The service was slow but that was bc every single table was taken - and now I know why. We will be back.

If you haven't tried HomeGrown yet, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go!…read more We absolutely love the HomeGrown restaurants in Wichita, so when we were near Kansas City and discovered this location, we had to stop in. It was the best meal of the trip. What I love most about HomeGrown is that even though there are several locations, it doesn't feel like a big restaurant chain. It feels like a hometown café where people genuinely care about the food and the community. They make a real effort to source their meat and other ingredients locally whenever possible, and you can taste the difference. The food is fresh, comforting, and delicious, and there's just something about the whole atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. We were told this location has only been open a little over a year and they are hoping for this location to get busier. That honestly surprised me, because this is exactly the kind of restaurant I want to see succeed. So if you're anywhere near this HomeGrown, please go give them a try! Bring your family, meet a friend for breakfast or lunch, and discover a great local-feeling restaurant that deserves to be busy. We already love HomeGrown in Wichita, and now we're rooting for this location, too!

Their breakfasts are always great and that avocado and egg BLT is really satin. Over the years they have definitely become a mainstay for meeting up for lunch. Flavor!!! That is what you will find here…read more My GF and I picked this place because the reviews are excellent and man are they well deserved. I've been in KC for 3 days and this was hands down my favorite meal. First off, the decor is great. Retro 50's vibe, atomic age with a modern spin. It feels bright and alive. Second, the service was fantastic. Attentive, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The order arrive quickly and everyone was engaging and just plain nice. Last but not least, the food was just perfect. The habanero pork belly was seasoned perfectly. Just the right amount of punch. Now, I like a little extra kick so I added chorizo to my bowl and it was so freaking good. (Side note, I requested some hot sauce and they carry an assortment of premium hot sauce brands - the good stuff!) My GF got the sweet potato pancakes with caramel and pecans. So sweet and fluffy they could felt like dessert. These are not the sad sweet potato pancakes of old. No, these are the real deal! If you are reading Yelp reviews and trying to decide on a spot, stop right this moment, you just found it!

A place stitched into the map long before GPS, back when life was simple and a kid could catch his first job and his first lessons in the same place. I was 14 bussing tables here -- I'll be 53 in April -- and somehow this place hasn't changed in all the ways that matter. The owners? Good people. The rare kind you don't meet much anymore. The kind that treat staff like blood, not bodies on a schedule. Most of the crew has been here 20+ years, and in this world, nobody stays anywhere that long unless there's love in the walls, history in the floor, and respect in every direction. Village Inn is a Mission landmark, a quiet anchor for travelers, families, and old souls like me who grew up inside its doors.
