a lighter cheddar. Wait was negligible, a very quick dish to make for full kitchen. Pricing - $$ RATING - 4/5

Over the past year or two, I've slowly faded out my visits to a certain popular coffee establishment with a name shared by a character on Battlestar Galactica. So, when a friend told me about The Haverstick, I needed to check it out! I'm so glad I did. It has become my go-to office of choice! Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. They also have conference rooms for rent. I'm grateful this church has opened its doors to the public and offers such a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and getting some more work done.

The egg yolks were perfectly runny and the hollandaise had great flavor. I picked the house salad with champagne vinaigrette for the side and enjoyed that as well. I tried the gravy on some of the sourdough bread and it had a great flavor. The biscuits and gravy will probably be something I order next time because it was so good. When I read they season their sausage in-house I knew I had to try it even though I wanted the Benedict. The Norwegian Potato Cake was a delight! Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great for sharing, and the service made the experience even better. Since it was our first time visiting, our server Laura surprised us with a complimentary cinnamon roll, which was such a sweet gesture--and OMG, it was soooo good! It's made in-house and easily big enough for two people to share. The roll was soft and fluffy, and I especially loved that the icing wasn't overly sweet. Definitely recommend getting one for the table. We split the Breakfast Sandwich on a croissant with sausage and upgraded to the hash brown. The croissant was flaky and buttery, and the sandwich overall tasted really fresh and clean--not overly greasy or heavy. But that hash brown deserves its own shoutout. Super crispy and delicious! Definitely worth the upgrade. We also shared the Chia Seed Pudding Bowl, which was another winner. There was so much texture from the chia pudding, house granola and peanut butter, plus a generous amount of fresh fruit and berries. The strawberry preserves added just enough sweetness. It was the perfect lighter contrast to the savory breakfast sandwich. And finally, Laura was THE BEST! She was incredibly welcoming, checked on us frequently without ever being intrusive, and made our first visit feel extra special. 5/5 brunch experience. Welcoming atmosphere, clean and organized space, fresh food, great variety, an amazing cinnamon roll, and genuinely wonderful service. I honestly wouldn't have changed anything except maybe adding a little salt, but that may just be personal preference. I also enjoyed a cold brew while we sat out on the patio. The only downside was the construction noise from the large apartment buildings going up around the patio. That is obviously not the restaurant's fault, but it is something to be aware of if you're planning to sit outside right now. I'm SO glad I did because this was easily one of the prettiest coffees I've had in the area, and the vibes were absolutely immaculate. The space was a little cramped, and it was somewhat tricky to tell who was waiting in line for goodies versus coffee, which made it feel a bit overstimulating. But the drink itself was sweet, delicious, and definitely worth the stop! I can't say it would be one of my frequent stops as I waited a decent amount of time for just a coffee, in a cramped area but was cool to see as I can't find myself making a reservation anytime soon after seeing the prices (sheesh to say the least!)
