This is a great place to eat, but Mother's Day was a complete catastrophe. The app stated a 120- 180 minutes wait after signing in (which I did). We went there 2.5 hours after signing in and "got in line" via their system. It took another 1.5 hours before they messaged us stating that we were 34 and 27 in line respectively. Essentially, even though we signed in at 9am, we were not "given a table" until 12:15. We decided to eat elsewhere. No updates were given to us on timeline and there wasn't a single manager to be found on the front (host stand when entereing). If you can't accommodate, then please stop allowing people to electronically sign in with a false notification of wait times. Don't ruin Mother's Day for people. read more

Came here on a Wednesday for lunch around 1. It wasn't busy at all. Was sat down but a server didn't show up. After 15 minutes of waiting, we flagged the hostess down to notify them of this. A server shows up and takes our drinks (water) and food order. We then waited another 10 minutes and at that point, our waters had still not arrived. We walked over to the hostess and told her that we were leaving because after 25 minutes of waiting, we still had not received a water. For whatever reason, other guests were being serviced promptly, essentially as soon as they sat down. Not sure why we received different treatment. We then went over to Ford's fish shack where we waited only 5 seconds to get waters. read more

This was my second time coming and likely my last. Came about 2 weeks after the opening and the wait and service was deplorable. Decided to come here again months later for my birthday ( got a BOGO coupon for my birthday I wanted to use). Came on a Friday morning and the service was slower than it should be for weekday. My food was good but my husband ordered pancakes and he said they tasted like absolutely nothing ( I tried a bite and agreed with his assessment). We asked it to be removed from our bill which it was. When checking out the manager said I would not be able to use my birthday coupon since we got one meal. She did apply a coupon which gave me a small discount, but she should have comped my meal. It was literally my birthday, July 22, and I came here specifically because I could use the coupon. I'll stick to my cracker barrel breakfasts from now on. Shame on you first watch for treating someone that way on their birthday. read more

When I tried to speak with her regarding how I've had food in other locations she said "this is my restaurant and this is how it is". Well. I was excited to come to this restaurant for the first time. Looked like a great menu of items. We arrive, and our quoted time for our party of 10 was 1 hour and a half (sitting down at 12:50pm) We waited that exact time to find out we were sitting at a table for 8. My younger brother mention something to the hostess, letting her know we are 10 not 8. She replied that this is our table. I added that we advised we were 10 people and wondered if we could even fit 10 chairs here (it was a round table). I also let her know that for our party size usually people put the square/rectangular tables to help fit her party as I was looking around the room for alternative options. She replied with a 'not my problem attitude' saying "they do not combine tables here, sorry" and then offered we could talk to her manager and walked away. I assumed she was going to be getting more chairs for us and she did not. The next gentleman was our waiter, and I formed him that I believed the hostess was getting our chairs. I did not appear. He knew the party size, but he helped to get chairs for us. The manager did come over and he was polite trying to see if we would be happy with this table or he could put us in 2 booths. I let him know we came her together to eat together and that the booths aren't an option for us. It was tight putting ten chairs but managed. (Come to notice later that tables opened up about 5-10 after we sat down that could have accommodated our party easily. I did not say anything. We were all settled at this point.) We sit down, then the waiter takes our drink order . Which we don't get for another 15 minutes. he comes to bring us our drinks and we immediately want to order because we don't know how much longer things may take. We give him the order and await for food. could arrives. We noticed that we are missing a plate. The waiter says it is coming. 10 minutes later we are still waiting. I reminded the waiter that we have not received our last plate. We all believe that the waiter forgot to put it in. we hadto wait a little longer for the free to come out and it is hot- Thankfully. He brings it out and offer a quick apology. Not having dined here before we weren't aware that we have to pay at the front of the restaurant to the cashier . As we finished our meals meal, we had to ask the waiter for the check. At that time he let us know that we have to pay upfront. There was never any communication, like how was everything, sorry again for the late plate, if you if you are done then when you're ready, you can pay upfront. We all go up there to pay, my husband paid the bill. I later asked him if they took off the the plate that was 15-20 min late and he said 'no' disappointedly. Our overall experience was really poor. From the time I hostess greeted us to the end when we had to pay her bill . Our waiter was nice, but he wasn't that attentive and he didn't try to make the situation better especially when the last plate seemed to be forgotten and arrived when most of us were done eating. The manager was nice but it doesn't seem he or the staff understand when tables are turning and the timing of when that happens. My silverware was dirty, my mimosa was served to me with a personal champagne bottle and a glass of orange juice. The food was decent. There are many things to improve here. The hostess could have informed us of what kind of table we would be sitting at; at that point, we may have been able to talk to the manager and discuss an alternative. The hostess' attitude/demeanor was very poor, not friendly or smiling or welcoming . I can appreciate the manager and the waiter, being polite and nice, but the actions of how they could've handled the situation and understanding the restaurant tables could've been handled differently. (Ex. Immediately offer the meal to be comp'd) . Timing of service to our table can be improved. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this place to any of my friends or family, nor will I come back here again. read more

My husband and I stopped in this First Watch for breakfast on a rainy Saturday. We have been to many First Watch restaurants and were excited that this one opened up close by. I got on the waitlist through their app which indicated an hour/hour and a half wait. When I got to the restaurant 15 minutes later, it was only a 40 minute wait, despite not a lot of people visibly waiting. Another 15 minutes later, our table was ready and according to their text message, I had only 2 minutes for the table to be held. We were greeted by the server, who seemed a bit indifferent, who took our drink orders and brought them fairly quickly. He then took our food order and we waited a half hour to receive our food which was cold and the toast was rock hard. My eggs were almost raw and it took awhile to flag down my server to have them recooked. To his credit, he brought out newly cooked eggs quickly that were actually hot! My husband's Works Omelet was good, but cold. Toast arrived with no butter or condiments and also rock hard. At no point did anyone ask us how our food was or our experience. It will be a very long time before we come back to this restaurant. read more

Not really sure how many stars I want to give, maybe by the end of my review I will know. My first visit here the wait on the app said 2-3 hours, so I put myself on the waitlist via the app. An hour an 45 min later I called to confirm if I had 20min or an hour left and was advised I had another 2-3 hours. I said I put myself on the waitlist almost 2 hours ago and it said 2-3 so now I have another 2-3 to wait and she said yes. So I removed myself from the list, brushed it off as it being new, so busier than other places. Today the wait list said 30-45 min, we arrived 30 min later and our table was ready , brunch was starting out great! Service was okay, waitress was very timid... she didn't introduce herself at first so we wasn't sure if she was actually our waitress or just going around offering people coffee. Finally ordered...My drink (Pineapple Express) was delicious!!! When food arrived, they didn't have my toddlers food... she reassured us it was coming but it unfortunately didn't show up until after the rest of us were done eating. We never got offered any refills for drinks or asked if we wanted something to drink. No apologies for the delayed meal or anything and upon checkout wasn't asked how our meal was, if we enjoyed our food or welcomed back. Even though everyone was nice, food was okay and service was mediocre. I personally don't think it's worth it, hopefully others have a much better experience. I may try again in a few months when the newness dies down but the customer service has to improve!!! read more

We've been really looking forward to the opening of First Watch so my husband and I went for breakfast last week. The parking lot was packed so we expected a wait but were seated right away (about 75% full). However, it took another 40 minutes to get our food and we had to ask for our drinks to be brought while we were waiting. The lemon ricotta pancakes were a disappointment. I've had them at Cheesecake Factory and these pancakes just didn't compare although the lemon curd on top was pretty good. My husband had the Trifecta and, although his food was good, it was a pretty small amount of food. The atmosphere is really nice .... very bright and clean, lots of seating options (2-tops, long tables for large groups, and a "counter" where individuals can sit and plug in a laptop), but the design of the ceiling (open "industrial" look) makes it very loud inside. There was music playing but only once could we even hear it well enough to recognize the song and often had trouble hearing each other. The staff were all very friendly and they seem to work as a team. We may give it another try although I think Panera (next door) will still be our go-to breakfast place. read more

The service was great, which makes up for the failures of the food. While seemingly attempting to appear as if they were a rural restaurant serving home-cooked, hearty meals, they have missed the mark with the food. So many of the staple options of down-home cooking are ruined with their failure to pay homage to real, traditional home cooking and the addition of unnecessary ingredients in an attempt to appear "elevated." Hash, when made with quality potatoes, onions, etc, does not need avocado and goat cheese, for example. Even if the addition of non-traditional ingredients is decided upon, proper execution in preparation is important. For example, Belgian waffles are supposed to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, not soft and mushy throughout. And gravy can be easily made. It should never come from a can. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot in Northern Virginia, this is not the place. Do yourself a favor and take the time to cook it yourself with quality ingredients and a lot of love. read more

My daughter and I have been to the South Riding, VA location a couple of times and we absolutely love it! The food is always fresh and comes out fast. You are always greeted by friendly employees when arriving and the wait staff is friendly and attentive, without being too overbearing. We were seated right away (Tues 10am) but our waiter walked past us several times & didn't help us until 15 mins later. Our meals came after a long while. People seated after us were served before us. Due to a mix up in order or kitchen one in our party didn't receive meal until 25 mins after everyone else at our table. Our server was unapologetic and served others while we were still waiting. We had to ask twice about the status of the missing meal and had to ask multiple times for water. It was bad from start to finish. Waitress did come to the table and got us coffee and water very quickly but then took forever coming back. She was busy wiping countertops attending to other customers around us and did not make eye contact. I had to ask my friends if she was our waitress because it didn't seem like our table was hers. Food took forever and was cold when we got it. My friend got an omelette which was pathetic, flat pancake like eggs with the "toppings" just laid on top and then flipped over, nothing incorporated. A whole box or it seemed like a whole box of wet "spring mix" salad next to the omelette ... not sure why it was on the plate but ok... it looked pretty I guess. We waited over an hour for our food to come, we inquired through our waitress on our order status several times (she did check and got back with each time), we finally as the manager to check (he never did). I recommend looking elsewhere for breakfast or brunch. Definitely don't eat here and waste a good part of your day waiting for a seat and for your food! We were told two weekends in a row by this restaurant that the wait to get seated at this new First Watch location is 2 to 3 hours (keep in mind this restaurants closes at 2:30 PM). The first weekend we visited the restaurant we just said forget it. The following weekend we decided to call first and was told to register and wait in line online from their Web site. So we registered online, then waited 2 hours before we headed to the restaurant. When we arrived, we waited about 15 minutes to get seated. Because we had registered to wait in line from the Web site, we were able to jump ahead of the people who walked in without first registering online. But that was just the beginning of what was to be a negative experience. After being seated and ordering, we ended up waiting 45 minutes until our food was brought out to our table. During the long wait, our waitress who was also working the bar area disappeared and never once during our 45 minutes wait stop by to check on us. We questioned if they lost our order or if they just forgot about us. Our waitress suddenly and magically appeared only after the person who finally brought out our food from the kitchen asked us if we needed anything else. I think she may have overheard him ask and decided to come over to check. A little too late! By that time we were ready to get the heck out of there. I ordered a Tri-Fecta and was pretty disappointed when I looked at it. The portions of the potatoes and egg looked like they used 1/10th of a potato and 1/10th of an egg to make the dish. It was miniscule portions and laughable (smaller than a typical kids menu portion for the potatoes and egg). Though, the one pancake was a decent size. The food and specialty juices were good, but not worth the wait and not worth the price. You can get the same if not better and better service from other breakfast & brunch restaurants in the area. It's only busy right now because it's a new restaurant and draws people to visit because of the curiosity. Once the "new restaurant" novelty wears off, it is destined to close like the Ruby Tuesday before it which it replaced if things don't improve. Needless to say we won't be returning. read more

i first got the pineapple express! it tasted like regular pineapple juice but it was good. i got the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were pretty good. the pancakes were ginormous so make sure you're hungry if you want the pancakes. the lemon curd on top was very delicious and the pancakes were good but it tasted odd. overall i think it was good and i recommend it this restaurant! read more
