I didn't have high expectations for this place anyway so my experience there just diminished the longer I stayed. It is 75 degrees in Houston in November and they had the nerve to run the heating system. I can't do anything hot so attempting to eat was a tall order. I asked for water to drink. They have glasses already on the table and the one that was on mine was scratched up and dirty. Very unattractive! So I asked for a to-go cup and they brought me the tiny one pictured. I asked for pecan waffles, thinking that they would cook the pecans inside the waffle like normal places but no, they threw them on top. I chuckled when the waitress brought it to me. The waitress I saw maybe 3 times, at my table. She was too concerned with whatever else was a priority. She didn't bring any syrup for the waffle, someone else did minutes later. I need a to-go box and it took 10 minutes for me to find someone to ask and another 10 for me to actually receive it. I may try the place again. Maybe not. Who knows?! read more

I've been here twice and I've enjoyed both times. My boyfriend and I have ordered different dishes and each one has been delish. First Watch offers food that's a little more in the wholesome side. I've tried their Avocado toast which was amazing and their breakfast sandwich which was also good. Their avocado was nice and fresh the first visit and a little brown the second visit. We've been going to this restaurant since it was "The Egg and I". The chain was bought by First Watch and I was happy to see the same management and service teams. The new decor is great, sort of a country modern, and the food is top notch. I called First Watch before calling DoorDash so that I could give special instructions before calling in my order (First Watch doesn't allow customers to give special instructions on DoorDash). I informed First Watch that I would be ordering the smashed avocado with seasoned potatoes and eggs and 4 drinks. My instructions were to put ice in only one of the drinks and the other 3 no ice (I would be drinking them one a day and didn't want them watered down). I then called DoorDash and made my order. I called First Watch and confirmed they received my order. I was disappointed that they had already made my order before DoorDash even assigned a delivery driver. My order arrived cold and, the three drinks without ice were in very small cups and the drink with ice was in the normal size cup. I understand that they were very busy but every other table got coffee as soon as they were seated except for us. We were actually getting up about to walk out when she came out with my son and husbands drinks because we had been waiting for over 20 min before she finally brought that out and I still had to wait another 10 min for the coffee. We got biscuits and gravy that taste like it came straight out of a can and sat under a heat lamp for an hour. No fresh tossed greens with house-made dressing anymore. My potatoes tasted precut, frozen and reheated in a microwave. Service was slow and inattentive. My turkey sausage was rubbery, dry and tasted like chemicals, if that makes sense. We didn't even eat most of it and the server couldn't have cared less. Sadly, we were frequent patrons but will absolutely not be returning. Yeah...no. Apparently I have been living under a rock! Went to First Watch at Fall Creek for breakfast. It was SO good! Our waitress was awesome, she gave us juice samples (they fresh squeeze their own). Eggs are fresh, their toast is thick, crunchy, and nutty, and their million dollar bacon was just....phenomenal. Go check them out!! Coffee and bread were so good we bought a loaf and bag of coffee. Came here on a humbug with the family to enjoy a nice brunch. I appreciated that I could set my reservation for a table online instead of the whole come first serve ordeal. The food was decently priced although I found it odd that breakfast didn't come with eggs. My mom and uncle opted for a sandwich and salad while the kids selected the chocolate chip pancake, a half Belgian waffle and the traditional pancake kids meals all which came with their choice of sausage or bacon and I ordered the Mexican Elote breakfast. The food was ok although I had to send my first plate back because the breafast potatoes were overcooked and burnt (the waitress was really polite and promptly took care of my complaint). My mom and uncle enjoyed their meals and their drinks. I can't remember what the drink was called but I remember it came with a think slice of bacon on a stick in it...odd but interesting. I asked for scrambled because I don't like any of my egg to be raw and some of it was still a little to jiggly for me. Pork sausage was okay, but not a lot of flavor. Potatoes were good along with the Belgian waffle we got. The syrup is warm so the waffle didn't get cold as fast. The preserves that come with it, be careful, it's a mixed berry preserve and we didn't know it and the person I was with is allergic to blueberries. Luckily she tasted it on the tip of her fork.
