Me and my wife Linda come to Black Mountain Grill usually for happy hour as we are in bed early, Friday night we found ourselves in later than normal as we had been gambling at GVR to celebrate my birthday. We tried to enter from the patio but saw that their was a private party of another birthday celebration so we walked around and was seated by a nice young girl with glasses that got us a high top close to the patio and bathrooms. We waited for several minutes as it was busy with a lot going on with everyone watching the final minutes of the hockey game. We continued to wait as we still had not been greeted then a gentleman who was black with dreads walked up to us and asked if we had been helped we replied not yet. He apologized and said he could help us. My wife and I both wanted a bud light draft, we continued to look at them menu and he returned with our drinks and introduced himself as Kyle and said he would help us and apologized again. Kyle recommended the filet as I like a good steak and my wife had the steak salad but with salmon which Kyle recommended her fish to be cooked medium. My wife appreciated him explaining what a medium cook would be like for her salmon. We had some wonderful conversation with Kyle and he made sure to check on us periodically as we enjoyed our time out on this special occasion. As we were winding down dinner and I wanted to smoke I noticed the patio party was wrapping up so I stepped out through the patio gate. We really enjoyed our date night / my birthday celebration at Black Mountain Grill and we really appreciated how Kyle apologized with no ego and checked on the other tables around us to make sure that they were all taken care of too. Congratulations to him for his daughter's graduation from UCLA this Wednesday. We look forward to coming back again and seeing Kyle he was fantastic and very playful with his staff and that's something you do not see a lot of from management these days. read more

Wind here on an early Sunday morning with my adult son after church. Plenty of available parking in the lot and the place was dimly lit when we entered. Only a few customers mostly at the bar area and my son and I sat at a high top table for two. The waitress was very friendly and we ordered the two pancake, eggs and bacon breakfast which we split the meal and only drank water so total bill $17! Really enjoyed the ambience so rustic with the wildlife decor and beautiful epoxy floors, also very clean tables, heavy leather menus and such comfy, thick cushion chairs. read more

Another review of Sunday 06/28. We sat at the bar and we ordered a pepperoni pizza and the mountain salad w chicken. Salad was fresh and delightful. For bar pizza not bad- pan style w surprisingly good crust, ingredients decent although, sauce on it was zesty and a bit tart....not our style....it was ok for sitting at the bar. A friend of my husband raved about this place so we decided to give it a try. Went to dinner around 7:30 pm on a Saturday and were seated promptly. Although this place has an active bar with poker machines, there was no hint of cigarette smoke when we were there which was a huge plus. My hubs ordered the baby back ribs and I orders the hanger steak with a side salad. He also had the French onion soup. There was no complimentary bread so we also ordered the garlic bread. The food was good, not great but the overall dining experience was nice. Everything as tasty, and I liked the garlic bread which was pretty basic. My hubby said that the ribs are better at Ellis island, but he ate them all. The hanger steak was a bit chewy but it's not filet mignon right? The ambiance of this little place was intimate and had better quality ingredients in the dishes than other bar/ video poker places use. The service was fairly good and the bar did not skimp on the whisky in my whiskey sour. The place is a quiet alternative to the village pubs in the vicinity and offers up some really good dishes that are easy on the wallet, especially on Tuesdays. This time, I ordered the Blackened Ahi & Watermelon Salad, but unfortunately it was overdressed. I wish I had asked for the dressing on the side. I've come here many times. It's Easter and I was served a horrible prime rib. The rest of the meal was ok. I asked for medium rare. Look at the picture. I took the picture after I turned it over. It was well cooked, delicious, flavorful. I also got fries, these fries are the best I have had and I am posting this next part just for me because I read my own reviews to remember what I got/what my experience was just in case it's a while in between visits. GET THE FRIES. CRISPY, LIKE BEER BATTERED DELICIOUSNESS. They also had a buy 1 get 1 free special going on so my brother who ordered a Chicken Pesto sandwich got it for free. The only negative for me is that I asked for a To go cup for my Iced tea as to not waste it and they didn't have that... I have been in some really nice Italian restaurants and even they have to go cups so I found that odd... And my brother left his glasses on the table and the waiter ran out and caught us at the car, that was pretty nice of him to do! Terrible service and very rude workers. Had a female buser who didn't say a word, even after we stacked the dishes for her to make it easier. Then I asked her for 2 to-go boxes. She mumbled a 'uh huh'...came back, put it on the table, I said thank you and she didn't say a word. The manager gave us two free desserts, but then said that 'we all have bad days'. Hmm...ok....well, so are you defending your rude staff???? Unacceptable. We used to come often, but will not anymore. Tristin and that bus girl have ruined it for us. To the hiring manager and Donna - the owner - set your standards higher with who you onboard. Neither one like working there and it's a very poor reflection on your establishment. Went to Black Mountain Grill on a Friday afternoon to attend a Golden Knights watch party with one of my local meetup groups. How have I driven past this place so many times before but have never been inside? This is a very cozy neighborhood bar and grill that's perfect for watching the Golden Knights games and all other sorts of games. We had our own section of the restaurant reserved for our meetup group, which was in the back near the entrance to the patio area. This section here had a perfect view of the TV to watch the game, but one complaint that we had was that our table was directly above the AC and it was freezing. By any means I am not a huge day drinker, but I ordered a Bellini cocktail to start off with, which is a mix of peach schnapps and champagne. Some ladies in my group ordered a chocolate martini, which is literally chocolate milk with alcohol and a drizzle of chocolate syrup inside. As much as I liked my Bellini cocktail, I could only have one because I drove here. I was interested in having a late lunch here but didn't want anything too big, so I ordered a pepperoni pizza for myself. Complimentary bread with butter was also included. There were a few other dishes that made an appearance, but the only one that I can remember now was the French Onion Soup. The pizza was good but it was a bit greasy on the bottom. They have a happy hour, which runs from Monday-Thursday from 2-6pm at the bar and at their lounge area, located on the second floor I believe. I really enjoyed Black Mountain Grill and I would like to come back here next time and join them for happy hour. Also, our Golden Knights won the game! Woot! read more

It's been a while since we have eaten at Black Mountain. Dinner with friends. They honored our reservation on a busy Saturday night (nice!). Miranda, our server, was at our table soon after we sat down. Service was excellent throughout. My wife and I decided to share the full rack of ribs ($32) with a side of sweet potato fries ($2 add on). Ribs were incredibly meaty and fall off the bone tender. Better than we have had at many rib joints. Excellent service, excellent food, fair prices - definitely going to come back soon. read more

My wife and I made 2:30 reservations for Christmas day. We have been going to Black Mountain for the last two years and its been one of our favorites places; we have found the food and service to be consistently good. While it was a little busy when we arrived we were seated quickly, by 2:45 we had our drinks and place our order, this was the prompt service that we have received in the past. In about 30 minutes my salad had not arrived and I realized that the room was full of people but no food was coming out of the kitchen. The service staff were walking around but nobody was bringing food to the table. I finally asked by the busboy to get our waitress, when she arrived she appeared nervous, saying that it was busier than expected, and would I like a salad, I reminded her that I order one, so yes. By 3:30 a couple of table in our dining room received their order, but I still had no salad or no communication on when we might expect our order. I felt sorry for the busboy because he had to keep coming to the tables to fill water glasses. By 3:45 my wife and I decided to give them 10 minutes, when we got up to leave the manager suddenly came to the table and apologized for the wait, he said that there were no other open restaurants in the area. That was a lie because I had check out the local restaurants before I made the reservation. He offered to bring me a salad, I shared that I ordered a salad twice and it never arrived, so don't bother. Before I left I told him that he was responsible for not having a plan for this situation, he needed to be honest, and he put his staff in a bad spot and leaving customers frustrated. We left. I have worked as a cook and head cook for over 10 years and know things can go terribly wrong in the kitchen; cooks get injured, cooks not showing up for the shift, equipment breaking down, and running out of prepared foods. I can deal with any good reason for delays in an order, but its the manager's responsibility to communicate with the customer about the problem in a timely manner. We will go back to Black Mountain because every business screws up; but I hope a different manager is there. read more

We have gone here several times in the last year because the food is good and it's hard to find a dining room that is not so loud that you cannot enjoy dinner conversation. We have overlooked the not so great service. Usually slow, many times, orders delayed, like salad served when entrees are almost finished. No Lemon in the tea is a particularly difficult order here, but last night was the worst, when I told the server that it had been ordered without lemon, she stuck her finger in the glass, flicked the lemon out and served it. Too bad they can't train their staff because the food is good. I also object to the tip charge on tax. Tip added to parties of 6 or more is somewhat standard these days but adding 20% after the tax. is not. Pretty regular, parties of between 6 and 9, customers lost! read more

Stopped in to have breakfast while my car was getting an oil change. I asked the bartender if I could order a breakfast sandwich it is not a menu item. She told me no it used to be on the menu but now it isn't and that I could go ahead and purchase the big breakfast and make my own sandwich out of it. That was absolutely ridiculous. I have never been to any restaurant where I've asked for a breakfast sandwich whether on the menu or not that the kitchen couldn't manage to make one it's two pieces of bread, scrambled eggs, some bacon and some cheese. Wow! Everything was so good!! The service was great!! The atmosphere was so great! Loved the decor. Our party of 8 was sat at the round table in the semi private room. It was perfect! We tried the chicken piccata, chicken Marsala, Korean short ribs, fish and chips, Mac and cheese, cheese pizza, French onion soup, and the jalapeño cheddar mashed potatoes. The dessert was great too! My wife and I had a wonderful time , we just got back into town from Washington DC and we just love the decor and atmosphere. Nice touch with the jazz music mixed with some 80s music and country. I had the filet and my wife had the short ribs both were cooked perfectly and we had a fantastic server named Kylie who was kind and attentive. Kyle the manager with braids also ran food and helped his staff. What we enjoyed the most besides the food and atmosphere was how the entire staff all seemed happy and relaxed but professional and on their duties. The lady said she would give us a few minutes to look over the menu and she never came back. Instead she stood and chit chatted with the bartender the entire time. We sat there for almost 20 minutes. The cook in the kitchen kept looking our way as if he were saying "what are you guys eating ". I really used to like this place but Im tired of paying good money to eat out only to have subpar service...didn't get service at all.
