Once we arrived the atmosphere was nice and had a homey vibe to it. We were later greeted and seated. The menu was short and sweet and the orders coming out looked amazing! I've been to this location for around 2 years. I've always had a great experience besides today ! I walked up to the the host booth to join the wait line. Nobody was there and then here comes a worker she was very dry and dismissive!! That had already created a bad impression. Then we returned for our sitting time mind you it's just me and my parter. I was looking for a good brunch place that my 3 year old son would like and me as well. This restaurant was on the way out of Houston since we were returning home so we chose this place. There were a lot of people waiting which is a good sign to me because they are busy. They have a nice system where you take down your information and they'll text you when a table is ready for you instead of standing outside by the door. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for some fresh orange juice and she recommended I try one of their specialty drinks. It's in the pictures below. I couldn't figure what I wanted so she gave me some good ideas about the popular items on the menu. I choose the Chickenigan (I spelt it wrong lol). It was good....had I been able to choose another dish after tasting it, I would have. My son got a chocolate chip pancake and bacon from the kids menu. It's a great portion and is loaded with avocado, green chilies and cheese. I found that there was very little chorizo in my omelette but the flavor was still amazing. There is a dollop of sour cream that adds that extra kick. It comes with toast and either arugula salad or potatoes. Now the million dollar bacon is divine. Birthday Brunch at the former Egg and I was pretty scrumpteous from what I remember, but to be honest, the only thing I recollected clearly from the meal was how blown away I was at the hot sauce on my eggs lol Upon entering First Watch, the first thing I notice is the interior is way more rustic with blue and wooden undertones-- much cooler atmosphere. Various size tables float around the restaurant, but I still would not recommend this place for large groups. 4-6 people tops for comfortable seating. My waiter was super cool. Answered my questions about my beverage choices. The typical juice selections of cranberry and orange etc are not only from a can, but not 100% juice. I decided to partake of the freshly prepared Morning Meditation juice, which contains orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet juices. I asked about the aftertaste of all the juices and he suggested the Morning Meditation. Such a delicious concoction! Very smooth- no pulp whatsoever! Its also pretty to look at when it arrives to your table (almost reminds me of an adult cocktail, too)! If you're use to turmeric, than you'll notice just a slight taste of it in the drink, but it's good for you, so devour completely! Only thing, I'm quite carb sensitive, so with the combination of this potent drink, toast, and homestyle hashbrowns, I was extremely ready to go to sleep after this meal! Went with The Traditional, which includes 2 eggs anyway, 2 sausage patties(chicken or pork) or bacon strips, along with homestyle hashbrowns, and artisan grain toast. I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken sausage. A hint of applewood and sage made it quite a competitor against the typical pork sausage patty. The rest of the entree was pretty delicious as well, making for a full stomach since the portion sizes are Huge! I wasn't hungry five hours later, and that was even after working out 3 of those 5 hours! You can't beat the ambience of this place and the food together is just a win win. Been here before, it was pretty good, went today 10/7/2022. It was AWFUL! I ordered Eggs Benedict, my husband got the BLT. Everything was cold, the potatoes with my dish was so salty that it could not be eaten! The bun underneath the spinach was soggy! My husband's BLT was cold as well. His mimosa was just nasty! There are not a ton of restaurants in this area in comparison to Houston's inner loop so I'm glad this restaurant is here since I'm in the area often. First Watch has 2.5 stars on yelp and 2 stars on google. I honestly have no idea what enticed us to check it out. Most of the negative comments focused on their slow service. However, our experience was very positive. We arrived around 930 and had no wait. Service was somewhat slow to get to our table after we were seated, giving us plenty of time to look through the menu and enjoy the rustic decor (especially the sweet pallet chandelier). We went ahead and ordered our meal at the same time we ordered our drinks. We honestly had a hard time deciding, as everything sounded so good. The food was simple and delicious. My wife had the elevated egg sandwich, I ordered the tri-athlete, and we shared a blueberry pancake. I really appreciate that they include multi-grain options and sugar-free syrup, heck, I love that the lighter side of the menu isn't just egg whites and granola. They claim their ingredients are all locally sourced, which can't really be proven in the same way Dish Society or Buff Burger display local farms they work with.
