We waited over 15 minutes just for a cup of banana, and I never got it, I eventually had to cancel the order. First visit and I tried a seasonal special, the steak chimichurri hash, no cheese, and no aoli. The steak was tender, yet cooked thoroughly, eggs over medium had a nice smooth consistency, potatoes were moist with flavor, and the spices were just right. The entire meal was very balanced and fresh. They were out of the lemon blueberry cornbread, so I got a blueberry muffin instead, which had a sugary crisp top and a buttery center with moist blueberries. Very yummy. Potted coffee is served at the table with a container that is left there throughout the meal. I probably had 4-6 cups of coffee lol Water is also served with a carafe on the table so guests can continuously pour. Smart - so as a customer I'm always hydrated and the wait staff can focus on other aspects of guest service. We always had the server check on us and bring extra napkins. Unfortunately this is a no for me. We went on a slow Thursday morning around 10:30 it was not busy by any means. It took a while to get greeted, no biggie I get it, I ordered a Bloody Mary and asked if there was a salt or Tajin rim she said both, great I love that, got it... no rim. This was our second dining experience at First Watch, and unfortunately, two things have been consistently clear: the food is amazing, but the customer service is seriously lacking. Both times, the food has been delicious and definitely worth coming back for. However, the service has been disappointing. On both visits, our servers seemed disengaged and as though they simply did not enjoy being there. No smiles, no attempt to build rapport, and very little effort to make us feel welcomed or appreciated as customers. The experience felt very transactional -- take the order, bring the food, and move on. What makes it more frustrating is that at the end of such an impersonal experience, you are still presented with of leaving a tip, with the option of opting out. I absolutely believe in tipping for good service, but customer service should be part of the dining experience, not just taking an order and delivering food. First Watch clearly knows how to serve great food. Now, I would love to see the same level of attention given to hospitality and customer service. The meals were essentially comped for a donation to their charity! Food was good and the coordinators on site seemed to have the place running fairly smoothly! The place was filled this day and we returned a few days later to another filled venue. The food is good and made to order. The staff are friendly and attentive. They do usually serve alcohol but unsure if this location does. It's at a nice spot on south eastern and you can have breakfast and do some shopping at the local stores. (Hard to find these days). This place is always busy and I give the service and everything five stars, because everyone is busy, and giving their all. I would avoid going on Sunday. Took us 20 minutes to get water and then the utensils about 5 minutes after MOST of the food arrived. My food finally arrived after everyone finished. Luckily the portions are large because everyone put some on a side plate for me so I could with the rest of the party. We all knew that either the server or the cook forgot my meal but we kept getting excuses about "warming up some tortillas" and "it's almost ready". It was loud, hectic and way too busy. I've been to the ones outside of Ft Benning and Ft Bragg and those were much nicer and friendlier staff. It's a one and done for me at the Eastern Avenue location but your experience may be different. I will definitely update this in a month or two after they iron out their wrinkles as I would hope to see improvements on the service more so than the food by then. My hubby had the 1/2 and 1/2, roast beef sandwich was good but the Cobb salad was just ok. Lettuce was not crispy. But definitely do not skip on the million dollar bacon - bomb! Sweet and crispy! We needed refills on our pico de gallo and ranch which we had to request from another waitress because ours was nowhere to be seen. The only thing I wish she did was make a recommendation. I tried the biscuits and gravy today and $1 million bacon. The bacon itself is not my cup of tea. 11:30am, 23/12. After 30+ minute wait (fine by us), this was the experience: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Dry (crumbly--need water within reach dry). Companions had a taste and agreed. The appeal to try the other pancake flavors next time evaporated. The Lemon curd-like condiment, however, was nice--if I had a bowl of just that, I would have been perfectly satisfied. Barbacoa Chilaquiles Bowl. The bowl was drenched with an overpoweringly tart ranchero sauce. Was it lime or vinegar--couldn't tell but it literally made me pucker and do the head shake--not for dramatic purposes. The tortilla chips were not as expected. They appeared "store bought" lacking the distinctive taste of freshly-fried corn tortilla pieces. If the chips were baked instead of fried, given that First Watch promotes itself as a healthier dining option, I can overlook this issue. The chips were fine for other dips, just not for chilaquiles. And I should have read the description better so it's on me, but I was disappointed that it was served with a scrambled egg and not with a twosome of over-easy fried eggs; chilaquiles is traditionally enjoyed with a runny yolk. Side of beans were good. My friends had their own complaints with their dishes but they'll just have to yelp their issues on their own. As for service, we needed to flag our server down for water because we weren't checked on for a long while after our dishes were served. Will we give First Watch another go? For now, considering the price of breakfast these days and to be as disappointed as we were, we'll be driving another 4 miles to stick to our tried-and-true, Cafe du Val, until another breakfast/brunch place opens up in the area with our fingers crossed. *long sigh* read more

When this location first opened, it was long waits and mixed reviews. So we decided to give it a try on a Wednesday morning. Only about 6 or 7 tables occupied and we were seated immediately. After about 5 minutes, our server showed up and delivered coffee, we were not ready to order. After about 10 minutes another server showed up. Not very friendly, just took our order and left. Our food showed up in a reasonable length of time. I ordered scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and a waffle. The egg was just a large tasteless blob, the waffle was just at the edge of being cooked, mostly soft. The bacon was only crispy in a few areas. Based on the hype I really think it could have been better. Truthfully I think Denny's serves a better breakfast. I doubt that I would go back as the overall experience was underwhelming. read more
